I'm so sorry for the loss of your friends. That's the worst part about growing older. One of my long time friends just lost her husband in October; that's the first one in my group of friends.

So happy that Pepper has found a loving, furever home! ❤ My cousin recently adopted a kitten after several years of not having a pet. She said they forgot how crazy and busy kittens are but they’re loving her antics and cuddles! =^.^=
Lennie, a friend and I were recently talking about all the changes we’ve experienced in our 60something years. We’ve both been RNs for over 40 years and grown with the technology. Our Dad’s both served in WWII. Back when it was dial up AOL my Dad who rarely talked about his time in the Navy (he was 17-20 years old) asked me to check and see if there were any reunion groups for his shipmates. That’s when I heard what ships he’d served on and that they were troop transport ships. I found a contact person who lived within 2 hours of my parents. Gave him the phone number and it took him awhile to call him. My parents then went on a cruise with the dwindling group and the next year I was invited to go along with the Navy group on another cruise which coincided with my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The unique bond between these men and their pride in having served their country was evident. I think it was also therapeutic for my Dad to talk about that time with peers. I’m sorry for you loss of a friend and thankful for his service. 🇺🇸 The beginning of another trip around the Sun is a good time to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are and what really matters. Happy New Year 🎉
How wonderful that your dad finally had the opportunity to have that experience. My dad and father-in-law both served in the navy in WWII. My dad was stationed in LaJolla and Coronado in WWII and I wish he had lived to see my son go into the Marines and serve in some of the same locations. I'm sure there is a very special bond among those who served together. Yes, now that Pepper is feeling comfortable in her surroundings she is getting into everything.

Hello Ladies - I thoroughly enjoyed the flosstube. Pepper is adorable. I could not believe she had been in the store since August. We lost our two cats a couple years ago and miss them a lot. They lived to be 23 and 20. It was so hard to lose them, we are not quite ready for another cat. Linnie, your bedtime story was beautiful. Made me teary eyed. I even got my husband to come listen to it and he too enjoyed hearing it and made him teary eyed and reflective about the story and our lives. We are celebrating our 47th anniversary on Monday the 22nd. So we have lived through a lot of this change together! Take Care ladies.
It's hard to get past the hurt when you lose a beloved pet. We have never had the luck to have our kitties live that long so trying to soak up how happy little Pepper is to have her own home and people who adore her. She has the sweetest disposition and I don't know why someone hadn't claimed her but glad she's ours now.

Oh, my goodness! Sitting in my comfy chair knitting, looking out at the wind blowing the snow around the roofs, with the sunshine streaming the window warming my cold legs - yours was a perfect floss tube! I loved Roberta’s description of all the wonderful projects and talented stitchers at the Attic - so inspiring. And then Linnie’s reflection! I was born in 1945, so that historical review was so true to my experience - I had tears in my eyes at the end.

Not much progress since I got home unfortunately, but hoping to get back to the Merry Cox piece in February. Excited to be starting the Smith Sampler today! We are so lucky that Pepper waited for us all those months. She is a joy!

Welcome to pepper! I enjoyed hearing all about the Attic retreat and seeing both of your beautiful projects. Roberta, I stitched A Study in Blue a few years ago and it fit on the box without any issues and hadn't heard that people had problems. Maybe mine worked because I got it a while ago and maybe something has changed since then. Hope yours will fit. What a very sweet sentiment that you both gave at the end of the video. We are in the upper 50s last year we were under 10ft of snow in Northern California. Feels so good to have the windows open, not good for our forests, but last winter almost broke me.

Roberta, congratulations on your new furry friend. Pepper is adorable and I’m guessing a bit mischievous. I loved hearing about the retreat. I was a history major in college and enjoy stories about the past. The samplers you showed are beautiful. I wouldn’t have the patience to stitch anything that complicated but I can certainly appreciate the beauty and time that goes into stitching them. Linnie, well said. You and I are around the same age. I’ll be 72 this May. A good friend from when my kids were growing up passed away before Thanksgiving. She was 72. I have long since moved away from where I raised my kids so we lost contact. She was a year older than me. My son told me she had a heart attack. I was in shock. It brought to mind that I need to appreciate all I have in my life and the things I can do. I never dreamed (after my difficult divorce when my kids were still in elementary/middle school) that I would ever own a home again and get to live in my dream place in Southern CA where we vacationed as kids and then where we took our kids during the summer. I could go on and on and I think about these things every morning when I wake up. This year I picked the word intentional and it started out as wanting to apply it to my stitching. However, as I reflected on my life and how I wanted to live it from here on out, I decided to apply it to other aspects of my life. So thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. It would be fun to sit and have a conversation with you about it. Trouble is, I live too far. I’m sorry for the loss of your neighbor. You just never know from one day to the next. I appreciate both of you and love your FlossTube. As someone mentioned, this one is a keeper. Stay warm and I hope the weather gets better. You all have a lot to put up with right now. I can’t even imagine. Sorry this was so long but it struck something within me.
Hi Barbara. This is one of most heartfelt and sincere comments Doesn’t it feel good when you look back at your life to what you have or even have not accomplished but you had the privilege to try. Life wouldn’t happen well if you didn’t have life and yes there are choices you make along the way and hope you did your best. I still think our generation has adapted to change and have made it. History is a favorite subject and part of the reason I think I'm so drawn to samplers. To imagine those little girls stitching as part of their schooling or at home is endearing to me. I'm with you about being intentional about my stitching. I've gotten a little carried away with my acquisitions and have been re-evaluating and de-stashing those that I know I'll never get around to stitching. There are so many things I dearly want to stitch and would rather pass along the other things, which are still wonderful, to someone else to enjoy.
