Ordered the 2022 in vivid black and it arrives next Friday. Getting V&H big radius pipes and passenger backrest fitted - otherwise stock for now. This bike was so good on the test ride...cannot wait!

Owner of a 2021 fat boy with a stage IV131.
Pros: wide tires feels like easy cornering, floor board position along with handlebars are very comfortable, and the large tank does allow for long distance rides.
Cons: stock seat must be replaced because after about an hour it’s not comfortable, the turn and brake lights are not led and should be replaced to match the beautiful headlight, quick attack back rest for passengers is recommended, cruise control is recommended, and last con is that it has DOT 4 brake fluid instead of 5 or 5.1.
Overall great bike imo, you can’t beat the classic look it’s muscle.

If I got a Fatboy, I'd like to get a quick detach windscreen for longer trips as well, and maybe some saddlebags and the upgraded seat for sure. Otherwise, I'd like to keep the look fairly stock because I think it just looks great as a minimal bike.

I ride a 2019 and highly recommend a driver backrest especially when riding without a windshield, it eliminates the death grip at highway speeds. Add the windshield to reduce neck fatigue on long highway speed rides. And you can’t go wrong with Custom Dynamics front and rear signal lights with the Magic Strobe for the brake lights. I’ve noticed people don’t ride up close behind me since adding the Magic Strobe when coming to a stop or slowing down. Great safety add on.
      Enjoy this riding season!

There’s something about those classic Softail Fatboy’s, very scalable on the fly, smooth presentation during a ride and you feel badass but still in control with the forward positioned floorboards.

I own a 2017 Fat Boy S Denim Black and you're pretty much spot with your review. Although, if you're willing, you can lean that bad boy over and scrape those floorboards. But yea, it likes to keep you straight up cruising. It's my daily driver, weather permitting, and the added windscreen is a lifesaver for this old man. The stock seat sucks on the '17 after about an hour so upgraded there as well. The Vance and Hines is must have in my opinion. I love the sound of it on your Sportster too. You don't see many of these out and about and I like that uniqueness factor.
As far as the 2022, it's boring to me and I'm a blackout guy vs chrome. Plus mine came with cruise control stock and this bike doesn't have it. I must have if you're gonna log the commuter and day trip mileage that I do. Mine favorite thing about the '22 is the wheels, if only they were blacked out :)

Decided to see what the different soft tail models of the last few years offer. I rode a 22 Fat Bob 114 today. After coming off a 2008 Fat Bob 96ci. I was surprised by the 114 torque rush, firmer brakes were nicer and it's roughly as nimble. I really like the engine...then I found out it has a 3.6 gallon gas tank. I like it and the Breakout but both have the small tank, or you have to go back a few more years to get the 5 gallon but you go back to a 103 or 107 engine. They also had a 21 Fat boy like the one in the video but I didn't ride it. I like the way it looks too and has the same engine and larger tank so I may go back and give it a try. Ideally I'd like the Breakout with the 117ci and a larger tank but they don't make it now. Either way the 114 was pretty impressive.

Thanks for the review man. I am attracted to the Fat Boy and the R18 as I love the riding style. I did have a chance on a demo R18 bike. I think it was difficult for me to use it on a daily basis, simply because it took a lot of effort just to change gears. But I guess that could be solved with a back pedal accessory. And I think parking in a lot (in Singapore) could be challenging too, cos the lots are smallish....Right now the Fat Boy is not available in Singapore, but I do hope the new Dealer will bring it in so I can consider this bike. Am riding a 2017 Triumph T100 Bonneville now. Ride safe! Do a review on the R18 if you could. Thanks, man.

I've a 2020 and at that time the chrome was much less "in your face" - it was listed as satin-chrome and much more subtle; apparently the hardcore H-D guys wanted the chrome back although I think they were wrong. The bike needs to be mastered - just sitting on it and twiddling the throttle it'll perform as you found; the rider needs to be firmer with it in corners (not aggressive, firmer) and more active with the gears to get the best from it. This can be a bit tiring but, I feel, modern bikes have become a bit too effortless and automated (electronics doing part of the the job) whereas I think a bit more input from the rider is a good thing. I see they've taken away the (l/h) dummy fuel cap (probably as a penny-pinching exercise), they need to put it back!

I'm about to pull the trigger. Money's not the issue, deciding on the 2022 Fat Boy 114 is. I'm looking for a comfortable cruiser is my goal, I owned a 96 Fat Boy and I enjoyed it quite a bit, had to replace the awful ignition system but I had many hours of enjoyment on my Fat Boy so I'm wondering if there is much difference after 26 years. Oh well, I guess I'll just go check them out and probably take the plunge. Once I walk on a showroom floor I tend to buy, there's something about being around brand new beautiful bikes that make me want to purchase one now, that's why I don't go to the dealer unless I'm ready to make it happen. I'm leaning toward the Vivid Black and I'll have to put on some pipes, change the mirrors, possibly a new seat and a detachable windshield and bags for trips. Thanks for the video! Ride safe brother.

@@IronBornRider Hey thanks, I had a 2017 Lowrider S and I really liked the bike but I have to say the new Fat Boy is so much fun to ride. It's a very solid ride, so comfortable which I'm surprised to get out of the stock seat. It's going to take a bit of getting used to taking corners with the big tires but honestly I wouldn't want the tires to be any different. I just love that crazy fat rear tire and the large front tire. I could see a new rider having problems taking corners slow on the Fat Boy and even possibly dumping it. I've been riding since 73 and after 9 bikes I'm a pretty good rider but there's always room for improvement. I had owned a new 96 Fat Boy and this bike is definitely different and better. The new frame is an improvement and the increased engine power is wonderful. I'm looking forward to getting this bike out on the road after the break in and see the country!
P.S. I wish I also still had the 2017 Lowrider S, selling it was a mistake, it would have been a great addition to my stable of bikes, I didn't need the money, dumb mistake.

My initial take is that the fatboy may not be the best bike for a first bike. Main reason is size and weight. Have you tested them out?

The main reason why you don’t see many of Fat Boy on the road is: Fat Boy are only good on Straight Lines
    * Not made for Road you have to Turn \ Corners, never head any reviews where the riders aren’t complaining about handling
    The Tiers are too Flat
Just like the original Sportster Roadster Tires
Changing the Tiers makes it to a Much more enjoyable Ride

They used a REAL Fatboy in Terminator 2. Carbureted EVO engine that you could actually hear and feel, real brakes, controlled by the rider, and MUCH better styling. Terminator 2 was made back when H-D still made actual Harleys.

    • @rogermurph101
      @rogermurph101 2 роки тому +3

Yeah, all vehicle manufacturers should go back to carbs. Really, Gerald? I agree with the bit about hearing the engine, but that’s not Harley’s fault. That’s epa, and easily remedied. As for feeling it? I’d rather not. Excessive vibration and numb hands is not my idea of fun. Styling is of course subjective, but to me the new bike looks so much better. Love the bobbed fenders. Kinda wish they’d stuck with a traditional headlight nacelle, but it grows on you. Not sure what you’re referring to about the brakes? The Fatboy has disc brakes, front and rear, controlled by the rider. If you’re saying abs isn’t “real” brakes, and somehow a bad thing, then you should probably cut the seatbelts out of your car. Safety isn’t for real men, right?

I have a immaculate 2002 Fat Boy .Its carb .Not sure if that year was the last for carbs , but previous bike was a 98 fxdwg carb ( had it 18 years and no prob at all with carb ) previous 2 other bikes from 89 to 2005 were sporties , obviously carbs.NO probs with those either.

Not the bike for me. I rode one for a week, its ok in a straight line, but cornering with those fat tyres is really unstable, the engine response is really jerky. not a smooth ride.

Have you noticed that this bike is horribly unbalanced? It's so heavy on the left that you're always leaning to the right... It's even visible in your video! I also bought this exact bike and had to hang 22kG on the right side under the exhaust pipes to finally go straight. I reported it to HD but they did NOTHING about it. Bloody amateurs!

Alright. I own a fatboy 2021 and have rode it for 2 years. And I’m telling you, this is a bike you better think TEN TIMES before owning it. Forget all these reviews. They’re far from accurate.
No 1, these bikes are miserably uncomfortable. The seat is one of Harley’s worst. It will burn ur ass and cramp the shit out of your legs. And ur wife’s gonna hate that rear seat. Replacing it out is ur only option.
2nd, the tires. The tires are wide and flat at the same time. And what do U get in return for this pretty feature? A bleddy hell bumpy ride. If ur looking for a smooth relaxed ride, this isn’t the bike for you! Ur going to feel even the slightest crack or stone up ur spine. And take note, the tires wears out quite fast since they are low profile tires. For some reason, it always balds out on the on the right side(If not mistaken). And those tires cost a fortune!
3rd, F*ck the terminator. Arnold rode a wonderful version of the fatboy. This 114 version is garbage. It runs like a Honda, feels like a Honda and sounds like a Honda. People simply attach Arnold’s name to the bike in order to boost sales.
But Its nothing like the old fatboys. Incomparable. You can ask any Harley rider. The new Harleys are soulless and dead.
Now what do I like abt this bike?
Besides being a pretty bike, Its quite powerful. The torque and highway speeds are Good. You could cut through heavy wind blown at you steadily. The bike handles that well due to the weight and tires. Thats it.
Oh ya dont forget, the rims are painfully difficult to clean.
1 year in with the bike, I gurantee you, ur going to want to change this bike. Its just not a keeper.
