Verdins White (EWF), Gary Strater (Starcastle), Tony Levin (one of the top asked for bassists for both studio and live), Paul McCartney (Beatles & solo), Billy Sheehan (from his own band to DLR to Steve Vai), Pat Badger (Extreme), Dave Hope (Kansas), and John Myung (Dream Theater). I could list more, but since I’m a ‘60 y/o’ multi-instrumentalist most of my life beginning at age 4 on classical piano. 2 different skill sets Charles is one of the best teachers I've ever seen while Davie is one of the best entertainers I've ever seen and uses his channel to promote other artists and their channels which is how a lot of us found Charles
That's the first time I have seen him actually concentrate on playing
Bassists I fell in love with and wanted to emulate are Chris Squire (YES), John Paul Jones (Zep), Steve Fossen (original Heart), Geddy Lee (RUSH), any bassist who played with Steely Dan, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel. I’ve had the fortune to hear every one of these bassists in the days of their prime. I’d be very interested how many of my list you or anyone might know.
Victor just mentioned and linked this video on his official Facebook page. Keep it up the good work Charles! :)
Amazing and engaging music, as always. Congrats on getting a shout out from Vic! Don’t think I’ve ever seen him give a shout out to anyone on FB before, you should be proud 👍🏾👏🏾
The way you play I’m starting to doubt there is such a thing as a “hard bass solo”😂
Tackling the absolute greatest bass performance of all time is no mean feat at all
Charles is unnecessarily good at bass. He exists only for us to love him.
charles the beast berthoud
Best bass player I've ever heard and thats coming from a guitar player
This is now my favorite rendition of my favorite piece of music I've ever heard. I don't know what kind of compliment could hold more power than to say this joins Wooten's live version at the podium.
Some of the players who made me fall in love with the bass are Victor Wooten, Davie504, and some dude named Charles or something ;)
I didn't come to enjoy bass until recent in life but my goal before I die is to play this piece as you have in this video.
I know Victor! My dad is really close friends with him, and I teach and jam at his camp sometimes! #Vixcamps @wootenwoods
Show him the vid xd
Wowow!!
Wow Victor share this video on his Facebook fanpage!! Congrats
This is truly impressive the tapocalypse and crazy classical style impacted me the most. It was like a perfect blend of classical jazz and rock. These transitions hold the listeners attention too
We came looking for silver,
And we found GOLD.
Are you sure? We found... platinum

I was JUST discussing this with my wife like ... "yeah, and then he never did the cover." lol yaaay
This is illegal.
OPINO EXACTAMENTE LO MISMO QUE TÚ😢
I cannot tell the difference between your performance and that of Wooten even after 24 years of pianist experience. You freaking nailed it brother.
Bro, thank you very for this video, the way you relax with the instrument is incredible is like it becomes an extension of yourself, bravo my man you are one a of kind!!!
Can I suggest you Charles to do a bass battle with Nathan Navarro?
That would be just awesome
Oh yeah we need to see this
nathan is really good too but charles is on another level
They did!
@@harukomeyers7073 yeah I saw it, but it was only Nathan responding to Charles open challenge
We want a bass battle !
Imagine making The Lesson harder than it already is
Out of the whole composition, the weird note is the thing I want to learn how to do most
My favorite Wooten song.... such a cool progression. You really do it justice!
Victor Wooten gave a commencement speech for a graduating class of a college. He said something profound. Words from his mother.
"The world has many great musicians. What the world needs is more good people...."
Your playing was FAR superior to his live performance. He has a ton of string noise, buzzing, and sloppy movements. Obviously he gets props for creating it, but some of your originals are equally beautiful and technically challenging.
Bottom line, you are easily the greatest bass player I've ever listened to period. Your technique is flawless yet emotional. A really rare combo. I sure wish you would venture out into a Trio and tour or at least some recordings with top players. Anyone would be a fool not to have you on their record.
Please listen original again and dont pay attention on the “noises”
Just feel the song and you will see that victor is the master of feeling
I can’t imagine a world where people would thumb this performance down. I certainly would not want to live in it. Bravo Charles 👏👏👏👍
"Victor Wooten is a legend, but somehow I will still manage to flex on him."
Underrated comment :D
Amazing talent and a sense of humor. You will never be without work.
That was absolutely beautiful... the chord part was especially epic...
People like you and 504 make me wish that 42 years ago I picked up bass instead of guitar....
i knew this was coming after the music is win video
