Thanks for making this video! I'm about to dive into a variocam pad replacement job and need to make one of these. I like this idea better than using zip ties to keep the actuator compressed
It was fun figuring that stuff out, it made me feel like an engineer for a minute! 🤓 Porsche engine gurus on facebook have some photos showing how to dismantle the entire Variocam to replace the seals. Thats new info since I made the video. Thank you for watching! 🤘😎
Another option is drilling out the stupid reverse thread in the Porsche part, and tapping a normal thread so you could just use a regular long bolt as a tool.
All is well, BUT what is the length of the rod when cut? Inquiring minds would love to know!
Always two turns forwards and half a turn back , saves the blade and clears the swarf. Good job though 👍

Thats what I did...
If that special tool was available for purchase, it for sure wouldn't be for the $38.00 you spent to create one .
It would be nowhere near as fun either! 🥳
