I think the “all or nothing” concept is really setting you back! Eating a bite of a pizza is not “cheating” and doesn’t make you any more or less healthy. Think about your overall health and diet from a weekly/monthly perspective, rather than a daily basis. You will end up “cheating” more badly if you try so hard to prevent yourself from having those smaller “cheats”

So true. But for me..sometimes when I take a bite of something it’s all over lol. And I go crazy. So I can understand the feeling of just not wanting to tempt yourself. Maybe at some point in my journey I can let it go a little bit.

You are right, however she knows herself! One bits turns into two or one bite of every “bad” meal around her, and then in her case she won’t be making any progress!! I agree the all or nothing route can be self sabotaging but when you’re so used to eating whatever you want, sometimes that is the smartest path to take!

I agree, tho everyones different. I lost 120 lbs & i did it by having one free meal a week. Not a whole day-just a meal. It didnt slow my weight loss, i still did really well, and if i was craving something like Supreme pizza or taco bell or ben n jerrys, i'd have it on sunday. Id have a smallish breakfsst, usually an egg or 2 and some turkey bacon, & dinner would be my free meal, where i ate what i wanted, within reason. A free meal was 2 or 3 slices of pizza, or lasagna & a piece of buttered bread. It wasnt the WHOLE pizza, or 2 huge servings of lasagna. This also worked when i had social events, id just make my free meal on that day and use it to have cake if there was a bday party, ect.

I agree! I was very inflamed when I started seeing a health coach last year and we focused more on adding things to my diet instead of taking things out. I’m fortunate enough that I’m not a sweets person or someone who eats chips all the time so it was very easy to not worry about those. I work out maybe twice a week and go for walks and I’m so much stronger than I was last year bc I was doing the right workouts for my body. This is the first time I’ve been consistent with working out for this long of a period of time because I never stressed myself over not working out “enough.”

Girl you can still go out to wherever you want. You said “lifestyle”, being this strict will not result in a lifestyle change. Enjoy a dinner once or twice every couple weeks you’ll be on track still and be way happier.

I see a lot of people saying “drop the all or nothing mindset” and I just wanted to say, SHE HAS TO DO THIS HER OWN WAY. For some people the “all or nothing” mindset is the only way. I was weighting a lot in 2019 so I needed to make a change and I cut the junk food and the not so healthy food almost entirely for about 6-8 months and started exercising everyday. After that I reached a weight that I felt totally happy with and now I still eat clean but I let myself eat whatever I want when I feel like it, and I still exercise everyday. So, if the “all or nothing” works for her, just let her do that, everyone is different.

Try changing “i can’t have that” to “I don’t want that” we tend to want what we can’t have. Make the conscious decision that you do not want that because it is setting you back.
Remember a bite of something or one “unhealthy” meal is NOT going to make u gain weight. Eat a big salad before anything at a restaurant and if u still want the “cheat meal” then have it… most of the time the salad will fill you up and you’ll not want to eat as much of the higher calorie foods.

Weight loss or not linear and everyone’s weight fluctuates each day, even while losing weight. It is normal for it to go up and down, but the trend will be down. So if the scale going up causes you to feel bad, maybe try only weighing yourself each week. It’s so easy to become obsessed with the scale, when that’s not painting the whole picture!

As a health coach, the biggest tip I have for eating out is focusing on veggies and protein! The sneaky ingredients that can make you feel like crap at restaurants are usually in the dips, sauces and dressings. Lots of random soy, sodium, sugar and processed oils. Not saying to not get any sauce or dressing, but if you focus on getting veggies and protein & get the sauce on the side you can decide how much you want to consume!
I’m a hugeee foodie and love eating but sometimes the way you feel after eating at restaurants isn’t worth it! Like you’ve said multiple times, it’s not always about weight loss it’s truly about how you feel afterward.

Date night with NO food! Bowling, axe throwing, batting cages, hiking, rock climbing (in or outdoor), laser tag... I'm sure there's lots of others but that's what I was thinking! Also, even trying to watch what you eat you can still eat out- just like at home, make adjustments and understand going out to eat is a one-off in and of itself, therefore if you aren't super strict, its OK!

I am really concerned that you’re developing a really unhealthy relationship with food - just due to the significant amount of diet culture rhetoric I’ve heard in this series. I genuinely feel for you here as I’m on a lifestyle change as well. One thing I’ve learned is that if your truly what to sustain this for a lifetime, you can’t use words like “cheat day”. Some days you will eat nutritious food, other days you may not. Eating pizza and birthday cake with your nieces are special experiences and I hope you find a way to give yourself grace and balance to do both. I highly recommend speak to a dietician if you’re truly looking to achieve balance. Best of luck to you girly ❤️

    • @courtneyscott7131
      @courtneyscott7131 2 роки тому +5

In multiples of these videos she mentions that she eats an EXTREMELY light, non-nutrient dense breakfast, eats nothing all day, and then a very light dinner. If these videos are accurate, on average she’s eating 1,000 calories a day or less.. even children are supposed to eat more than that. Her mood is fluctuating and it’s apparent that she’s developing a really unhealthy relationship with food. In her most recent episode, she openly admits that shes developed an addiction to the scale, when at first she mentioned that it wasn’t about numbers.. so clearly this overly restrictive diet is causing her a lot of mental stress and fixation on weight loss. The people in her life should be promoting balance and happiness, not crash diets or over-indulging. But in a later episode, she mentions that her mom is doing a “crazy vegetables only diet”.. so, sadly, I’m worried that some of the people around her may be perpetuating this. I’m not saying she’s wrong for wanting to lose weight.. I’m saying that this method could lead to an ED. Take it from me.. i almost ventured into binging + vomiting to maintain my weight loss before I found a nutritionist. I’m happier, healthier, and still feel good about my weight. There’s a way to do both without the mental stress.

The WORST thing you can do is deprive yourself of things you really love to eat. Forbidden fruit is real, and deprivation just makes you want it more. The trick is to tackle the portion size, and pair it with a healthy option. You can have pizza- one slice will satisfy the craving, and maybe add a small salad to fill you up. Most of people's issues with food are mental, so you just have to play the game and retrain your brain. The key is to BE CONSISTENT with it, and soon enough, it will be a habit. Stay on your grind, but don't beat yourself up, just keep going!

I think a lot of ppl comment about her being so strict and that her "all or nothing" mentality is holding her back. But what they don't realize is for a lot of ppl they become addicted to food, so giving into a food craving will literally snowball into cheating consistently. For some ppl they can give into a craving and jump right back into a healthy lifestyle but for others that won't work Bc they are literally addicted to carbs or sugar. I applaud her for showing a very real representation of how hard it can be to change eating habits. I think she is trying to get healthy and feel better and I appreciate her being so vulnerable.

As someone who suffered from disordered eating, and is now a self proclaimed “healthy person”... I found the key was 1. ONLY ELIMINATE what hurts you like allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances (for me, it’s dairy, shellfish, and red meat). & 2. Don’t restrict, just ADD. Add nutrition to each meal. Add balance to your plate. Add more home cooked meals. Add more intention and gratitude. Add love. If we focus on taking away, we will feel robbed. But if we focus on abundance and making a happier plate, you’ll build healthier habits much easier.

It took me months to cut out soda so that's all I focused on and I've never missed it since! Then I'd cut out something else, and so on. 6 months in then in added workouts. Maybe this would work for you?
I lost 90 lbs that way and I'm able to maintain but it did take a year and half. Remember it takes 6 months for your body to realize your making a change.

Im sincerely concerned about the negative relationship you are developing with food. I really feel that you would benefit from seeing a dietician and not just your family doctor. If you want this to be a lifestyle change and not just a crash diet then there has to be a way to include your guilty pleasures and indulgences in moderation. Wishing you all the best girl but hope you evolve your mindset to not think of certain foods as "bad"

Yes and be more educated on what is in your foods, those processed snacks, artificial sweeteners that are neurotoxins. It sucks that we have to do our own research instead of brands being clear about what's in them.

Yes! She uses food to cope with happy things and sad things, so just taking away one of your main coping mechanisms won’t be sustainable…. Like she needs better skills… weighing everyday and the roller coaster emotions are symptoms of losing her coping mechanism. Food is not this important “inflammation” isn’t usually the issue..

I think this could have been worded differently but over all still a good message. Like maybe try a bite of pizza not the whole piece or something? I don’t know if that’s helpful but I know you are trying your hardest and that’s awesome!

I would recommend picnics for date nights cause you can control the food and drinks and focus on activities as well eg the beach or a park but you still get out the house

I’m here with you girl. Today is my birthday and I’m literally feeling so sorry for myself that I don’t have friends, mostly because I have little dudes running around/moving/pandemic. But, instead of a New Years resolution I decided a birthday one. Because if I’m sitting here again on my 30th birthday feeling how I do now then I didn’t do my job of taking care of myself for one. Just here to support and vibe off your energy with your tribe.

Girl I body build and your video be hyping me up to not eat over my macros. Keep it up! But also don’t feel like you “can’t” indulge. It’s o k a y to indulge sometimes, but not everyday! I think tracking your food could help you see how much food you can actually eat within a day AND make progress with your health/weight!!! You’re spot on that prepping food takes over than doing makeup or hair sometimes too! I experience this on the reg these days, I’d rather have good food prepped than take an hour to straighten my hair to sit at work 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lean cuisine has many different types of meal choices. You can still have your pasta and lasagna and meals that look unhealthy without feeling guilty. I’ve tried the meals that have pasta in them and they are so satisfying.

everybody is going to say something different but the truth is that what works for you is something you'll have to figure out on your own. for me balance is everything, I don't limit myself. if I feel like eating a cupcake I'll go ahead and eat it but maybe I'll go for a longer walk later on that day. If I eat a salad for lunch I'll have a small bag of chips and if I drink a sugary drink that day I'll make sure to drink water for the rest of the day. to me there's no cheating, just balancing eating healthy as well as treating myself to snacks and treats but being responsible and it can be any given day not just weekends or specific days.

So I’ve noticed when I just don’t care and don’t obsess about what I’m eating, I maintain good weight. When I just buy lower calorie snacks I love (yogurt, string cheese, bolthouse smoothies, fruit) and then include veggies in every meal, I lose weight. And I still eat chips and Oreos!

Hey Girl love this series u are so inspiring, we are doing this challenge and in this together, holding each-other accountable. One tip because I love u, STOP going by the scale, it’s traumatizing and just mentally unhealthy. Just grab a pair of ur fav jeans that u can no longer fit and use that as ur means of measurement and how much ur loosing. The bigger the jeans fit the more weigh ur loosing, it’s so encouraging and inspiring I love this method much better and I know u will too! ❤️
