Thanks you, Kenneth! That’s what I aim for-to give as much context as possible so each viewer can calculate what might apply to them. Thanks for watching!
Well done, I will have to say though, with the GoRuck, you definitely don't need to flip the flap before using the zipper. They work great without doing that, as well as if you don't that fabric breaks in as well as the zipper over a month or so and they get substantially smoother and easier to use. The straps are stiff, and they take a little longer to break in, however they do break in really nicely after a while and are SOOOO comfy after they break in. Even if you're only carrying a few smaller/lighter things. That's just a bag that takes breaking in and accommodating some things to get 100% how you like it. Once it's there though, oh boy!
Thanks! And yeah, a part of me was sad to return it, as I know most of those issues would improve with time. But the one thing I doubt would improve is that front pocket. It’s not bad or anything, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the vertical one on my Able Carry. Also, the lack of mesh on the back doesn’t absorb back sweat as well as the Able Carry. However, I must confess that the Goruck looks and feels like a very solid pack, probably one of the most well made bags I’ve tried.
You mention that the Axiom 24 feels like it's made of Cordura even though it's supposed to be X-Pac. There are many different types of X-Pac and the Axiom 24 uses X50 X-Pac which is 500D Cordura with other layers that make it X-Pac, so what you are feeling when you touch it actually IS Cordura, but with additional elements that create X-Pac.
Indeed. I was pretty new to pack materials when I made this video, but I’ve since learned all about the different varieties of X Pac. Thanks for watching! 😊
Great review! Very detailed and clear. seems like hiking backpacks are the way to go, all the military-style edc (that are much more popular in the US, I'm from Europe and here you got all Roll-tops because of the biking and rain, probably in the US there's gun related reasons for goruck styled bags). I'm currently looking for a 25-35 backpack, I need to carry more because I don't have a car, and I keep moving, whether I spend half a day outside, work from a cafe, or go to my partner's for a few nights. Currently considering some Osprey, OGIO, and Eminent
Thanks, u! 😀 If you’re after pure comfort, then look at Gregory Zulu 30. If you want a more versatile/edc styled large pack, the Able Carry Max comes to mind as being a great option. Good luck and keep me posted with what you end up with!
@@ttg808 nice brah 🤙🏼 that’s exactly the colorway I was considering, that or the ranger green. But I’m actually considering the Lite version since i don’t always need to carry a laptop and when I do I can just throw it in the main compartment with a sleeve. I actually just sold the Able Carry Daily, and looking for a true hybrid pack for travel, EDC and hiking. Have you ever tried hiking with the Evade? You know how it gets here with the humidity…maybe i’m too ambitious with my pack requirements haha.
Excellent review. I’m in a similar position in that I want a smallish bag I can use for work and/or a camera or two. I’ve had my eye on the Able Carry Daily Backpack and your review has been very helpful. Note I need to settle on the color … That black looks very stylish and understated, but I like the green as well.
Thanks Jon, i’m glad you found the video helpful! In regards to the ACD, one difference to note is that the black is a rigid X-Pac, whereas the green is Cordura and has more flop to it. So the green might look a bit less bulky on the back, but the X-Pac will hold it’s shape better, especially with regards to the front flap in the opened state. A couple more packs for your consideration if you have the budget for them: GWA Citadel Micro Crew (can be purchased 2nd hand from the GWA facebook group) and The Brown Buffalo ConcealPack 19L (different gens, can be found 2nd hand from Carryology Classified or The Perfect Pack facebook group). Good luck in your search, and i’d love to hear what you ended up with!
@@CarryQuandaries I actually pulled the trigger on a black Able Carry Daily Backpack. I do like the green, but the black seems to blend in a bit more. I also like that it holds its shape even when not fully packed. Can’t wait for it to arrive. That Conceal Pack is beautiful, but not cheap. The suggestion to look for a used one is a great idea. I already have too many bags so what’s another down the road?! Thanks again for the review and your suggestions.
If you are open to trying another top loader, try a Millican Smith 25l. It would hit a lot of your concerns, particularly comfort and water bottle design. Bonus points for grocery shopping, it can expand to hold a ton.
Yeah I have that.. you're right about the groceries shopping, their convenient roll top is hard to beat there, plus the carry comfort is awesome and the material, I'm still keeping it but I've discovered the convenience of slinging a bag over a shoulder just like this guys shows and getting your stuff while worn, and that is impossible with it. Millican could resolve it by adding side zip. Another thing that I don't understand is why they made this funny wedge design on the bottom which makes it impossible to stand up on its own.. it has its own charm and style but could be improved.
Hey, thanks for the recommendation! I consider the CPL but felt like it had a lot of similarities to the TAD so figured I’d try that first. Haha, it was definitely an expensive shopping excursion…and return shipping from Hawaii for some of them was ridiculous too…but how does one know if one doesn’t try?? 😅
Thanks, Fabian! I tried the Aer Travel Pack 2 as well as the Aer Fit Pack 2 a couple years ago when I was looking for a work + gym type bag. They were decent, but I didn’t fall in love with either of them (although I enjoyed the Fit pack for a few months). I wasn’t a big fan of the design of the travel pack (I kept pulling the wrong zipper since they all look the same and are parallel to one another. Also I found all those pockets not to lend themselves to good space efficiency) so since the City Pack follows a similar design, I decided not to try it.
Love the video. It’s surprising how the “perfect” bag is so different for everyone. I’m waiting for the Able Carry to be back I’m stock in the black. Been looking at it for awhile. Where did you get that lid for your hydro flask?
Thanks Aiden! Indeed, the perfect bag not only varies between person to person, but between individual people’s evolving needs. The Able Carry in black is really nice, although I think the Green is quite nice too. Here’s the lid: www.amazon.com/dp/B09276VJBG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_Y6WGEFXHXE7P1VSHPEK4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Nice, I like your choices. I've been using an Evergoods MPL as my everyday/photo bag, and while great it's a bit big for always lugging around. I'm curious with the Able Carry Daily if you're able to fit the tenba insert into the front pocket? I've got my MPL setup like that so I can quickly access my camera when I'm on the go, so would love to be able to get a similar setup with a smaller bag.
Hi Micha, the Tenba BYOB 7 does technically fit in the Daily’s front panel, but it eats into a significant amount of capacity in the main compartment as a result. The front panel on the Daily is really intended for smaller/flatter items like keys, wallet, slim pouch, etc, so I would say that it’s not the best use case unless you don’t plant to put much in the main compartment. That said, if you position the cube correctly in the main compartment, it’s pretty easy to access the cube by slinging the pack forward and opening a a portion of the main compartment.
Hahaha, well I already returned most of them…i’m thinking of talking about the Tom Bihn Shadow guide and Synapse but it would be a fairly critical review and I fear of getting decimated in the comments lol If people are interested I can do a comparison between the Wexley backpack and the Able Carry which looks very similar…

Hey Safi, I actually haven’t tried it yet. I’ve been pretty happy with my Able Carry so gonna use that for a while until the backpack bug hits me again haha. But I heard good things about that pack so I’ll most likely try it at some point. I have a video coming out about a couple of DSPTCH Slings…not sure who cares about those slings but it will be coming out in a few hours. After that I’ll probably make a video about either hiking packs, Alpaka slings, 1733 sling, or maybe holiday gift ideas…haven’t decided yet.
Yea I think the CPL 24 turned me off a bit bc of the front panel that opens in “the wrong direction” this was before the “mirror” version came out. I’m actually currently eyeing the CTB 26, looks like a dope large edc…
Thanks for the suggestion! Personally i’m not into the all out tactical look, as I like the ability to “dress up” my pack if needed. But it does look like a great pack!
@@warlantactical I meant dress up as in wear a more dressy outfit haha. To me tactical means a highly utilitarian pack which prioritizes utility over polished aesthetics and as a result tends to have that utilitarian look common in medical/military packs.
