I see that you are not feeling well and I was watching a fan's fairly decent recording of Ptx's famous Singapore "The Star Vista Concert" (2015?) where Mitch goes off in "Aha". The entire concert is crazy good. But I was surprised to see that Avi does a beautiful solo (rec in two parts). Would you allow yourself a listen and not worry about an analysis and hopefully you will feel better soon. 🍜🥣🥄🧸 1)ua-cam.com/video/2tgB0P4rs-k/v-deo.html 2)ua-cam.com/video/BSe5nrKI3ic/v-deo.html
Oh yes, the word EPIC describes this cover the best ❤ Don't like the original of "Carol of the bells" so much, but with Geoffs cover I was like 👀👀👀👀 Happens quite often when listening to new songs by Geoff or VoicePlay 😂🙈 So much talent 🤷🏻♀️
Yes Yes, Sir Hairless seriously listen to Geoffs new one, it is guaranteed to clear your sinuses! It is now my favourite Christmas Song. Merry Christmas to you as well😊🎄🎄🎄
Geoff once said that after his experience of singing this carol as a professional carol singer, his firm belief was that this song needed a bassline and he now wanted to provide it.
You do not talk too much. We are subscribed because we want to hear what you have to say. 😊 I loved this version from Geoff when it came out. He awlays brings something interesting to his arrangements.
Sir Hairless, thanks for your analysis of this song, its a favorite! We've started listening to your breakdowns as a family so we can learn and appreciate it together! You always point out something I haven't yet noticed and you enhance our musical experience! One thing you NEVER do is waste our time! Hope you feel better soon!
This is wonderful...one of my favorites of his. But now you GOTTA check out his Carol of the Bells which dropped a few hours ago! It will give you literal CHILLS!!!
The best part of a Geoff song is there's always something unique. And the best part of your analysis is the opportunity to learn something new. Two great things together cannot be beat.
Feel better soon! Don’t worry about going into too much detail, other react&analysists I love take 30mins plus 😊 you always highlight things I’ve missed and a different perspective.
This is the only version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen that I listen to these days, and was my favorite Geoff holiday song....until Carol of the Bells, unleashed upon the world this very day. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
My holiday bah-humbug is suspended for Geoff. This is also is one of my favorites; although, when Geoff goes very low, I receive a painful reminder of my present bout of shingles. Ouch & Thank you. Geoff’s cover of “Shenandoah” is another of my favorites (but not of his fans). The great news is that ALL of Geoff’s songs are wonderful (I might be biased).
I used to hate that song. I had the same teacher for both fifth and sixth grade and for music class we sang a total of two songs: Shenandoah and the Red River Valley. That’s it - for two solid years. Hated that song. Actually I grew to hate both of them. But now, 65 years later, it’s one of my favorites.
ONe of my favorite things about this is that Geoff sings the phrasing correctly. A lot of people think it's "God rest ye, merry gentlemen." It's not. It's "God rest ye merry, gentlemen." My choir director in school drilled that into us. As well as having us sing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" with s sounds, to get to the point where we wouldn't hiss on them, like "We wiSSSSh you a merry ChriSSStmaSSS." Our choir was party of the Thousand Voice Christmas Choir at Disneyland every year. One year James Earl Jones read The Christmas Story. It was fun!❤💚
This is my favorite of Geoff's solo Christmas songs, though his new one might compete. Apparently, I really like Christmas carols with a driving, bass-y beat. 😂
Well, now I'm catching the Christmas spirit! Geoff really outdid himself on this one. I echo the other comments, he dropped Carol of the Bells today and WOW it is next level even for him. Not to be missed. Super fun reaction and feel better!!
Enjoyed your reaction, as always. Carol of the Bells is a signature Geoff arrangement too but I really want to watch your face if you react to Blue Christmas.
I LOVE this! Until yesterday afternoon it was my favorite of Geoff's Christmas songs -- with or without VoicePlay. But yesterday Geoff released his 2024 offering: Carol of the Bells. There's no way to describe it; you just have to hear it. I'd even venture to say, go ahead and listen to it before you do your video reaction. There'll be plenty more to react to on the second, third, etc. hearings.
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎁🌹🎁🌹🎁🌹🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 .. I always immediately listen to any release from Geoff Castalucci and he always impresses. You are such a great musician, Sir Hairless. You hear all the nuances and changes from the original. It is still hard to believe that this gem was made with one man's voice. Great breakdown ... Thanks so much for the education. Wishing that you feel better soon , so that you can truly enjoy the Christmas 🎄 Season.
I love Geoff’s version of this song and the lighting adds a lot to the overall experience. Still looking forward to Aint no Sunshine and also hope you’ll get to his versions of 16 Tons, House of the Rising Sun and Sound of Silence soon.
Thank you for explaining my favorite Christmas song so far! I might have gotten a new one this year. Geoff released his rendition of Carol of the Bells this month. It’s majestic! 🎶
Great analysis and video! I would love to see you react to Geoff's Sixteen Tons cover! It's my favorite of Geoff's solo work (with this being a close second).
This is so beautiful!! Geoff created here a variation of carol that resonates very well with my personal taste: it’s charmingly mysterious and somewhat dark but comforting - it's a classy combination that feels very pleasing to my senses :) Also loved your reaction and analysis - you’re also a class act! Thank you, Sir!😊 P.S.: please, take good care of your health and I’m sending all the best wishes for your fast recovery💚
This is a great one!! And I'm also echo other people's comments about the most recent Carol of the Bells... I loved those picardy third and the rhythm changes in this one!! Love your analysis!!
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen happens to be one of my favorite Christmas carols as well. And he does this song so much Justice. You have to do his Hobbit trilogy. Starting with Misty Mountains Cold, continuing with i see fire, and ending with song of durin. Geoff also released his new Christmas track which is Carol of the Bells literally today. Absolutely Epic. Also voice play release their Christmas track today zat you Santa clause. So much fun
@@SirHairless You really do...Geoff's Middle Earth tunes are some of my favorites. "I See Fire" is the middle one of his trilogy and he hasn't ruled out doing more in the future. The same four dwarves are depicted in all 3 (albeit as ghosts in "Song of Durin" and adding a 5th dwarf in that one).
Hooray! Thanks for this reaction to Geoff's solo channel. Geoff's is my favorite version of this carol! I generally love the way that he arranges music. As always, your analysis adds much to my understanding of why I love it so. Feel better soon! [Did you notice that both Geoff ("Carol of the Bells" - please react to it!!) and VoicePlay each released their 2024 Christmas tunes today?] Fun fact, for several Decembers beginning at age 17, Geoff was a professional Christmas caroler in the Orlando area.
Geoff's top tier patron, Huldra Draco, has a fun short on her YT channel using clips from this carol video together with a video of him just talking to show that it's not only when singing that Geoff uses his hands constantly. ua-cam.com/users/shortsZJ7XgDKJYq4
As usual, I continue to really appreciate your knowledgeable analysis. Geoff has lapped you, though. Just today, the Geoffs released Carol of the Bells. As you get time to do another Geoffs solo, here are my personal favorites I hope you get to: 1) "Monster Mash", an update of the 1960s novelty "song" by Bobby Pickett. Bobby's version is a classic, but its basically just voices and faces. Geoff actually turns it into a song. 2) "Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold", from Tolkein. 3) "Way Down", an Elvis cover. The Geoffs are named!
First, get better soon!! Next, I love this and your analysis! As a singer, I love hearing your professional take on the wonderful music that Geoff and VP bring us! Can't wait to hear your take on Carol of the Bells! I love it! 😊
Also one of my favorite carols as is the one he did this Christmas Carol of the Bells! I would love to see him redo this one now that his voice has matured so much and his range has increased.
It’s really hard to decide which Christmas Carol and which version of it to listen to. As others said Voiceplay and Geoff released their Christmas songs today and „Zat U Santa Claus“ of Voiceplay is great again. Geoff released Carol of the bells Pentatonix also released a great Christmas song today (or was it yesterday?) „Christmas is finally here“. So because you said your Christmas songs reaction list is full those maybe suggestions for next year 😅 Anyway hope you feel better soon.
If you're looking for a rarely reacted-to Christmas song, may I recommend "Laudete" by Celtic Thunder, I believe it's sung in the traditional Latin. 5-part harmony! Thanks, Sir Hairless, for your Christmas coverage!❤❤
This has been my favorite Geoff solo since it came out. I had never heard of a Picardy 3rd before this, that he added it twice was enjoyable. Hope you are well soon!!
That backing track we heard reminds me of the Coventry Carol chord progression. This is so unique yet recognizable to the actual song. I love it. Such a classic. Thank you for what you do.
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to your analysis of Geoff's new release; feels a bit Merry Menacing Christmas to me, lol Your analyses help me listen to songs, instead of just feeling them. I appreciate your work. Hope you are feeling all better soon.
Много съм впечатлена! Не се чува често такъв красив бас. А изпълнението на различните партии от него е наистина впечатляващо. Благодаря за изживяването, Сър Безкоса
Much like the Pentatonix arrangement of this song, Geoff performs the first verse in a fairly traditional manner. After that...all bets are off! For me, the part at about 2:15 of the original video where Geoff drops out all of the instruments and goes back to just a cappella singing is about as beautiful to listen to as anything I've heard him do - it's just gorgeous! And Geoff has dropped another Christmas carol earlier today which has a Pentatonix version that you reacted to and really liked, Carol of the Bells - except I've nicknamed Geoff's version Thunder of the Bells! You'll see why when you listen to it!
I always really enjoy your analyses. And this is one of the few versions of a Christmas carol that I don’t mind hearing again and again (I grew up next to a fire station that would blast carols over the loudspeaker from morning to night starting Thanksgiving-I got pretty sick of all of the traditional Christmas songs.) Geoff’s Carol of the Bells may become another-it’s awesome. Eli did the lighting for this, by the way. Also, I don’t know if anyone mentioned this but it’s worth it to turn on captions and check the description for the video. There are often funny little bits.
I hope you’ll be well soon! love this one, it’s one of my favourite geoffs too! I recommend his new one, Carol of the bells, and after the Holiday seasons, I highly recommend his ”Aint no Sunshine”, it’s amazing imo! Happy Holidays!
This is absolutely my favorite of Geoff's songs - and, given that before he released this, I'd have been happy never, ever hearing it again - it's a major accomplishment. It's objectively beautiful, but oh so boringly repetitive. Then Geoff came along. Love this.
I'd like to add my voice to the request for you to do Geoff's latest release, Carol of the Bells. He does a completely different take on it than I ever imagined, and his arrangement is brilliant. Would love to see your analysis of it
I said something similar (about it being "reinvented") the first time I heard this. I sang this song so many times in choir, I got absolutely sick of it. Geoff's rendition just adds an entirely different dimension to the song.
I always enjoy your analysis even though I only probably catch maybe 10%. But that’s 100% more than I knew before. I like watching your little smile pop up when he does something unexpected. And I saw lots of smiles this time😊. I believe that Geoff stated that this was his favorite Christmas song either in a chat or an interview. So you’re in good company. I never particularly cared for it because it’s very boring normally and I don’t like the Dickensian overtones. I always think of the Christmas Carol when I hear it. Keep that cap on. It’s going to keep your little head warm and might help a bit. My grandpa wore a nightcap every night until his death at 98 and he said that’s why he was able to stay so healthy. Feel better soon!
There were a number of times in his newest video that made me think of this arrangement. Something non-musical that I’ll point out is the gramophone. This appeared many times in his older videos. Then he commissioned his Infinite Gramophone design (I believe from an artist in Hong Kong) and now uses that not only at the end of his videos, but also on his merch. (Fans kept asking him for merch, but he didn’t want his name or image plastered on things, so he got creative. The most you’ll see of him is a -G, because - as he says- IYKYK. (If you know, you know)
This is the only version of this song I actually enjoy. I worked retail for like 20 years. When you have to listen to carols all day every day for a solid month you can get royally burned out on them. The “normal” version of this was on the 6 hour tape they played, and it dragged. Geoff made it a sold bop.
My "pelado favorito" Let me recomend you an artist that Is not only hearttouching, Is almost Bones touching. Juan Gabriel live at Museo de Bellas Artes. The song "Hasta que te conocí". There's a different Tomorrow after listening him. Sorry for my english. Maybe there are mistakes. Un abrazo from Argentina
Thanks! Geoff always comes up with something interesting and your explication helps me hear the nuances. God Rest Ye... is one of my favorite carols, as well. Years ago The Blenders performed at the high school where I taught. Great group. This now old mash-up of theirs with One Small Child is one of my favorite versions of GRYMG. ua-cam.com/video/AkT2AEvQyOs/v-deo.html

It's one of his best. His highs are lovely and warm, and the lows so resonant. Fantastic arrangement.
Yes, Carol of the bells from Geoff is more than mindblowing. Gives you the perfect christmas feelings 🎄🥰
Dropped is accurate as all get out.
Geoff once said that after his experience of singing this carol as a professional carol singer, his firm belief was that this song needed a bassline and he now wanted to provide it.
Carol of the Bells is absolutely the most epic Christmas song ever.
Assuming you mean the version Geoff released yesterday, I 100% agree!
He enjoys making music that could honestly be used to teach music, and having you working through it only makes it better. No complaints here.
Voiceplay and Geoff released their Christmas videos today.
Voiceplay.... Zat You, Santa Claus?
Geoff... Carol of The Bells
He just released his cover of Carol of the Bells and it has actually replaced this as my favorite Christmas son. I think you will enjoy it too.

It’s really hard to decide which Christmas Carol and which version of it to listen to.
As others said Voiceplay and Geoff released their Christmas songs today and „Zat U Santa Claus“ of Voiceplay is great again.

(If you know, you know)
Carol of the Bells was just released Friday y Geoff will shake your computer.
❤❤
Aimee Mann has recorded a very nice version of this song.
Blue Christmas is fun
Listen to his version of Ain't no Sunshine When She Gone.
Un abrazo from Argentina
not one from geoff, but mentioning the hellfire reactions, Tomi P from the bass gang has a really good cover on his own channel
