Hate on this recipe all you want but these are the recipes you never see in a book. Recipes like this are the legacy your grandmother leaves when she passes. I grew up eating this, and just as my family had for hundreds of years and my children will one day. She even said in this video it was not originally called pot pie! My grandmothers recipe even says Bott Bie. It was a dialect of German used by Amish called Pennsylvania Dutch. The name pot pie was just something created in translation.
Got to agree, any food manfacturer would not have allowed this. My mum is a supervisor, and despite not working on the food production line, just observing and checking quality control, she has to wear the full colthing, hair net, gloves, white coat, even no slip rubber shoes, ect.....while she is a nice presenter, all that hair flying around is asking for trouble.
Great video and very educational. My ONLY problem being it was a commercial/restaurant business was she NEVER wore a hairnet while she was preparing the food (making noodles, stiring the pot, etc.). I'm very skeptic about eating a Campbell's product now. If they would sponsor a video having a serious food violation like that with their good name attached to it, I can only image what they do behind closed doors.
Lancaster and most of PA: Chicken Pot pie is a stew like concoction with squares of thick noodles Rest Of USA: Chicken Pot Pie is a meat pie made in an oven
hey eater, dont think you have to plaster SPONSORED on the title of every video. just put it at the end of the video. I bet there are a lot of people that dont watch these videos thinking "oh its probably just a long advert" but these defo are not.
Karl Franks no, declare it but not in a way that might confuse people. right now it seems like this may be an advert for campbells when it totally isn't.
Definitely an entertaining video to watch. I know a little more about the region and the history... but i learned absolutely nothing about how to make a it or what it tastes like. Why should I go there and try this? Some more work needs to be done on this series.
I maybe fell just a little bit in love with Sofia... or perhaps just with my inner Sofia... the part of me that could give up the life I've known and find contentment in rolling noodles in Pennsylvania.
Lies! chiken pot pie is much older then stated in this video and is nothing like this modern version. Chiken pot pie originally was mad in a pot made of dough that was similar to hard tack. The chiken was skinned then the body cavity was filled with fresh fruit. The fruit filled chiken is then sealed in the pot made of dough and baked.
this was cute but something just doesn't seem right to me 😂 like I don't have super strong roots with the pa Dutch but the accent in my family always stuck. simply hearing someone who "grew up" with it call it POT PIE makes me cringe. you can always tell which you are talking about about here because the good stuff is pronounced more like "puh-pie" (actually watching this video and hearing what the pa Dutch originally call it makes so much sense so thanks on that) also side note: I know cambells was trying to make a like homie family dinner give with this but usually this is eaten by itself.. MAYBE with some rolls. and definitely in a bowl because IT'S LIKE A STEW HOW YOU JUST GONNA PUT IT ON A PLATE. like maybe getting multiple sources to make it more authentic. one more side note: riding in a buggie is so touristy. I've lived here my whole life I personally have never even seen any "english" riding in a buggie in lancaster. mmm.
As a former chef, these videos kinda frustrate me. Poor Camille just seemed to be getting in the way. As someone that's had moments with 'on camera personalities', you just wanna push them aside and get down to brass tacks about what you're doing and what's going on. Good video though!
+Werewolf Jones At the end of it all, not a lot of information was passed on. Some people stirred stuff in a pot, some noodles were rolled out - but what were we looking for? What makes a pot pie noodle? What are the qualities in the stewing chicken and broth that are necessary elements for this?
+Werewolf Jones Other than the name etymology, what's the origin basis for a chicken pot pie? Why would they do things this way? Cultural reasons? Practical reasons? Regional supply reasons? These are the questions I think your viewers have, and could have been answered more thoroughly. Laying a soft guitar overtop isn't going to fool people, when the questions asked at the start of the video by Campbells are largely ignored.
You're chicken pot pie doesn't have a crust? It's made with noodles? What? This is not what "pot pie" means to me. Please make a video on the genius person who added the crust, thus making it the dish we know and love today.
@@marshasweigart8506You're incorrect. Chicken pot pie has a pastry crust. What you think is pot pie is actually chicken Bott Boi with dumpling noodles. It more like chicken and dumplings. 😊
Really my only and biggest reason I did not like this was the fact that no attention was placed on the host's dirty looking, stringy hair hanging over everything she touched. This would never be permitted in a commercial kitchen. If the Health Department were there the whole meal would have been thrown out. Then they actually served this to people? When you do a video for people to watch and learn from, please follow health standards at least where hair confinement is so obviously needed.

you lost me when that Guitar kicked in
Where the hell is her hair net?!

I AGREE !!!
for real! that's a whole refund right there
Nice video. Yes, hair nets. I add a bit of saffron and parsley to mine.

I absolutely concur Sashacola.
Lancaster and most of PA: Chicken Pot pie is a stew like concoction with squares of thick noodles
Rest Of USA: Chicken Pot Pie is a meat pie made in an oven
This is beautiful cinematography.
I got slightly jealous around 3:56
So it's just chicken and dumplings
Her name is Camille Ford.
Pot Pie was our family's meal when we gathered together. Gotta eat it with vinegar!
UA-camSurfer vinegar?
Absolutely. Apple cider vinegar to be precise.
Sorry, but this explanation about the origin seems to be incorrect. The British were making full crust meat and vegetable pies hundreds of years ago.
Chicken pot pie is originaly a stew like they said and what your talking about is not even related to original chicken pot pie.
Wasn't she the host for food wars or whatever it was?
hey eater, dont think you have to plaster SPONSORED on the title of every video. just put it at the end of the video. I bet there are a lot of people that dont watch these videos thinking "oh its probably just a long advert" but these defo are not.
+Kuj0Jotar0 I get your point but you're advocating....less declaration of sponsored content??
Karl Franks
no, declare it but not in a way that might confuse people. right now it seems like this may be an advert for campbells when it totally isn't.
+Kuj0Jotar0 Who is this video sponsored by? It's not very clear.
2:26. Put your hair up lady...lol. eh...just saw Edmund's post. My peeps are from PA O.G.G.G. Original Great Great Grandfather.
Great video love chicken pot pie
Definitely an entertaining video to watch. I know a little more about the region and the history... but i learned absolutely nothing about how to make a it or what it tastes like. Why should I go there and try this? Some more work needs to be done on this series.
+Jonathan Gomes I agree.
I think because it's and ad they just want you thinking about pot pie next time you go grocery shopping
Looks like it needs a little seasoning or spice but still delicious
So chicken pot pie was born in a place named after a place based on a recipe from the original place. Righto.
that is not the original chicken pot pie
I maybe fell just a little bit in love with Sofia... or perhaps just with my inner Sofia... the part of me that could give up the life I've known and find contentment in rolling noodles in Pennsylvania.
lol
Is this why when I get pot pie at the restaurant it's just chicken soup? I want it in a pie.

This is the kind of pot pie I grew up with. I won't touch the crusted kind.
This lady is great.
No recipe?
From a country boy from Pennsylvania in Amish land this is pot pie what Southerners call pot pie we call meat pie
Weird to see home on UA-cam
I’m eating chicken pot pie atm
Perfect voice
they don't explain jacksh*t about how the dish is done.
+Giovanni Schulze Yep and its certainly not a pie. Other than learning its not a pie I still have little idea of what it is.
that is not the original chicken pot pie.
+Ben That is not the original reply.
+Werewolf Jones This is not the original combo breaker.
neva heard of this
Chicken pot pie was a pie made in yhr uk before all that
who is this woman?
+Sodacake yes, we demand answers !!~~
What is her name? for research purposes.
Slippery Chicken Pot Pie looks like a dry version of Southern Chicken Pastry. 🤔
Chicken pot pie more like Camille donk pie, mmm am I right fellas ?
Ooo whos the host
3:56
"in this country for 16 years" in case Home land is watching hahah
Nah the actual pot PIE looks way better
Isnt she the host of Food Wars?
thats not potpie
What is her name
thanks Robert Peters
I want her job ;-;
Yummy yum yum!!!!!
Annoying that Campbell's is posturing these sauces with this collection of silly video's. And still I watch them.

WHEN IN THE KITCHEN!
This girl needs her hair pulled back and a scarf or hair net over her hair!
And this is Southern Chicken and Rolled Dumplings!
I can help you brushing off that flower if you want.

+Werewolf Jones I agree with everything you have said, bit of a waste of time watching this video. btw, we didn't even see the chicken used.
😉
Thumbs up for Sofia.
Nice,amiable and good looking.
A classic beaty with a charming personallity.
If I had to have daughter as her, I woul be proud!
Girl, love the video but you got to get that hair in a hair net.
how sweet is she ..
yummz
If you want to find out about pies, you should really be in the north of England.
+Simon Webbon This pot pie is different than pot pie with crust. It's a PA dutch thing, and its wonderful. My mom makes the best as she is PA dutch.
@@fumantony8788This is not pot pie. 😊
Thanks Campbell for sponsoring and ruining future pot pies.
all this bollocks about being old school and we use phones and tablets all day.

Haha..4 yrs. later and what you're referring to is chicken pie...which does have a crust. We make that too but we love chicken pot pie.😋
@@marshasweigart8506You're incorrect. Chicken pot pie has a pastry crust. What you think is pot pie is actually chicken Bott Boi with dumpling noodles. It more like chicken and dumplings. 😊
should have picked a less ditzy person to host the show
+John Eli I agree, I don't like people who don't even attempt to do things properly ie, patting the pastry/dough. I'm not a fan.
Has to be stringy hair in the bot boi Terrible host
Extremely pro mini documentary.
Also you’re impossibly smoking hot beautiful.
Great personality but these videos are annoying. I don't sub for commercials.
"Flaky crust?" That's chicken pie, not chicken pot pie which I learned how to make from my mother.
You can't have a pie without pastry crust

tie your hair back!
Man she’s a bad one
Who's this women❓ She nice with it.👌 #SopThatUpWithABiscuit👅
