Kodaka has said this plenty of times. He's definitely still interested in the series and I can see him making a new game down the line, but I think it's obvious that he wants to work on some other projects besides Danganronpa. With that being said, a new mainline game would be awesome (still hoping for a Rantaro game), but as you said, it definitely won't happen for a while.
I think it's a good thing that kodaka is just trying new things. Sometimes a new way of thinking can bring forth new ideas for old ideas. If he does return then I know it'll be with a fresh new set of ideas that will blow our minds 😄

@@ethanpeacock63 if we're going by what happened in the finale of v3, there are, in the canon universe, 49 killing games we didn't see. those could certainly be a good starting place for another danganronpa game. especially since there have been people who wanted to see the killing game rantarou was in. alternatively, there could be a game that takes place after v3 similar to udg in playing style that's about taking down team danganronpa for good. something abt how team danganronpa wasn't entirely taken down by shuuichi's speech, etc etc

Hopefully we’ll get a female protagonist that survives and our first killing game male mastermind in a visual novel type game. (I don’t really know if Danganronpa 3 counts) Hajime/Kamakura isn’t really much of a mastermind to me.
Hopefully we get something new for Danganronpa 🙏. V3's ending was not really a satisfactory way to end a franchise imo. Especially since Danganronpa S came out afterwards

I wouldn't be surprised if V3 just stays as a standalone game. It's presence in the fanbase is pretty split. So, either it would be either A treated as a soft reboot, and it continues to expand this new universe or two the new game is a soft reboot and V3 isn't mentioned at all until the bonus moods. Just my take but who knows.

I'm honestly very stoked about Rain Code, especially with how good it looks. The characters, 3D models, animation, and backgrounds look amazing. Compared to UDG, it looks like a big improvement (in terms of graphics)!

In Chp1, they kept it an "accidental kill" but with a new take and a big plot twist, with having the survivors trying for real to stop the game from day 1. Ever since Kaede's case is closed, the other chapters followed the old school way, as if none of what happened in Chp1 exited and all what Kaede tried to build for died with her.
I want to see a new danganronpa killing game that has nothing to do with the other games because Im tired of seeing junko shes not even a good mastermind

Honestly I don't care for a new killing game with a new cast. It might be for my bias towards the first and second game, but I would much rather see a proper rework of the entire franchise. it Is an extremely wishful and unrealistic idea, but the danganronpa name is already heavily tainted. I'd totally be down for a reboot of or even rewrite of trigger happy havoc.
I honestly don't think the dr team could do anything new to switch up the formula, in every game so far there's been 2 deaths in chapter 3, buff character dying in chapter 4, antagonist dying in chapter 5 etc, it's so predictable.. (from what I've seen the fanganronpa's have already done at least 2 major things that fans have wanted for years, just imagining the possibility of the actual team doing the same and people giving all the credit to them is a bit off putting to me (if this makes any sense at all). I feel like an UDG 2 or something like that would be really cool (Dr1 reboot or rewrite would be nice too since compared to dr2 and v3 the cases aren't too complex).
