DiResta: Stacking Stools
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 тра 2013
- In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PT), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy makes a set of interlocking stacking stools perfect for small spaces. They look like they were made with a CNC tool but it's just a little DiResta band saw magic.
For more info on this video, tools, materials, sketchbook images, and Jimmy's notes on the build, check out this post on MAKE: blog.makezine.com/2013/05/15/d...

The stacking + bandsaw + router thing was one of those "How didn't think of this?" moments! Amazing as always!
For your spray-paint pattern-marking method alone, you deserve a Nobel Prize . . . at least the UA-cam Award for Instructional video.
The entire time I was like how will these stack? Then at the end my mind was blown
me too. this is literally out of the box thinking
i literally just shouted "YES!" when this video popped up in my youtube feed. haven't even finished watching it yet, and i'm already psyched.
Thank you!!! yes i have been using this one for long time to transfer shapes
Thank you !!! i am to accustom to just digging into the wood... maybe this will be the year i star with a CNC
Collin and Kip brought me here. Jimmy keeps me here. the ultimate channel: Kip, Collin, and Jimmy
I feel so buzzed whenever i watch direstas videos.
Always scratching my head during... then the "ah-ha" moment during the end. Thanks!
Right? This old house meets AWESOMENESS!!!!!
Super cool stool Jimmy. This one is now on the project list. Love the Making It podcast and your vids, even the ones from Hammered! Love your work
Diresta puts me in trouble when trying to study
my hands get splinters whenever I work with woods without gloves. real respect to this guy!
Awesome. Im thinking of making an outdoor set from Cedar. See, who needs a fancy cnc router or laser cutter when you have a bandsaw. You're the man, Jimmy.
great to hear this , thank you !
Excellent as always Jimmy!

I know a school of underprivileged children that could sure use stools like that The children sit on onion sacks on concrete floor even in the winter time. There is around 40-60 children in each classroom that should have maybe 15-20 desks in them. These stools would be wonderful for keeping them from getting sick. Thank you for demonstrating them.
simply a genius of making..great jimmy
He works so fast. ITS AMAZING.
Make: come for weekend projects, stay for diresta
Great project!! Congratulation!!
Great work like always
Thank you Jimmy. It will go to good use.

Great Design!
More Diresta!
Awesome stacking idea...
Great job, thanks for share.
one word for you, AWESOME!
I swear one of these days I'll get back to work, boss.
You sir, are a genius.
I would add a handle hole in the seat, and round over the top edge, but still brilliant. Besides, what we do with the idea is what makes it ours. Cheers.
By far one of the most entertaining woodworking videos I've see. Hella cool design. Plans?
best one yet.
Nice work.
Excellent !
Amazing!
Another, much easier way to stack stools is to not flush ones toilet and let the stools stack up on their own.
But seriously, another interesting video and great idea shared by MAKE.
You are amazing..!
amazing!!!
So clever design
wow! I just love watching your videos. every second was worthwhile
I like the sound of the hammer when it's sped up.
awesome to watch others work
ooooooohhhh! they are stools! i thought they where stacking tools :D
I did too I got a little bit confused near the end until I looked at the title a few more times and realized it was stools
Troy Schmidt yeah, its weird how words can play tricks on you like that....
MUCH better when the stackers (stacking stools) are painted or stained. :)
Tanner saslow
Incredible how fast you can hit with a hammer ;) Nice idea
@-@ Watching you work makes me want try to do the same with my dad's tools.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH I've got it now, at the end... very clever...

Nice Design.
SPETTACOLO!!!
Brains and talent equals creativity....
Very Nice.
Thats alot of work
Very cool
one long hole for the hands on top of the chair to take/grab?
You build fast!
The way he used the table saw after the cuts on the mitre saw is how I use my table saw whenever I can. Sometimes I can't for obvious reason but when I can I prefer to. I just feel so much safer because I am side on and can more of the blade ect. Come to think of it I should just get a panel saw instead of a new table saw.
os mestres da marcenaria. ..show
This is exactly how all Ashley Furniture upholstery frames are made.
this guy works really really fast
Nice design! Did you sharpen the corners where the tabs slotted in, or did you radius the receiving slots?
i liked the spray paint technique
Nice!
Nice.
Here's an idea. Maybe each alternate corner can be shaped like a generic jig saw piece and interlock with the next when you want to make a table out of them.
I wish the template was available I'd love to try and make some of these!!
Jimmy DiResta Do you (a) purchase OEM Dewalt batteries, or (b) recondition them, or (c) use an aftermarket provider (either rebuild or non-OEM innards)? I'd love to know your favorite source, since I'm nearing another cycle of battery replacement. Thx!
Awesome video as always Jimmy. What camera/software do you use to create these?
the piece is not my style but defently yours... and that i love.
what router model are you using ?
JD: Who taught you all this?
5:17 blew my mind.
If this was told ,it would'nt be Jimmy Diresta!!!
