I had a checkup done there this spring. No appointment, all the test done, results and doctor consultation in and out in less than two hours. I'd advise looking at the hospitals website as they do sometimes offer specials on certain tests, etc. Definitely recommend, even if you're here on holiday.
Thanks, Heath. I will book one on my November visit. Just to check, all is OK. I am due to retire there in 2 years. If any nasties show up, hopefully, they will get treated by the NHS.
I had quite the scare about 2 months ago after a random blood check with my men's health doctor. Thought I had cancer, went to two different places, was misdiagnosed by one but at Pattaya International Hospital, I think I had about 30 or 40 different test and with meds and treatment I think the cost came out to be around B20,000 out of pocket after being correctly diagnosed with a bit of a rare autoimmune disease. Probably 6 visits to the hospital and meetings with my hematologist in total for around $500 US is very inexpensive for quality care. Point of the story is get health insurance up front because now nobody will cover me and my now pre-existing chronic disorder.
13,845 rouble for 4,800 bahts. When I first came to Thailand Rouble was at par with Thai bath... I understand why russian strugle so much now. Thanks for the video. See you soon!
Interesting but it does not seem to have hindered the number of Russia visitors .Thailand made visas easier for them though .They get 3 months on arrival ?
Make sure after you have been 'checked , tested' that you get the results! Too many times the bill (bin) only states what you have requested to be checked! The results??
Also the other checkup is Optometrist every year,Cardiologist every 2 years unless you have a problem,CBC every year, colorectal surgeon every 5 years is a must .
Well done Heath, a valuable video, hopefully people there are paying Health Insurance as a matter of course? One thing that is not clear is whether you pay healthcare insurance? I am deducing you don’t and that is why you had to pay a lump sum for the battery of tests? If you pay a monthly premium, would those tests be paid for by your health provider? I can see a follow up video idea emerging, can you?
I believe you were back in England recently, could you have had these tests done there? I have been living in Thailand for 2 years (aged72) and return to Australia approx. every 8 months, and have all tests done there, including Cardiologist and Dermatologist (book 3 months before travel). All the tests are free under Australian Medicare, and my doctor can compare results going back a number of years. I also pickup blood pressure meds- six months supply is max you can take out of country. I don’t travel just for the tests, but they do help offset the cost of the airfares.
My doctor tells me he has a number of patients who live overseas, but travel back to Australia for full health checks. I am also privately unsure just how good the medical standard is in Thailand. I have been advised that if I need hospitalization, it is better to try and be admitted to a Military Hospital, as majority of their doctors have received training in the US.
Thank you for your input and feedback. During my visit to the UK in 2022, I tried to schedule a health check but was informed that, due to staff shortages, they couldn't accommodate it within the time I was there unless I had a known condition or symptoms. In contrast, I find that health checks, eye tests, and dental appointments are much easier to arrange here. Good tip about the military hospitals. 👍
Thanks again Heath for your content! I have a question about buying music gear in particular Synthesizers. Perhaps you can answer this question, because you are also in music. When I relocate to Thailand is it possible to buy for example a "Moog Muse" or "Sequential Prophet 10" in Thailand or do I have to bring the Synths with me and pay the import fee?
You would need to go to Bangkok for any serious music shops. If you know what you want then you can get most keyboards online. There are not many opportunities for foreigners to play here, specially if your synth needs an amp etc...
@@fromoneendofthailand Thank you very much for your answer! I am playing only at home and publish sometimes on UA-cam on my channel "Tom ambient music". In the long term you need a hobby to not get bored :)
Heath being in the Medical Field as a Paramedic many people ask me what i can do about my health.I help as much as possible many leave it to late to get the checkups then its to late me get all the checkups every year for the Lot.
good video. though i have lived in jomtien for years and started coming to thailand in 2006. to each their own. though there is nothing "standard" to me of a checkup. at 60yoa and is good, not great physical condition i go to the Bangkok hospital website and plus i know all the urine/blood test to be completed. i go to a reputable clinic in jomiten and same $. i go to pattaya international hospital and do: EKG, chest xtray and treadmill stress test. for anyone, especially males over 50yoa the 'backside should be checked and done via a colonoscopy ever 5 or 10yrs. i then take the reports to my doctor in jomtien and discuss. most you can read IF there is an issue or concern. then some of the test: CBC, PSA and a few others i do ever 6 months. video was good. do not pass up on the quality and inexpensive thai healthcare. do not let the marketing fool you: bangkok hosptial pattaya is great..but unless a serious injury or illness both pattaya memorial and pattaya international are good hosptials, clean and professional and less cost.
Pattaya Memorial Hospital does very thorough checks. It`s a hospital with a very good reputation. If they say you`re fine, you are indeed fine. Hope all went well! One other question, Heath: I have never seen you on a motorbike. Don`t you drive one, or do you have a reason not to drive one? I find driving motorbikes very unproblematic in Thailand. Many foreigners drive one, without having any experience from before they came to Thailand. You are also used to driving on the left side, coming from UK. I am just curious, Heath, feel free to answer. Have a great evening! 😊😊
@@fromoneendofthailand Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you recovered well after that horrible experience. Then it makes perfect sense. Pattaya and Jomtien do have many options getting from A to B, so it's definitely not a must to drive your own motorbike 😊
To be honest I wouldnt go near the place, last time I did I sat there and froze, after 90 mins of waiting to see a Dr and being ignored I left, being in a wheelchair and not so much as offered a blanket - that was after giving them the benefit of the doubt after a minor op I had there several yrs ago which they made a hash of? never again, hospitals are a business here in Thailand before anything else?

Heath, thank you for giving us this information. How do they deliver the results, do they give you print outs . Did you you consider other hospitals in the area for these tests, and if so why did you choose PMH .Thank you.
They give you printouts of your results. I chose this hospital as I went there a while ago when I banged my head and they were very honest with me and said I never needed any treatment when I feel they could have got more money from me and kept me in overnight for observation if they were like that. Seemed honest to me.

Phayathai 2 Hospital Bangkok last time I checked had health checks online for ฿2850 (incl. blood & urine)
I needed the ECG that wasn’t in the basic package and there was a fee to see the doctor. The link to all the packages is in the description.
