First gen ZVE10 seems like it's still the best for long recording. I've recorded dozens of band performances with just the camera on a tripod with one of those AC adapters that fits into the battery slot and recorded for the entire 4 or so hours it takes to fill an SD card at 4k24. Even hot 90*F outdoor shows are not a problem... it just records until the card is full every single time.
That 4k24 overheating test for long form podcast was exactly what I needed to hear. Even my a7cii has overheating issues when shooting long form podcasts.
I've been using my Mark 1 with a dummy battery for a long while now, still works great for long use. Should be noted I don't record locally, but through OBS.
I have the bigger brother ZVE1 fullframe and it's a great camera. One advantage is that you can use prime lenses and still zoom in 1.5x so this is something to consider. Also better rolling shooter control, better ultra lowlight, and, for sure... the bigger sensor, shallower depth of field and a wider range of lenses. So I will buy a second one. I was thinking about those cropped ones, but I still prefer a pair of fullfremes on my lenses.
Very tempted on this, been wanting the original version forever, long time sony user have many lenses and had to go to DJI action to get to 4k recording, really miss using the good hardware. cant even zoom with the damn action cams
Honestly, for the cost, I will keep my original zv-e10 and get some lens. I am not making a movie or need the extra battery life. I like the fact that they went back to the Flick switch for the on/off. I didn't quite understand why the new kit lens is better. What makes it better?
Better build quality, slightly sharper image, updated look and feel! The previous lens over 10 years old, so there are just some better elements in this one.
I am considering purchasing this ZV-E10 M2 camera and would like to know if it is suitable for still photography or just good for video only? Thank you 🙏 so much
The internal mic didn't sound that great. Can you put a link to the external mic that you used and also any additional stuff like the tripod. Love the content, keep up the great work.
Sounds about right, streaming lasts way longer because you are not recording in camera. Once you start recording it heats up a lot more! Heat increases the higher resolution your record in 1080 -> 4k30 -> 4k60
Great video I recently got the zve10 but had to send it back because it was defective and I already have accessories for it so I’m going to just get another one might get this upgrade in the future though.
Yeah this camera is not gonna be good for some people the over heating is enough for me to stick to zve10 mk1 garbage update , the point of the zve series is to make it affordable , anything past 1000 for this camera is simply not worth it . If your budget is 1000 then you can afford something a little more expensive because with tax your gonna be past 1k easily , not to mention for someone new with no lens at all and just getting started. Bad update on Sonys part . I’d wait for this price to drop or just go with the zve10 mk 1
Hey Sean! How about creating a video about the DO’S and DONT’S when scammers contact UA-cam Creators offering them a partnership collaboration? Or the PRO’s and CON’s spending tens of thousands of dollars on promoting videos through UA-cam ad promotions when NONE OF THE VIEWS count toward total watch hours needed for monetization…. these 2 topics should be covered with everyone here. thanks for the consideration. I have the a6700 that I use for protraits and little client work. Do you recommend also getting the zve10m2? I love the idea of a travel camera and like keeping them separate, but is it worth it at 1100?
If you already have the a6700, you could get the zve10m1 which would be cheaper and would look just as good. You could even get it a better deal picking up a used one!
We are working on on a HUGE battery test with this camera right now... stay tuned! 21 different overheating/battery tests in different camera configurations! This will answer all!
So watching this video, I have a big doubt now. Should I buy this and then use it for the next two years? Or Should I buy zv e10 m1 at half the price, use it for 1 year and then get a Sony ZV e1. Please help me, I have started a content creation agency, but I have 1 client for now and money is an issue as I invested heavily in setups and lightings.
Depends on what you use it for. If 4k30 video or photos is enough for you, the M1 is plenty and should easily serve you for more than a yaer. The Mark 2 upgrades are good for advanced post-processing, but adding almost half of the Mark 1's price on top just doesn't feel worth it. The Mark 1 is a fenomenal value for money and if the Mark 2 causes the Mark 1 to get a discount, even better!
I'm a professional photographer and i was planning to buy zv e 10 to record some bts videos and some random vlogs and reels for my socials. with this new upgrade now im thinking, what really i would miss if i go with a cheaper ZV-e10?
This doesn't seem like enough of an upgrade to drop another grand on it, but it's decent. Except the mic - that needs to go back to the drawing board. The lens is interesting, though.
@@ThinkMediaTV Okay, great! I was going to film more videos today (I've done two with the camera so far) and was debating on getting the 50mm lens to use instead of the kit lens. But I'm not sure. Also, do you have a recommendation for an overhead setup and what's the name of the mic boom arm in this video? Thanks!
Check out this setup we put together, might help a bit ua-cam.com/video/EFPi_pJMK7g/v-deo.html Also Kraig is using the "Neewer Low-profile Desk-Mount Boom Arm" I will link it in the youtube description for you!
So which camera would you recommend for podcast recording that is at least an hour and a few minutes? I need a camera that can handle long form content.
I think Sony did a great job, but also a bad job, because it's too late! Now, in this moment, Canon is actually updating its camera lines, and very soon will be its APS-C line. This seems like bad news for Sony, especially for the Sony ZVE10 II. There's a 90% probability that the Canon EOS R7 Mark II would have C-Log2, which means a 14+ Dynamic Range and Dual ISO (that could be also the sensor of the Canon C70). That means more frame rates, maybe 4K 120 uncropped 10-bit and 240p Full HD 10-bit uncropped with dual slot SD card for $1400 to $1600. But the bad news for Sony is that Canon is going to release the Canon EOS R10 Mark II with the sensor and capabilities inside of the already existing Canon EOS R7 for $1000 with IBIS. This is actually way better than the Sony ZVE10 II. And the Canon EOS R10, the actual competitor of the Sony ZVE10 II, will drop in price to $500 to $600, and the Canon EOS R50 to $300 to $400. Even worse for Sony, the Canon EOS R50 Mark II for $500 to $700 with the same sensor, specs, and capabilities as the Canon EOS R10, which is the competitor of the Sony ZVE10 II for now. So, Sony could be in trouble very soon with the Sony ZVE10 Mark II and will be forced to drop the price to $700 or less faster than we expect because of competitor's newest releases.
Yeah this camera will be great for both vlogging and studio recording environments. The DJI pocket 3 is really geared towards vlogging and causal b-roll. There is certainly a place for both though!
From videos I’ve seen, didn’t the old ZV-E10 have unlimited recording time (inside or out) without overheating? So is the overheating issue now because of the new larger battery???
The original ZV-E10 does eventually overheat as well, but in our experience overheated less than this mark 2. But... we are going to do some really extensive testing here in the next couple weeks with both cameras once our production unit of the ZV-E10 mark 2 comes in! Stay tuned!
All I hear are complaints that this doesn't have IBIS. Sony seems to make camera for very targeted markets... So removing Ibis makes us cheaper and smaller. I guess? It's a thousand bucks and meant for vloggers..... last time I checked almost every blog I ever watch is someone recording on a tripod. Hence not necessarily a huge need for IBIS and if the software can suffice at times when necessary. Seems reasonable enough.
I went to B & H from your link. It say you can attach a 3.5 mm microphone, can you show how to do this? I make my UA-cam videos with my iPhone and built in microphone but I want to upgrade with better audio and video.
The original E-10 was limited to 720p when streaming using the USB-C. So the MKII will stream 4k 30 using the same USB-C port? I don't want to have to use a Capture Card but still want to stream in 4K.
I produce beauty content and need a screen that flips up rather than to the side. I am using an old Samsung camera at present but would be open to suggestions about new cameras. Though the one I have is doing pretty well so far.
It doesn’t have the same sensor as the mark 1 if that’s what you’re thinking. Same sensor as the FX30, which is way better than the mark 1. But the mark 1 is solid!
Also, if youre streaming u dont need to record internally to the camera, u can record using a 3rd party software on your computer. This would avoid the heat issue and all together you can stream as long as you want.
@@DjSparkxI have a Sony ZV-1 and that’s what I do and that (a lesser camera), works with a dummy battery without overheating and then stream into OBS to record and live stream. I once live streamed for 12 hours with my ZV-1
I agree. Streaming with a dummy battery would extend the time before overheating. I do think this will still be a problem and will still overheat eventually - I use my camera as a webcam and have it on all day jumping in and out of calls. FX30, A7siii and FX3 are the only ones that never over heat for me - and I am using a dummy battery.
I new it would happen this summer, but despite this bought mark 1 less than a month ago. Mine was €600 this would be €999 plus overheating in studio… So don’t worry :)
So no one speaks about the body material could you please tell me about that is it plasticky like the mark 1 or is it like the other body material like in the a6700?
Ad revenue from shorts is very low in comparison to regular youtube videos. If you only wanted to do shorts, consider different streams of revenue for your channel, like affiliate marketing, digital products etc.
This camera is way overpriced. As soon as I saw announcement, I checked barely used A6700. 50$ more.... Let's be real, unless this drops by 100-200$, people can get an R50 for half the price, at basically same capabilities. I'm driving up to BKK to buy a way superior A6700, for 50$ more.
Where is 1080p overheat tests? So far, Ive seen everyone doing it at 4K, but realistic target crowd is streamers. Most of them still do 1080p/60, a duration test with USB-C and wall adapters
Not totally true. Working on a HUGE overheating test with this camera right now, and the dummy battery helps... but in some situations it doesn't. Stay tuned!

It'll be pretty similar to 24fps, just a little bit worse. Not by much though. The increased frame rate will generate more heat.

8 bit? In 2024? 😮
This camera shoots 10 bit in most resolutions and frame rates
When will sony a7 5 launch 🤔
For longer hours of live streaming, can't you just use a dummy battery with AC power?
Absolutely!
First like🎉
Where's Nolan Molt? Oh yeah, I forgot.😀😄😆
Silly
sony will give you everything except software updates.
😅
Is it weather sealed?
No.
Where is 1080p overheat tests? So far, Ive seen everyone doing it at 4K, but realistic target crowd is streamers. Most of them still do 1080p/60, a duration test with USB-C and wall adapters
Coming in the next few days! Stay tuned!
@@ThinkMediaTV Got a streamer friend this camera for upgrade, should get set up tomorrow. Will provide feedback too when possible.
You just have to get a dummy battery with the door open and you’ll be fine. Can record all day that way.
Not totally true. Working on a HUGE overheating test with this camera right now, and the dummy battery helps... but in some situations it doesn't. Stay tuned!
does it still have super bad rolling shutter?
No. Same as the 6700 and fx30 much faster readout speed
Where is Omar
Crushing it on his channel 👊🏻💯
I miss nolan 😢
First

The internal microphone sounds like poop.....just what you'd expect.
I wonder how much SONY is paying to all these UA-camrs😮😮
