@Jon Miller kinda splitting hairs here, I didn't really mean he figured out everything about the jutsu - just that it was a teleportation technique beyond what his was capable of (which is what Minato says when he first sees Kamui). And as for if it was a counter.. I mean, Obito was *about* to use Kamui and Minato countered with Flying Raijin Lvl 2, I doubt the counter would work again tbh but definition wise that's what it was - a counter.
@Jon Miller you don't need to explain the video mate I know what happened, and yeah I agree he didn't figure out every little bit about Kamui but he definitely countered Obito. He didn't counter the direct full ability of Kamui because Obito didn't use it, either way Minato out classed Obito here and that's why he's awesome.

To be fair, there was serious plot armor here. Look frame by frame if you like, but absolutely nothing Obito does during his first attack suggests the weak point of his Kamui. Great observation.👍 It's something Kakashi obviously learned from him (due to Minato being his teacher). We see it in the fight Kakashi VS Pain. The only reason why Kakashi survived for so long was because he kept his calm.
It's really impressive how he managed to stay calm in this situation. The village is under attack by the nine tails, his wife and son has been kidnapped, and he is battling a guy who claims to be Madara.
Now that you mentioned it, I want to think that being able to remain calm to Minato's extent is want made him so scary when people referenced him in original Naruto.
I see why the writer had to have him killed. I truly believe with him around there wouldn’t be a show. He would’ve stopped the Coup of the Uchiha(with Itachi & shisui on his side) without killing the entire clan, and it would’ve also kept Itachi from leaving. That alone would’ve deterred Orochimaru from attacking the village the way he did, the akatsuki would’ve been stopped much sooner, Sauske wouldn’t have left, Pain wouldn’t have destroyed the village especially with Minato, Itachi, shisui, Kakashi, Naruto, 3rd Hokage(he wouldn’t have died), Might Guy, & Sauske around. Kishi, you are a genius.

He wasn’t just blind sided by Minatos first flying Raijin Jutsu, but then he starts to brag giving praise to Minato for perfectly countering him and before he even finishes his sentence Minato blindsides him again and hits him with the sealing curse effectively neutralizing him. The best part about this was Tobi was actually a real menace during this part of the story arc and nobody knew his powers or how to counter him but Minato figured him out and effectively defeated him on their first encounter. What’s even better is that this is the first time in the story where we meet Minato and he shows exactly why he’s regarded as such a legend in the Narutoverse.
@Jon Miller Nobody said minato countered Kamui, but he kind of did, since Obito's timespace jutsu that lets him dematerialize is basically just applying Kamui to part of his body.

What a phenomenal fight scene. Short and simple, but that's exactly what makes it great. We get to see how he process and breaks down the situation. That's a basic trope to explain the mechanism behind power/abilities in almost all anime. We always get to see characters thinking or talking during fights scenes. But what sets this apart is how it was written. It's straighforward and precise. Exactly how we see Minato as a character, and one of the traits on why he's almost anyone's favorite. He was in a hurry, and we felt that urgency all through out. But the way he was thinking of dealing with the situation was calm and collected contrasting to the chaos of what's around him. We get to see his thought process and from it, he excecuted a perfect attack without wasting a second. Not an overbearing flaunt of power. Just a pure display of technical prowess. 👏
The best way I have ever heard someone describe this battle was that if this was a fighting game he found someone online who was the most godly mixup fighting style ever. Analyzed it instantly and within seconds obliterated them.
It would be cool to get a series that would focus on the full exploits of past hokage from Minato, Sarutobi, Tobirama, and Hashirama. That way we could see them in full capacity of how they acted and what they did in battle. I'd call it Naruto: Hokage or legacy Gaiden or Natuto Past generations.
They can't because it would highlight all the plot holes of the series like for example the disappearance of the whole Uzumaki clan and the disappearance of the Senju clan too, two of the most powerful clans ever, and all the other incoherent things that happened in the past...
Minato is pretty intelligent, he could still calmly analyze his opponent even during such dire situations. Pretty clever of him to Rasengan Obito plus place a marking seal on him at the same time.
Everything about this fight is just perfect. The brief clashes and hints at the secret of Kamui. The "whoever strikes first wins" setup by Minato, the brief moment of celebration for Obito when he realizes that he's the faster one and then the beat drops ... Can't be repeated or topped IMO

The way Kishi wrote Minato's ability and how he crafted this fight made the wait to see him in action worth it. All those years hyping this character up and to pay off massively. Kishi, you are a genius.
Konan understood it better she knew the time limit and that the dimension exists
@@Pablo-vm5eh Konan knew Tobi for years, Minato just met him.
@@christianramirez9303 I think he’s referring to how long kamui lasts, not that Obito needs to be tangible to fight.
To be fair, Minato is a master of space and time jutsu which Obito also uses. Konan is not so she took her time in understanding Obito's technique. Another thing to take note of is that Konan only started fighting Obito when Nagato died.
@@christianramirez9303 they didn't fight if you didn't realise it. don't forget madara was playing with the pawns the whole time and obito didn't re-reveal himself for a very long time. Minato is such a satisfying character. It's sad we never got to see how he grew up and what he experienced. Imagine a full story of him in anime form.

Kakashi/Naruto/Guy: takes several fights to figure out Kamui
Minato: Figured Kamui out in one fight
That’s what makes him Hokage
They figured it out as well. They just didn't have flying rajin to help counter it and they didn't know that the kamui Kakashi had was also linked to the one Obito was using.(they found out later though)
He did not, he had a clue but was no near it, he was just too fast for the kamui.

I love how much Obito underestimated Minato in this.
💯
I mean Obito took on the 4th Hokage at age 14-15 and could control the Nine Tails. THAT IS A HUGE FEAT.
@@GamingLovesJohn Minato defeats him in 2 minutes
@Jon Miller didn’t he tho
@Jon Miller Nobody said minato countered Kamui, but he kind of did, since Obito's timespace jutsu that lets him dematerialize is basically just applying Kamui to part of his body.
wish there were more fights where the characters used their abilities creatively like this. This has gotta be one of my favourite fights in anime because it's so well executed and characterizes the fighters so well with how they use their abilities.
In a very short amount of time Minato not only just figured out how kamui worked and found hid counter also put a mark on him so he can track him in future and besides that put a sealing to free nine tails. Fast way fast. It could habe taken 2 3 or more episodes for that for any other character

MINATO IS THE GOAT HE THOUGHT HE WAS FIGHTING MADARA AND DIDNT EVEN DOUBT HIMSELF
One of the best scenes in this entire series
Sad thing is, we never got to see minato enter his prime. He died way too young. If he is this good early, imagine how powerful he would’ve became?
If he actually manages to survive after sealing the other half of the 9 tails we'd probably see more of him using kcm + flying raijin and might actually use a mini tailed beast bomb instead
I don't think that any amount of training would overcome his KCM2 from the war. So his death resulted in us seeing way more powerful version of him than he could've ever been on his own.
He could mastered the perfect sage mode and use it properly
That would have been terrible
@@Reality-Distortion KCM2 gives him more raw speed and power but given enough time he would've figured out the nature + rasengan combo and mastering sage mode and combining it with FTG would be able to compete with the speed from KCM2
