This was so good! It's great to be able to see and contextualize these examples in a way that we normally encounter them. I almost find it easier to understand what went wrong this way instead of "don't do this so this won't happen". Thank you!
Hi Karen! What I kept hearing was, "Diana, what you tend to do is...." Lol! I felt like Karen had been watching me sculpt last week 😂 This video was incredibly thorough and ALL points of frustration were discussed and demonstrated. Super helpful
After watching this video, I know now the mistakes that past nail techs did on my nails and to practice avoiding those mistakes on my clients. Thank you, Karen.
I love listening to your videos! I see them as you pop up on the screen, even if I need it or not. I have no problem with stiletto, at all.. I still end up seeing the whole thing, because I love the way you teach! So I wanna see the demo and listen to you. Thanks 🙏🏼 ❤
Absolutely LOVE how all of you explain the process so well no matter what it is! Other than awesome products, THIS is what makes me choose your company over others! Grateful bc ya'll put a TON of your time into every single process from beginning to end!! I've learned quite a bit from all of you! 💞💞
I have never actually done a Stiletto nail, just don't have the people who want them... But I started thinking about trying them myself. Where I got stumped was filling them. In my head it was exactly this - how do we rebalance and shorten them? How do we make the wide part of the tip narrow, with out losing our sides... Beause the extentions are not solid, it's hollow underneath, so we'll eventually file through... My brain is just always thinking 2 steps a head.. Thank you for this video, you would not believe how many videos I had to search through, before I found this one. No one else wanted to address a fill... I wasn't even sure what you were gonna talk about, it was a - well I watched everything else... And this one turns out to be the perfect video, the one I've been looking for... lmao It's in my saved play list, I am sure I'll be watching it, a few dozen times Thanks for sharing 😊😊
I learned so much from this video!! Thank you so much for the information 🥰 I am a diy nail enthusiast and just recently started building extensions instead of doing natural nail overlays. I wasn’t completely happy with the look of my stiletto nails because of the reason you just described! Lightbulbs are going off in my brain!!! 😁 since building extensions using forms my nails are so much prettier and I’m way more satisfied. This makes so much sense. Thank you thank you thank you 🙏 🥰
Thank you karen so much this has really helped. I love how you showed different grow out stages and what to use as a shape guide. I only wear stilettos but haven't done them on myself because I was having all of these issues. Can't wait to try sculpting again with this new knowledge 😊
Excellent! Thank you! I worked in dentistry years ago and we had a lubrication that we sprayed into the handpiece daily. Helped clean and also kept the bearings lubricated so they dont screw up and burn up. These handpieces have no lubrication.nso I wondered HOW to keep them clean. Thx for showing.
Great information and very helpful! I only use gel and not acrylic, but it's all the same process. Shaping and filing was a huge issue for me with stiletto shape nails, and definitely took me a long time to understand. I'm still trying to perfect that technique. It seems like it would be so easy but in reality it takes a lot of practice. Especially getting the lower arch correct. I so appreciate your videos and expertise!!!
Wow thank you so much for explaining this! I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong by the 3rd fill on my stiletto sets. Makes so much more sense now.
When I tend to pinch closer to the finger, my form gets crumpled and I have a wonky underside. This video will help me with my forms no matter which shape I do. Thank you❤❤❤
Thank you Karen for the very informative video❤❤, so does this mean you can't really do a rebalance with this shape, just a fill one time after full set?
Depending on the nails, if you are shortening and re-shaping, you may need to clip off and re-sculpt after a few fills. If you aren't shortening and re-shaping, you can rebalance the product and make sure the arch is properly placed to support the length.
My natural nails have a strong C curve and I've been trying to let them grow out and shape them in a tapered squared / short ballerina. Maybe this is why I'm struggling...
Thank you so much for posting! So for people who have wonky uneven skin under the nail and you have to cut and shape the form to fit that skin, can you still use this form shape? Will it mess up the C curve of the nail form?
Are you talking about the hyponicium under the free edge? If so, I have to custom cut some of my forms to comfortably fit- I haven’t had any issues creating long stilettos. I just make sure to try to pinch the form to itself the whole length of the form(part that sits under our nail&finger) or as least as much as I can, wider fingers make it harder to pinch the form together&stay stuck to itself. Is any of this making sense? 😂
@@Sparkleglittrr3 yes the hyponicium. I get that and eponicium (not sure of spelling) mixed up. Yup it makes sense. I’m the same way having to custom cut forms for some of my fingers as well. Thanks for the explanation. It does help and it made sense. I really appreciate it. 😊👍
Love this!!! I have a random question though. I bought “I spill it” glitter and “dragon fruit” glitter. They look identical- both hot pink with gold flecks. I thought “I spill it” has more a warmer slightly purpleish tone vs hot pink- basing this off the website pictures! Is it possible a “dragon fruit” glitter was mislabeled/mistaken for “I spill it” and then sent to me?
The two glitters are similar, but looking at the swatches I have in front of me, dragon fruit is the one that has a more purple undertone. If you message us on IG I can try and send a video of the two.
@YoungNailsInc unfortunately I live under a rock these days and don't use ig, however since I start cosmo school may 2nd I should probably start a page dedicated to my work... I'd love to see my progression from start to finish. So I'll attempt to throw something together and message you there if I can figure out how! 😂 thanks for the quick response!!!
It sucks to watch tutorials on mistakes when you use a trainer hand. You are not working around natural movement, skin, cuticle, side wall, different nail bed shapes.
Your visual, speech, speed, and rhythm is perfect. Learned a lot. Thank you.

Wow all this time and now I understand why my stiletto fills look funky on the sides!! I’ll start clipping off after 5 weeks. Thank you Karen ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Girl, SAME!!!!! I really thought I could fill them forever lmao 😅

This was so helpful!! You really helped me see why my nails always looked so chunky. Great visuals, and excellent explanation. Thanks Karen!!
All these things LITERALLY happen to me EVERY time I do my nails! Thank you so so much for this video!

This makes sooooo much sense now. I had a problem with keeping my stilletos past 3 fills and now i know why lol more high maintenance
Just what I was looking for, right when I needed it. Karen thank you!!!
I currently use tips but have been wanting to start with forms. This video has given me the motivation to try. Thank u for all this info🥰

Thank you Karen ❤❤❤
Excellent tuition , thx you 💋
Thanks again I really learnt alot
Thank you. Great information.
❤thank you so much 🙏
After I just tried them for the first time today and took them off cuz the shaping turned into Edward Scissorhands
Yayyy this is great ❤❤

You can still create a stiletto on these nails. When you customize the forms, they should fit right up under the nail or around the hyponychium.

Is there really no chance to do rebalance on overfiled sides (as you showed on your thumb)?
To maintain the proper structure, you would want to clip off the free edge and re-sculpt with a tighter pinch to get that proper c-curve.
