Shanghai university used to be my dream school to attend. But since now I've remembered I am an immortal witch, human universities does not resonate with me anymore. And therefore , now there's a school I found that was meant for people like me.
Oh my god I just found your video, thanks you so much! I'm a French student who is going to study there next year so it helped me to figure out how it looks like, and it looks very nice, the campus seems to be a good place to make friends and to enjoy your exchange program! How did you find your room? I do not even know if I would prefer to take a single one, a double one or if it might be a better idea to find a flat around the university. What do you recommend? Thanks you, hope you enjoyed your life in Shanghai.
Hey! I'm really happy you found my video useful :) If you are looking to find housing at the International Student Dorms on campus (where I was staying) then there will be a time to reserve your rooms through Fudan's housing portal, which your program should send a few months before departure. Ask them about it if you have time! I'm so excited for you, you're going to have an INCREDIBLE time abroad. Have fun!!
ack at 5:05 when the man handed you the receipt with two hands and you took it with one hand, it's a disrespectful gesture. if you are going back to china again, take something with two hands because that's more polite
generally if its just service like that you dont rlly need to, coz ur the customer and hes providing service. however, two hands definitely applies when you accept anything from someone older or of a higher position than you.
i’m curious to know if the other international students you met there were already your friends, or did you make friends right on the stop when you got to the university? i want to know if other students socialize with other new students or do they already have their circle so they don’t need any new friends. i’m asking you this as a person that is socially awkward.
Hey! So I actually only knew one person when I went abroad (and I rarely saw them there because we lived quite far from each other), so I basically started from scratch as well! I will say that it is extremely easy to befriend other international students, as everybody is in the same place and eager to make new friends, especially in hot spots such as the foreign student dorms, clubs, and events! As long as you go forward with an open heart and mind, you will find friends everywhere.
My family is from shanghai but we live in England rn, I really want to apply to uni at fudan in architecture. While watching this video I got anxiety watching you navigate the subway system😂😂, whenever I use it I feel like I’m going to get horribly lost and just starve somewhere in the middle of Shanghai 😂😂
Hi are you studying at fudan University, I'm so I'm very interested but just confused about a few things. How do you afford things like rent or food, just basic living needs because I've heard it's hard to get any work in china. Any help is appreciated! Thanks
How did you survive the first time you came to Shanghai? I mean, the language problem. Most of foreigners who came to China for the first time don't speak Chinese😢
Honestly, it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, especially since Shanghai is working towards being one of the most foreign-friendly areas in China! Lots of things are written in English, and for everything else I would make sure to travel with a Chinese-literate friend whenever possible, and also download the Google TRANSLATE app to work offline for Chinese -> English and vice versa! Very helpful

Hey Richard! I took International and Global Studies classes while I was there. I have heard that the foreign student curriculum is much easier than the local students', and I believe it. Hope that helps!
