Hi Aaron, been watching your videos non stop for the last few weeks (some of them multiple times). Big fan! I’m a semi-pro photographer, who travels a lot. I was using wildcraft shutterbug pro backpack for the last 6 years (it’s an epic bag from an Indian brand) and the only issue with that bag is that it doesn’t fit a lot for its size. I am currently on the hunt for a travel bag and a day bag (personal item sized). After so many videos and reviews on your site, I decided to try some on, and ordered peak design travel bags and their day bags , and wandrd transit and prvke 21. But none of them seem to offer the comfort I had with my shutterbug pro. Wandrd Transit to me looks like a feature overkill, and lots of dangling zippers and more importantly, it looks so bulky depthwise. While I absolutely LOVED the sleekness of peakdesign 30L, it’s missing some serious features from 45, the front compartment and side access. Also PD bags don’t seem all too comfortable to me (less so than Wandrd). Do you have any alternative recommendations? I came across PGYtech onemo and onepro bags, and Shimoda explorer/action and urban bags. I haven’t seen you review them yet. Do you have any plans reviewing them in future? All Alpaka bags are water resistant but the XPAC versions will have the most water resistance. Some bags are just better for one bag travel (lighter, more comfortable, better travel features, etc)
@@Nomads.Nation oh okay, thank you so much for explaining, Aaron! My husband is a bit of a backpack hoarder. I introduced him to your channel, and we are both enjoying it!
Would it be foolish to get both the Aer Travel Pack 3 Regular AND Small? Or would it be more practical/flexible to get the TP3 (regular) and City Pack Pro? 28L Seems like it's the right size for me. I am worried 24L CPP will be too tight as i have a 22L and it's already too small. My goal is to fluctuate between EDC, USA Budget Airlines, and my flight to France without requiring overhead compartments. Maybe I am trying to check too many boxes?
more bags = more options, so if you have the budget I wouldn't say it's foolish. Having said that, I think the 28L is the best of all worlds as you can pack a lot and it'll fit under a lot of seats
@@Nomads.Nation I just saw the Roark mule. For 6 weeks in thailand and bussing, trains,, that looks nice. I think 35 ml is Aer looks to small for a linger trip. What suggestions do you have for longer backpacking. I did 11 months straight a decade ago and my osprey 65ml was like a home.

So I think you may be editing this video soon once you can get your hands on one-Pakt Travel Backpack V2. However, your list is very comprehensive. There are truly a lot of bags out there, and a lot of options for varrying needs. So your concluding comments were spot-on.
I had the Huckberry-Peak Design collab and the only issue is the padding on the straps. I made mine packed out for a week and they would start to dig on long walks.
my only knock of the Peak Design (I have the 45L Travel backpack) is the rivets used on rotating shoulder straps can give under heavier loads. I had one fail on me so I'm reluctant to take it on longer trips (the rivet popped which made one shoulder strap useless). But the bag otherwise is phenomenal. Their service is amazing too and they replaced the bag.
@@Nomads.Nation Loved the idea of how the straps tuck away so simply (leveraging magnets to keep the rear panel in place) but the rivet used to allow them to pivot was questionable. Granted I was carrying more than I normally would, but it gave when lifting the bag.
@@HungryYett I can't say for sure about what water bottle either would hold, that's best to ask the companies themselves. Please let us know what they say!
Hi, which bag do you recommend that is light for a petite woman traveling for 15 days internationally? Thanks for the review. I also love the Tom Binh Aeronaut 30L, will you do a video on that bag too?
No plans to review TB yet, hopefully soon! Is this a one bag trip? Or will you have luggage with you? What’s important to you - weight, security, aesthetics? Also, how heavy do you pack? It’s a very tough question to answer but provide me more details and I’ll do my best.
@@Nomads.Nation I plan on one carry-on and one backpack for our 15-day trip to Asia. Weight and an easy way to maneuver/carry the luggage are my priorities. As light as possible and luckily going to Asia means no heavy clothes! I would appreciate any suggestion(s). Thanks.

Cool video ! Now the challenge: such a backpack with adjustable dividers, but also with wheels and extendable handle for even more flexibility when traveling. Something in mind ?
Excellent presentation...It could very well lead to a late, very needed Christmas purchase...question about the insurance: on our last trip we had a big bag delay (took 5 or 6 days to reunite us with the lost bags) on a trip to South Africa (frequent travel destination). Because the trip was so busy, we didn't get around to filling out all the paper work until after the "time limit" to file a claim. Is your insurance better than that? Really felt nickled and dimed out of a proper claim.

I have a lot of tech - prob need a 45L. Any thoughts on one travel backpack that can hold its own for more refined travel and also for the more rugged off the beaten track trips?
Great video as always. I'd love one done just on under seat packs/bags just like this. I'm 6.3 and long backed. I think the last green pack you showed would fit me well?
Call me crazy. I got both the Phoenix 2 and CTB26 and they made me smiles on the road any given time! Good luck in your quest in building the next level backpacks bro!
Aaron, I love these reviews! However, its hard for me to make a decision about buying something without seeing, feeling, trying it in person. I'm going to be taking a 1 month trip through southeast Asia in November. Mostly Thailand, cambodia and vietnam. I'm 5'11" and about 225lbs. If you were me and money wasn't a factor, What carry on bag are you going with to take the most in terms of clothes and supplies? keep in mind I'm only bringing a laptop, power bank and phone in terms of tech. Maybe I'll invest in a good point and shoot camera, but nothing too crazy. Thank you again for these reviews! by far they have been the most informative! Keep them coming!😎
thanks dude! That's a really hard question to answer cuz it depends on many factors. How light/heavy will you pack in regards to clothes? You can bring 3 t shirts and do laundry every few days and travel as light as a feather, or you can bring enough clothes to never have to do laundry the entire time. Do you plan to fly a lot, and if so are you trying to always carry on your bag? What's most important to you? Lightweight? Comfort? Security? Features?
I'm probably looking to bring 7-10 days worth of clothes. I'd like to carry on if possible. Might be outdoors and in the elements quite a bit. I'll probably bring my grail water bottle (kind of large). Would like to have a lockable compartment or 2 for my laptop and passport, etc... the tortuga is on my list, but so is the Aer, and others.
Can you make a Video for European Airlines? We dont really need such big bags. Often the max size got carry on is 40x30x20cm. If it is slightly different it doesn't matter. But 50 or 60cm in hight is too much. The limimits are for example wizzair, ryanair, easyjet.. I dont find any good bag this size.
Traveled the world with the 20oz Revomax insulated flask. Hands down the best water bottle I have ever used. One handed opening and perfect for cold/hot/carbonated drinks. Please review. Would love your thoughts!
cheers! I have reviewed it and it's in line to be published. It's an interesting bag with some VERY unique features (like the thermal pockets, helmet net, and double laptop sleeves) but if you don't need those features then I would have a hard time recommending it over more established bags like the Aer City Pack Pro
@@Nomads.Nation Thanks, I th ink it was one of your videos that sold me on it too. I've been doing so much research lately for travel that everything kinda puddles together. IMO any > 30 L is too much, otherwise get a suitcase w/wheels because your bag will likely be too heavy. If you insist, revisit because you’re likely overpacking, and if you insist even more, I guess that’s your style after all :)
I'm basically at this point as well for my personal travels - 28L or under - and even then I'm still getting forced to check it due to weight restrictions. It's getting hard out there
Really looking for a bag for plane travel ie each access to stuff in tight places, each access to passport etc, and then the same bag for day trips when at the destination. Don’t need the bag for hold my entire life while traveling. Not sure any of these are it! 😢
@@Nomads.Nation what's the biggest 35L you own? I've backed the Transit Line as well. Trying to decide if I go for the 45L or the 35L. I took the Elements Travel pack 35L with me for a week to Portugal and found it pretty good and comfy. It fits under an EasyJet seat too. Kinda want the same from the Wandrd but not sure if their 35L will pack more without expanding. Their other 45L hexad access is great but its a big box and that one I definitely couldn't get away with under a seat lol
@@Nomads.Nation ok here's something interesting or maybe not. I was checking tortugas website and the listed dimensions of both the 40L and 30L aren't indicative of their capacity. The dimensions of the 40L indicates 38L volume (capacity might be less due to padding and shape as with all bags) and the 30L is 30.3L so realistically probably a 26-28L bag. Where's I can see other brands dimensional volume is more than the listed capacity as it should be. E.g Able Carry Max is 33L volume but listed as 30L due to shape and padding. What's Tortuga playing at then?? 😅
@@agent_pires I'm no expert, but like you said there are often other factors that cut into the volume of a bag (like padding, pockets, features, etc). The only real way to measure the volume of the bag is by doing this (www.osprey.com/stories/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Screen-shot-2012-03-05-at-10.32.43-AM.png) which I trust Tortuga has done
Actually I wanted to buy the Tortuga Outbreaker. But unfortunately it is no longer produced. The successor has 5 liters less volume. They remove the 2 front pockets and also the rounder corners are less stylish for that backpack. Very annoying. Unfortunately, that puts Tortuga out of the race, for me. I like the way you present the Gear. Keep on going with what you do ! Greetings from Germany.
The OG Peak Design Everyday 20L backpack is the best backpack for travel, hands down. The latched opening top is amazing when flying, you throw the backpack on its back under the seat in front of you it is dead easy to grab snacks, food, a jacket, anything and open and close that top easily. Also because the top capacity is expandable via that ladder latch system it makes it easy to throw jackets and sweaters in there. The side storage in the side flaps is awesome too and you have the hidden straps that act like tie downs for external carrying stuff too.
Great point, definitely an ideal airplane-companion for all the reasons mentioned. Keep an eye out for my bag that I'm making though - it takes the same design principles but in a different way and really elevates the accessibility
@@Nomads.Nation I will probably buy one, I love having lots of different bags and slings and pouches. I have everything from $10 backpacks to Peak Design and Wandrd backpacks. If Nomatic made their bag without Peter McCanon's name on it I would probably own one too. LOL
What a great roundup here. I got the 40L Aer Capsule pack after seeing your review (its no longer made, but they still have the 35L on final sale). I love that thing because I like having one large space. Though those Sympl and Wandrd bags, I can see a case for having two sections, as you get good visibility to everything at once, once opened. Also sorta serves as built in packing cubes if they have the mesh over the section. I'm the sort that unpacks the whole bag at my destination, but if I moved rooms a lot and kept everything in the bag and just worked outta there, I'd like those two. I never got the underneath the seat front bag thing, like, my feet belong there. If its a long flight that would be unbearable. I wonder if people are just traveling over weekends.
So stoked that you love the Capsule - I was sad to see it get discontinued. Having a bag underneath the seat in front of you isn't necessarily about comfort, but more about traveling with a bag small enough to never have to be separated from it... ever

What do you mean when you say you wouldn’t recommend one-bagging certain bags? I’m paraphrasing. Which Alpaka is water-resistant? Thank you so much!
All Alpaka bags are water resistant but the XPAC versions will have the most water resistance. Some bags are just better for one bag travel (lighter, more comfortable, better travel features, etc)

Skip on Tropicfeel. Alpaka is great. Aer is best.

I should copy the words of the previous commenter as well (ha ha). You have heard me comment on some of your other videos about the new upcoming bag that is my latest obsession. So I think you may be editing this video soon once you can get your hands on one-Pakt Travel Backpack V2. However, your list is very comprehensive. There are truly a lot of bags out there, and a lot of options for varrying needs. So your concluding comments were spot-on.
Can't wait to test out V2!
Their service is amazing too and they replaced the bag.
yea their strap-game is controversial at best lol
amazing that they replaced the bag!
@@Nomads.Nation Loved the idea of how the straps tuck away so simply (leveraging magnets to keep the rear panel in place) but the rivet used to allow them to pivot was questionable. Granted I was carrying more than I normally would, but it gave when lifting the bag.

Cool video ! Now the challenge: such a backpack with adjustable dividers, but also with wheels and extendable handle for even more flexibility when traveling. Something in mind ?
Nothing lol. I’ve only ever heard of an Osprey backpack with wheels but have never tested it myself
Really felt nickled and dimed out of a proper claim.

thanks dude! That's a really hard question to answer cuz it depends on many factors.
How light/heavy will you pack in regards to clothes? You can bring 3 t shirts and do laundry every few days and travel as light as a feather, or you can bring enough clothes to never have to do laundry the entire time.

I don't have the newest version of the Farpoint 40 so I can't say for sure. But also the Tortuga is 45L
IMO any > 30 L is too much, otherwise get a suitcase w/wheels because your bag will likely be too heavy. If you insist, revisit because you’re likely overpacking, and if you insist even more, I guess that’s your style after all :)

@@agent_pires 35L Tortuga Travel Pack probably the biggest

Having a bag underneath the seat in front of you isn't necessarily about comfort, but more about traveling with a bag small enough to never have to be separated from it... ever
It’s also about not having to line up and compete for overhead space.
