I'd personally take the ambient noise over the weird sounding voice with noise cancelling. I also think it's weird to see a busy background and hear none of it. I'm sure it has it's applications, but I'd rather have the ambient noise. Still loving the channel Mark. Too poor to buy anything you review, but I can dream!

Yeah - it's great without the noise cancelling. But who knows - one day you may need it. Live streaming in a hurricane?? We've got you covered.

@Aprons & Overalls You forgot to mention that there's a limit though, if something has to be recorded, but the background sound is absolutely overbearing and overshadowing the speaker/vlogger, I'll take the tin-ny sound of the noise cancelling over that any day of the week. I've seen this before from novice vloggers, you might ask "Why didn't they just move to a quieter place?" I asked the same thing... I think this is where the noise cancelling shines, and you want that in your arsenal of tools for the 'just in case'.

Me too. I think some people like me have nothing against busy noise and such. Loud noise never bothers me. While for others it can be very annoying.

Noice cancelling is great if you do full sound design for your projects.
My advice and this might sound weird is, record surround/ ambient sound separately & voice separate, then you unlock a whole world editing and better final products 😅

When compared side by side, noise cancelled audio always has that artificial sound to it. However, by itself and especially after a short while it starts to sound natural and pleasing. I’ve gone ahead and ordered the M1 but have some reservations about it not having internal recording so may ultimately switch it for the costlier DJI

First, my M1 is arriving today. Yeehaa. Regarding the noise canceling, I would need to do some tests to see if I can improve the quality in post. As it is straight out of camera, it does sound a bit like a transistor radio. So, I will perform some tests with the noise canceling and report back my findings. Thanks for producing another video about the M1. Having purchased it on Prime Day, I saved a substantial amount of money.

Hi Mark I have bought the Lark M2s to go with my ZVE10 but I am having a problem Mic 1 records to the L channel and Mic 2 to the right channel but I want them to record in stereo or else one of us comes out of the left speaker and the other the right is it possible to make them transmit to my ZVE10 or ZV1 in stereo? Even if I just use 1 of the mics and keep the other in the charging case it only records to 1 channel. I can change it to dual mono in FCPX in post but it is just one more step to faff around with, with every clip. any ideas?

I have bought M1. With noise cancellation, it reduces the volume. Do you think I made a mistake by buying M1 duo instead of rode/DJI single? I think rode/DJI does not have any extra button for removing background noise, it automatically removes it without compressing the volume. I get lots of your video suggestions, so today I subscribed.

Would this mic setup be suitable for a live event where the voice being captured by the wireless mic is boomed live through a large PA or would it be susceptible to feedback loop screeching or similar weirdness? Hi Mark, I recently switched to ZV-E10 from A6400 and realized that the ZV-e10 pre-amp is not as good as A6400.. when I use an external audio interface and plug that into my A6400 with 1 audio level, it's much better than ZV-E10 with 1 audio level. Do you feel the same? and the thing is, when I gained the audio level on my zv-e10 to about 5, I will get a better result..

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis

The zv-e10 can go lower than the a6400 in terms of volume. So the 1 is less loud than the 1 on the a6400. I find this very useful. Mics that would peak on my a7iii (similar setup to the a6400) sound good on the zv-e10. I set the zve10 at volume 3 usually when I plug in a mic. Sounds great.

Thanks for the info about Moma - I didn’t know that!! the sigma 56 is the best portrait lens you can get. but it’s a lot tighter than the 30. people use the 56 for shooting picture of people (usually head and shoulders) or if they want a closeup from pretty far away like in street photography or product photography. If that is all working, go into your camera's audio and switch your external audio input to mono.

With it on, it sounds more like a landline telephone from the 1970s. I guess you could fix it in post, but me being a sound guy first and a video guy second, it was noticeable. In some cases like the highway I would leave it off ( I guess I am weird but don't tell anyone). I did buy one for $115 on Prime Day ( Mark you evil &&@$^ you got me spending money again) for that amount it's worth a spin. Thanks

I think it’s a nice option to have - but I can’t really see myself using it unless in an extreme situation

Hey Mark good morning. You seem to always respond and be very helpful ive come to absolutely love and enjoy your channel, i recently told u i bought a zv-e10 and a crane m2s i also purchased the lark max kit im just a dumb oilfield boat capt and diver, ive wanted to start this for years but very intimidating. I dont know how to set my wireless mic set to my camera or what i should do. Do you have a video on zv-e10 and wireless mic connection or how to for a beginner? Thank you as always for any info and responding.

Much better without it on, too much phasing of your voice and other strange artefacts.
