If you want to find new stuff on the regular my cohost and I do a podcast called The Harsh Vocals podcast. We basically listen to every new metal release every week and record a show every two weeks where we each bring three tracks to play on the show as the standouts. We also have a pretty significant list of honorable mentions that we also talk about. Apparently we picked the perfect year to start the show as 2024 would rival 1986 as one of the best years for metal releases. Albums from In Vain, Dodsrit, Eternal Storm, Saidan, Amiensus will all be very high on our end of year lists. That Volcandra album was actually one of my picks when it came out. Fantastic album…:)
@@metalandrockzone definitely check out In Vain-Solemn and Amiensus-Reclamation pt1 and pt2. They wanted to actually do it as one album but the record company insisted putting them out separately. Both are even better on vinyl. Saidan is a really cool mix of black metal and decided punk edge to it. If black metal can be fun, Saidan definitely have that covered. Dodsrit is flat out addicting as is Eternal Storm. In Vain however has actually been my cohost and I’s album of the year since the day it was released. That album isn’t just one of the best albums of this year but could be one of the best albums to come out in 4-5 years…sorry for the rambling, nothing I like more than talking metal…lol
Most recent "discovery" for me was Tribulation. Discovery in quotation marks because, yeah, new to me, but probably not to many others. They formed in 2005 and I can't stop listening to them. ^^
Lutharo, Kassogtha and Defacing God are three of my favorite bands that are still fairly new and everything they’ve dropped has been of the highest quality. Highly recommend all three bands!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@metalandrockzone They’re comparable to Arch Enemy I’d say. Their second album, Chasing Euphoria, is a fantastic listen start to finish. Kassogtha are from Sweden and are progressive death metal. Sort of a hybrid of maybe early Opeth and Mastodon. Defacing God is straight up black metal, very comparable to Dimmu Borgir but maybe not as symphonic.
@@metalandrockzone Would also like to give a mention to Emrei’s. Really good symphonic metal band, somewhat like Seven Spires. They only have one album and some singles but they’re really good.
Yes I realised that, a lot of bands been mentioned here in the comments and when I look them up they turn out to be Swedish thrash, very interesting. Will add those bands to my list. Thanks for the tip and for watching
I listened to that entire album last night (lucifer). Interesting. Some of it edges on plain hard rock but it's good. It's well-done, not goofy. I normally listen to much heavier stuff, but I liked it enough to listed to their other material.
Out of these 5 Bands I think Lucifer is the only one that fits my taste. I like 70s/80s metal and rock and power-metal, never been big into the black metal or really any kind of grunting growly vocal style bands. But Lucifer sounds pretty damn good, thanks for sharing!
Yes Lucifer are pretty good, another band I found today but you might know is a band called Castle, sort of old school metal a swell, new album Evil Remains was on my spotify playlist.
I just discoverd this channel and Volcandra is exactly what I was looking for since I'm constantly searching for a mix between black and death metal. Thanks!
Enjoy and thanks for watching, check out also then Kanonefieber and Darkness Ablaze, both great bands, and Hellripper is amazing as well. Well and yes, almost forgot KVAEN
You need to discover Imperial Triumphant. They're Jazz/Black Metal. It feels like Possessed meets Mahavishnu Orchestra. You'll want to listen to Chernobyl Blues.
Maybe a little bit soft in this company. But League Of Distortion is still a great band for the future. Modern, creative and absolutely rebellious. A modern day Accept.
Thank you for the video. I love discovering and listening to new music/bands. I have really been getting into 200 Stab Wounds. Their latest album, 'Manual Manic Procedures' is incredible. I cannot stop listening to it.
Yes 200 Stab Wounds are great, they are on my radar as well so they might feature in the next video! Thanks for watching and check out the Spotify playlist, I am blown away myself every week with how much stuff is on there that I otherwise would have no clue about. Thanks for watching
The death metal...not my thing. But been listening to Lucifer for about 3 years now!!! Awesome band. Also check out the other female fronted stoner/doom metal bands: Ruby the Hatchet Electric Citizen Black Road Mt. Salem... There's a lot more...
I commend you for making a video on this. It's refreshing. Two debut albums that blew me away released this year were Cistvaen and Void Witch. Others who may have a bright future ahead are Witch Ripper, Daeva, Anticreation & Autonoesis.
I've only heard of Lucifer here. But I would say modern debuts after 2010 on: Ne Obliviscaris, Shylmagoghnar, Mariana's Rest, Sulphur Aeon, An Abstract Illusion, Worm, Harakiri for the Sky are some really good ones.
Asenblut is well known to me, I listen to them regularly and saw them live on stage a few times - always 🤘🤘🤘; Tetzel (the tall lead singer) has another new band calld "All for Metal" - the sound there is a little bit like manowar with two singers , not too bad at all.... greets from germany🤘
Yes I am very surprised that somehow this band flew under my radar, will make sure to see them next time they come near Prague. Thanks for the tip on his other band and for watching
Lucifer not metal, but awesome that you gave them plug. Rather deserving references if you are a classic rock head like me. Will definitely explore this band and probably it will grow on me. Danocide is interesting vocals
Rise of the machines is Danicide best song in my opinion one of my all time favorite songs. They are influenced by many bands including children of Bodom
A few newish bands I think everyone should know: *Creatvre /// a band that can't really be classified, but kind of is black, progressive, with so many huge moments. There are also trumpet, trombone, saxophone, keyboards... The 2021 album Eloge De L' Ombre was named album of the year by Metal Hammer. It has the Leprous drummer, It's awesome and one of my favorite albums of all time *Chapel Of Disease /// Dire Straits death metal. Powerful, aggressive, melodic and surprising, it's a great band *Atvm /// Awesome and savage death metal, with amazing drumming, vocals and bass.
wow this is brilliant, all these bands are so unique, listened to them all a bit and I think I might do an episode on just "bands that are doing stuff differently" Thanks a million for this and thanks for watching
@@metalandrockzone So great haha! You're very welcome, and awesome, so happy that this clicked with you! And yeah all of these definitely walk their own, brilliant path. Looking forward to that episode then ;) Cheers, and thanks for your work
Interesting choices, asenblut was the only one I knew but I dig the volcandra's style gotta check them out. To answer your question, I think fire in the distance will be a huge name in melodeath scene. They have a very unique style and the way they utilize synths enables them to create such mystic atmospheres. Highly recommend their latest work. It really scratches my itch
MOLYBARON! Absolutely amazing brand of mixed rock and metal groove with the hint of thrash. Highly recommended - if you haven't heard their Something Ominous, go on and listen to it now!
I've been listening to Lucifer since the first album, when Gary Jennings was in the band. I loved Cathedral and Gary's riffs and it played a part in me getting into them. I'll admit that I haven't enjoyed their other albums as much as the first album, but I feel the newest one is the one I've liked the most since then. I love Entombed, I enjoy Death Breath, although Hellicopters isn't my cup of tea. I had Johanna's previous band The Oath's one album. I wish I had kept it and given it more of a chance. As for the other stuff, I might enjoy it more if I hadn't been listening to Death Metal for 30 years, and everything new didn't have that "been there, done that" feel to me. I'm one of those people that every band I choose to listen to I listen to them because they don't sound like anyone else. If a band sounds like someone else, then I won't bother with them, I don't see the point. That's the problem you eventually run into when you've listened to metal for over 42 years. If I was new to metal they might be bands I'd love to check out. It is refreshing to click on a metal video and not having someone trying to force deathcore, or metalcore, down my throat though.
I hate when someone tries to force metalcore down my throat as well! But I totally get what you are saying, there is not enough original stuff out there, or at least it is hard to find. And to be honest considering that I hear probably 30 bands pr week I never heard before then I am surprised with how much stuff is out there that I never need to hear again. With those bands in this video I feel that at least the add a little bit of extra dimension or energy to something built on old foundations. Thanks for watching
You gotta check out Morphide! Independent metal at its greatest! They're in studio with their second album right now. If they figure out how to market themselves better, they'll be one of the top names in the genre.
Don't know if you're aware of Indian English metal and alternative scene . ok, first of all a BIG thanks for sharing this, I had found 2-3 myself from India but this is just a massive list. Now I have something to do over the weekend!
You should check out King Witch from Scotland (and their older incarnation Firebrand Super Rock), bit of a doom vibe with some thrash and classic elements but the singer Laura is something else, total powerhouse. Back with a new album soon after a hiatus while Laura had a baby.
At 5 m 23 seconds, what band video is that "Hello darkness my old friend"? Is that cover of "The Sound of silence"? It does not look like the Disturbed video cover of that I would love to hear a extreme metal cover of that song. Great channel bro.i am subbed in.
No that is just a gif which I don't really know where is from as such. But totally agree that song in some black or death metal version could be really cool! Thanks for watching and subbing
Saw them live earlier this year or late last year. Amazing band, seeing them again soon. And YES they for sure deserve a spot on a list like this, might include them in my next video. Thanks for watching
yes had them in a video at the start of the year, saw them live in a 50 people gig, it was insane. Seeing them again soon, obviously in a larger venue. Great band
Have you got some recommendations of bands that don't sound like things done before but better? I got over 130 suggestions for far for more bands in the comments so always looking for more
@@metalandrockzone super band, their last two albums are chock full of monsters. Hope you had a blast at their gig, I’m looking forward to the next time they tour over here in the UK. Gutslit (Album: Amputheatre) and Against Evil (Album: End of the Line) are Indian. Blaakyum (Album: Line of Fear) are Lebanese, Acrassicauda (album: Gilgamesh) are Iraqi and Aeternam (Album: Ruins of Empires) are from Canada with the vocalist born in Morocco. There are some great bands from the Middle East and India, and elsewhere for that matter. I could point to you a few more bands if you wish. Lucifer is an awesome band. In the same vein I like Hippie Death Cult and Temptress. Another not so new I’m into lately is Rezn
adding them to my list
Thanks! One of my favourites I have discovered recently is "Face Yourself" from France.
Adding them to my list, thanks
One of my favorite new bands I discovered is Fires in the the Distance this year .
Yes got them on my radar as well, good band
Lutharo, Kassogtha and Defacing God are three of my favorite bands that are still fairly new and everything they’ve dropped has been of the highest quality. Highly recommend all three bands!!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great thanks for the tips, Lutharo sounds good, listening to them now.
There are things happening in Swedish thrash now. Check out the youngsters in Bloodstain, Xion and Eradikated.
Yes I realised that, a lot of bands been mentioned here in the comments and when I look them up they turn out to be Swedish thrash, very interesting. Will add those bands to my list. Thanks for the tip and for watching
Lucifer sounds good. Something different for a change.
Yes solid band, thanks for watching
I listened to that entire album last night (lucifer). Interesting. Some of it edges on plain hard rock but it's good. It's well-done, not goofy. I normally listen to much heavier stuff, but I liked it enough to listed to their other material.
@@RebornThroughHate yes can be good to have some new stuff to clean the palate!
@@metalandrockzone thanks, man
I like the sound of Lucifer. Ill be checking them out
Enjoy and thanks for watching
Do you know about the bands skull fist and mgla@@metalandrockzone
@@metalandrockzoneanother good band to checkout if you aren't aware of them yet is Volfgang Twins they fall under that viking type metal music
Thanks for the tips, i saw mgla live once but need to add the others to my list!
Been a fan of Lucifer since their first album. The others are new to me. Loving the 3 Death Metal bands.
Great, thanks for watching 🤘
Cool list of bands, I knew Lucifer.
thanks for watching
Fit For A King!
Yes, seen that name around, need to add them to my list of bands to check. thanks for watching
I'll definitely check out all these bands... I went to see Greta Van Fleet in concert last week. If you like Led Zeppelin then you will like this band
Yes I know Greta Van Fleet, great band
Out of these 5 Bands I think Lucifer is the only one that fits my taste. I like 70s/80s metal and rock and power-metal, never been big into the black metal or really any kind of grunting growly vocal style bands. But Lucifer sounds pretty damn good, thanks for sharing!
Yes Lucifer are pretty good, another band I found today but you might know is a band called Castle, sort of old school metal a swell, new album Evil Remains was on my spotify playlist.
@@metalandrockzone just gave them a listen, classic riffage with haunting vocals is my style man! Thanks for the recommendations.
@@metalandrockzone Thanks, will check them out. Saw Hellripper a few months back on tour with Abbath, great night!
Volcandra is so great live too. You may like a band called Valdrin from Cincinnati too.
I'm obsessed with Koronus at the moment, the album Sentinel (instrumental) on constant repeat🤘
OK need to check that band out, thanks!
First and last bands got my attention
Yes both bands are great, thanks for watching
You need to discover Imperial Triumphant. They're Jazz/Black Metal. It feels like Possessed meets Mahavishnu Orchestra. You'll want to listen to Chernobyl Blues.
Adding them to my list now, thanks for the tip and for watching
A very upcoming band to look forward to is Bloodstained. Six songs but very ambitious 🤘
added to my (now extensive) list of bands suggested, thanks for the tip and thanks for watching
Thx because of you I discover Lucifer what an amazing band ❤
You are more than welcome! Thanks for watching
Maybe a little bit soft in this company. But League Of Distortion is still a great band for the future. Modern, creative and absolutely rebellious. A modern day Accept.
As a huge Accept fan I welcome any suggestions in this category :) will check them out, thanks for the tip and thanks for watching
Also check out the other female fronted stoner/doom metal bands:
Ruby the Hatchet
Electric Citizen
Black Road
Mt. Salem...
There's a lot more...
Thanks, I know some of them but adding the rest to my list!
I commend you for making a video on this. It's refreshing. Two debut albums that blew me away released this year were Cistvaen and Void Witch. Others who may have a bright future ahead are Witch Ripper, Daeva, Anticreation & Autonoesis.
Thanks for watching, I take notes of all these bands now and will listen!
@@metalandrockzone hope you find something you like. Keep up the great work
Didnt care for the rest, but happy to see mention of Lucifer. I loved The Oath and was sad when that ended, but Lucifer continued that sound.
yes very good band
I've only heard of Lucifer here. But I would say modern debuts after 2010 on: Ne Obliviscaris, Shylmagoghnar, Mariana's Rest, Sulphur Aeon, An Abstract Illusion, Worm, Harakiri for the Sky are some really good ones.
Thanks for the tips, saw Harakiri for the Sky live, they were good. Will check the rest out, thanks for watching
Not even like Doom Metal?
Rise of the machines is Danicide best song in my opinion one of my all time favorite songs. They are influenced by many bands including children of Bodom
Yes that song is pretty good I agree. Looking forward to listening more to Danicide. thanks for watching
Thanks for the recommendation, my friend! Great vídeo!
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching
5 x 100% thank you! Just beautiful.
thanks for watching
My new discovery are BATTLE BEAST and BROTHERS OF METAL
Adding them to my list, thanks
A few newish bands I think everyone should know:
*Creatvre /// a band that can't really be classified, but kind of is black, progressive, with so many huge moments. There are also trumpet, trombone, saxophone, keyboards... The 2021 album Eloge De L' Ombre was named album of the year by Metal Hammer. It has the Leprous drummer, It's awesome and one of my favorite albums of all time
*Chapel Of Disease /// Dire Straits death metal. Powerful, aggressive, melodic and surprising, it's a great band
*Atvm /// Awesome and savage death metal, with amazing drumming, vocals and bass.
wow this is brilliant, all these bands are so unique, listened to them all a bit and I think I might do an episode on just "bands that are doing stuff differently" Thanks a million for this and thanks for watching
@@metalandrockzone So great haha! You're very welcome, and awesome, so happy that this clicked with you! And yeah all of these definitely walk their own, brilliant path. Looking forward to that episode then ;) Cheers, and thanks for your work
Check out The Funeral Procession. I think they scared Opeth out of hiding.
Will do, thanks for the tip and for watching
Interesting choices, asenblut was the only one I knew but I dig the volcandra's style gotta check them out. To answer your question, I think fire in the distance will be a huge name in melodeath scene. They have a very unique style and the way they utilize synths enables them to create such mystic atmospheres. Highly recommend their latest work. It really scratches my itch
yes I see a few people mention Fires in the distance, need to check them out, thanks for the tip and thanks for watching
The way I find new metal bands is that I taught my children about metal and they go away and bring me new music to try.
thats a good way to do it, I discovered a lot through my older sister back in the days, stuff that my friends back then didn't even know existed.
I'm gonna check out Cryptic Hatred, they sound awesome! To keep you busy, I recommend When Plagues Collide from Belgium, they're absolutely bonkers!
yes give their last album a few spins, good stuff. Will check out When Plagues Collide, thanks for watching
Definingly going to check Lucifer out.
Enjoy and thanks for watching
Weltenbrandt from Austria is highly recommended!!! Groza from Germany too. Both have their own view on (post)- Black Metal....
Both added to my growing list, thanks for the tip and for watching
MOLYBARON!
Absolutely amazing brand of mixed rock and metal groove with the hint of thrash.
Highly recommended - if you haven't heard their Something Ominous, go on and listen to it now!
Cool, will add them to my list, thanks for watching
Danicide is awesome and a cool guy
🤘
Lucifer it's a hell of a band! glad you finally got to know 'em!
Yes they are amazing
Hm, rejected a free Arsenblut ticket some weeks ago. But Lucifer, new to me, great. Thanks for that
So I take it that Asenblut is not your thing!
You gotta check out Morphide! Independent metal at its greatest! They're in studio with their second album right now. If they figure out how to market themselves better, they'll be one of the top names in the genre.
Sounds pretty good, adding them to my list. Thanks for watching
SIDEREAN !
adding them to my list, thanks for watching
I'm stuck on the metal that came out of reading Pennsylvania. Black crown initiate and rivers of nihil.
need to check them out, thanks for watching
Nice. Like it
thanks for watching
If you are not listening to Infected Rain you are missing out on one of the very best bands in metal.
Saw them live last summer, good band. Thanks for watching
I loooove Infected Rain!
Denicide is amazing! Carlos from Brazil.
Bom dia Brazil! Yes Danicide has some edge to it. thanks for watching
Good stuff … thank you!

ok, first of all a BIG thanks for sharing this, I had found 2-3 myself from India but this is just a massive list. Now I have something to do over the weekend!
Invicta is hiding out in Kitchener, Ontario. For fans of Children of Bodom and Skeletonwitch. Their 2nd album is in my all time top 10.
Thanks for the tip, will check them out!
I love Lucifer!!!. More bands like Starbenders, SpiritWorld, Devil Electric, The Dogs or the spanish band Bala.
Spiritworld I saw live, amazing band. The rest goes to my growing list of stuff I need to check. Thanks for watching and the tips

Great, hope you will enjoy!
You should check out King Witch from Scotland (and their older incarnation Firebrand Super Rock), bit of a doom vibe with some thrash and classic elements but the singer Laura is something else, total powerhouse. Back with a new album soon after a hiatus while Laura had a baby.
Will check them, name sounds familiar so might have come across them. Thanks for the tip and for watching
Lucifer Yes! The Cosmic Doom band REMINA deserves a hard look

At 5 m 23 seconds, what band video is that "Hello darkness my old friend"?
Is that cover of "The Sound of silence"?
It does not look like the Disturbed video cover of that
I would love to hear a extreme metal cover of that song.

@@metalandrockzone super band, their last two albums are chock full of monsters. Hope you had a blast at their gig, I’m looking forward to the next time they tour over here in the UK. Blaakyum (Album: Line of Fear) are Lebanese, Acrassicauda (album: Gilgamesh) are Iraqi and Aeternam (Album: Ruins of Empires) are from Canada with the vocalist born in Morocco.
