After a LOT of requests to review Marie Callender's Chicken Pot Pie I'm finally getting around to it! BUT I'm reviewing 2 other major brands along with it, Boston Market and Stouffers! Which one is your personal favorite? As always thank you all very much for all of your support! YOU THE PEOPLE.....please don't forget to *HIT* that like button!
@Real Dudes Party Nude I can not deny your claim, good sir. The highest point a pizza roll will ever reach is the formation of a turd after a long, vodka and rum driven night. One which the tongue of the consumer is already burnt by alcohol, and the mind is numbed by the same. When you can barely choose between gas or brakes, its a nice change to only have to poke a button and toss some garbage in once you get home. They are even easier to make than ramen...but not nearly as fun to burn your mouth on.
I absolutly agree. I have been an avid eater of chicken pot pies for 40 years and I can say without a doubt the Marie Callenders is the best regardless of the price. Thank you for the great review.
They have the best Salisbury steak for sure! Marie Callender’s is typically much higher quality than every other frozen food brand, although they can be quite expensive at times.
Don't know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!
Marie Callender's never disappoints me - always a decent product! Don't know too much about Boston Market, and Stouffer's used to be my "go-to" but they've gone downhill over the years! Great video, Larry!
Same. I like the matie callendars parmesan chicken pot pie. I moved to America from Mexico and wanted the true American home cookin type food experience. The first meal I ever had here was a marie callendars chicken pot pie and chicken and dumplings but i had it at THE ACTUAL MARIE CALENDARS RESTRAUNT BAKERY PLACE. It was AMAZING. Now i always keep some of the pot pies in my freezer as a comfort thing. I love white people food its so filling and warm and comforting
I can remember well eating chicken pot pies as a child. My mother fed them to us when we were little, and after I grew up, I figured I would try the beef pot pie and wow! I loved them lol! Heck I will still buy them from time to time.
We have both Marie Callender's and Boston Market here. I've have em' at Marie Callender's (Killer), but never at Boston Market. I'll try frozen and in shop!
Any frozen pot pies I cook, I take them out of the "crisper", put the top face down onto the baking tray, and bake it that way. Everything gets cooked perfectly as long as it wasn't badly broken when it was frozen. I'm not a huge fan of frozen pot pies, but that is the only way I will eat them and I have converted my mother to that way of baking them as well lol
Personally... I always dumped my pot pie upside down on a plate before eating it. If the pie stayed whole together I was very pleased with it. Marie Callenders always stayed whole.
I always save the baked pastry shell for last. I cut the top of the shell off with the edge of a knife, and lay it aside. Then I eat the cooked filling by itself, so that I have the entire baked pastry shell saved for last.
When I was growing up, in Canada, we had a brand of meat pies (Chicken, beef, or turkey.) from a brand called York. They don't exist anymore, but hands down they were one of the best meat pies on the market at the time.
I used to love these as a kid and always ate a piece of crispy edging crust alternated with a spoonful of filling. Now, decades later, I only enjoy frozen items like this as a rare treat.
I enjoy the marie ones when I wanna be fancy but I still go back to the banquet ones often just because they use potatoes in them. I know it's there as a cheap filler but I like potatoes in my pot pies. Awesome vid yet again!
Drknow1984 Uh banquet pot pies are small unlike back in the 80s.they use to be bigger but they are cheaper and you can keep em.on hand in case you don't feel like going out especially if your stuck at home during storms or a good movie is on while some religious bible thumper is knocking on your door ignoring him 😅
We have always loved the Marie Callender's. I would serve each person one with a side salad. Very good and Very filling. Stouffers used to be good, but their quality has gone down hill.
After my mom moved into assisted living, she wasn't too happy with the meals there as she was a great cook in her lifetime. We would take her to little local cafe every so often, and they had fairly good turkey and dressing dinners. The dressing was a little bland, so she would take along a container of sage and sprinkle it on her dressing, stir it in, and wait a few minutes. I tried it too, and it did help.I agree with you, love sage.
Anonymous Panacea Well the chicken is the only part that's been cut up and such from China cause of the new rules that allows China to butcher the chicken and other livestock and then sent back to our country to be put into foods like those pot pies.

I usually get the Marie Callender’s whenever it’s on sale. Great pot pie. I really want to try the Boston Market one now though. I’ll keep an eye out for it the next time I need my pot pie fix.
Hi Mr Wolfpit- I was so excited to see you did this one! I’ve done this taste test too many years ago. Pot pies are awesome! I prefer Marie’s the best. It has the best taste and crust. I still buy Marie’s from time to time. 1. Marie 2. Stouffers 3. Boston Market. Thanks Mr Wolfpit!!
I’ve had all of these and good old Swanson’s. They all taste pretty good but my favorite is the ones my mother made, and I learned from her. We’d use -remade Pilsbury pie crusts to top. I’d cheat and put some herbs between the crusts, roll them out flatter and top the dish with the rolled crust. We used carrots, celery, onion, peas, potatoes along with the chicken. A good bit of thyme and sage in the gravy.
I always loved Mrs.Budds pot pie, the yellow one that hasn't changed it's packaging in almost a decade. Bjs had a 10 pack and we didn't even get sick of them
Oh my gosh, wiping the drool off my chin now! I love a Pot Pie!! Marie Callendar is my personal favorite but will try the Boston Market only because of that crust! Thanx for sharing yet another drool session, it looks delicious!! 😊😁😊😁😊😁😊😁😊
I've been waiting for this since I've started watching you, Larry! I'd be interested in what you think of the Marie Calendars Cheesy Bacon Chicken Pot Pie. It's my weakness
Hey bud, love the channel but I do have a small request/suggestion: When comparing several different frozen/packaged foods, it may come in handy to have the box in the background during the dissection footage as a visual aid. I like to watch your vids in the background while I work and sometimes I glance up at the screen and can't immediately tell which product you're talking about, other than verbal mentions. I might be alone on this one, but I just thought I'd let you know, and you can do with this comment what you will. Either way, keep doing what you're doing!
I had the Marie Callenders chicken pot pie and thought it was very good. You are right about making pot pies at home being much better for you. I remember my days of eating store brand pot pies and using salt to give them flavor!
I’m a little late but hands down Marie Callender’s! I was a fan of the pies and then discovered the food! The pot pies are delicious! I luv them during the holidays winter!
My mother and I love Marie calanders pot pies.. we take the creamy chicken parmesan pot pies and make a small hole in the top when they’re done and stuff some cooked angel hair pasta in there then put a little salt and pepper and grated Parmesan and voila you have a meal and it’s awesome ..
Calendars used to be good the crust and veggies were ok last time I had it but the quality of the meat in all of MC dinners went down so I stopped getting them
Same! I never understood the "100% white meat" claim on chicken products, like it's somehow better than dark meat? I eat the Marie's pot pie often enough and end up picking out most of the chicken and just eat the crust, veggies, and gravy.
I agree 100%. I only buy legs and thighs when I go grocery shopping. In most countries dark meat is preferred. I can deal with breast when it's cut up in things like pot pies or stir fry, but I could never eat an entire breast or white meat chicken strips.
Consider not reading the entire nutritional label on every video. Just show the label and people can pause if interested. Great channel! Please keep up the good work.
I wasnt a fan of pot pies until my mom was oven baking a few of them (because she goes to costco). She pops them out of the ovensafe packaging and flip them over onto a bowl, those things were pretty tasty
Personal note: Marie Callender is the most readily available brand in my area, so it is the only brand I've tasted in the past 30 years. We like them. If only one person needs a quick, extremely easy meal, we cook an individual-sized one in the microwave; of course the crust isn't as browned, but it is acceptable. We have found that in our particular conventional oven, we can leave off the aluminum foil; the crust edge browns, but too much, and our household likes the small amount of browner crust. I am not recommending skipping the aluminum foil to everyone, but if you found you forgot it in haste, don't despair. Until I saw the video, I didn't give conscious thought to the sage. It really does complete the savory flavor, but I don't think it is overpowering for people who aren't particularly drawn to it.
Once a year, right after Thanksgiving, we set up a turkey pot pie production line and freeze ours for consumption during the next year. They are small enough to fit in the far left corner of the freezer not to be exposed to the opening and closing of the freezer door. My grandmothers recipe for the crust and sauce. The bird and all of the veggies come from local farms around here.
I SURE LOVE MARIE CALLENDERS POT PIES...You can buy an 8 individual pkg box at Costco for $11.& change, and on sale for $8.&change on sale....Thats half price of the food store prices ... ...like $1.09 each
Marie Callender’s makes a broccoli potato cheese pot pie that’s great! You can mix some tuna in after it’s cooked if you need more protein. There used to be tuna pot pies by Banquet years ago, but I think that’s over with. And Callender’s is amazingly good out of the microwave. I didn’t think that would be possible.🌸
Bought a Marie Callender’s broccoli, cheese pot pie by mistake, thinking it was chicken/turkey pot pie .it was really good. Will always buy any Marie Callender’s pot pies .👍
Back in my younger days when I first moved out of my parents house these were a staple. Marie Calendars used to make a mashed potato topped pot pie. I probably ate a million of those. Lol. Pot pies are 2$ now?? Back in my day they were .79c. Crazy!
Dave Brock The Banquet ones are still pretty affordable. I myself will occasionally pick up the breakfast pot pies Banquet has now, which are pretty good.
I'm sure Boston market uses a pastry puff crust. Thats what gives it that buttery, flaky crust. I use that on my homemade pot pies for the top crust. I prefer the ready made crust rather then making them myself, they pretty much taste the same as homemade to me with less time, but i always buy the ready to bake pastry puff crust sheets for the top . Makes a HUGE difference.
Birds Eye® Voila!® Chicken & Vegetables in Pot Pie Gravy & Crust Crumbles 21 oz. Bag They have this at the Giant supermarket by me ... it's pretty good. Doesn't actually have a crust but it has little pieces of crust in the gravy. I buy them on sale and it's good comfort food.
Try the KFC Pot Pie Fill up! Make sure to call the store to order a fresh one! I used to work their and we would only make several pot pies and have them sit there til someone orders them. And by that only one person order it during the whole day!
This one was right up my alley! I buy frozen Pot Pies all the time. I absolutely agree with your review! When it comes to Pot Pies I agree that Marie Callender's is the best. However, when I want a good Salisbury Steak and mashed potatoes or Meatloaf and Mac and Cheese I think Stouffer's wins in that category. I like all three of these brands but think they each are better than the others at a certain dish. Great review as always!
I can say before I even watch the video that Maria Callender's will win hands down but there is probably a price to be paid in calories and salt. P.S. I was wrong about the calories and salt but I still would choose Maria Callender's over just about any other mass produced frozen pot pie.
SooOooo Close to Perrrrrfection! Had you gone with TURKEY for the Marie Callender's Pot Pie, you likely would have been too busy (or full) to even review the others. I DO agree on Boston's crust - that buttery goodness could be solid MSG and I'd still be choomping at the bit to get one i only there was a quality product inside the crust! MMmmmm TURKEY.... so good you'll cancel Thanksgiving with the family!
Admittedly the Beef RULES.... but since Larry was reviewing poultry, I stayed within that subject. Have yet to see a chile, and not really sure I'd appreciate it. LOL
I was eating a pot pie and watching one of your other videos when I stopped and thought... im sure this guy has made a pot pie video. Im so glad I was right.
Marie Callendar, hands down; no other brand ever enters my home (I have tried the other two 👎). Of course, there's only myself to feed and please, so I can be "picky" for now. Marie C also has the pies in a smaller size, around 10 ounces, and baking in the oven is the best way to cook them, no matter which size. If you let the pie bake for an additional 5 - 6 minutes without the foil, the crust gets darker and tastes MUCH better! I bake it for around 30 minutes without foil, then cover it with foil for the remaining time, and it's always excellent, never burned, never underdone. Out of these three, I give MC a 10/10. The other two get nothing more than 3 points each, mostly for the reasons Mr. Wolfe gave.
IT'S HARD TO BEAT Marie Callender's Products. That's one of the Main Brands that my Wife found useful for an easy Meal.I used to eat them all the time, BEFORE I RETIRED. Since Retired,I can't do or eat anything THAT I USED TO!!! IT SUCKS!!! I was forced to retire because of a JOB SITE ACCIDENT.I didn't wind up in a wheel chair, but I came damn close,I got real lucky. No matter how bad SHIT GETS,IT CAN ALWAYS BE WORSE!!! WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU,MAKES YOU STRONGER!!! SO THEY SAY!!! STILL SUCKS THOUGH!!! LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS!!!
I love Marie Callender pot pies ❤ They are the best. My oven requires more cooking time so I put them in for almost 1 1/2 hours to get a 100% golden brown top crust . Beef is my favorite
I appreciate this great video and good info. Peoples tastes differ, I find Marie Calenders too sweet I prefer savory in Pot pies. I'm a sage fan as well. I have never had the Boston Market but I will look them Up. Thanks again.
I have recently found the Blake's pot pies and those are fanfreakintastic. If you've not tried it you should. They're on the pricey side at nearly $8 for the large size but worth every penny.
Instead of pledging, I was curious to as whether you'd accept mail. I could send you Australian things, not frozen goods, obviously, though all sorts of things, including Vegemite : P
Saving the address. I'll send in bulk so I'll get a bunch of things and send them your way. You and your family really need to try Tim Tams. You probably won't get right into them as they're sweet.
Marie Callender’s Chicken Corn Chowder Pot Pie is the most delicious, hearty, comfort food 🍲 I have ever had out of a microwave , and I have tried it all!
I’m not sure if you have tried Marie Callander’s other por pies but, the chicken pot pie with mushrooms is sooooooo much better!! It’s thicker and has a lot more filling! I used to get it everyday when I worked retail (:
I'm a fan of the Boston Market pot pie myself. The 'marinated chicken' tastes pretty good to me and I haven't had the texture problem you had with yours. I also like the Marie Calendar's chicken pot pie, but the Boston Market one takes the prize for me.
I'm glad you make these videos. Thanks to your reviews, I found out about the Chef Boyardee Throwback recipes, and couldn't agree with you more... They are what I remember as a child, and the ingredients were better too. Your reviews have been spot-on, I have found myself agreeing with every single one, particularly when it comes to "Bargain Basement" food/meat products. Anyhow, keep on, man. And thanks again.
No, not a first choice. But many many people would feel lucky to have this as a meal. For them it would be relatively MUCH healither to eat this than have nothing, or just something lower quality like beer or candy. Many people live in places where there are no grocery stores, something like this would be one of the healthiest options available. That is a reality for a crazy amount of people.
TheWolfePit “Quetionable Slit” indeed...
TheWolfePit thought stoffers would have been number 1 but yet I only had stoffers lasagna
TheWolfePit Oh one advice don't try banquet's fruit pot pies or the breakfast pot pies those are not worth the money or the time cause they suck.
Marie's!
TheWolfePit Marie Callander is a good quality pot pie, I love eating it every once in a while. 💘
i burned my mouth just watching this video ha, it never fails, i can never wait and always burn my mouth on a pot pie
Same for hot pockets and pizza rolls. I think there is lava inside them.

@Real Dudes Party Nude You are a bit unique! Maybe you could start your own video channel. It should be interesting.
I like doing that with the smaller Banquet oven pot pies. They drop right out onto the plate.
Doesn’t everyone do that? LOL
I dump mine upside down in a big bowl .
I've noticed that bakeries are now starting to sell their meat pies without the pans... Especially the ethnic bakeries.

Calendars used to be good the crust and veggies were ok last time I had it but the quality of the meat in all of MC dinners went down so I stopped getting them
Those pot pies look good I love Marie Callender I haven't tried the others. Gotta have pepper with any pot pie
This world is difficult for people like me who hate white meat chicken and love dark meat
No products feature "100% dark meat chicken!" lol
Thigh is were it's at, breast meat is so boring lol.
Same! I never understood the "100% white meat" claim on chicken products, like it's somehow better than dark meat? I eat the Marie's pot pie often enough and end up picking out most of the chicken and just eat the crust, veggies, and gravy.
I agreeeee!!
Joey Greathouse ^^^🙄
I agree 100%. I only buy legs and thighs when I go grocery shopping. In most countries dark meat is preferred. I can deal with breast when it's cut up in things like pot pies or stir fry, but I could never eat an entire breast or white meat chicken strips.
Having eaten all three myself, I agree with Larry's ranking. Marie Callender's is the top choice! I like the Turkey and Beef Pot Pies even better.
Watch out for those random slits. 😛
😨😨😨😨😨😨😨
So pot pie doesn't have marijuana?
macedonio450 Just sprinkle some in. 😎
Mine does...or maybe that is oregano. I cannot remember. Dude, what did you ask?
macedonio450 Sadly no. :(
You gotta smoke the pot pie and find out bro .
Marijuana is not FDA regulated yet 😉😁
Once a year, right after Thanksgiving, we set up a turkey pot pie production line and freeze ours for consumption during the next year. They are small enough to fit in the far left corner of the freezer not to be exposed to the opening and closing of the freezer door. My grandmothers recipe for the crust and sauce. The bird and all of the veggies come from local farms around here.
I SURE LOVE MARIE CALLENDERS POT PIES...You can buy an 8 individual pkg box at Costco for $11.& change, and on sale for $8.&change on sale....Thats half price of the food store prices ... ...like $1.09 each
I like the boston market one the best, however, your review is spot on. Another top notch video from the wolf pit.
Dave Brock. Guess I'm really getting old. I remember getting pot pies 4 for $1. Banquet I believe.
Thanks for these Larry...love the reviews, the info, and the laughs😊😊😊😊
I happened to be eating one of these when i was watching this
War Eqo Give us your review.
Most underrated comment
Marie Callender's also makes a huge assortment of pot pie flavors. They're all really good.
You should review Totinos party pizzas
Yes, so disgusting they are delish.
Yuck lol
I love them
Omg the crust ❤️
I'm sure Boston market uses a pastry puff crust. Thats what gives it that buttery, flaky crust. I use that on my homemade pot pies for the top crust. I prefer the ready made crust rather then making them myself, they pretty much taste the same as homemade to me with less time, but i always buy the ready to bake pastry puff crust sheets for the top . Makes a HUGE difference.
Birds Eye® Voila!® Chicken & Vegetables in Pot Pie Gravy & Crust Crumbles 21 oz. Bag
They have this at the Giant supermarket by me ... it's pretty good. Doesn't actually have a crust but it has little pieces of crust in the gravy.
I buy them on sale and it's good comfort food.
This is one of the best channels on UA-cam
Try the KFC Pot Pie Fill up!
Make sure to call the store to order a fresh one! I used to work their and we would only make several pot pies and have them sit there til someone orders them. And by that only one person order it during the whole day!
Diego B-M thanks for the tip..i love them
This one was right up my alley!
I agree Nate, they all have something decent! Thanks for watching!
I can say before I even watch the video that Maria Callender's will win hands down but there is probably a price to be paid in calories and salt.
P.S. I was wrong about the calories and salt but I still would choose Maria Callender's over just about any other mass produced frozen pot pie.
Their TV dinners are pretty good for TV dinners, too.
Try indignant Jim brand pot pies
All 3 are great brands. The one with sage (MC) got my vote. Keep up the good work!
The Marie one works good in the microwave.
Waited through a long shift to watch this. Thank you from the bottom of my congested heart
TheOregonOutlaw I skeptically ate the chili pot pie... It was pretty good.
TheOregonOutlaw But omg the beef pot pie is amazing. When it comes to frozen meals of course.
Take a shot for every time he says pot pie.
craig tiffany I'm totally wasted! 😕
I didn’t make it
ROFLMFAO
craig tiffany just got out of detox
How to get alcohol poisoning
Wolfe gave.
DAMN! THIS CHANNEL *BLEW UP* SINCE I SUBBED!!
who was here before 10k subs
Who was here before
who was here before the channel existed?
He deserves it, glad it's taken off
I was subbed before UA-cam was founded
Thank you for helping me make up my mind with pie over like I need you to do one with Maria calendar with cauliflower
#FACTS
I love Marie Callender pot pies ❤
They are the best.
My oven requires more cooking time so I put them in for almost 1 1/2 hours to get a 100% golden brown top crust .
Beef is my favorite
banquet 88 cent pies are the best
Thanks for this very thorough review. It's very informative and it answered my questions.
Marie Callendars is the bomb!!!
I appreciate this great video and good info. Peoples tastes differ, I find Marie Calenders too sweet I prefer savory in Pot pies. I'm a sage fan as well. I have never had the Boston Market but I will look them Up. Thanks again.
Makes me want to go out and get a pot pie...
I have recently found the Blake's pot pies and those are fanfreakintastic. If you've not tried it you should. They're on the pricey side at nearly $8 for the large size but worth every penny.
Pepperidge Farms has an awesome pot pie, gotta check it out!
REALLY? I've never seen PF pot pies! I'm on the hunt now!
I thought they were discontinued!
I agree. The Marie Callender's chicken pot pie is my go to brand. And it is what I usually buy when stocking my freezer with quick meals.
Instead of pledging, I was curious to as whether you'd accept mail. I could send you Australian things, not frozen goods, obviously, though all sorts of things, including Vegemite : P
YES That would be awesome Matthew! Thanks!
Send to:
Larry Wolfe
P.O. Box 75
Remington, Va. 22734
Saving the address. I'll send in bulk so I'll get a bunch of things and send them your way. You and your family really need to try Tim Tams. You probably won't get right into them as they're sweet.
TheWolfePit
You have to compare Marmite to Vegemite. Marmite is better.
This I look forward to!!!
@@mathewsoltan8487 the long cookie snacks? Those are great!
yay! home country Canada, of course we would make potpies, its cold all the time here and what a better warm you up meal.
"who's gonna eat half a pot pie" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Marie Callender’s Chicken Corn Chowder Pot Pie is the most delicious, hearty, comfort food 🍲 I have ever had out of a microwave , and I have tried it all!
NICE yet a other time you try it so we don't have to. Thanks my dude.
I’m not sure if you have tried Marie Callander’s other por pies but, the chicken pot pie with mushrooms is sooooooo much better!! It’s thicker and has a lot more filling! I used to get it everyday when I worked retail (:
I can't find them anymore, but Swanson pot pies were really good.
These videos are great. I don't eat a lot of frozen food but who really has enough time to make a chicken pot pie from scratch. Thanks for the info!!
I like the Stoffer's; if you ever see the Banquet pot pie, avoid! They are cheap, but for a reason. Pure garbage.
LOL I actually like the Banquets, but you're right they're garbage and why I didn't include them in this video! Thanks for watching!
Black Dart Claws banquet never had good products, i have no clue why its still around.
Hmmm banquet turkey potpie❤
I have a friend who worked as a chicken sperator for Banquet in Iowa. The job was so bad he moved to New Hampshire to ger away.
Black Dart Claws Yeah. I would stay far far away from anything that has Banquet in the name. Gonna be nothin' but trouble.
I'm a fan of the Boston Market pot pie myself. The 'marinated chicken' tastes pretty good to me and I haven't had the texture problem you had with yours. I also like the Marie Calendar's chicken pot pie, but the Boston Market one takes the prize for me.
How the hell are pot pies so many calories?
Lots of fat.
Richard Gray I always guessed them to be about 300 or 400, not close to 1000 damn.
A buttery crust stuffed with meat, veggies, and a fatty, creamy broth. Seems to check out.
All the flavor comes from the added salt, "sodium salts", MSG. GMP, and flavorings. May be good to eat occasionally but definitely not healthy.
