Your vlog is quite close to the day to day experience of local life and that's great. Things change fast and it's hard to prove they once existed. Thanks for recording those memories. They are beautiful.
Watching this video makes me emotional. I come from shanghai and I graduated from Fudan 2 years ago. Now I'm in the US working on my phd. Really miss Fudan and Shanghai. Thank you for the video!
I miss China a lot ... I lived two years in Tianjin and this video reminds me how happy I was ... I need to quit my job and go back... Love your video ... :)
too much has changed , line ten will extend to Pudong this year, Shanghai changed too rapidly , hapson one is the mall which completed this year. You lived in the same neighbourhood as me and I just went back after one year and couldn’t realize so many things
Hi, I am new to your channel. But girl, your way to interpret what you saw with your stories and memories in your video is so refreshing to me that I can't find another video in youtube that has done the same. I am a very nostalgic person (I guess we are the same.) Really really love your video and you as a person. Welcome home in China :)
YES!! Thanks you so much for this video. It brought back a lot of good memories. China was always this love/hate thing, but in the end love always takes over. Only thing I missed was the music when walking into family mart. I used to get meishi kafei there EVERY day for like 2 months. Crazy how time flies...
I had lived in those dorms back in 2010 when I was a staff of a high school summer camp held in Fudan. I think back then the dorms were for young college instructors. I remember karaokeing with the students at Wujiaochang until the sun rose on the very last day of the camp. So much nostalgia!
Graduated 33 years ago but nothing looks familiar any more whether it was in 2014 or 2018. Love the school for its values and hope they remain the same.
I grew up on Zhentong Road, and I really miss it there. Maybe the changes in the past 4 years were crazy (or even depressing looking), but compared the 15-20 years ago, I always find myself in awe. I'm proud of the little Wujiaochang
This is the video I was most looking forward to watch...not disappointed. I really felt your nostalgia and tinge of sadness. Regarding your favourite store 'Mom'...after four years, do you think there is a tiny chance of it turning into that 'grandmother' restaurant in your last video? :D
Helen's moved I'm pretty sure because it was open when I was there last year, and WE Coffee is the entrance, the cafeteria is still inside if you go in farther. They also sell Korean food now. I was at Fudan in 2017. This was so interesting to see how it changed from your perspective.
Hi It’s very awesome to see you enjoying your life in China. I’m from Shandong province and when i saw your video I could feel how you exactly feel. Such amazing excitement has also infused me as I see China has been so highly developed all these years while i was studying in Canada. I enjoy your video, it’s like sharing the same pleasure to see my home country too everywhere^^
Ms Awesome you are totally awesome and please don't be sad. I know what you feel. Being a native Shanghainese, I had my daycare long gone, primary school still around. high school was a public school but privatized and moved to suburb, my sr middle school was merged and also relocated. My entire childhood is almost wiped out. And I am the lucky guy who still have one school intact coz my wife had nothing left even her university was merged to TongJi University. Shanghai downtown has changed so much that I can barely recognize it.
Small fast food shop comes and go all the time in China... Fry chicken was on trend back then, Super Chicken did really good job for surviving that long... Also the government had a campaign on cracking down the “违章建筑” in recent years, a lot of small properties are unauthorized construction, and that's why some of them are gone.
Your life rocks. Judged by the shaking and vibrating movements. I visit Shanghai every year for the past three years. Probably not too many earthquakes. And by the way, Fudan's cafeteria is miserable. You have to go south and eat at Tongji's!
The Yangpu district of Shanghai was undergoing an illegal contruction tearing down project back then. So that’s why you saw many stores alongside those roads were shut down and rebuilt.
Good editing.. and recording.... you might want to do something like comparative research.. such as comparing and contrast between the scene 4 or 5 years ago and compare it with the relative stability of “home” where ever that is... good luck.😘😘😘
haha! ur video shows every details of my last 4 years hahah, i was a student of SHUFE and had just graduated. passed fudan international dorm almost every day but never get in :(. and Helens is still there, they add a chinese brand and open a new entrance at ING's left side. and i have a question which been in my head for a long time... since i found that international students of shufe would go to canteens only a couple of days after their first arrival, i have been wondering for 4 years that where do they go for meals routinely? It haunted me....
OMG I just finished an exchange program in Fudan a few weeks ago. This video makes me recall those good times!! Everyday morning I walked from the street 2:54 to SOC school crossing the Guanghua building!!! Btw, I am Chinese. Last time, I went to WujiaoChang was like 3 or 4 years ago as well. Well.... I mean before I went to fudan for exchanging. It has changed so much for the past a few years. Anyways, i always get lost there as well. LOL
i'm planning to apply for 2020, but i'm 28 years old now, you think is still fine? Did you have older people at your chinese program as well? I'm really interested at 1 year one, i've been to sh a few times and i just truly love there. Thanks for the videooos!
Helen's is still there, they just took down the big sign on the roof. The little supermarket in the main building of the dorm is still there too, the funny little coffee shop is attached to it. The sad closed off section is still sad and closed off. And that cafeteria is still there, it just has that We Coffee place on the side. I'm writing this from my dorm room on the 8th floor!
They always say don't wait, just travel, because you never know when you'll have another opportunity...but with China, you've got to travel now because if you wait, it'll be completely different. Like this vlogger keeps finding out.
Thank you for your video taking me back... I used to live in the dorm on the opposite side of Wuchuan road and it was even 15yrs back! Never liked the main building, partly because of a similar nostalgia as yours, partly because it just doesn't fit! Agree?
Time is travelling so fast. I spent years pursing a degree in the United States and I'm now working in Shanghai. Hope I'd be able to come back and see the place where I've lived for some time every several years.
You need a wide-angle lens to film that tall-and-wide building. Alternatively, you can take still photos of different sections and use software to stitch them together. My final choice would be to use a drone to move backwards over obstacles and take a video that way.
I saw ur video about ur school life in Fudan uni like a year ago and knew how u struggled in here. Just can't believe that u will be back after sooo long😂😂😂of course, u r always welcomed in Shanghai. imma studying in college in another city right now.really miss my life in Shanghai a lot. Just love ur video:). ( u r really pretty BTW:)
I'm emotionally attached to that closed family mart too. Had illness and stayed at that hospital for 2 weeks and that family mart is where I go everyday. The whole street looks like they want to do renovation but can't decide what to do. So now it looks like this.
I often have the sense of disorientation in a Chinese big city, cuz of the new buildings, complexes, metros, constructions:) Constructing everywhere every year indeed
Rebuilt a property. We called this asset enhancement in real estate in order to maintain or increase the value of the property or increase property yield.
Oh no girl, the pink building are not chinese dorms, those are mixed dorms for chinese and foreigners and helens moved to the next building above ing. also the cafeteria is above the coffee place.
I have a young professor friend who teaches math there. His office is in the twin tower where I went to see him. He took me to the student cafeteria and we had lunch....the food was ok lol
I'm so happy I ran into your video. I left Fudan 4 years ago too! And just so many memories flashing back! Thank you!
Welcome to China,I hope you have a happy journey.
Wow Fudan Uni... it’s definitely one of the most prestigious universities in China!
Just graduated from there a week ago and already started missing it!! Thanks for this great video!
Thank you for the tour. Makes me feel wonderful to see people enjoying other countries.
Greetings from a Fudan University alumnus. Been there between 2004~2009. Great memory.
5:04 God bless you... You're so cute! You should go back in another 4 years... I am curious to see how much it would change again.
Love your videos. its so refreshing.
I miss China a lot ... I lived two years in Tianjin and this video reminds me how happy I was ... I need to quit my job and go back... Love your video ... :)
上海最好的大学, also I admire ur memory
I'm coming to Fudan in a month to study for a semester and your video just made my day!!
I was there on exchange in 2013 and wow this was blast from the past! Can't believe Helen's is gone :(
Wow! I was at Fudan in 2002. Nothing looks the same at all. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoyd ur vid. Things change so fast in chinese cities that even a few years can be like decades in other countries.
Fudan is my university! You are so cute!❤ China always welcoming you back!
I graduated from FDU in 2014. So many good memories there!
too much has changed , line ten will extend to Pudong this year, Shanghai changed too rapidly , hapson one is the mall which completed this year. You lived in the same neighbourhood as me and I just went back after one year and couldn’t realize so many things
It's nice to see someone found herself in nostolgic mood.

I studied at Fudan in 2008 and also had the greatest time there. Seeing the main building brings back a lot of memories. Such an awesome place :)
Lol...great vlog into your life at Fudan ...China changes really quick
3:53 Fruit! they traded crazy chicken for fruit! Unbelievable! < -----this made a good laugh for me!
yep, that's the one that got me :p
OMG you are back! Watched your vid years ago before we decided to move to china for a year.
So interesting watching you exploring Shanghai by yourself happily. Take care always!
Your videos are awesome!! Thanks for giving us such an introspective view of what life is like in Shanghai!! Love it!
China is actually a rapidly developing country so things change pretty fast over there. Things are probably even different now.
Absolutely!
I had lived in those dorms back in 2010 when I was a staff of a high school summer camp held in Fudan. I think back then the dorms were for young college instructors. I remember karaokeing with the students at Wujiaochang until the sun rose on the very last day of the camp. So much nostalgia!
This is amazing, thank you for uploading this video
Wow. I paused so many times the video looking for changes.
I was at Fudan in 2015 and this video just gave me chills.
Really good memories :D
Graduated 33 years ago but nothing looks familiar any more whether it was in 2014 or 2018. Love the school for its values and hope they remain the same.
Nooooooooo! The family Mart is gone! I went there every day!
Thank you so much for this great video! 再见!

Actually, in the next video I will be having dinner at a restaurant called Shanghai Grandmother hahahaha
Wait until Metro line 18 gets built in 2020, Fudan university will be one of the stops!
it felt like 1000 years too late for that, even jiaotong uni in minhang already get their own metro stop year ago
Tell me about it, but i guess its better late than never. Shanghai already has the world's largest metro station by track length!
Can you imagine express trains in Shanghai? Yeah
sunxxl01 network
I will go to fudan tomorrow for the international summer session. Nice to meet you

I studied at Fudan in 1989-1990. Great memories!
I missed there so much ! Thanks for the video showing there.

The Korean Rice next to Fudan entrance! omg, such a lost.

You are so charming

The city is constantly changing
back when I was there, 20 years ago, there wasn't even the main building you referring to, I missed the old uni streets and buildings :(...
I'm emotionally attached to that closed family mart too. Had illness and stayed at that hospital for 2 weeks and that family mart is where I go everyday. The whole street looks like they want to do renovation but can't decide what to do. So now it looks like this.

things change fast in major cities in China, one year could make a huge difference
I often have the sense of disorientation in a Chinese big city, cuz of the new buildings, complexes, metros, constructions:) Constructing everywhere every year indeed
