Love the overview! Good to know you still love the Sigma, especially for the studio. I was a bit bummed when the Sonys came out. However, since I am not as beautiful as you are handsome, which is very, I'm not gimbal or vlogging and you have brightened my day by legitimizing my in home Sigma 16 as the daily driver!

Tamron 11-20 is calling my name to get paired up with my sigma 18-50. Sigma 16mm f1.4 is a really cool and fun lens too but it’s definitely just a touch too tight for self filming outside of the studio.

Great video Mark! I have had a few of these.
Sigma 16, legendary lens, sold it. I still ask myself why I did that. I have the Sony 15 - what a lens! Color rendition better than the Sigma, full featured and tiny. The Sigma just edges it on bokeh. Also have the Sony 11. It's an off label G lens in my book and the best vlog lens ever. The Samyang 12 was pretty good, but I reckon the Sony 11 is better, plus it's a Samyang so I sold it. I know. I haven't had the Viltrox and the Tamron, because, well Viltrox and Tamron. I know, I know. Don't have the Sony 10-20 because of F4 and I already have the Sony 10-18 with OSS that can also be a cheeky FF 12mm when it wants. Thanks again for these awesome videos. Your advice is solid.

great video. picked up the sigma 16 and tamron 11-20 because of your reviews and am quite happy. video request: can you do one of your thorough breakdowns for the sigma 18-35 and sigma 50-100 (both f/1.8) with the MC-11 adapter (which allows for the canon lenses to be used on sony e-mount), and all the lens firmware updated. sigma used to make an a-mount version but discontinued it after sony moved to e-mount for everything. apparently these are two of the best lenses for aps-c cameras but since there isn't an e-mount version, they fly really far under the radar for sony A6X000/ZVE-10 users but they are used a lot on sony full frame in super 35 crop.

I do own the Viltrox 23mm. Thinking about getting the Sigma 18-50 and the either the Sony 11 or Viltrox 13 for the kit. Leaning for the 11, as sometimes I do some interior design photography for my wife. THe 18-50 would cover the 23mm territory, and I think the 18mm with a gimbal would also work for some tournament/sports vlogging (while having some room to get to 50mm for some closer shots). All that paired with a Crane M3+A6400.

Let’s go ultra viral ♥️ I have the sigma a long time now, but after I bought the Tamron for outside, I recognized that the sigma is not wide enough for my Studio Main Camera but 13-14mm would be better. It went to the second angle and the tamron was my main lense for a month now, but I am kinda missing the 1.4 so I ordered the viltrox today. Can’t wait to test it and finally have the Tamron free again to put on my zv e10 for photos without touching my setup :)

Great video as always Mark! I think there might be another budget option for an ultra wide (manual), but I'm not sure it would work, might be a good idea for a video.
The TTArtisan 17mm f1.4 has a 40.5mm filter thread, the same as the kit lens. I was remembering your video on the Ulanzi WL-3, and I wonder if that adapter would work on the TTArtisan lens.
That would make it a $160 dollar combo for a 13mm f1.4, with the option of it also being a 17mm 1.4. Of course it's a manual lens, but could be an interesting option. I'd love you to try it on a video.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I'm in the same dilemma, Mark. I do vlogging (tho not the typical talking head shots; usually lifestyle videos like just the environment and what i'm doing, mostly indoors, unboxing & showcasing products in my 20sqm studio apartment; sometimes also portraits in casual family events; occasionally, travel photos). I have the ZV-E10, Crane M3 gimbal, and recently purchased the Tamron 17-70 f2.8 to be my main workhorse to replace the kitlens, but I never thought it would be just too heavy for my petite hands to bring around when going out, esp for the ZV-E10 lol (plus found out it can't work with my m3). So now, I'm in the hunt for one wide lens (preferably compact and a zoom because I've had the Samyang 12mm f2.0 but I felt limited by the fixed focal length for videos).
I've been considering the Sony 10-20 for its size and features such as the PZ (perfect for the ZV-E10 and M3); however, I can't help but be skeptical about the f4.0, which is most likely to be a problem when filming indoors/at night? (like when I'm having dinner or in a moody restaurant, I almost always wish I had a lens that can go wider than 2.8). I constantly shoot 4k24p at 1/48 SS btw.
If I could turn back time, I probably should have just picked up a Sigma 18-50 f2.8 (just thought the 70mm of the tamron would cover me more) and a 1.4 wide prime (probably the Sony 15 f1.4) that I can pack light and my gimbal can handle.
Sorry for the lengthy comment, but I'd love to hear your thoughts so I can finally make up my mind which lens to buy (or replace?) next 😅 Your videos are always of great help, so thank you!!!

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Nah, the fees and taxes are too high, same price as buying it here. I have the ZV e10, sigma 18-50 and Sony 70-350, and I want an all around ultra wide lens (video with my crane M3, photography, vlogging, landscape, etc.. not for studio), it has to be between the the Tamron 11-20 and the Sony 10-20 for the versatility, if i see myself using a focal length between these 3 zoom lenses very often then I'll get a prime. But it's hard to believe it's worth to get a bigger, heavier, more expensive (+100€ in my case), larger (specially at 11mm) just because 1 stop of light which I believe it's the only advantage of the Tamron, is it?... I think I'll wait for a comparison video :) Thanks for replying btw

What would you pick between the sony 11mm f1.8 and viltrox 13mm f1.4 for landscape/astro photography? I'm leaning towards the viltrox due to the f stop and I'd save a bit of money, but the size of the sony is very tempting for when I'm hiking. The only other lens I own is the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and these will go on my a6000. Thanks!

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  2 роки тому +1

that’s tough - I love the images out of the Viltrox and it’s a brighter lens. However, you really would appreciate the 11 hiking though. That and the Sigma would be a small setup. The Viltrox is hefty, but excellent.

I want to replicate somewhat the look of a Leica Q2monochrome with my Sony A6600 (which I often shoot in monochrome). I have a Sony 35mm 1.8 lens but need something wider to get closer to the Leica q2 28mm look. I’m thinking the Sony 15mm 1.4 comes close. Also love the 11mm 1.8 but worry about distorted faces closer up. Any thoughts appreciated.

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis

The 15 will definitely be a closer match with its great quality - but it will be more of 23 or so. The Sony 20mm 1.8 G is not a bad option - it's full frame, but still a pretty small lens that will give you about a 30mm on the a6600.

the lens isn’t bad, but it is just outshined by the Viltrox and the 11 from Sony which are excellent. but they are also more expensive. I have some tests coming up that will show the differences. they’re pretty consistent with Arthur R and others. But in a lot of situations, the Samyang will serve you well.

In all seriousness, I bought the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and the Sigma 18-50mm kit lens replacement (my kit lens was not great quality) first, then when Sony released the trio, I decided to buy the 10-20mm f/4 in the interim - the 11mm and 15mm are the next steps. The viltrox isn't yet available via retail as far as I have been able to determine. I'm also grabbing the 18-105 f/4 because it is very cost effective for its feature set and video suitability.

Hi. Could someone offer a 2nd opinion to this noob suffering from analysis paralysis?
A channel uses 2 Black Magic cams with Olympus 12-40mm 2.8f PRO lenses.
    One overhead.
    One tabletop.
I love their look for my different genre (so not rivaling them, I just like their production.)
Dark studio with bright lights on subject.
From a behind the scenes photo, table cam gets about a foot away from subject mostly. Sometimes three.
I have a Dougie (sp?) Sony ZV e10.
Will someone compare these at BH and let me know if I'm on the right track to selecting a comparable lens? I don't expect exact same. Just beginner level comparable shooting conditions and improve upon when I get better. I need to pee or get off the pot. Lol
    Target quality:
    Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO
(24-80mm 35mm-equivalent for Micro Four Thirds)
    Ideas:
Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E
    (27-75mm 35mm-equivalent)
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens (Sony E)
