Hey Sean. I have a donner kit. You can actually cut the symbols by grabbing them. But you have to hit a very precise spot where there is a switch on the front edge. I bought them as a result of you saying how much it improved your rhythm for guitar. Indeed it is true.
Oh nice! Thanks for the tip Larry :) Glad you're enjoying the kit!
@@seandaniel23 almost like a mute or if you grab a cymbal in full swing and and tone...? I am almost about to order one the just record on a small Tascam machine I just purchased, I want to lay down drum tracks (I do everything myself guitar, bass, drums, ( I sound like real narcissistic or tokenistic, asshole like but they are projects just for myself haha) Anyway Thanks, for the demo I will give it some consideration and noticed you play southpaw? Lefty ... ? Or a mix ambidextrous,.... skateboarders back in the day would call it goofy foot! I'm right righted and but play hockey left handed...(only thing I do lefty, ... 3 of my my best friends in high school were left handed so I always notice this.. and I once taught music at our local music store... I always notice Thanks again Great demo and look forward seeing future videos! Take care!
@@tosborne8062same I record electric guitar, electric bass, this drum kit, and learning piano rn. I would SO HIGHLY recommend this drum kit like it’s actually so good! I’m very impressed with my donner gear! The drum kit is amazing, the bass guitar is also dinner and is amazing, and lastly I have the donner tutti love chorus pedal for guitar and once again amazing although the cord is sold separately for the pedal which was annoying cuz I had to wait another 3 days but worth it
399€ on Amazon....I think I'm going for it ... But I wonder ,can it take a double kick pedal? I like the dynamic of double pedals ... Nice video , very clear explanation 😃, thanks for posting ...
Sounds really decent for the price! Definitely using it as a midi controller is the way to go. There are actually recorded kits that sound great these days. The only thing electronic kits are really missing now is convincing cymbal sound with highs that sound like the real thing. Kind of like the struggle IR acoustic guitar systems have -- they do a great job of sounding like a mic, until you get to the high-end sparkle. Still pretty impressive though.
Yeah the midi component is the real star here
If I got an e kit I would hook it up to kontakt anyway tbh
Programming drums has made me want to learn them lol
Do you recommend the Updated Donner DED 200 over Alesis Nitro Mesh?
When I started really learning guitar bout 5-8 yrs ago I used a ton of your theory videos and other tricks, I need less taught guidance these days, but I still appreciate the gear reviews and the YT shorts are also a nice touch. Thank you for all the lessons
Sean, thanks for all your tips and tricks! You are a very good musician. Thanks for the in-depth review of this e-drum kit. I just ordered it and looking forward to getting to know the kit and playing! Please continue to entertain the world with your talents! Thank you!
Thanks so much! Congrats on the kit and let me know what you think!
It’s amazing how far electric drums have improved.
Wow! You are so talented. I have a few Donner products and they don't disappoint for the price. Sounds lie a great way to get out the inner Animal without driving the wife crazy.
Thanks so much!
yah, it's great you can control the volume. The main drawback for me with real drums is that they are so LOUD.
I got exactly what I wanted from this video. I thought the top left symbol was the high hat I didn’t realize you could hold the left pedal down for a real high hat sound
A revelation this dude is a percussion lover🎉
It's the best!
Great video, Sean, thank you! I just bought this kit for me and my two kids and I am very happy with it.
Can I ask what video camera and sound you used for this video? Great quality without looking cheap-digital. Thanks!
you have to pinch the very end of the cymbal to get the choking mechanism to work
How do I upload an actual drum sound to my electric kit? Is there like a website that I connect my computer to my drum kit?
Does it send the velocity via MIDI?
We just bought one plus an amp for $250. Also the crash do choke if you pinch the edge.
SSD 5.5 free almost works out of the box for this kits, and learns everything bar the cymbal grab. Cakewalk Bandlab might be able to do the channel after touch controller. Checking it out. We will get PC midi to do cymbal grab on this kit soon enough. It can be done. I can see the data in reaper when I grab them, but it cant read it yet.
I use MPC and I’d try to link it to a mute group and midi trigger it. Mpc software does a lot of velocity based midi stuff im interested in this kit so imma try it
Enjoyed listening to the AI-generated song again. So fun!
Thanks so much!
Awesome video man, very instructional. What type of drum plugin did you use for this. And does it work for Fl Studio?
Is there any electric kit same feel as acoustic drum set? Like when you play soft it’s light, when you play heavy it’s loud.
can you program the high hat pedal to sound like a second bass drum to have double bass?
The Doom Metal kit auto assigns it from what I've heard, not sure if you can set it yourself on others or not as I don't a set myself
Any (well most, besides kits for kids to learn on...) more or less An electronic kit with a "bass drum tower" as opposed to just pedal.... YOU can use any, or MOST double kick ghost pedals
Do you think this kit could be rearranged to a left handed configuration?
For sure. However you want to set the pads up on the frame
@@seandaniel23 I've been wanting a kit like this for a while now. Thanks for the reply 👊
How did you connect the 2 crashes plus the ride?
Strange that they call this series the same as previous one. Interesting does they increase triggers and triggers foams quality ? As for previous one issues with triggers started really fast trigger foams literately became the dust.
why is it so small
are their bigger versions?
You look like pewdiepie lol love the video. I’m in the market for one right now but I don’t have much of a budget. Hopefully I find something soon!
Thanks so much for watching and best of luck!!!
What is the driver to be able to use it as a midi? Ive connected directly to the computer via USB but its not working.
Is this loud enough for an indoor church environment?
Well it'll be plugged into a PA or amp, so it just depends on what kinds of PA you have, but you'll be able to turn it up as loud as the PA :)
I think I want a good e-drum kit which sounds good enough to not have to deal with VSTs, just record it as is. Would make our laying trax and jamming sessions to where we could get more done. I like synthetic/electronic drum sounds, but I want one where the acoustic drum patches' toms don't sound silly and fake. My Nitro Mesh is satisfactory to me re the cymbals and snares, but for some reason none of the toms are realistic.
Bro, can it be used for recording studio songs ?
Does anyone know how to get the hi-hat to sound right. I play it lightly and it still sounds like im slamming it like a crash cymbal.
Did you have your foot on the hi hat pedal?
Hey I am 6”3’ and I am looking for a drum set that wouldn’t hurt my back too much would you recommend this set for me?
i’m 6,4 and have this kit so you’ll be good
My dinner barely works after a year all the toms stopped working not recommended the snare stopped working after 3 months
Anyone use the Coolmusic DD8 in comparison to this? No reviews on youtube at all for the DD8 and it seems to have the edge..
I’m curious as to how tall you are. I’m 6’ and want to know if the kit will fit me well.
6'1. You can also spread them out a little more than how I have it setup.
I do have one too havn’t open it yet lol😂
Have you tried Aerodrums ? I like it but having to have the bright light in your eyes is a pain. I heard the new Aerodrums is out that uses infrared cant wait.
I haven't! I've always wanted to though!
Is anyone gonna talk about that Song 50 track literally just being 5 More Hours by Chris Brown 😅
I want it I want it I need it I want it
Sean, your playing lefthanded, right handed, what!!!.....
Natural lefty!
Garageband ahh tone
If youre on the fence get the 200 Max you wont be disappointed. About $140 more.
the problem with the donner ones is that they break fast and the company has terrible customer so good luck fixing your issue
Not my experience with donner at all...their customer service has been fantastic when I've had to deal with them
Hey
do you know I'm copying you
Her voice is basic, but your drumming is great
There is another video on UA-cam where the cymbals can be choked...why are they different...they were supposed to be the Donner 200 kit
Because he is using it as a MIDI control surface. The sound isn't being generated by the control head. It's being generated on the DAW via MIDI note. Once the note has been sent you can't stop it. But you can add a choke effect in the studio later when mixing if that helps.
They can be chocked they just have to be grabbed in a certain spot
@@MarcG7424Not when they are being used to trigger a VST drum kit.
I don't know what you think sounds good but, they are awful!
I got mine for Christmas and after 1 day, the headphone jack went out, followed be one of the output jacks. .My wife and I reached out to donner several times with no answer. Great Christmas gift? Not! I own several donner items, but they'll never get another dime from me.
Never seen a right handed drummer play with his hands left handed?
I’m a lefty
You are not that good
Hey Sean, Great video. I’m not a drummer but I’m considering buying one of these for when drummers come over. How does this feel when you play compared to an acoustic/ regular drum set?
It's not bad, but the weight and feel isn't the same. The main thing I notice is the snare and toms are kind of small so you have to hit them very precise. Still it's a great low priced drum set. I got it to learn drums and really pleased with it overall.
do you know if I can use my own kick pedal on the bass drum?
Yup!
Im still interested. But a keyboard or synth might be a better option for me because they are cheaper to get a good model and a lot smaller.
Yeah just depends on what you're looking for! Both would be solid additions!
I've been talking with a friend and i have decided on two options for a midi keyboard. They are the arturai keylab essential mk3 and the novation launchkey mk3. Both 49 key because they have all the knobs and pads n whotnot. They have a bit less keys than i would like but they have good software. Getting more keys isn't that big of a deal in my opinion when having some keys is what i need in the first place. And a keyboard at this price range allows me to have a bit more cash in my wallet for other gear or software for daws. So anyway thanks for making this video as quickly as you did after telling me about it. Hopefully in the future i will have a larger workspace and i can get one of these drum kits. And thanks again for being so helpful for everyone that you can. Such a respectable dude.
It's a solid kit. I've always wanted to learn to play drums and bought it. The instructions are great and it's easy to put together. It sounds awesome through headphones. I ran it through a small guitar amp and it can't handle the bass of the kick drum. I'm going to try it through my bass amp. If that doesn't work will try to find a used drum amp. I'm curious how it will sound running through a decent MAC. A similar kit 20 years ago would have run at least 1200 bucks for sure.
You can turn down the bass on the module, same with the treble if you need to
I just ordered this. Will probably use my bass amp too.
Shoot I was looking at kits like this a decade ago they still were $1,500 or so.
@@hackersarchangel wow. Yah, I'm enjoying mine. It's great for learning. I wish the tom and snare heads were a bit bigger, but it's very compact and easy to move around like it is.
A full range PA amp / speaker would be best.
This was a very detailed and helpful video Forreal
Great review - Hey Sean, does it have a jazz set where the snare drum sounds like using brushes?
If Dexter Morgan was a drummer lol
That AI song sounds like it came straight out of Adventure Time.
Thought about selling my kit a couple times when I was scraping bottom but so glad I didn't. 😂
Got them three years ago and my greatest stress reliever. 😎
Using a Fender 10G amp in the spare room and wondering what would be a good step up amp.
Can u plug this into an amp if need be ?
Yup!
Is it just the output volume being low? I worry that the sound will get drowned out by rubber/plastic tapping
I have yet to buy my first kit, and my only concern is that if I am to play on an acoustic kit after getting used to electronic, would I be able to play well? Or do I need a high-end electronic set to be able to transition easily?
It not the bat that makes the hitter, practice wherever you can get it brother, you’ll be fine, I just ordered one, getting here Friday, I used to play drums and take lessons years ago, stop but I got the itch to dust off the sticks
Can I control this to an old role an old roland controller for the better sound?
I never drummed in my life , i realy want to give it a go sould this kit be for me ?
Ok how do you get All those different drum sounds on the kit like that
Can these be set up lefty with customizing? Thx 😊
The American Pewdiepie lol great drum kit!
all i can hear is your stick hitting the plastic. how do you make the cymbal not sound plastic?
I believe you’ll get more realistic sounds if you wear headphones or in ear monitors
Dude are you lefty ? Cuz you play right handed guitars.
Yup. Natural lefty that learned guitar righty
Did the speaker come with it ?
How ab less talking and play the drums lol
I mean, he's *reviewing* the kit, which requires him to talk about it. There's so many other videos you can watch of people just drumming. I don't know what else to tell ya 🤷♂️
Just ordered a Donner 200 after looking at all the E - drums, most natural sounding of the affordable kits, & needed something very portable , my studio acoustic set is big so not moveable
