so this car is running a whipple base tune with long tubes and not cats with out check engine light? Whipple told me that they could not tune for that when i sent them an email.
Hey John, The Whipple calibration is 50 state legal and isn't designed to run longtubes without cats. However on our car we ran it that way and didn't have any issues. Eventually if you run an offroad setup on their tune you will throw a CEL light. Whipple also won't turn off any emissions stuff in their tunes so if you want optimum performance for an offroad setup we recommend getting a custom tune. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Bought a stage 2 whipple. Lost motor within a hundred miles. Mike who is the manager with whipple has not returned phone calls. Car is otherwise stock. New motor installed and engine light will not shut off.
No ticks. motor had 3,000 miles on it when I installed it. It through a misfire in first thousand revolutions upon start up code. So I was talking to tech support and was advised to switch plug then injector. So I did both items.
Long tube headders cold air intake free flow cats x pipe 3 inch exhaust 4.10 gears 10 speed auto trans and a custom tune is the bay set up for the 2018 mustang
One more thing .. can you give an estimated cost for a Whipple Stage 2 install on the 18 Mustang GT ? Obviously this will vary .. just looking for a benchmark figure. Thanks!
I wish I could give you an accurate number of what that will cost but we're not an installation facility here so I've got no idea how a shop will quote it. Give Power by the Hour a call as they installed ours. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to provide you with a quote. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Just got a quote for a base model 18 with digital dash conversion stage 2 whipple for 850 hp Viking rear shocks and drag springs with 10 speed and delivery for 48
I think whipple makes a nice product but for years people been complaining about the fact that it’s too quiet we want to hear that wine like Kenny bell something
I do have a question regarding pulley sizes. Starting off, im in cali and we only have 91 octane. Looked at whipples tech info on this unit and it seems to suggest that pully size 3.75 inches and smaller require 93 or higher. Is this true or can you still go all out on, say a 3.5 pulley on 91? I ask because the carb certification for this unit lists all pulley sizes as legal. Just dont know if its ok with only 91 to run smaller sized pulleys.
Redfire 281 you can run the kit on 91 with the pulley that comes with it. I wouldn’t suggest running the 3.50 on 91 though. That’s definitely not recommended. You’ll need more octane to run the 3.50 safely. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Whats the maintenance cycle on the intercooler? Do you send it back to be rebuilt? I'd hate have my air water interface spring a leak and have no way to repair.
The intercooler really doesn't require maintenance nor have we ever had a failure with one of Whipple's cores. If for some reason you have a failure you'd want to reach out to Whipple and purchase the replacement core.
Does the stage 2 Tomahawk tune allow for the use of the kooks headers with off road pipes withought the check engine light coming on and runs smoothly? How much extra horsepower and torque does the kooks w offroad add? Awesome car. LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great information .. I'm on the fence but leaning hard towards the Stage2 Whipple. I'll contact Chris @ Lethal to figure out my particular E85 scenario! I'm in San Diego CA .. curious about warranty and install requirements. BTW .. I currently have the 18 Perf Pack GT Auto, Lund E85 Tune, Resonator Delete, with HPipe .. suspension mods complete!
IAT's aren't a thing anymore with the new Gen 5 kits from Whipple. Their intercooler setup is unreal. Super efficient with zero heat soak. Even at 18-19 psi we never had timing pulled from high IATs.
I'm on the fence between the Procharger D1X Stage 2 or Whipple Gen 5, 3.0 this video may have helped me decide. My questions to you. Are you running the standard 6 rib pulley or the upgraded 10 rib pulley from Whipple? If you mentioned this early on, my apology for missing that info. Thanks
Engine is totally different than a 2015-17 from the internals, the dual fuel system, crank, the heads, intake manifold, cams, etc. It is an all new engine. Which is why I avoided buying first year and second year (2019). These new 5.0's are almost a 5.1L rounded down, whereas the old 2011-2017 motors are 4.9L rounded up. Plus people need to understand that the Mustangs motor is not E85 compatible. It can take upto E15 occasionally E20. The F150 5.0 is an evolution of the Crown Vic's 4.6L then 4.9L and has always been FlexFuel. The engine itself is not made for E85 whereas the F150 5.0 is. I have personal experiences with E30-E80 in a non FlexFuel engine, my 2013 5.0.... it corroded the internals and did other damage. Despite upgrading the fuel system and lines, we can't upgrade the engine unless we swap it out for the 395 hp F150's. But that engine's safe limit is to about 660-675hp crank, beyond that is at your own risk. so I'd 100 race gas or mix Torco for a 95 octane mix and had a self tuning tune that adjusts to weather, elevation, fuel etc on the fly. Os if you have lots of $$$ in the bank and it seems most of you that have videos do, then knock yourself out and play E85 or 50. Jsut know it won't last long. Engine and drivablity could start to occur after 500 miles or 12,000.... just throwing it out there.
Plus the 3.0 Whipple is their first upside down inverted supercharger. It is reversed. Completely new design from scratch for the new engine. The intercooler is now on top of the supercharger and of course the dual fuel system.
Does the tomahawk have the option to "look for smaller pulley"? I saw that on one of the tomahawk screen shot's but not sure if that's for the older cars only And down the road can lund or any other tuners make revisions on the tomahawk?
Maldwin Drummond the roush blower is rated at 700 crank hp. Whipple stage 1 is rated around 750+ crank hp and stage 2 somewhere over 815 + crank hp. Depends on things like pulley size and fuel octane(91, or 93+)
Great job I have a 16 with the stage2 Whipple it’s making 729 rwp and I blew the my-82 up so now running the Tremec T56xl with 2.97 first gear best pass 11.2 but I’m still spinning in 1-3 gears on nitto drag radials 30535/19 so gotta look for something else any suggestions
how are you installing a whipple3.0 on a brand new GT5.0 that did not come with the car from the ford factory and not voiding the warranty ? I would think doing it after the car was purchased would invalidate the car warrannty.?????
Adding aftermarket parts to an automobile doesn't automatically void the vehicles warranty. There's laws that protect people from that. You may want to do some reading on it to get a little more familiar with how it works. It's called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Hope that helps.
The only voided items would be those that the power adder effects. If an electronic part, or water pump, or A/C goes bad those type of parts are still warranty..
For better traction I'd definitely recommend a good drag radial like one from Mickey Thompson or Hoosier. Choosing the size will depend on what wheel you plan on running them with. For the suspension setup we've got a great entry level package called the Biscuits and Gravy kit. LP-PWR-S550BG. Those are the essentials. The next step up from there would be our Bread and Butter Package. LP-PWR-S550BB. That's the setup we run on our 18. Give us a call if you have any questions and we'll be glad to assist you. 561-753-8105.
We're not quite sure of that. Our experience with 3 of our MT-82 cars has been great. The quickest of them being our 2015 GT that went 9.7@150 with the stock MT-82. With that said we've seen others with way less power have failures. I'm sure there's lots of things that contribute to the failures out there not just one single issue that causes it.
ya i think that it comes down to how the car is driven; i don't think any transmission likes 5-6g clutch dumps and missed shifts lol. I think if a couple things like the shifter and changing to poly bushings in all the mounts were taken care of then the transmission should survive provided it is abused properly. Glad to hear that it can handle "big power" though.
i figured 650 wheel would be the max. being that the coyote is 11.0-1 compression much over that on pump wouldn't be safe anyways and there isn't e85 where i live. 650 is more than enough for a fun street car anyways.
F150 is rather different 5.0. For starters, the F150 5.0 has “slightly weaker”, different internals and the F150 5.0 is”FlexFuel” rated, as in you can use E16-E85, whereas the Mustang 5.0 is not FlexFuel/E85, yet many idiots run it. Build the motor and then it’ll drink E all day. The F’s 5.0 has 385-390 hp vs 460. That is a large margin. Build up the block, upgrade the oil pump gears and rear axles then swap in the much more efficient, refined 10R90 from the Camaro and you'll be done. That 10R90 is sourced from the GM full size SUV/PU line.
Our diff was whining after our 2nd trip to the track. Then we added some suspension stuff which increased the noise feedback through the car. We'll get the diff replaced at some point but it's not too much of a priority for us at this point.
jimmy Ripps we ran Racestar Recluse wheels with M&H front runners and Hoosier slicks. In all honesty probably will switch to a drag radial, although testing today at the track we got the 60’ down a couple tenths!
Utah county Picazo's page Whipple provides a bit less torque which is better for traction and much more HP potential especially on pump gas. With an auto there’s little point to more low end torque then the Whipple provides, the auto will just down shift on ya.
We just didn't plan that as part of our trip. Still had the opportunity to watch the Spain vs. Portugal game while we were in Cascais, Portugal which was an amazing experience.
Stangmode had removed seats, exhaust, drag radials and did suspension stuff to get mid 11's...I know, because I've done exactly the same stuff on my '18 A10 (except taking the front pass and rear seat out) and I run 11.6 @120 in a E85 tuned base GT.
Lethal Performance sure thing! just looked and sounded a bit erratic to me but ive little experience. im waiting for my 6gr manual v8 to reach me in the UK. good luck :)
Welcome to the world of 10R80's. There's a lot going on. Even from a stop going through a light you can switch through several gears very quickly. It's a hell of a transmission.
Haro Master it really depends on which setup you go with and what fuel you run. The stage 2 is what we’re running which has the larger throttle body. We made 755rwhp with it using the 3.75” pulley and 93 octane with some octane booster for safety.
As you are talking about a daily driver and as you just talk about the good stuff, what about talking about what is happening a the fuel gauge? I understand that it's going to dry the tank very quickly when driving spirited, and that's fair enough, but what about the fuel gauge/consumption when driving it as a daily driver, driving at legal speeds (local area/ highway) compared with stock. How about a bit more disclosure to customers?
Thanks for the comment. Fuel economy when driving normal will be very close to factory as you're not creating more power that requires more fuel consumption. Only when you get into boost and create more power does the engine require more fuel.
The stage 1 and 2 kits come with a 39lb injector upgrade. The stage 2 also includes a 415lph DW fuel pump. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
jusplayn2000 on my f150 in I press up and down on the little buttons on the shifter it lets my cycle between all 10 in white and current gear in yellow, just the current gear, or none
To bad ford cant put out a 1/4 mi ready street mustang like Dodge is doing with the 2019 Chally RT Scat 1320 edition. It gets gets the Demons trans-brake, upgraded rear half shafts, suspension, drag radials, engine cooling goodies from the Dermon and only a drivers seat however full interior can be had for $3000 more. $44k. Dodge says 11.6 to 11.7 sec @115-117. The 1/4 time pumles the Mustang.
Scott wads you’ve obviously never owned a s550 mustang. Engine is stout north or 800whp with just oil pump gears and crank sprocket gear. The 6r80 in my opinion is the strongest most reliable auto trans ford has ever produced. I myself have a Whipple 2017 gt mt82 with every bolt on possible making 722whp and its been going strong for many miles. Granted the mt82 isn’t a strong trans but the autos are incredible. Many components in the motor of the mustang are forged from factory. They take power and boost very well
Donald Smith You just don’t know ford like I know ford there is not been a year since 1995 that they haven’t produced hundreds of thousands vehicles with Mechanical and other flaws to save a few bucks on a part or many parts. I remember those that owned, power strokes bragging they Best diesel engine in the world with 20,000 miles on their diesel park next to a dodge that was 10 years old and had half million miles on it and would double that. I don’t care how well your car is running right now there is a part on there that they made a nickel extra like shaving off the quality and or designing it to fail prematurely you have to spend north of 50 grand to get quality at a Ford . it’s no surprise That they built some quality into it in 2019 the new mustangs will be 100 grand because that’s the only way ford can make a profit .trust me I’ll be right and within a few short years you won’t be able to purchase a Mustang for less than 100 grand, they are a one trick pony for the wealthy not for the average Americans that’s why everybody’s running over to Dodge
Scott wads did you just compare a dodge product as being better quality than a ford product? You can’t be serious right now... And as for Chevy, the camaros are blowing up motors like crazy with just bolt ons. Now don’t get me wrong, many ls motors are great and can handle great power, but the new ls motors are horrible. These coyote motors and taking a beating with north of 1000hp and hold up just fine. Many people can attest to that. Every brand has a flaw somewhere but ford is so far ahead of the game it’s not even funny. No one can compete with them and their sales show that. Yes the hellcat and demon are awesome vehicles, but for way less money you can make more power and have more reliability out of a coyote any day of the week. That’s just my opinion. Everyones option is different. Thanks for yours
@@Lethalcamp I guess you just don't sound like you were very involved in the conversion process. More like a droning sales pitch. May I recommend having someone who built the actual set up tell us about it. You may get more likes if you let someone that has a clue talk about it. Just saying you sound a bit out of your depth
BRANDON LONVELIN ***10 speed is faster than the auto... Faster isn't always better. It seems pretty boring to be driving around in a 700hp automatic mustang in my opinion
Malachi Jones idk I guess everyone prefers something different. I prefer the 10 speed auto. The transmissions suck with the stick shift in the 18 mustangs tho. They break down too much, no problems with the auto.
I totally understand preferring a manual car, but the review is about the power adder primarily. Regardless, no one wants to force you to drive an automatic. The 10R80 is simply quicker, more reliable. We're sort of entering that revolving door again, where the manual transmissions can't hold up to the power potential of these modern engines.. Third gen Camaros with the L98 back in their day, only available with a 700R4 auto. 305 TPI cars blowing non-world-class T5s, lol. At this point, however, it's unlikely that we'll see any manuals advanced beyond the performance of the TR-6060. I would have no doubt pondered buying a manual 2018 5.0 had it been offered with a TR-6060.
darknight160 they’ve been holding up very well. There’s a few cars making over 1000rwhp running high 8’s and low 9’s without any issues. Only time will tell.

755wheel 93 octane and stock engine. Damn that's the ragged edge bro.
This car ran 9.79 at 755wheel on 93 octane. You ain't bullshitting are you. Why not e85. How much power can stock engine handle.
Going to be buying a 19 & I am on the fence between the Whipple & the Hellion twins. Looks like I am a winner either way.

I think if a couple things like the shifter and changing to poly bushings in all the mounts were taken care of then the transmission should survive provided it is abused properly. Glad to hear that it can handle "big power" though.
Giftied well bro I blew 4th gear making 729 to the ground so I wouldn’t go over 650
i figured 650 wheel would be the max. being that the coyote is 11.0-1 compression much over that on pump wouldn't be safe anyways and there isn't e85 where i live. 650 is more than enough for a fun street car anyways.
I want that blower kit for my 2019 5.0 f150 but im told I cant have it, it dont exist 😪
Mexico,or South Florida buddy? Hmmm!
How much $ is the stage 2?
Does it come with warranty?
Is whipple able to load the tune for the headers and exhaust? Or do you have to do it some other way? Just ordered this kit yesterday
What that whine sounds??? Is it the axel ???
Our diff was whining after our 2nd trip to the track. Then we added some suspension stuff which increased the noise feedback through the car. We'll get the diff replaced at some point but it's not too much of a priority for us at this point.
What was the wheel and tire setup at the track?
jimmy Ripps we ran Racestar Recluse wheels with M&H front runners and Hoosier slicks. In all honesty probably will switch to a drag radial, although testing today at the track we got the 60’ down a couple tenths!
Why Whipple I know why but can you give us an explanation why they are better then tvs thanks
Utah county Picazo's page Whipple provides a bit less torque which is better for traction and much more HP potential especially on pump gas. With an auto there’s little point to more low end torque then the Whipple provides, the auto will just down shift on ya.
Why didn't you go to see the world cup in moscow?
We just didn't plan that as part of our trip. Still had the opportunity to watch the Spain vs. Portugal game while we were in Cascais, Portugal which was an amazing experience.
passenger seat belt
10.30 with a Whipple and Stangmode hit mid 11's with just a CAI and tune?
Englebert Humperdink Views you might wanna check again stangmode has NOT been 10's .
My bad and meant mid 11's!
137mph trap speeds is good for 9.7’s. The 60ft was a pitiful 1.70, cut a 1.3 and you’re at 9.7.
Stangmode had removed seats, exhaust, drag radials and did suspension stuff to get mid 11's...I know, because I've done exactly the same stuff on my '18 A10 (except taking the front pass and rear seat out) and I run 11.6 @120 in a E85 tuned base GT.
But is this Top notch?
BRASIL AQUI. Quantos cavalos esse câmbio aguenta?
700+
part iv (16.30) - that sounds and looks totally dreadful ! car transmission doesnt look to know what the hell to do. would that screw your engine?
Terry Turner the transmission works just fine. The car went 9.79@144 at ease and shifts like butter.
Man going to have to work a shi!! Ton of overtime now unless u feel generous enough to hook a brother up lol!!
T.J. lebenon for sells 2018 mustangs whippled for 39999 manual
convex I already own a 2018 premium pp1 since Feb wish they were doing that before I purchased mine
Thought they were selling Roush?
1/4 MILE?
He said 10.30's bro...I have seen this exact setup on 2 18's in my town run 9.80's with e85 and slicks...these cars are rockets.
How much hp does the Whipple add?
Haro Master it really depends on which setup you go with and what fuel you run. The stage 2 is what we’re running which has the larger throttle body. We made 755rwhp with it using the 3.75” pulley and 93 octane with some octane booster for safety.
@@Lethalcamp so do you have to have a certain tune with long tube headers and no cats with the Whipple
Should of had your windows rolled down to hear the car better
So no injector upgrades no upgrade fuel system nothing needs to be dun to the trany stock headers
The Stage 2 kit comes with 39lb injectors and a DeatschWerks 400lph fuel pump. No trans mods needed and will work with the factory exhaust!
But know, when u push more air into an engine, it will make more power with more flow from the exhaust.
CARB legal? I’m looking to purchase soon but I’m in San Diego!
Ben Munoz yes both stage 1 and 2 are legal for 2018 mustangs under eo# d-231-52
No injectors?
The stage 1 and 2 kits come with a 39lb injector upgrade. The stage 2 also includes a 415lph DW fuel pump.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Bad tune for the shifts
How did you get your gear light on dash to stay on? Is that part of tune? My 19 doesn't show gears unless I paddle shift.
jusplayn2000 on my f150 in I press up and down on the little buttons on the shifter it lets my cycle between all 10 in white and current gear in yellow, just the current gear, or none
In regular drive
What's that beeping sound we hear from time to time?
NutNbutSpeed the chime? good chance the numbnut holding the camera doesn't have his seat belt on.
08turboSS hate to ruin it for you but the 10spd 18’s are running mid 11’s and better with a tune, cold air & drag radials only...
need a better mic
One thing we do know is that the stock engine and transmission in Mustangs will Not live one week w/ anything north of 650 Hp
Mexico has smog laws. Enough of the BS. High flow cats don't slow your car down.
😴 blah blah...put the pedal to the metal already
Yaps for 16 minutes repeating the same info and just drones on. Then can't even get on it properly. 😁😂
Christian Specht “street review”. We have plenty of drag racing videos if that’s what you’re looking for.
@@Lethalcamp I guess you just don't sound like you were very involved in the conversion process. More like a droning sales pitch. May I recommend having someone who built the actual set up tell us about it. You may get more likes if you let someone that has a clue talk about it. Just saying you sound a bit out of your depth
Not a good review at all..
Lol insane automatic wow.... Suuuuuuure
"it's a 10 speed auto"... On to the next video lol
Malachi Jones 10 speed is better than the manual bro
BRANDON LONVELIN ***10 speed is faster than the auto... Faster isn't always better. It seems pretty boring to be driving around in a 700hp automatic mustang in my opinion
Malachi Jones till you try to launch her with that power on slicks and that IRS. You need a SRA to launch properly with a stick unless you’re Pilioti!
Do you have any idea on a limit to how much power the automatic transmission can handle?
darknight160 they’ve been holding up very well. There’s a few cars making over 1000rwhp running high 8’s and low 9’s without any issues.
Only time will tell.
Does the Whipple tune. Account for the long tube headers,no cats??
No it does not.
Any transmission work??
Stock 10R80 transmission.
