In the early episode of season 2 of JJK we see that instead of using a full force infinity at all times he is actually capable of adjusting it's strength on a multi-layer level ie an eraser and pencil are thrown at him, but the pencil is stopped while the eraser is able to pass through. This is done automatically through practice and genius alone. Although we never hear exactly how itachi was able to keep his ocular powers on 24/7 my assumption is that he trained it on a multilayer level as well to be able to assess threats and protect himself which makes sense as both characters are prodigies in their own right. @@davidares286
Orochimaru, Nagato and Itachi were the ones among the Akatsuki to which Obito had to be careful with. We never saw what kind of relation Obito had with Orochimaru, but at least we know that at some point those 2 crossed paths. While alive, Nagato and Itachi were the only 2 members of Akatsuki capable of keeping Obito on the edge; meanwhile Orochimaru had the more knowledge regarding Obito’s true identity and further plans, as stated by Obito himself while talking with Kabuto after the later captured Yamato.
It wasn't time for his plan to move into overdrive yet. The only thing he really did after Itachi and Nagato died was get the Rinnegan eyes back and motivate Sasuke to attack the 5 kages so he could terrorize the world. After that, he was done until it was reanimation time. That's not making a move right after Itachi or Nagato died. In all honesty, he was concerned his plan would be hindered and didn't know enough about Itachi's powers/susanoo to want to fight him. That doesn't mean he was afraid to fight Itachi. He just didn't want to waste the effort when he could use Itachi instead. He had Sasuke on the back burner just waiting to stoke that flame.
Don’t know how many times the author, data books and numerous other sources have to say it but, Itachi is not stronger than Obito and definitely not stronger than Pain. Pain only went to capture Naruto himself cause a shitload of his members were dead and Kisame and Itachi weren’t able to, one because Jaraiya and two cause Itachi was triple agent.

he was sidelined bad , i heard that they changed the direction as itachi was meant an actual villain which would have been much better , pain and itachi as final bosses sounds better to me. But anyways even with the actual plot of shippuden i would of preferee itachi shippuden in an alternate timeline instead of burrito😅

If that's the case, there wouldn't even be a war to begin with. An immortal body with unlimited chakra, he basically has unlimited tsukuyomi. Which literally makes him the most broken character in anime history. He could simply tsukuyomi totsuka blade gg on every single person he looks at. The only real counter to tsukuyomi is a superior genjutsu kotoamatsukami which he himself possessed. The entire shinobi world is basically fked. You think edo rinnegan madara is scary. Boy you have no idea what's coming.

Then when he beats the shit out of Itachi, Gaara can use his sand eye to see and seal him with Grand Sand Mausoleum. Naruto is fast enough to avoid Amaterasu/ Fire Style and he can just bury a clone and have it jump out under the Susano’o the same way he ganked Neji.
