- In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PT), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta ("Dirty Money," "Hammered," "Against the Grain," "Trash for Cash") lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy turns some birch branch slices into a table.

Amazing work as always! What impresses me is that Jimmy's videos show way more usable and enjoyable content that some of these others who seem intent on hearing their own voices and seeing their pictures in the camera screen! Jimmy shows more in 5 minutes that the rest do in 25 minutes!!

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seems to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
I have to admit jimmydiresta I was impressed at a minute in. You are so talented and creative. Thanks for sharing with the world.
This is gorgeous. And I really do love the contrast between the metal legs and the wood top. I like it as it is. Bravo!
there is always an idea of diresta, it is not only beautiful but wonderful, enjoy it.
Your efficiency with a hand saw is astounding!
What a talent, If I wasn't such a old gal (61) Id love to take classes from you... God has blessed you with such a talent, thanks for sharing... Makes my heart sing when I see such things...
Every episode I'm entertained and incredibly impressed by your processes. I hope one day to a master of an art like you are.
I think this is my favorite DiResta project.
I look forward to these videos. Jimmy, you're a true craftsman!
nie mogę wyjść z podziwu. Mistrz Świata i tyle i mówię tu o całej twórczości
AWESOME TABLE AND I FREAKIN DIG ALL YOUR VIDEOS!!!!
that's a lot of layers of epoxy and birch wood. gotta love the determination
Bravo Di Resta! Bel lavoro!!
The log is 7 - 8 inches, table saw only will cut 3 inches. I could use a band saw but if you ever tried to cut an odd shape on the band saw you'll find it is not safe. That is why i use a hand saw.
Hand saws are made very sharp and are more useful then one would expect. thank you all for watching and commenting.
Absolutely beautiful! Keep em comin'
What's most impressive to me is that you cut all the slices by hand... that's baller
Unbelievable skills as always.
Thank you for sharing.
So glad I found your channel, Folk Art .
Wow man, this is my favorite so far ( of what I've seen), stellar design.
WHAT A STUNNING TABLE GREAT JOB
Love the combination of natural and industrial, makes for a great finish.
Jimmy DiResta is an off the chains, mad genius! The only thing missing is maniacal laugh at the end. "MUAH! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!" Seriously, cool table.
Great table; the metal legs give it a contemporary feel that would be a hit in any showroom.
Well done! Thanks for posting!
looks fabulous. well done
Awesome. You make the coolest stuff.
Bella, straordinariamente bella, complimenti!
i LOVE this, its absolutely brilliant
this is the only time i think he went for the easy way out... this table could have been so much nicer if he had skipped the metal part... and made the legs and all in wood. maybe pear wood or something red
+blake krajewski Not that I agree with him, but he was talking about the legs, not the table surface. Personally I think the legs look kinda nice.
+PrimyFritzellz AKA MrThewowplayer it is a modern industrial look, which is not meant to have that traditional all wood look.
***** Personal preferences aren't objective facts.
+Derek Richline Pallet wood and everything made of it for interiors looks bad. That one looks good. That's a difference.
Best make video i've seen in a while!
Looks damn good Jimmy!!
SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I start same kind of project, but cut this round peaces to hexagons because many of them broken by cracks. I m very impressed how you finish all projects, not drop it in the middle, as i do.
Love the sounds in this vid!
You always impress me mate!! Wow
Very cool! Great video!
1:40 Without sawdust would be better, I mean using just transparent epoxy, my opinion. That way you can see the bark.
I think so to
+Krish Patel (Krishpanze gaming) I think it was partly because it would use so much epoxy if not diluted with sawdust
yeha your probably right
+Dennis Sea thats problly why so he would not have to as much epoxy
+Juan Carlos Barradas
Also, if he used clear epoxy he'd still have to sand it and it would take away the clear that would allow for seeing the bark. :-( Not sure how to go about having it be all nice and clear without having to sand it.
Dude that is an awesome table. I want one now...
That was awesome!
In the notes for the MAKE blog post (see link in the description), Jimmy explains that it was to get a bit of a workout and because of bandsaw safety concerns.
Great inspiration. Thank You!
Fantastic work
it's very nice table, i'm enjoyed your work
Well there you go, as usual Im amazed at his work!! Hes truly a Mechanical Marvel. Engineer...whatever you call it hes amazing. Im really baffled why some big cable net work have not signed him?
watching these videos only makes me wish i had a workshop full of tools
Very nice table and work. :)
i have lots of respect for this man
Beautiful!!
he really really needs his own channel!
Great job!!
love ur vids Jim!!!
not only a maker, but a showman
magic making something as beautiful as that table out of an old log you are a magician
nice craftmanship!!!
I like this very much!
Super excited
gorgeous!!!
watching these videos inspires me to get off my lazy ass and make something awesome even though I know I'm nowhere near talented enough to make something like this lol nice job!
Very good! Brazil thanks!
I agree with the other comments, the legs leave a lot to be desired and seem like a quick after thought. The top is a wonderful piece, when it was first removed from the mould, I thought, its horrible! Once the sanding was done and the final layer of resin, it turned out lovely.
Forget the negative comments, those are the people who don’t know what end of the hammer to use. The table is awesome
i do mostly commissions. but i plan i doing the market in the spring
Very cool, my friend.
Jimmy, You are truly amazing :D
that's just beautiful.
It has a bit of a polka-dot feel to it. That looks real cool!
beautifulll , he's the best!
Pretty dam slick!!
Halfway through I was pretty sure this was going to be hideous, but the end result was pretty cool. :)
Hola, te doy un me gusta por el proceso de trabajo. Saludos desde Ecuador.
awesome! just awesome!
Legendary status! I want his skills!
Great job, thanks for share your video.
work of art
The texture kinda makes it look like one of those oldschool, vinyl tablecloths that grandmas commonly have.
Really Jimmy..you are a GENIUS..!!
Greetings from Argentine.! Steve.
Sei un idolo! Complimentoni!!!!!
OK - I know this is an old video, but I just saw it and loved it. Here's a thought that may prove helpful. I know the top had to be routed down about 1/4" due to the epoxy soaking into the wood unevenly. In hindsight (always 20/20), sealing the wood slices with poly, shellac, or maybe even epoxy itself in advance may have solved the problem.
Like smith you are a great carpenter.
It's very cool!
Very cool. Looks like giant bubble-wrap!
Awesome and inspirational ;)
To slices from a log on a bandsaw, build a cradle/sled to hold the log. Safe and easy. But, handsawing is great, too!
Outstanding
very creative and good video
This Table is awasome! There is something that this man can't do???
love ya jimmy.
The logs are really pretty
Really cool table. =D
before you spread that plastic down what did you spray on the framing below it? I have a farmhouse table that the wood has spread apart and now I want to use some epoxy or urethane to fill the gaps and I figure the easiest way would be to build a frame and set the table in upside down it then pour in the filler product. the gaps are up to an 8th inch would you use epoxy over urethane?
parabéns seus trabalhos são lindos.
excellent man.
i want that table so much its so nice
I realize this is an old video, however how did you get that last corner with your router planing jig with less and less of a guidance level to work with?
2:42 I love how he took a moment to caress it
Whatever turns you on I suppose
trabajador , ingenioso , guapo ,buen editor y creativo
hay algo que usted no pueda hacer ?
me encantan sus vídeos 👏👏👍👍
Muy buena mesa !
You are my hero.. if I could do this every day for a living I would!!!
Aaron Robitaille ya right... its hard fucking work.... you wouldn't last 10 mins, let alone 10 hours
Uhm thanks for that rudeness you have no clue who I am or what I've studied in my life and the best part is I don't have to even fucking tell you to prove anything. Have a lovely day.
Exellent!
