    Seriously one of the sickest snare breaks in the last several years. The visual stuff going on in that break is ridiculous. Caught you guys at the STL show and I was blown away!

    I would LOVE to see the 2018 moonwalk break with all the weird metric modulations. I've been driving myself nuts trying to figure out the rhythms!

    • @seanparra
      @seanparra  4 роки тому +6

      That would be a good idea for a future video. We played some pretty jacked rhythms ngl

    Inspiration from EMC. Wb a video where you write out 2-4 bars of iconic bd beats like echos and metric shnazz on slips of paper, put them in a container of choice, and draw the slips of paper without looking. The order they come out will be the order the mini licks will be in. This will create either something amazing or something almost impossible to play. If you run out of ideas you may reach out to the other snare goons and ask them to write something that’s 2-4 measures to make it even more random.

    Was the original ending for the break eight-note triplet flam flams? Or am I wrong?

    • @billg1817
      @billg1817 4 роки тому

      in the early season version it was clear fivelets, however it sounded quite like triplets in the final version when the video was played along a metronome

      one thing to mention is that the ending sounded like triplets when played along a metronome, was it my earbug?

    • @seanparra
      @seanparra  4 роки тому

      Dude your transcription is so close!!! And honestly we morphed tempo a little to play together so it’s totally not your fault haha.

  • @camilleon352
    @camilleon352 4 роки тому +2

    I saw a video of you guys performing this and there was audio samples of a typewriter being played with the break, was that taken out by finals? Honestly the break made more sense with the typewriter sounds

    • @seanparra
      @seanparra  4 роки тому +4

      Connor Gavin yes!!! Something I forgot to add was that the snarebreak was supposed to mimic a typewriter. That’s why it was a little disconnected/separated in its writing

    So Sean, being a former Drum Corps snare drummer myself way back in the late 1970's, we all wondered what the next years show would be like, and which song numbers the staff had selected for us to play...have you considered selecting and/or writing your own Drum Corps show if it was your call to do so???

  • @SophiaSuante

    I really bet if you guys learned the vocals in January camp, you would have gotten it down! I take couses in South Indian concepts and we have to say similar syllables in class every time we meet, and it gets easier if one practices it for 15 min a day. It would have been so cool to see you guys do that fr!!!

    Being totally blind, I appreciate how you break it down in small groupings; since I learn by ear. It would be cool if you played the measures at slower and fast tempos, to follow along, but this is good stuff.
