A dot is a spot on the field specific to you and everyone has one. So like in the big pyramid at the beginning, everyone had a specific spot (your dot) to make that form.
An absolutely breathtaking soloist. So passionate, so jazzy, so precise and yet unbridled. The first trombone solo of its kind in drum corps. Brilliant.
So, they have the ability to capture close-ups and have cams mounted on certain musicians. In my estimation all of that close-up stuff takes away from the real impact which for me is wide shots.
The unbridled emotion is rare from this understated corps. Normally they don't let it fly like this. A buoyant show, brimming with passion and balls out release. Perfect for a 60 year retrospective. The understructure of the butterfly taking flight is all they needed, thematically. From the larvae to the winged victory, incredibly emotional and joyous.
@@myawilkerson4082 Honey, I'm talking about the production, not this performance. The entire production is geared toward looking back-- a buoyant, celebratory retrospective with an unprecedented, exposed, screeching trumpet soloist that goes on and on and on into the stratosphere. A triumphant transformation into a butterfly, and an impossible transformation for a 501c3 organization. Ebullient and effervescent.
This was a culmination of many months of hard work dedication, and the members were just seizing the moment. I realize some were screaming with joy but until you have experienced this you should not comment on encore performance being a world champion. Many members will not be back next year, this moment will be forever in their minds. I have never seen a better performance by any Drum Corps to match this. (and I'm a big SCV fan)

Ok going to take the bait. Saying Crown is the best horn line in the world is ludicrous. Copy and paste content and style each year for Crown. Do they do what they do well? Yes. But BD every year changes style and substance year in and year out, wildly. And in this one show, BD changes from classical, to jazz, etc. Which is so hard to do. Plus, BD doesn't back up singers. We lost brass by 0.1 because we didn't have half of a show that was simple background music backing up a vocalist. BD has way more Jim Ott Awards, and has 18 World Championships compared to Crowns 1. Just sayin'. We at BD get so tired of winning, carrying all of our rings, and dating off all of these World Championship trophies.

Thankyou BlueDevils for the best show that made me love marching band and the trumpet.
This performance is the reason I want to learn trumpet. I found it earlier today and have already watched it at least eight times and a ton of other BD videos. I play clarinet, but this video makes me more motivated than anything else on this planet.
I think you guys are forgetting how hard trumpet parts are... the horn/brass line in general don't have it any easier. And as one who is experienced in both (quite explicitly trumpet and snare playing) I don't find the camera choice to be poor. It's a matter of preference so perhaps calling them a bunch of rigged cheaters is a bit harsh for a camera choice. Please do my get me into the i&e solos argument. I have watches this one performance over 20 times in different perspectives (lead trumpet, snare, etc) and I have to say this will NEVER get old. I have so much respect for what you do as a group and I hope that you continue to grow as a family.
When I hear those trumpet screams it takes everything not to cry, the feeling that music instills in me, especially when it’s a show of months and months of blood sweat and tears, all the work coming together in this beautiful creation, it’s the reason music is my religion and reason for existence.
You know those chills in your spine that you feel when the band nails an impact. People can say what they want about band, but I will tell you now, NOTHING has the same ability to completely floor you with emotions, and feelings the same way marching band does. If you've watched a really good marching band perform, you know what I'm talking about. Blue Devils in 2017, SCV in 2018, trumpet wink guy, you name it. All people on Earth know what good performance is like in the very least. BD, that was some good freakin performing right there.
This show will always hold a special place in my heart. The first DCI show I watched was during this season. It was the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school. Right here, during this show, I fell in love with DCI.
THANK YOU!!!! This is awesome!!! I have been a fan since 1987. That summer I experienced my first Drum Corps show at the end of a week long "Bands of America" camp at Whitewater WI!!! I still get that lump in my throat and goosebumps THIRTY YEARS later!!! THANK YOU for always giving your all and leaving it all on the field!!!
9:31-9:51, I think you’ve made me happy for the rest of my life snareline, those fucking fiveluplets and nintuplets along with the flams and tag with all the shots at the end... just gave me chills 😌😎
Whoever the 195 are that gave this video a 👎 have absolutely NO CLUE as to what great music is or sounds like!!!! This hands down one of the BEST performances BD has ever done, absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!
It's been 12 years since I've stepped foot on a field... But I tell you what we tried our hardest to pull off a Blue Devils show at my high school. We may not have did it the exact way but we did it!!! Ending my Junior year with a grand champion trophy and First place Drum Line was awesome. But my Senior year... Now that was a masterful year!!! We prided our selves on trying to match The Blue Devils talent and it payed off. We didn't win every competition we went to but we did win the majority. I so love to watch you guys on and off the field. The lot is one of my favorite things to watch. Thank you all for putting it all out there and playing like you've never played before each and every time you step on the field!!!
A) literal chills B) as a percussionist, I refuse to believe that the trumpets are playing actual notes and not just pressing buttons as fast as possible
i love that you can see that they love what they do. the main part of marching/spinning is to make people want to be in your show, or that’s what i’ve been told. spinning with a drum corp is not in my future, but if i could match this show? god, i would love every second. their emotions flow into everyone watching. definitely in my top 5 shows.
Oh my god i love the blue devils so much its like a love at first sight for me and i wish i was old enough and good enough to be on the blue devils but im not sadly but hopefully i will be someday 😭😍❤️
Not once - ALL YEAR - did I see good cam coverage of the pit after the trombone section -- they have awesome cymbal interplay...& are really fun to watch... but, nope - no one caught-on to how much fun they have during that section... not a single iso on the pit -- SAD. (11:20)

BD, that was some good freakin performing right there.
at 8:36 watch the guys near the bass drum in front ensemble.
"Bro..."
"Bro..."
"We're epic"
still get hella chills from this show. Love the easter eggs to past seasons!
Metamorph as in butterfly

Don't bees do that too?

This show will always hold a special place in my heart. The first DCI show I watched was during this season. It was the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school. Right here, during this show, I fell in love with DCI.
THANK YOU!!!! This is awesome!!! I have been a fan since 1987. That summer I experienced my first Drum Corps show at the end of a week long "Bands of America" camp at Whitewater WI!!! I still get that lump in my throat and goosebumps THIRTY YEARS later!!! THANK YOU for always giving your all and leaving it all on the field!!!
This is one of my most favorite shows and Everytime I listen to it, that first big hit always gives me chills
The moment I saw 3:35 I was freaking out so much with what looked like the mellophones. 😍❤
They are mellos
Still poppin in 2023🥹
Grade AA video with C- audio wtf
did they edit in crowd audio?
It sounds like it was recorded from someone over-enthusiastically live streaming it from their kitchen lmao
I thought audio was alright tbh... I was at finals lol
I see what you mean now...
MOS3 right? Haha
Killer everything: GE, musicality, drill, percussion. Everything!
@ 7:13 the camera man almost died bc he walked into that sabre toss smh
This run is timeless. The emotion and performance from this group is legendary. This video captures it so well
9:31-9:51, I think you’ve made me happy for the rest of my life snareline, those fucking fiveluplets and nintuplets along with the flams and tag with all the shots at the end... just gave me chills 😌😎
From a Cascades Mom - I will always forever be blown away by this show. This show will live in my heart as long as I live. 💙💙💙
You guys can´t imagine how proud I am!!!! THANK YOU FOR A PERFECT SEASON!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU DESERVE IT !!!!!

This legitimately made me cry it is my 2nd favorite show first favorite has to go to phantom regiment 2008 Spartacus
NotJoeK 4
Spartacus beats this by far.
you need to see better shows
chris sanders name a few
WHY IS THIS PERFECTION HUMANLY POSSIBLE
A) literal chills
B) as a percussionist, I refuse to believe that the trumpets are playing actual notes and not just pressing buttons as fast as possible
As a woodwind player, I completely agree with you.
this was one of my new fave shows this year and new fave corps.. the blue devils did an amazing job!!
10:57 is my favorite part ❤️ trombone player for life
Artemio Castille bro same I learned the feature and know it by heart
I play baritone, but this is prob my fav as well. Low brass gang
i love that you can see that they love what they do. the main part of marching/spinning is to make people want to be in your show, or that’s what i’ve been told. spinning with a drum corp is not in my future, but if i could match this show? god, i would love every second. their emotions flow into everyone watching. definitely in my top 5 shows.
The final part made me cry, seriously...
Daniel Muñoz Why? And how?
I’m currently a freshman in high school, and these guys are my inspiration. I hope i’ll be on the same level as them one day ..
Same
3:49 “LETS GO TUBA’S!!!!”
I think the composition of the snares during their last solo is one of the most beautiful sounding things I've ever heard
12:11 nUT
Kristen Camodeca there’s a nut at 10:01 lol
I was literally brought to tears by all of their excitement and energy. This was absolutely amazing. 😍😍😍😍💚😭😭😭
I gotta say blue devils truly deserved to win this. This show is AMAZING especially at 13:54.
Oh my god i love the blue devils so much its like a love at first sight for me and i wish i was old enough and good enough to be on the blue devils but im not sadly but hopefully i will be someday 😭😍❤️
12:10 to the end is like a jet taking off ... music is motion!
still gives me the chills after all these years
I miss marching band :( ,, my senior year was cancelled cause of covid
This is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen in my life!
Literally the greatest show of all time in my opinion
Logan Lindenau I’m sorry, the other boys in blue have that award for T/LT
a person I'm more of a Frameworks or a The Zone: Dreamscapes in Four Parts With A Door kind of guy... not 99.65s but still good
ink
The only year that I was happy BD won
That's cool I didn't want to watch the tenor solo anyway...
I feel your pain
We feel your pain
One dude had a cam too
Ryan Sparrell yeah too bad. All we got was five rim shots.
@@acousticfoam4184 and that’s not even the cool part of it 😞
i still watch this to this day and it still gives me chills
I don't know why this performance was an emotional experience for me. The best DCI show ever!!!!!
IKR!!! like especially at 11:12 I got chills and started getting terry eyed
Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe this.
Dope ass video ..but what's with the obnoxious screaming and clapping
They won the DCI world championship
Bc it’s a good ass show and it deserves obnoxious cheering and screaming .
Because the BD were watching this, and the mic picked it up
If you were in that crowd hearing this show in person, you’d be obnoxiously screaming and clapping too
Just a fantastic group of performers doing what they love to do best! That goes for ALL of the marching arts.
I didn't want to see the tenor feature anyways in flight of the bumblebee
Andrew Campbell RIGHT
It's like bruh it is so cool and there just like nah let's just watch this trumpet march and not play
That made me very mad
@@DouglasStevens0521 I
The best in all of dci history
Not once - ALL YEAR - did I see good cam coverage of the pit after the trombone section -- they have awesome cymbal interplay...& are really fun to watch... but, nope - no one caught-on to how much fun they have during that section... not a single iso on the pit -- SAD. (11:20)
skaynekurtis lol true the pit was so sick this year too
You really should watch the episodes dude 😂
skaynekurtis blue devils has a pit?
This applies to all pits though, not even WGI you see the pit that often
Probaly cause its a fucking trombone in dci
Ghost light is amazing keep up the work guys
You didn’t just say this 😂😂😂😂
