new restaurant, restaurant with a cause, inspiring stories, north west frontier cuisine, kebabs, curries, tandoor, sigri, barbeque, vegetarian, non vegetarian, north indian food, koramangala, bengaluru
In the current climate of gloom and doom, Chefs Sanjay Tyagi and Shyam Sundar Bhaskaran, both seasoned culinary professionals with stints in some top Indian kitchens in the country and overseas, have launched a culinary enterprise to not just serve delicious fare but also, more importantly in our opinion, provide livelihoods to chefs and f&b professionals who have lost their jobs at some of the city’s top hotels. The result is Northwest Kebab & Curryhouse, a breezy casual dining restaurant in Koramangala, that is showcasing an interesting repertoire of dishes from the North West Frontier region. Barely a couple of weeks old, and with not too many customers at present, this is certainly an eatery to pencil into your eating-out plans if you are looking to taste “North Indian-style” of food that goes beyond the ubiquitous palak paneer and butter chicken! Hope you enjoy this episode, take care and stay safe.
Mewe Aur Subz Ki Seekh
A delicately spiced kebab that offers the richness of reduced milk solids, dry fruits and the freshness of vegetables that intermingles with the gentle spice of chillies.
Rs. 289 (usd 3.9)
8/10
Paneer Parathdar
Marinated paneer, that is soft and creamy to the bite, stuffed with a slightly spicy, tangy paste of sun dried tomatoes.
Rs. 289 (usd 3.9)
8.5/10
Teekhi Machli
A dish that is a confluence of the North, in the mustard oil, and the South, toasted curry leaves and tamarind, that go to flavour the masala that the tilapia is tava-fried in.
Rs. 429 (usd 5.8)
9/10
Tabak Maaz
Tender lamb that is braised in saffron, spices and milk, and then finished with ghee. At Northwest Kebab & Curry House, the braised meat is then coated in a light batter and fried. The juicy succulence of the fat and the ghee is what one tastes on the palate as the meat peels away from the bone.
Rs. 439 (usd 6)
9/10
Chicken Behari/ Mutton Behari
A moist and gently flavoured grilled morsel of meat with none of the heavy handed spicing that one would associate with a North Indian Kebab. My vote though goes to the mutton version of this kebab where the tenderiser has imparted a creamy texture to the smokey flavours of the meat.
Rs. 389 (usd 5.3)/ Rs. 439 (usd 6)
8.5/10 / 9.5/10
Bhindi Musallam
Slit and spiced tender ladyfingers that are fried and topped with a rich musallam gravy of almonds and heavy cream, and garnished with beaten silver, rose petals and saffron oil.
Rs. 289 (usd 3.9)
8/10
Methi Malai Kofta
Paneer and potato dumplings stuffed with prunes and nuts, cooked in a tomato and cream based gravy laced with the slightly bitter edge of fresh fenugreek.
Rs. 339 (usd 4.6)
8.5/10
Murg Shinwari Karahi
A rustic preparation that one would perhaps encounter on a highway stop in the NorthWest, one tastes the untamed flavours of ginger, green chillies, coriander seeds in this chicken dish that is prepared and served in cast iron karahi
Rs. 429 (usd 5.8)
8.5/10
Nalli Rogan E Nishat
If you are a mutton lover, this is a must-order dish here. The curry bears the lip-smacking goodness of tender meat and bone marrow, the meat the sort that not just slides off the bone but almost melts away when placed in the mouth.
Rs. 499 (usd 6.8)
10/10
Dal Makhni
Rs. 289 (usd 3.9)
7.5/10
Zaffrani Pulao
Rs. 249 (usd 3.34)
8/10
Husn E Ara
Rs. 129 (1.7)
7.5/10
Samak Ke Chawal Ki Phirni
Rs. 129 (1.7)
9/10
Sheer Kurma
Rs. 129 (1.7)

Yes, for India!!
The chef seems like quite the humble guy. Despite all his accomplishments he seems to do his talking through his cooking. I'll definitely be trying to recreate some of the dishes, loved the episode!!
Really heartening to see Northwestern Cuisine being introduced to Bangalore. As the Chef rightly said, we mask the flavours of meat with excessive masalas and condiments. Real Chapli Kebabs from Peshawar are the size of a dinner plate and made of beef predominantly with pieces of marrow studded in like mini flavor bombs, namkeen gosht, mutton rosh, shinwari kadahi, laandi are the dishes where the meat gets in centerstage without getting lashings of masalas, it all cooks in rock salt, pepper, whole onions, tomatoes, garlic-water, and lamb fat or chakki as they say!
I am from Switzerland. More than the food I love the way Mr.Kripal enjoying them while explain to us. It seems as if we are too enjoying the meal virtually. Hats Off to Mr Kripal

😂😂
Good restaurant n chef..looks hygeinic..healthy n rich taste.. Seems to be good high cost restaurant..
All your reviews are excellent. You cover it so well. What I am appalled is to see your appetite too. I believe you shoot it at one go, means you also need to have a very good appetite to eat everything even to taste. For me, is like three meals. Hats off to you not only to cover everything but also to generate so much of appetite.
The way you express food is absolutely phenomenal. Food Vocabulary 💯✅
Shinwari Karahi comes from the city of Peshawar, today in Pakistan! Peshawar is the city where tandoori chicken was invented and from where the inventors of Butter Chicken & Dal Makhani hailed. It is heartwarming to see a bit of Peshawar in the Garden City!
Good Sukrit

Is it true that Americans barely put salt in their food
@@siddharthsen7035 Americans eat one of the most high sodium diets in the world. So that definitely isn’t true.

Definitely, I will check out this place . Apart from your food blog i am a regular viewer of foodpk and after viewing the blogs of foodpk , I always think why items like chapli kebab and various tawa items are not available in India . Thanks Kripal Ji for making the video and hearty congratulation to the chef and his team for starting the venture.
This is your one of the best video ever 👌
Food good level.... English next level...i am here to listen to your English.

Shahi tukda
Another masterpiece, now with both a sumptuous wide range of Northwestern cuisine and

Absolutely tempting and delicious and a must go place for me. Can you please also make a trip to Delhi once so that we can be familiar with the favorite Hotspot eateries there and try out those restaurants when I'm in town. Thank you.
Come to Peshawar for Chapli Kebabs, your channel is great
I have eaten the food at northwest - it truly is unparalleled in Bangalore 🙏🏼
Hope you enjoyed the video too, Rageshree! 🙂
Hey Kripal, there's one North Eastern restaurant in Koramangala, somewhere around JNC. Do try it, its authentic, down to even the minutest details. You even get the iromba and rice wine there.

The Chef is too Humble 🔥🔥💯
Marvelous video and Mr. Kripal's beautiful explanation of each dish just gets one hungry for all the yummy dishes.
A quick reply would be very helpful if whether all the meat or chicken are Halal products procured by the restaurant.
Thank you.
Also Mr. Kripal if you could include this about Halal meat or chicken in all your future videos should you have mutton or chicken items to taste. Thanks.
When I saw you using two hands to eat the meat proves that you are a real deal. Love how you are unabashed while eating and just enjoying your food.
Great chef
Love your presentation Kripal. Great to see you support more than reviewing food. 😊🙏😊
Hi Kripal, visited this place today for lunch. I was surprised to see you there too , but didn't want to intrude as you were having lunch with your family. My friend and colleague who walked in later was excited too and was urging to ask you for a quick selfie. I restrained him saying that you were there for a quiet lunch with your family. As regards the food I ordered a mutton seekh kebab, dahi kebab and Afghani mutton pulao. Awesome dishes each one of them. I washed them down with a lemon soda sweet & sour and finished our lunch with phirni. Hope we catch up next time when you are at work reviewing sone great places.
I think Bengaluru is blessed to have a food blogger like Kripal showcasing great food.
Just jealous you ppl living in Bengaluru
Restaurants like these are unique serving authentic fare. I hope they will do well in the coming days and months. I am visiting this on 30th or 31st for lunch.
If there was a noble prize for food clogging definitely would go to Kripal sir
