Just got a 2005 RX8 and loving every moment I got in it before it blows. Definitely my first practice car
Maybe an episode discussing the welded diff v 2 way diff and the pros/cons of both?
No cons with a welder bro be punk kill em tyres there is no such a thing as daily and drift :D get an Econobox for daily and spend the rest on a rusty old crap and have fun life is short
@@TheSchnitzelable wise words man
I went through most of those cars from is200, RX8 to E46 2.8 and now I'm at 350Z and that's one of a best handling car I've ever experienced, amount of grip and its reliability it's amazing highly recommend this car for any one with basics
After owning an rx8 how did you feel? did you think its to much mantince or expensive to own? I've been thinking about one but they seem hard to justify
@@theglassarrow_ when I bought the rx8 I knew it won't be cheap or reliable at all so I simply enjoyed the experience
@@klkp55 what are the parts that tend to give trouble in the RX-8?
Rx8 gang 😎 first car, two year as daily, 2 drift events, 3 tracks days drove all the way there and back no issues. It’s only as reliable as the owner keeps up with maintenance
We agree! We think they have great potential!
FActs
what year
those things are pretty hit and miss though. sounds like you got an really well built one and thats good. but the danger of buying an rx8 isnt that every single one of them are unreliable. its that some are major money pits that never run and some run for years with no problems. (with proper maintenance of course)
Thats the problem most people dont read the manual...
I can’t wait to get on a drift day 👌🏼
Stoked you guys made this video looking to get my license and maybe even take it to a track sometime! (Covid really shafted me gettin my theory test before i turned 17)
Great list guys! I'd say a 330d e46/90 would be a worth considering, they are inexpensive, tougher drivetrain, relatively cheap 280-320 hp, silly torque and agricultural reliability. E90 would also fit the budget and still cheap parts. Would consider a touring, even, because of versatility, tyre/spares capacity. What do you guys think? Safe bet would be the 330i if you're not torque greedy.
Yes someone who does a list in ireland
If you’re looking for a MK1 MX5 you might want to pick it up soon, the prices have been getting a tad crazy for clean ones, most seem to be around 3-5k, and I’ve seen some go for up to 15k, it’s mad
damn you called it😢
I saw a few for 20k damn
@@nifan7706 omg bro wtf💀😭
Got mine for 5k
it makes me so mad cause in my country they aren't under 10k and 1.8l versions are extremly rare :(
Great list!
Definitely agree with this list, in terms of the E36s, the compacts are still chips and good for skids, picked mine up with a 2.8 in it for only a grand. Might not have the prettiest rear end but a bit of work and you good
One only online in sweden 70k
@@lukasjansson7157 a ti????????
Love my e46 2.8, very good for learning and even just changing the diff they dont be stuck in 2nd so stops them overheating
Non-stop track time 😎
So far so good lol
New subscriber here , dig your videos ,I built an 89 Starion years ago do you have any videos of them .Starion is a pretty awesome starter car IMO . All the best guys !!!
Yes lads, nice to see the mx5's in there, i daily drive an mk2.5, does roundabouts with an open diff, there lethal
Nice 👍
So glad i just bought an e46 although it is a 323ci
E46 has 50/50 weight distribution too and in fact a lot of bmw:s have and are known for it
Miata is always the answer!!!
Smiles per hour 😅
I agree 💁♀️
Unless you wana go fast it isn’t
They ugly af
E90 bmw 3 series are starting to come down in price however I suppose to get going on the track they need a bit more money than the list mentioned to be reliable and fun. NB mx5's are also alot cheaper in today's market than the NA model so may have a better chance of getting good value out of those too.
FAT garage from Poland have nice steering kit (like wisefab or better) for 350z. RAK Garage as well
my first drift car is a 2011 mustang. which i'm still making payments on LOL. ( I bought the car in 2015) but i dint start drifting it till i did some mustang stuff. Cause you're never gonna worry about scratching your dents. But now that I'm stationed in Italy, I'm looking into a E36 or E46 for cheap fun and practice.
2nd the Miata pick. I may be biased but I've never had any issues other than being slow. Never a mechanical failure over 10 events alone this year, and that's driving it to the track an hour and a half each way included. I fuckin' love my car, shame prices are starting to go up in the US.
It's like a list of cars I want haha
I've been looking at e92s lately, seem to be the new cheap 3 Series. Might be troublesome though.
Couldn't agree more!
@@driftgames_life I can pretty much make a plan for any car immediately and I had the brianwave to buy a cheapish e92 coupe and throw a cheapish kit on it and call it the Eurosaver™. Heard it here first 😂
@@BubbaGTi love it!
What year?
Something a bit different, any diesel cars good for drifting? I've a 530D pushing 500nm of torque and I'd love a drift day in it for the craic!
Well that’s the price of 350Z’s doubled 😛
NOOOOOOOO! 😝
Lowkey mad about that
in my country they lay between 10-30k depending on condition
Really agree on the rx8 wish more people used them there solid fun cars , some good advice from Dave there altho we run 1.6 mx5s not in the wet 😘😁
More RX8s, that's what we want!
@@driftgames_life i have a rx8 il defo bring one over and blow it up :D
I picked the right car so. 1st time ever 😂😂😂 350z ftw!!!!! Gk tech do a cheap bolt on angle kit for around 250.
My dad owns a MX-5 from 1990. One day I will get this car. But I'll don't change anything on this car. I mean it's an Oldtimer.. and this car is very nostalgic.
Yess
My friend got a 1992 325i as a first drift car and recked it on his first day
Such solid advice, thanks Dave!! Also, how could anyone not want that iconic sound of a 350Z?
Because a lot of people hate that sound, it’s just different opinions
#chewbaccagang 😝
Volvo 7/9 series turbo, 200bhp, chopped springs, welded diff = great fun
I think about getting a e46 2.5ti Compact or a MX5 ? What do you guys think is better?
What would your opinion on a 1uz soarer with a BMW 5 speed be?
Good advice
Glad you think so!
Since I live in switzerland I can jus 3x all of those numbers 🥰
Is200 is the next twincam 👌
Is there a certain year of E46 that would be best for drifting or would any year work whether it be the 328i or the 325i?
I bought 2 E36's a few weeks back for 500 euro each! Pretty good price for Ireland I'd say, really good condition aswell 💪
That is some find!
Got my e36 325i for 1000€ two years ago and feel the same, bought e36 325tds three weeks ago for 300€ 😅
I love my RX-8. Have a ton of fun on the track.
We want to see more out there!
Yeah RX-8s are great but unfortunatly college is taking up all my time and money to even half sort it for a track.
Defo Bmw E36 is the King 👍
Rx8bis honestly a great idea. But if y'all don't want them it's fine more for us
Seriously considering a 350z after the day in Mondello. I dumped the clutch in 2nd after spinning out and she just popped around happy out. Love the 350z
They have such a smooth power band!
What about the E36? And which models is the best one for that
Whats the good price for miata mx5 in europe for 133 hp is 2 900 euros too much? But its in really good condition. And is it better to take an e36 or e46 for that amount of money?
In the UK will welded diff and hydro pass a m.o.t
What website did he use to search for the cars with the prices for the e36?
Briefly worked at Nissan UK in 2012, the driving school was all done in a 350Z. When I asked why not a 370Z the guy just shrugged and said 'the 50 sounds better'. Have 70s proved any use in terms of drifting?
i dont want a track car. just a slide-able street car. im not planning on doing comp runs of building the thing to push 400 hp. just something i can strip out and do some late night empty parking lot wet slides. i got a sim rig for comp stuff lol.
always loved a 350z!! I would love one on the road but yes the tax is ridiculous
It is a bit saucy....
Rx8 one day out then blow the engine then throw a SR or RB in 🤣
Great to see the 350z in the list now the price will shoot up 🙄 I'll never get one now 🤣 done the drift games experience few months ago & loved it and been on the lookout since. Great vid lads 👍
Thanks dude!
What about bmw 5 series first gen venos or ore vanos iv seen view for really cheap or cheapish and I'm in canada nd got a new job and my first pay check I want to get a shit box manual to learn in I get the just but putting it in action is diffrent also what are some reccomend first upgrades and shit I dont need or can upgrade for basic or next level improvement maby a super charger for low end power
lookin to pick up a cheap e36 328i. Any recommended mods to get going strong? Like welded diff and etc
I've heard that youll be good with a angle kit and maybe a hydro
Im starting to drift in a is200 and i do agree they have no power but they are still fun
If you drive them fast, they do work!
A video on 4 door Toyotas 😂📹👌
What engine to you recomand on a e36?
Is200 now 8k
I wish more tracks would offer drift days in England.
There's a few up north
L2D do a bunch, Birmingham is most popular
We have more now than we've had in years
Mallory used to do some epic Drift days...... Sadly the locals put a stop to that.
ayyyy he shows Adam lz in one of his videos!
I looked the 350z up and looked the cheapest price was 11k and it was used
"anything you buy after an is200" Why would you sell it? 1j bolts in, 2j bolts in, beams motor and turbo that. JZX suspension and brakes bolt in.
If ya had the budget to pay for a is200 with the price of them atm then a 2j swap ya could buy a lot better car for less hassle and less problems
funnily enough. e36 an e46 are 50/50 weight distribution too...
I am mad we don't get cheap silvias in Ireland. :(
What about volvo drift builds they are cheap and reliabel
Depends where u live, in the UK best one is the 240 and can't rlly get those for less than 4k
@@cormacjames4766 i whould say that the 740 is tje best one becuase the 240 is going upp in prise becuase peopel now know that they are a good sleeper so they have starten going upp in sprice but im from sweden so tjat might be why they are so cheap here

Front engine rwd drifter, just about to sell my 92' mr2, any ideas where to find them? Looked on cars and classics Facebook and eBay but they're all over 3k more or less and for a shitbox sleeper build it's not rlly worth it. Makes more sense to get an E46 3 series rn it seems as they're powerful and with a welded diff will slide happily
@@cormacjames4766 i mean in sweden they are Evert where so i gues you could import it and you can find them here for antingen from 1k to 5k dependin IF it is in nice cuality or IF it is engin swaped. You can find them in Blocket in sweden but i dont know where you can find them.
Ignoring the debates about rotary engines, the RX8 is pretty heavy and the electric steering rack is just woeful. When you cut the knuckles it can't cope consistently with the extended steering range and be really problematic. They are super easy to work on and sound great.
Great video dave! Bmw e46 perfect starter car really specially if ya have 1 with an sr20 like mine lol
Show us it in your vids
Couldn't agree more!
@@rulyaparr I hope to have it out at a drift games drive day in the new year sometime.Couple of small jobs need doing first though
cheap chassis - expensive engine. Can't fault you. But sort of fly's in the face of every well proven drift car out there
*I have a sr20 in my 300zx and love it. But my other bodged together cars I built with £3.50 and a pack of watzits are way more reliable 🤣
@@Stevie4KGaming show us your work on it🤣or u dont have it
What years for the 350z ?
And what about if you want to daily drive it too? What would be good options with low insurance/tax? (In the uk)
Depends on your age. If you have less than around 5 years no claims discount probably best to go for something like the MX-5 or a 325i if you don’t mind paying around 1.5-2k a year in insurance. Something like a 350z will probably always be quite expensive to insure. Remember most if not all insurance companies won’t cover if you crash in track.
If anyone doubts rx8s take a look at videos of mine on Facebook, she was only a 192 but took heaps of abuse and I think it’s still going
Great to hear it works!
As a fun weekend car that might potentially do a couple of track days / DWYB's, would the initial cost of a 350z be off set by the reliability / maintenance costs vs an E46 325i?
It's a couple grand cheaper to pick up a 325i than a 350z but I've heard the BMW will cost more to run and the more expensive 350z will end up cheaper in a year or two?
350Z all day. Most bang for your buck in drifting in our opinion?!
@@driftgames_life Appreciate the response! 350z it is.
I'm not complaining, a couple of dreams cars aside, both the 350z and e46 are two of my favourite chassis.
Now delete this video until I pick one up next year.
Looking at the Mazda MX5, would the BMW Z3 be a good drift car? They really look alike when it comes to small sports cars..
prob too late but i doubt it, z3 is heavier and probably has worse weight balance
@@mobbdeep615 thanks for answering went with the Miata
@@GinoKelleners any regrets? i also want to get a miata as a second car for fun but im not sure ill fit in it lol
@@mobbdeep615 no regrets yet! In the process of installing a turbo and testing it. I am 188cm of 6"2 tall and fit, but no more room left...
I cant get a 350z under 11k ☹️
what good sites sell these cars???
MR2 Roadster, not good to begin?
in greece i only find 350z with 10k and more
can u give us which website is this?
Infiniti g35?
at 09:08 whats the name of the song that starts
What about the g35 or g35x
4:04 that sounds like an invitation to mondello 🤣
December 12th and December 31st 😎
@@driftgames_life at some stage of 2021 is more realistic. Rx is getting few upgrades over the christmas
Asside from the reliability issures...I dont think the RX8 was very popular here because of tax/insurance
You forgot to mention that the 350z has one of the best gearboxes ever built. Can take 1000hp no worries, has great close ratio gears, absolute banger.
Shhhhh, don't give away all the secrets, the gearboxes alone are already rising in price 😅
@@driftgames_life don’t understand why, you can buy them new from Nissan dealerships 🤷♂️
@@Tezzablade bet that's at a massive cost though haha
@@icecoldcola08 they're 1800 AUD? Which is how much euro? 1000?
Good video! Just a small correction: Mazda mx5 NA/NB never had Clutch type LSD from the factory, so you can't shim it. It's either open diff or torsen LSD on 1.8 versions.
Can you daily drive?
Can't beat an RX8 bang for buck! Rescued one from scrap last year, paid £80 for it, sold the front seats for 100 to a Land Rover guy, binned the cat, fresh battery and it's done 3 very hard events at Pembrey..... Now going through a full on face lift ready for 21.
Only thing I'd say is, they are pretty soft on the suspension and could do with a bit more lock!
Cheap coilovers work wonders. The issue is the engine. I adore the renasis. But it's a chew. Not just for rebuilds but there are lots of weak points to sort out. My last one I got when I was sick of smashing my skyline straight on practice days. Both front corners have oil coolers. Shit for twinning. The oil squiter lines are made of brittle plastic that hates shocks and the EPAS doesn't do well when you get into really fast transition
They can be improved. I adore them. But they are better track cars than drift
Is200's getting expensive now too 😅
Mad fucking money, I love the things but the asking prices these days are retarded
In American you can get an 99-04 mustang gt for like $3,000 and they are boss
1k for an is200 is a distant dream now
Missing the Volvo 740.. cheap and strong.. just weld the diff and you are good to go!
It was like 6th on our list, just hard to find nowadays!
@@driftgames_life my mate has a couple.. he even rallycrosses one! :)
@Drift games do you think the 370z is worth it as a drift car if it can be found cheap enough or keep to the 350z
For a drift car i dont know that the 370 really offers a whole lot extra over the 350. Obviously they will each have their pros/cons, you dont see many people being competitive in them tho besides Chris Forsberg.
@@superrad1659 I asked because I have to import a car and a salvage title would be cheaper but the 350 is so rare so I'm wondering if the 370 is the same or any better
I like that he didn’t say 330 Bc they’re too nice for it
Why did you not recon end the 330 e46, curious
They are notoriously unreliable and difficult to work on
See it asked so much on forums and Facebook and see everyone suggesting big powered yokes at 8grand for beginners. Both my 2 drift cars have been 300quid e46, strip them out, welded drift, hydro and full send.
Not good to start with something you have to mind 😝
@@driftgames_life damn right lads. And as you said the stock e46 was still going after a full day and everyone in higher power or had modified the shite out of it was broken down
Hi guys can you please give Luke Fink and Archy drift park a shout out our local council is trying to shut our drift track down and we can use all the help we can get to keep it up and running so people have somewhere to go other then the streets ✌🏼 cheers
And here is me trying to find a decent s14 🤷🏼♂️😂🤦🏼♂️
Just brought a 3 fiddy
Winner winner!
Spent 700 on my sc400 bought a 2jzgtevvti cd009 for 180$ here in the state you could even drift the 1uzfe but fuck that cause 2jz
Is it better to drift with automatic or manual?
Manual
Also to add for 350z/g35 GK tech makes a bolt on angle kit for the cost of your lunch money ,that makes the biggest difference driving (drove a friends g35 at event with it)
We have heard good reports!
is the 330i e46 worth getting or does it have some drawback to it?
Oil pump issues. A basic Google will give you some pointers. They are however worth good money standard now. I've bought several recently as "drift cars". Returned them to road cars and increased their value a lot.
Subframe tends to crack overtime.e
Is the e36 that expensive, i bought one for 1900€ here in Finland and it has a 2.8L engine and a welded diff
They are getting scarce as most were wrecked in drifting and the nice ones are being restored as road cars!
Mine is of course in pretty bad condition and the front grill got stolen after i bought it
@@driftgames_life not sure I can agree. Of all that were built. I bet that less than 0.1% have been destroyed drifting. Most will have been too rotten to do anything with or most likely there was more profit in braking for parts.
Been in drifting for years. Got sick of people blaming drifters for the new cost of s13s we used to get for £400. If drifting is to blame then why has the cost of s bodies gone up by 100% and the cost of gtrs by 1000% not to mention honda Integras. Ford escorts. Sierra's, anything English (I have a reliant scimitar. It's a truly shite car).
Drifters aiming drifters are responsible for "destroying cool cars" is literally like shooting yourself in the dick. I've talked to several potential sponsors who sponsor my works rally teams. They were very interested in what I had to say. Until I mentioned drifting.... They don't sponsor riff raff banger racers who destroy good cars 🙄
We should combat that image
