It's the inflation on a car due to drift popularity. Also called "scene tax" where you use to be able to buy something relatively cheap but the "scene" drives up the price for no reason. For example, where i live, Subaru's are really expensive. You can't get a WRX for less than $10,000 US regardless of the year unless its been in a ditch or close to 300k miles. Even then it would only be $7500. But if i visit my family in another state you can find the same exact car for $5000 in great condition because there isn't that scene tax. And the reason i say mini trucks is because examples like a Nissan hardbody sometimes come with a variant of a KA24+5 speed which is shared with some 240sx (american version of a 180sx), Toyota pickups/tacomas/hilux' come with a 22re which is the same engine family as what the rwd celicas had and some old Mazda trucks even came with rotaries.
Not entirely for some maybe the s13 only slightly in europe but the Omega, e36 and I would still recommend the e46 BMW and Lexus can all be picked up for very cheap in Europe and it all comes down to how much you want to repair starting off. Just depends where you are really a mustang of any variant in the UK for example has a massive premium regardless as anything really from USDM does. Seems to me the vids aimed at EU drivers more.
I'm V8 swapping a prius. Not just saying that either. I have serious plans to buy a 2nd gen prius, gut it, and mid mount a V8. I already have the 5.7 litre GM engine out of a truck, which will go where the back seats were with a firewall welded in front. Still figuring out air intake and cooling without ridiculous vents on the body.
The CA18 is actually a good engine, and more reliable than SRs, although they dont output as much HP when modded compared to an SR20. They are dubbed 'Mini RBs' as they are legitimately hard to kill (like an RB20).
E36 might be the best overall choice considering how popular it is and how much aftermarket parts there are out there. Getting one to ~350hp is doable without spending limbs.
Porsche Boxster S are awesome for drifting. Fit a Wavetrac, upgrade suspension arms with adjustable rose-joints, PU bushings, stiffer H&R anti-roll bars, PSS9 coil-overs, Ultra Racing chassis bracing, upper and lower strut bars front and rear. Handling is awesome OEM, sublime after mods. Front caster is 36Deg from the factory, meaning you can drift and counter without almost any steering input. Power is adequate OEM and an engine swap from a 4.0L GT3 or GT2 Turbo with few mods. Sweet. Thank you for sharing.
Ever heard of Volvo 740 or 940? Really cheap, just weld the diff and you are ready to go! Easy and still kinda cheap to uppgrade to get more power and Lots of parts if anything will break.
4:00 E36 323i has the cast iron block (M50) and it produces 170hp stock (easy to get +/- 190hp). 325i has aluminium block (M52). M50s are monsters impossible to kill :D
The Opel Omega B Mk1 is my dreamcar! I really want to own one, with a 3.0 MV6 Engine. But the Opel Omega A is really good too. The 3.0 Inline-6 engine variant is can produce +500-600HP with a big single turbo (and with another modications of course)
Volvo 240/740/940 turbos. Front engine rwd with lsd and a 5 speed for much less than most on this list. Some even came with forged internals and sodium filled valves...
As a happy owner of a 1990 190e 1.8 I have to tell you that: I bought the car for just 500€ from an old man. It's in perfect condition for its age with only 205000 km, it has enough power for its weight but also so comfortable. It's so well made that with the basic care it will NEVER BREAK! I really love it and I will never sell it. I was ready to buy an e30 but finally I got something much cheaper and better.
I would also like to suggest the 3rd gen Firebirds and Camaros, basically the GM alternative to the Mustang. Millions of parts, super cheap, and about 210 hp from the 305 in the later years
Hey, an Omega with a diesel is a great car! At least mine. ;) Haven't properly drifted it *yet*, but I took it for a 5 hour driving practice/time attack on a track and the 150hp, 300 Nm 2.5 DTI (a BMW engine, codename M57) gave me tons of fun; when the (standard, I think) turbo kicks in fully at 3.000 RPM it really FEELS fast, although, having 10,5 sec 0-100 [km/] it probably isn't. And the engine sounds reeeeally nice (for a diesel) - it's a straight-six🖤🖤, and I know you can tune up the power output, although I don't know what the reasonable limit is. Yet.
I don't normally do this, however, this video has a significant omission. The Volvo 240 and 700/900 cars are very cheap (my current 740 was $200 CAD) and even the non-turbo automatic models can be made to drift easily with just a diff weldup....Ok, rant over :)
6 seconds in and you already have faulty info. A drift car with very little rear traction will run you straight into a wall. You need to initiate a drift by breaking traction and then controlling your forward push and angle by spinning the wheels after they've lost traction. In order to do that reliably, you need decent traction. Not "as little [...] as possible". You're gonna kill someone dude.
spicy boye I hope you know these cars he are talking about have power figures as low as 100. And if you are a skilled drifter, you can manage little rear traction
Fellow Americans, the Merkur XR4TI was our version of the Sierra. I know what you're thinking already, and yes you can put a 5.0 in it. South Africa had 250 such examples built with a T5 for homologation purposes
rudkacka Ford 2.8 v6 is OHV engine. Cosworth engines were DOHC 2l turbo. 2 years ago I webt to Ford gathering on Ada Huja, and we could drive on go-cart track. My time was about 56s and there was only one more Sierra and it went just 2s faster. He had power steering, ABS, and slick low profile summer tires. I had very narrow all season tires, soft suspension and heavy second gear (worn syncro). Basicly stock 27 year old car. So it is either I was good driver or 2.8V6 is not a lot faster.
Did anyone else notice that visioracer focused on cars avaible in Europe and USA? Do you know why? Because in Japan when you want to drift you just take your fathers tofu AE86 and go to mountains
I'm really glad of your new style, love the intro, love the video. I wish I had time and buy a Mercedes for the project like you presented. Hopefully one day. I'm just busy studying and working. Keep the videos flowing fellow petrolhead.
Here in Southeast Asia, we have "Kijang" chassis family. It was based from E7 Corolla in the old days, but nowadays Kijang are still RWD and even AWD tho. It's a nice MPV, it's also RWD, but the engine is too weak to generate 200++ hp. Old Kijangs available as S and L, L means Long(7 Seater-Wagon) and S means Short(4+2 Seater Wagon). Now the S becomes the Avanza, the "Everyone's Car" fun-to-drive LMPV and the L becomes Innova, which is known with it's luxuryness and rich features despite being an Mid-MPV. Both are fun to drive, just get an 1UZ swap and you're ready to go.
Yea i get you cheap is cheap but my point is that might be a wasted $600 as if its been forced to run like that for some period it might just mean a new engine in total. Personally unless I goes when in my possession I never touch a car with one because you never know how far the previous owner pushed it. So you're braver than me.
Actual list of cars for entry level drift is highly dependable on your location. In Europe Volvo is very popular (cos its cheap as hell) while in Russia - Lada is king of the hill.
If you live in Australia (Mostly only Australia, these are expensive elsewhere) Get a Commodore Ute. V6 or V8. but with the powerful engine at the front and no weight at the back, it just slides when you put your foot down. Especially in the rain, and you can get some cheap ones around if you're lucky!
My first car was a 1993 Ford Sierra with the 125hp 2L i4, I practically prepared the entire car for a renovation and it was almost done when I had to sell it to help me and my mom through a tough financial period. But now all I want is to find the current owner and buy it back :,)
My first car was a Pontiac Firebird 1989 v6 2.8 . We put Nitrous and a turbo from the junkyard on it . Run for 3 year only have to change 2 flywheel and 7 trans support !
I currently own IS200 and it's awesome. Only downside (besides poor fuel economy) is the open diff but that is not a problem on snow. Not at all, it drifts like crazy. For tarmac I found other solution, I put kinda worn tires that used to be on front onto the rear and with just a slight help from inertia and centrifugal force it beautifully slides and burns rubber as it goes. On wet tarmac the fun is doubled. Once I finally find an LSD to fit, the fun will be tripled.
Don't forget any of the older Opel cars, such as the Manta and Kadett, great cheap cars with plenty of potential! I learned drifting in an 78 Opel Kadett C Coupe with the standard 19S engine and 4 speed manual, great learners experience!
You did your research, good job! Glad to hear that you mentioned a turbo build with the m50b25 (BMW e36 325i) because the cast Iron blocks are somewhat perfect for that. If you do not intend to turbo your e36, go for a 323i/328i (m52b25 or m52b28) - Less weight, more power - with a little help of a few parts of the m50 engine.
Old Mercedes Benz diesels are handling more than well heavy turbo charging because they are entierly made of cast iron, to be more precize the block and the cylinder head, so big boost won't make them crack. The best example for this is Miko Peltola's Black Smoke named W123 300TD with a Scania turbo on it. If you'll check it on UA-cam you'll find a video in which he is talking about the modifications and when he is mentioning the engine's one's he is only saying that a big ass turbo was fitted on it, nothing more and nothing less. The same guy made a series on he's channel in which he is building a E190 2.5 turbo diesel for drifting, so if you're having a pre 2000 Merc diesel than you could easily do the same thing without even loosing its reliability. The post 2000 diesels were replaced with a CDI unit which can't be costumized like its predecessor because its alloy block, common rail system with electronic fuel injection and other sophisticated technology is not making it possible.
Ford Crown Victorias and Mercury grand Marquis are also excellent options. They are extremely reliable, easy to find parts for, and are dirt cheap. RWD with a high torque v8. does not have to be a police option. Just weld the diff and you have yourself a dirt cheap drift car. Plus nobody would ever expect a four-door grandpa car to be sliding around like a JDM
Keep going with this!! I'm Puerto Rican and sometimes my spelling get messed up, but I can understand very well your english. Nice research you have done!!! :D Cheers and Greetings

Lanyi said it much simpler than i did. lol. Yeah the price is above the actual worth.
Still figuring out air intake and cooling without ridiculous vents on the body.
savage af, u gon be da mvp
UGU Zach better make a UA-cam channel about it lol
now *that* is something i'd want to see :)

The CA18 is actually a good engine, and more reliable than SRs, although they dont output as much HP when modded compared to an SR20. They are dubbed 'Mini RBs' as they are legitimately hard to kill (like an RB20).
Yes! Yes! I love that VisoRacer decided to have text (Like in his normai videos) and voiceover. I like that, keep it up!
Great you like it, I will carry on
E36 might be the best overall choice considering how popular it is and how much aftermarket parts there are out there. Getting one to ~350hp is doable without spending limbs.
I'm liking the new style of videos. Keep up the good work.
Awesome
You also forgot that since the S13 has such a large engine bay, it's great for engine swaps!
Cool, then
congrats 200k subs!!
Thank you!
Sweet. Thank you for sharing.
good list expect for the s13 that isn'ty really cheap
for me it's missing the bmw e34, some volvo's like 740 or 760 or even 940,
I love the new videos! Both with and without text but talking is the way to go. Great vid
Thanks
Volvo 740
Sick video,I have a 2001 Lexus is300 with a 2jz -ge engine and it has 215bhp ,awesome car to drift around with
Ever heard of Volvo 740 or 940? Really cheap, just weld the diff and you are ready to go! Easy and still kinda cheap to uppgrade to get more power and Lots of parts if anything will break.
cheap? maybe in sweden or in the US
Steve hedges where you from? I'm from Poland and here RWD Volvos are cheap
plus if you crash car does not break
s13 is drift tax
volvo is drift brick
4:00
E36 323i has the cast iron block (M50) and it produces 170hp stock (easy to get +/- 190hp). 325i has aluminium block (M52). M50s are monsters impossible to kill :D
However the best Sierra to drift is the Cosworth, and those are MEGA Expensive.
TIL South Aftica got a 5.0L/T5 version.
Where u gonna find a cheep sierra
The Opel Omega B Mk1 is my dreamcar! I really want to own one, with a 3.0 MV6 Engine.
But the Opel Omega A is really good too. The 3.0 Inline-6 engine variant is can produce +500-600HP with a big single turbo (and with another modications of course)
Volvo 240/740/940 turbos. Front engine rwd with lsd and a 5 speed for much less than most on this list. Some even came with forged internals and sodium filled valves...
Shhhh i plan on buying one of those soon, don't get people buying them or they'll get a drift tax too.
volvos "5-speed" , all jokes aside 740 2.3t is bang for budged
DuBstep115 And you can slap a 16v head and a 2.5 stroker crank from a boat. There's a few redblocks pushing 1000hp.
As a happy owner of a 1990 190e 1.8 I have to tell you that:
I bought the car for just 500€ from an old man. It's in perfect condition for its age with only 205000 km, it has enough power for its weight but also so comfortable. It's so well made that with the basic care it will NEVER BREAK! I really love it and I will never sell it. I was ready to buy an e30 but finally I got something much cheaper and better.
early congrats on 200k!
It's close, yes. Thank you!
I would also like to suggest the 3rd gen Firebirds and Camaros, basically the GM alternative to the Mustang. Millions of parts, super cheap, and about 210 hp from the 305 in the later years
Volvo 240 !!!
Text added, now you've covered all the bases for all viewers, my compliments to you bro.
My thanks to you, mate!
@spicy boye and make sure you have a snow tires for more traction 😂😂😂 GIVE ME A BREAK
Fellow Americans, the Merkur XR4TI was our version of the Sierra. I know what you're thinking already, and yes you can put a 5.0 in it. South Africa had 250 such examples built with a T5 for homologation purposes
My grandad has Sierra 1.8 and I am having so much fun these days.
Btw the newer Scorpio is a longer Sierra with same or newer engines
TheAwesome 80s My friend has Scorpio. It is more like luxury Sierra. Most of parts fit.
well yeah but you can drift with the scorpio too :D
and scorpio came with a cosworth V6
rudkacka Ford 2.8 v6 is OHV engine.
I was thinking about Opel in the last time, maybe a Omega A with 3.0 24V, but hard to find as sedan, manual. acceptable mileage/condition AND cheap
Did anyone else notice that visioracer focused on cars avaible in Europe and USA? Do you know why? Because in Japan when you want to drift you just take your fathers tofu AE86 and go to mountains
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
I have a 2000 Mazda Miata in perfect condition just chilling in my garage. Is that A good drift car? Because I really wanna turn it into one.
where the Volvos at?
Your commentaries are improving as well as your English....keep it up!
2:42 az Zalaegerszegen van :D
you really opened my eye on the opel omega
0:56 lithuania!
I like the new interface and especially the subs . Thanks for the updates and good luck for the futur ones.
Thanks!!
4:03 Why is Slim Shady drifting😂
I'm really glad of your new style, love the intro, love the video. I wish I had time and buy a Mercedes for the project like you presented. Hopefully one day. I'm just busy studying and working. Keep the videos flowing fellow petrolhead.
Keep working hard. The reward will come afterwards!
Why no volvo?
I got myself a 318ti that will be my daily drifter after I fix the headgasket
Fatmandoobius Cheapest BMW I could find in the Chicago area. Rollers usually go for around $1000+ & I got this one for $600
Yea i get you cheap is cheap but my point is that might be a wasted $600 as if its been forced to run like that for some period it might just mean a new engine in total. Personally unless I goes when in my possession I never touch a car with one because you never know how far the previous owner pushed it. So you're braver than me.
Fatmandoobius I guess lol, after I fix the head gasket I wana daily it for a while & if the motor just fucks up totally then I'll M50 swap it.
LS swap coming around in 3... 2... 1... lol just kidding
bercholr lol but the thing is keep contemplating doing an LS E46 for the shits n giggles.
Actual list of cars for entry level drift is highly dependable on your location. In Europe Volvo is very popular (cos its cheap as hell) while in Russia - Lada is king of the hill.
volvo 740!!
Luisupulkka joo mutta dritaamisesta se on kaukana sillä laivalla
If you live in Australia (Mostly only Australia, these are expensive elsewhere) Get a Commodore Ute. V6 or V8. but with the powerful engine at the front and no weight at the back, it just slides when you put your foot down. Especially in the rain, and you can get some cheap ones around if you're lucky!
jesus christ stop talking lmao
Frost Zemun That's a bit too harsh tho:))
Take your advice king of morons and stop shitposting. He is not going to ask you to voice an opinion.

My first car was a 1993 Ford Sierra with the 125hp 2L i4, I practically prepared the entire car for a renovation and it was almost done when I had to sell it to help me and my mom through a tough financial period. But now all I want is to find the current owner and buy it back :,)
I really dont like the talking man, and i dont think im the only one
I like him, he's nice and very interested in the subjects he makes videos about.
i liked the text only tbh
Mohamed RACHID i know, but i prefer to read it instead of listening
Well, I prefer listening because I suck at reading. My brain reads very slowly so it's easier for me to listen. :-/
then practice at it bro i mean practice makes perfect
My first car was a Pontiac Firebird 1989 v6 2.8 .
We put Nitrous and a turbo from the junkyard on it .
Run for 3 year only have to change 2 flywheel and 7 trans support !
please dont talk. the text was perfect before. no offence at all intended
I like people who try to find solution, instead of saying excuses. Cheers!
dude your english is really good now, I have no problem catching what you mean. Keep it up!
I learned in a ford crown Victoria police interceptor. Surprisingly excellent Powerband for easy drifting!
Don't forget any of the older Opel cars, such as the Manta and Kadett, great cheap cars with plenty of potential! I learned drifting in an 78 Opel Kadett C Coupe with the standard 19S engine and 4 speed manual, great learners experience!
200sx is one of my dream cars!
The quality of your videos keeps improving. Good job sir.
Really enjoying the voiceovers, keep it up! Great video, as always!
Thumbs up!
The Opel Omega was sold as a Cadillac here in the States. It was called the Catera and didn't sell very well.
You are getting better at pronunciation ! Keep up with your good work we love it !
Hey VisioRacer, that's my Foxbdoy making a cameo from 4:35-4:51, thanks!!
You got some drifting skills, nice job, mate
Thanks, the car has come a long way since then!
Ford Crown Victorias and Mercury grand Marquis are also excellent options. They are extremely reliable, easy to find parts for, and are dirt cheap. RWD with a high torque v8. does not have to be a police option. Just weld the diff and you have yourself a dirt cheap drift car. Plus nobody would ever expect a four-door grandpa car to be sliding around like a JDM
i want a 190e really bad, they look dope and seems like a lot of fun to drive
Keep going with this!! I'm Puerto Rican and sometimes my spelling get messed up, but I can understand very well your english.
Nice research you have done!!! :D Cheers and Greetings
Thanks, I appreciate it!
No problem Bro! ;)
The Fox body with a 5.0 is one of the best sounding cars ever made, imo.
