    Why do perfumes get reformulated? I thought Jeanne Lanvin was a woman! Thanks for the review.

    • @paologomez1698
      @paologomez1698  2 місяці тому +2

      Jeanne Lanvin is a woman. There are many reasons why perfumes get reformulated...a few would be: to cut down costs...or sometimes a certain oil or note becomes very expensive, they have to find an alternative...sometime because of IFRA where they would restrict the use of certain notes...and many more reasons...

      @@paologomez1698 Thanks. It is just so hard as so many of my favourite perfumes have been discontinued or in the case of Arpege, reformulated.

      It's a powdery rose. And a bit resinous. Beautiful stuff. Performance is great as well. Literally like a rose scented talcum powder. =)

    I'd love to know if Tom Ford's Champaca Absolute was popular with chic Filipino women. When the flower and the scent is connected to culture and memory I think the bottled fragrance must surely resonate more? It's a love or hate fragrance, a bit like the ghastly 'Oriana' by Parfums de Marly. Thanks for drawing attention to this quiet old classic fragrance. Lanvin's Arpege in the 1980s was gorgeous. I don't dare to try the contemporary version in case it's insipid in comparison and turns 'weird' on my skin instead of remaining dense and full of connectivity and 'charge' (like most vintage formulas always did). It's hard to put it into words exactly 'how' the classic old formulations differ to the modern ones but people familiar with the old and the new instantly recognise an inferior version.

      I will have to revisit TF's Champaca Absolute. Generally, culturally, Filipinos are very hygeinic. Smelling good is a must no matter the demograph. Filipinos typically like freshies and light fragrances. Total opposite of what I love. 😆

    My mom used to wear Arpege and Knowing all the time, always reminds me of her! I also remember a very unique scent that came in a burgundy glass bottle with a gold tear drop shape cap. The perfume itself was a milky white liquid, and the scent was very sweet, almost candy like. I can’t remember the name, does it ring any bells for you?

      1. Make sure you are getting from a reputable source.
      2. Well, I am assuming (good assumption though) back in the day they never made fakes of this perfume.
      3. Take note there is a risk that the perfume might be stale already. Going back to number one, you need to know your seller.

    Marilyn Monroe wore Lavin Arpege in 1960 on the set of the Misfits. As she said in an article and I quote: “I like to wear something different once in a while”. I spray it on my ankles, into the back of my knees and all the way up to my eyeballs so the fragrance all belong to me. Credit to Erin Parsons & Mona Marlow 💄
