Samantha's cameo is perfection, her dialogue feel more like a sweet goodbye from Kim to the fans instead of talking to Carrie's flat.

Aiden not wanting to set foot on the apartment for the whole season and then do it only to give Carrie the middle finger should have hinted us! Selling your apartment for a man and then get dumped is wayy worse than a breakup post it.
I was so disappointed in Aiden, You let your child dictate your life, he's going to be all right when he's 18? He just taught him to hurt himself and he will get his way, no boundaries.. and the nerve to ask her to wait 5 years.. Oh no buddy we're old now.. LOL I might not have 5 years... I thought maybe Carrie giving the apartment to her neighbor could be a new spin-off of the original sex in the city with a bunch of new girls.
And just like that, Carrie didn't care even though previously for wayyy more minor issues she'd throw tantrum. And just like that, Aiden is a pos since yesterday. And just like that, every character completely changed their personality without showing us the change, just woke up different people.

Sure, the youngest kid is the most troubled about the divorce and needs his dad, but with the house Carrie bought, the kid would be back to living under the same roof with his dad a lot. Just make him understand that his dad also has a new love life. 14 is not too young to understand and get over this. Carrie and Aiden don’t have 5 years to waste while giving in to the kid’s immaturity.
Steve not being at the dinner party was another example of how the writers completely dismissed this much beloved character.
I wish they’d been able to keep the Samantha cameo a secret. Because it got leaked so early, we all got built up so much for it, even though we were all told it was a tiny cameo.

I dont see how they couldn't keep it secret. The scene was just by herself and looked like a green screen. They must have leaked it to peek our interest.

They definitely wanted it to get out so longtime fans would tune back in. That said, the cameo is exactly as big as most of us anticipated.

As a person that just doesn't laugh out loud much even when I find things funny, Kim Catrall has always been the only one of the 4 ladies with the comedic talent to make me lol.
I loved her line delivery of OH, I'M F-ING FURIOUS
She’s definitely the campest of the four but SJP has razor sharp comic delivery and perfectly executed expressions (in Mars Attacks she hams it up beautifully), and Cynthia Nixon has frequently made me laugh with her comic timing and delivery. Kristin Davis has also had her fair share of comedic moments through the show but I find her character quite neurotic, carefree and screechy in this reboot compared to the refined, restrained younger Charlotte, which is still believable, as we all change and evolve as we get older.
I laugh through the whole train trip. She and Carrie were so good in it.
Samantha Jones is the best character of the franchise
I just wanted to mention that I always considered Brady’s schedule as a baby total nonsense. Miranda worked hard M-F and had the weekends off whilst Steve was a bartender whose busiest days would be F-S.
Let's be honest: Brady was mostly raised by now totally forgotten Magda.
Doing the opposite would be too taboo for the time. Mothers had weekdays, fathers have weekends, unfortunately that's how it is by inertia.
I thought Steve had Brady during the day, Miranda at night, and Magda to fill in the gaps.
@@Tenebarum yes, and Charlotte had live in home nanny's that she felt threatened by cause they were to busty, remember the second film? her daughters were raised by and with the help of Nannies, while CHARLETTE WENT OFF TO PLAY WITH EHR FRIENDS AND SUCH, SO SORRY Charlette has no reason or legs to stand on to pull the I'm a women bull crap, she went from one billionaire to another guy with money, and only worked when she had to. sorry I call bull crap on this scene and this girl boss speech.
@@KasiaSopniewska There was even a whole mini plot about Miranda feeling bad because Brady didnt "recognise" her and prefered Magda. When she stuck all those pictures of herself on the toys. Also I believe Steve had weekends because Miranda had primary custody. It wouldnt make sense for Steve to have him for 5 days a week from that pov.
I wonder if Kim Cattrall would do more cameos if she didn't have to actually interact with any of the cast members 😂
Yes, I found the absence of Steve at the dinner to be puzzling. I think if Aiden was 100% going to be there, then steve would have been there. Aiden asking Carrie to wait 5 years was absurd. Bye bye Aiden, no loss.

We all know why Samantha left. Carrie is such a toxic friend. Samantha chose her peace of mind
The fact that Samantha ignored the other girls wasnt what made me furious, it was the storyline for her in general. Carrie wanting a new publicist would'nt have caused Samantha to fall out with her. Her character would never have been that petty. It was such a lame excuse by the writers and an insult to her character that NEVER judged the other girls for literally ANYTHING they did.
Samantha was portrayed as a selfish and greedy friend (all Carries characteristics). If anything, Samantha was the selfless friend always inviting and treating Carrie and the others to exclusive events and giving them gifts, because Carrie was broke most of the time. Carrie now has money because of Mr Big, she is who she is because of Mr Big money.
Wow, Aiden totally ''gaslit'' Carrie this time, she left her long-time studio to start a new life with him but now suddenly he needs 5 whole years apart from her so he can raise his kid!? Lol

Some issue will always arise that prevents her from doing so.

Successful single women don’t actually need a man, but we all need companionship. Children leave, friends have lives, and there are those moments when you do find yourself lonely and wishing you had someone just for you. It doesn’t make your entire life miserable or your success any less valuable, it just really sucks for about a couple of hours.
It seems to me that Carrie and Aiden are still in the same place they always were...let's face it, the love of her life was her husband while Carrie was the one who got away for Aiden. Even with Big dead, I don’t think that Aiden is mature enough to live in his shadow. When a widow moves on to her next chapter it doesn’t mean the love for her husband is gone...it just means she can share the parts of the heart that he doesn’t still occupy. I don’t think that's a reality that Aiden can cope with.
Samantha/Kim is that kind of beauty that will be magnetic no matter how much time passes... they have this 15 years magic forever
I know! A couple of months ago, I watched Kim in this 80s film called Mannequin, and she looked so angelic and beautiful in it.

5 years, I thought that Big’s death taught Carrie the lesson, life is too short! There won't be so many “5 years” left for Carrie (who is in her 50s) or anyone on this planet 😅 Not a good idea for her and what a ridiculous plot!
It was nice to see Samantha, although... it completely didn't make sense. She's coming for a party while a year (a year and a half? 2 years?) earlier, when Big died, she didn't even make a call or send a message. When she called, Carrie's only reaction was a smile, like nothing had happened. I also think it would be in Carrie's character to make a scene to Miranda and Charlotte: "aRe YoU iN tOuCh WiTh sAmAnTa AnD DiDn'T sAy A wOrD tO mE!? i'Ve BeEn sO wOrRiEd, YoU kNoW iT, aNd yOu DiD nOtHiNg tO cOmFoRt Me?!"
Samantha sent the flowers for Big’s funeral. Carrie’s a terrible friend.

Carrie and Samantha had fallen out when Big died. At the end of Season 1, Carrie and Samantha had started their reconciliation (the text). So the writers said in the “background”, Carrie & Samantha have been chatting since then.

I like Nya’s story line in this episode because it shows that you can have all the success in the world and still feel lonely or like something is missing. Not necessarily it needs to be a man, but maybe friends or family. I know because sometimes I’ve felt like that. 6:30

I completely agree with you. Nyas story is an important part of experience, I think people keep harping on it (Ive seen other reviewers talk about it too) because the viewers are starving for a character that is just fine not being in a romantic relationship. And while Nyas desire to have a man in her life is fine, realistic and important, the show is really missing someone to just be ok with their single self.
And I dont mean another Samatha, Sam was just one specific type of a single woman and theres many ways to just be ok with being single, like you said friends, hobbies, other family members etc.
I agree. I'm tired of the whole having to chose one or the other mindset. There is nothing wrong with being a successful woman and wanting to have someone to share your life with too. Someone to come home to and be there when you're sick or feeling down. Nothing wrong with wanting to fall in love.
I actually really liked when Nya was depressed cause she didn't have someone special to share her grat news with. I was like yes, finally a realistic moment where a smart and successful woman is also allowed to be vulnerable and still wish she had someone next to her to support her. I get that it was annoying how in the original the conclusion was "and they all just needed to find the right one" but currently Miranda is kind of in the process if disproving that in my opinion. So I liked that this scene was given to Nya's character.😊
I don’t mind that they gave Nya such a perfect boo in the end. Her character deserved a romance plot line, her sounding like she was feeling incomplete without a man was a bit cringe but I’m glad they brought that chef character back for her cause they have GREAT chemistry.
Aidan's character was always the one of a manipulative, egoistic big baby. But because he seemed so loving, loyal and caring, nobody seemed to notice. If you watch all the Aidan episodes ever, you'll understand that he was always "my way or the highway". And he still is. Big, on the other hand, was always honest. He was the bad boy, yes, but he never wore a mask. Carrie just didn't like that for ten years he couldn't or wouldn't give her what she wanted. But he was always the honest character.
Aiden was always a bit of a pain in the butt - he didn't want Carrie to smoke, had crazy Pete the dog, and a country shack, etc and now his kids (I get it but they're all mostly grown!) It's ridiculous for Carrie to have to wait 5 years for him. Sorry, Aiden is bland with no personality, Big had the zaza-zing! Either Aiden will find the earth mother he needs to help with his kids or Carrie will find someone else who can put her first. Besides why would Carrie want to live her life continuing to bend over backwards to please him?

I have to defend Harry. I always thought Charlotte had a trust and probably invested the 1m she got from Trey into a second income, but you cant raise 2 incredibly privileged Park Avenue brats without a lot of money. Between the two, Harry had the greater ability to provide the most income. Charlotte quit working when she met Trey, so her not working was her norm. She could have gone back to work part time and hired help. Hell, Miranda had childcare and cleaning service on one salary.
Charlotte had a trust, got some money from Trey and the appartment. But there was a whole plot line during her divorce about how she was volunteering in a gallery because no one would hire her. While she was financially taken care of and she wanted to be a stay at home mom for her kids when they were small, she also had problems getting a job at the time. Also from what i remember she didnt say anything about Harry participating in taking care of the kids until she came back to work, he took care of the kids ONE morning and he had a fit about how hes now doing everything by himself lmao
@BambiLena666 I recall that. So she couldn't get a paying job in a gallery. She certainly could have gotten a job in a different area, or continued to volunteer. I don't believe a well off person like Charlotte wouldn't have connections though. And I think it's ludicrous to expect Harry to clean the house. Attorneys work long hours. Just hire a housekeeper and let those kids learn some responsibility. If Lily is old enough for sex and weed, she's old enough to help cook and clean. Rock as well.
@@Tenebarum If she needed to she probably couldve found a different job. They agreed she would be a housewife for the kids tho and theres nothing wrong with that. Also lmao no one mentioned Harry is expected to clean the house. Like Charlotte said he helped with a couple of breakfasts for the kids and ran a few errands for the kids since she started working and had a fit about "how hes doing it all without any help". And in the end like you said, they are more than rich if Harry is so bothered by handling mornings with the kids a few times a week and running a couple of errands he can hire someone to do it. I thought Charlotte was pretty understanding with saying she knows it feels like hes doing everything, because he never needed to and Charlotte took care of everything before. Handling a few mornings with teenage kids is really the minimum of parenting work.
@BambiLena666 I swear I heard something about cleaning the house. But why can't a 14 and 17yo get ready in the morning themselves? If they want breakfast, they can make it. The only thing my parents did for me when I was 14 was to drive me places.
Charlotte acted like a child herself. She should have had a conversation with Harry instead of doing shots like a college student.
@@Tenebarum Nah, they said he did a couple of errands for the kids and handled a few breakfasts. I have no idea what their morning routine with the kids means but I doubt its much, cause they arent babies, its not like hes spoon feeding them.
As to why they dont handle breakfast on their own I dont know. But even if hes frustrated that the kids arent handling their own breakfast when they are old enough thats not a reason to have a fit to Charlotte about needing her help and how hes doing everything by himself because he handled a couple of mornings with teens.

I dont particularly understand this, she didnt go get drunk as a response to Harry, she went to have drinks to celebrate her huge sale with her coworkers, something Harry undoubtedly did many, many times over the years. She went overboard sure, she herself said she wasnt planning on repeating how drunk she got. And she did drunkenly dump her phone because they were showering her with messages and calls because she wasnt on their beck and call for ONE night. Which was dumb and irresponsible, sure.
Literally no one was harmed by this interaction, and its a supper common issue when a family is restructuring their responsibilities in the house. Harry being expected to sometimes handle parenting of teens now that Charlotte is working is really the bare minimum.
I love that Carrie wasn’t heartbroken about Aiden’s decision, considering the heartbreak she has suffered with being a widow, I can’t see her in wallowing in pain over her love focusing on his kids. Her and Seema chilling in Greece was a great ending for them both.

Aidan has absolutely no spine, imagine a girl who walked all over you, cheated on you, didn’t want to marry you, even later met you again, had a kiss and ran back to Big, love of her life and when her husband died many years later she suddenly misses you again and you come crawling back? This is the most unrealistic part, I recommend Aidan to get it together and find a beautiful young girlfriend
I’m hoping they can keep Sam in the show, how about calls or Zooms to Charlotte & Miranda as well?The girls could mention that it was ‘so good to see Sam’, & allude that she pops in to NYC all the time for work & to see the girls. That would be great stuff! It just melted my heart.

Unpopular opinion: I'm glad Aiden screwed Carrie over.
I always said he deserved better.... MUCH BETTER than always being Carrie's 2nd choice. I've disliked her character for a long time, and I think it's because of they way she treated him. Granted, Im not happy with the reasons why hes doing it, but still, she deserved that "FU" from him. Just dissapointed it wasn't because he decided he deserved better.
Same thing with Miranda and Steve. Always thought he deserved better.

Yes!! That dinner “exercise” was so uncomfortable. It’s NOT good TV. The whole episode was cloying and manipulative. Carrie never had pets and the kitten love was fake. Fake like so much of this season finale and entire series. Why can’t someone write this show with clever humor?? I’m still hating the women’s costumes too. UGLY. I watched SATC over and over for a Reason - I was entertained and amused. Every episode was & still is a joy. Such astute and tight writing. We should all get a refund from MAX.

Aiden turned out to be a meanie selfish brat that angered me. She should have said No... if you're a teenager then 5 yrs doing something eg studies or building career but st their age just to wait on a man yo see his child grow up n when you ask yo be included in the growth he says No... so what am I going into ? I loved Kim Cattrall as Samantha...but, honestly I didn't miss her this season. I really enjoyed season 2. IMO, the episodes got better and better. Whether you hate watched or really enjoyed the show...we still got a season 3😃🙌🏾

Samantha: I love Girl Power. But mama is out of batteries.

Things to fix Season 3.
1) Carrie and Steve start a relationship.
2) Miranda has an identity crisis and assumes an alternate identity, wig and all calling herself "Gloria" on dating websites.
3) Charlotte feels unappreciated at home and work and decides to take a "break." Renting a new apartment and working as an art curator. She is unsure if she wants her old life back.
4) Carrie and Miranda have a rift in the friendship
5) Brady and the demon child decide to get married in Vegas and the three put aside their differences to stop them.
Ideally i would love season 3 to be going back and forth between following Samantha's life in London and then the rest of the crew in NY. But i know Kim said she isnt interested in playing Sam anymore so it will never happen but it would be amazing.
Knowing that irl these two actors can't stand each other and knowing the scene was shot in two segments and then put together without them ever having spoken a word to each other takes all the punch out of it for me. Samantha absolutely did not steal the show
They have never said that they don’t get along. They’ve said they’re not friends, but do get along and respect each other as coworkers which is what they were.
@@abbsz Kim has been very vocal about it. SJP not so much. They may respect each other professionally but not like each other personally which seems to be the case..... but then again who knows....anything is possible.
@@abbszSJP was super jealous of how much attention Kim Cattral got while filming the series. There are many articles and podcasts by people who worked on the show telling stories about this. It’s well documented that SJP, Cynthia & Kristen are a little gang against Kim. It’s pretty messed up.

When you start talking about Nya-the way her character’s arc is written is true to real life.
For someone reason, the feminist movement wants to erase romantic love. Hell, I was one of those girls myself.
The thing is: friendships are great. Career achievements are AMAZING! Other wins really add color to life. AND romantic love is important for our emotional/mental and spiritual health/evolution. In the show, sharing a big win like that (which you even mentioned) allows for that high/joy to be amplified.
It’s this weird agenda to act as if love with a healthy person doesn’t add spice and flavor to life. Pair bonding is seen throughout all species; it adds something that other bonds cannot give.
And it’s the same with having children.
From someone that has been single for 5 years-romantic love doesn’t “complete you”, but it provides wholeness and aids in the building of the totality of the human experience.
So that narrative they left us with in SATC is accurate to life.
I think he was able to enter the apartment because his worries as a father instantly and thoroughly eclipse old, romantic dramatics for him. Not that he doesn't love her, but he is a father, first and foremost. And a bit of a power move, if unintended. After all she has done to him? He just gently but firmly put her in her place. I feel he would have put his family first in any partnership, but that's what I pulled from this one.
That scene with Sam was way overhyped and didn't add anything to the show to me. The whole thing was just a PR stunt.

Someone explain why Charlotte was seated next to Carrie, while Miranda was at the opposite end of the table? Freaking Che got the other seat next to Carrie? And after that set? In what world?!?
Also, it felt like a petty jab at Kim Cattrall to deflate the anticipation balloon by having her cameo in the 1st 5 minutes. It's as if they wanted us to forget all about her scene by the episode's end. #TeamAnnabelleBronstein.

The way SATC (the original series) ended for each character was absolutely nothing short of perfection & I believe that every true fan would agree.... So since this all is fiction, I now live in my own little fictional world where SATC ended, and after that, nothing. No movies, & especially no And Just Like That. Since this is all fiction, I'm also EXTREMELY wealthy and I am buying buying a private island and am moving. Anyone else who shares my opinion is welcome LoL!!!
For me it’s after the 1st movie. The 2nd movie had this weird uncanny valley quality to it and that continued with AJLT.
Okay girl, wtf. There was Samantha the whole OG series who was happy without a relationship, Nya is just expressing what millions of women feel. Not that she doesn't feel accomplished, but it sucks to have noone to share it with. Sorry this bothers your independent ass, but most people are still social species and are happier in relationships (if it's a good one). Nya is strong and independent but that also makes her feelings longing for companionship also very valid.

Seema. Her character is just a Glamorize personal assistant to Carrie, but also, I almost wanted to smack Seema upside the head because she waited for Love to come and when it finally does she backs out.
The last piece about the podcast about MPK says they want to flip the dynamic between Aidan and Carrie is a weak justification for character writing and development. This further make me feel like this whole time, since SATC, Carrie seriously just don’t know who she is. Tbh I actually think back in Season 4 of SATC where she said she can’t married to Aidan is the first time she realized that she doesn’t want to put this self worth in her SO anymore. If you look at Big (though I still think that’s her true love), and Alexander, she wants to be with them at all times because she feels a piece of her is not there when they are not there with her. What about your life ? Like Miranda was asking her in Season 6.
Though AJLT is not the best and nearly destroyed all my fav thing from SATC, but I actually feel more season 2 more relatable, because we started to see character development and self discovery journey with Charlotte and Miranda. Charlotte finally realized with everything she has, she wants to work in a job she loves, and that’s not diminishing the fact that she is a wife and mom, that’s part of herself. Miranda went through this kinda horrible but yet awkward sexuality awakening which is encouraging to tell us it’s okay to be in the middle of the journey to be not okay to not yet reach to shore yet, that’s part of the self explore phase. But only Carrie, I didn’t see anything changes within her after the grief, I feel like she is still this same person from SATC, craving for this idea of “love”, not really know who she is. Especially when the last part of Aidan is asking her to wait for him for 5 years, which is totally boundary crossing. But Carrie seems fine with it because she doesn’t know her boundaries.

shes probably in her 40s then. menopause doesnt really happen until 50ish but she miscarried which is more common when people are older/reaching that age. do you have any basic knowledge of the reproductive system?

in my head, shes in her late 40s. about 5 years younger than the other girls. i've known people in real life to have surprise pregnancies in their late 40s or very beginning of therir 50s so it rings true to life for me.... as does the miscarriage as miscarriage is way more common w pregnancy at that age.

Huge fan of sex and the city .. huge fan of and just like that!!! You know what they say .. the show must go on .. and I’m so happy they found their rhythm with all the new characters which I love!!! Was so good to see Samantha .. but the girls are doing a fabulous job without her … love that they are diving deeper with the characters and taking us on a journey!!! Every one complained about Samantha small 30 sec part saying it looked fake and forced, well what do you expect when she don’t want to film with any of that girls or the crew 🤷🏽♂️ get green screen and a phone call lol .. congrats on a 3rd season .. super excited !!!! And a fun fact … people didn’t like sex and the city … people thought it was all over the place and wasn’t relatable !!!! Just how people think about and just like that … which means they are on the right path !!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Loved your recap. I get the point about Nya but i think it was quite representative of a lot of women. In spite of how much society is meant to have changed, so many of the women I know still just want to get married and its rare they are so honest about it. You can tell Nya hates to admit her feelings in that scene but it is her genuine response. Don't forget Nya started off in a long term relationship/marriage and those feelings of companionship/grief for her marriage wouldn't just go away. What I think is worse is the validation Nya seems to get from having a man interested in her, as we've seen this a couple of times. It's not healthy. In reference to the original show, I've always felt they sold out as it did tackle many serious issues alongside the humor. BUT a toxic guy like Big would never have changed & I've never seen how the story line encouraging a woman to go back to that toxic relationship so many times was just really poor writing.
I absolutely enjoyed samantha jones cameo kim still is brilliant in the role I would love to see her again if kim feels like returning
