11:16 "If you were back there it was so loud." Can confirm. I marched Madison that year and we were standing in that back tunnel at Finals waiting for retreat. We watched this whole performance and we all lost our minds when that company front hit. One of the coolest moments of my ageout night.
My son aged out on the 2014 Cadets snare line, and we were there in Indy for Finals. That night was electric....a bunch of excellent shows, but BD was just off the charts! Every element, every transition...pure excellence!
To me, when i watch great shows like this, its kinda hard to believe sometimes that after this these amazing marchers just, go home to their family or back to school, and just do regular stuff. Like, someone ur watching right now in the corp is probably like, playing video games or watching csi right now. thats crazy to think about sometimes.
Not really. They're not Gods. They're just great at an instrument and athletic. I have a friend who's friends with John Frusciante and he says people all the time treat him like a God, except when you meet him you find out that he doesn't like that, but you also find out he's just like everyone else. You almost forget he's Super duper famous. More of a laid back person that treats you with respect. Their shit stinks too. Cheers!🤷🏻♂️
I get it. I think more than anything it’s that they do something like this, that requires such a high level of personal investment, lay it all out there, and then just go home right after. I would think the fatigue from the adrenaline high has to be pretty intense.
For your next reaction video I think you should watch 2010 Bluecoats because I don’t see many people talking about it and I think it would just be a fun watch
At 4:32 to answer your question that is Dylan Martin and yes he’s Canadian. He’s taught a lot of other Canadian world class brass members including me since.
The thing about the rotating front is this....the VAST majority of large pinwheel moves start ON a yard line (82 27th Lancers is a great example, as well a 95 Madison). This allows the front to start completely straight, since everyone starts on the line, and as the form rotates, anyone slightly out of the form gets hidden in the viewing angle. HERE tho, not only does the pinwheel start at an angle -- with no yard line to set up on -- it also ENDS on the yard line, and people going backwards can't aim for it. The viewing angle INCREASES the exposure to someone out of the form as the move progresses. Effing amazing.
I remember when our band went down to a local movie theater to watch a live stream of the competition back when I was a sophomore in high school. That color guard tambourine routine was legendary! ♥
My Dad marched BD in 89 and 90 in the Bass line, along with his best friend Pete Sapadin, i had watched all their old shows and the rare videos if them rehearsing. But when i first saw BD 2014 in my 8th grade year, i was hooked and knew exactly what I wanted to join in high school, and what I wanted to do after high school. I never got to march any corp as i peaked after my senior year marching season. I miss the activity and am beyond happy that it has finally returned. BD 2014 is the greatest show and greatest drumline if all time.
This was AWESOME!! I've never hated YT ads so much, I was so absorbed into the show everytime one popped up I chocked. Next up y'all should review 2009 BD, that is another undefeated year I believe for the whole corps.
With a show called “Felliniesque” (probably spelt that wrong), it needs to be perfect because that word literally means with great expression and emotion and it was named after a guy who was known for his crazy and expressive movies and film. Great show
I marched in Freelancers back in the day... I always looked on at Devs with an air of jealousy. I always thought Devs were really cocky. Years later, I moved to the UK and ended up marching with Kidsgrove Scouts and as you all know we were part of System Blue and our shows from 16 onwards were designed by the BD guys (Meehan, ScoJo etc...) and they came over to work with us. After finally getting to actually experience the "Blue Devil way" I realised that wasn't cockiness, rather it was supreme confidence because they KNEW they were year on year THE best prepared drum corps in DCI. In our own little way, we became "that" over here in Europe.
BD's brilliant 2014 "Felliniesque" featured an homage to Fellini's chaotic film sets, including actors who show up on set without their pants-- a metaphor for the chaos and absurdity of everyday life. At the end of Felliniesque, the guest of honor's chair remains empty- a Humanist message that there is no deity in the sky who's going to redeem us. We only have the clowns and lunatics in our own lives to help us muddle through. That's some pretty heavy shit. First place, and the highest score in the history of the activity, 99.65.
at 11:54 in this video, I am so satisfied but also unfulfilled, because i KNOW the show is about to end, and you just want it to keep going. Man! Plus, I just love the way the trumpets are gunning to the front in those rotating blocks at that point. And the mellos...in Everett speak "ugh!"
I know how you guys feel - have the same from 1977 - before our final start set for our victory run I remember thinking the same thing ...."This will never be again but I'm glad it's now" - and it never really leaves..... DO IT UP, DEVILS!!!! (oh yeah .... the 0-4 rules!!)
This was an almost perfect show a pleasure to watch. I love all the devils shows the 2010 show stands out and the music in the 2017 show was spot on Devils history the way that show was presented. I find it very hard to say witch one of the three is better This shows program was done so damn good in every way I just like the music of 2017 better. Thanks guys for your intake of it watched it over and over again any yes saw it live many times .
If you do the Blue devils 2017 show use ( Blue Devils 2017 Atlanta ) you tube great sound on it and Good Grief gets said a lot. The 2014 shows music is from the movie La Strada watch the movie trailer you get the idea. Most would only watch that movie once but i watched it again thanks to the Devils. I hope you keep doing this very good insight on the shows.
Love the show -- and I hope you'll keep it up. ( And, yes it would be A-ok to tone down the comments so viewers can actually hear the show... many for the first time.)

4:38 Dude I deadass made the Pog face when Brandon said that that soloist was Canadian. As a Canadian myself that made me so happy.
Every time I watch this show, I realize more and more how much they deserved that score.

Crown 2010 with Eric Carr next!
Everett be like “OMG THEY STEPPED OFF ON THEIR LEFT FOOT UGH SO GOOD”
The battle between BD’s brass and Crown’s brass in 2014 was crazy. Both were incredible
Crowns book was ridiculous
This show is compositionally my favorite thing I have ever heard. I love that end key change.

The Canadian soloist is Dylan Martin and he teaches at my high school. Knowing that he got to march in this corps makes me really envy him.
Why is Brandon being seized to the 5th dimension in the thumbnail
This channel and content is the best thing that has happened in 2020 🙌 Thank You Guys, from GA.
