I think you are more than capable of replacing the veneer. Tape off your keep sections and use a large square or ruler and cut along the edge with a very sharp blade. Use heat on it first and it will cut like butter and pull right up. Scrape away any excess glue (while keeping it warm) and then sand it smooth with 120 grit then 220 grit. Allow the table to acclimate to the air in the room for 48 hours before laying the laminate. Leave the laminate in the same room. Just remember that you remove it warm and lay it down at room temperature. It also helps to cut your piece of laminate ahead of time (oversize it by 1/4" all the way around) and allow it to lay flat for those 48 hours. Once you are ready to lay it, start in the middle, don't go edge to edge because you won't see shrinkage until it's too late. I know you'll do great, Natalee. Don't be scared

Do the veneer. You already have it. You won't ruin the table. The miscreant who left the towel on the table already took care of the ruining. You basically have a carte blanche to do what you want. The only thing you could ruin is the small piece of veneer. Create on DIY Darling. ❤

There’s loads of ‘how to repair veneer’ videos on UA-cam, I’m sure it’s within your skill set and you have nothing to lose. If it doesn’t work out you can paint it or put a table runner down the centre. I think the table legs would look great black. I absolutely love the new upholstery on the chairs.

I vote you try the veneer. Here's my reason why....my grandparents had a buffet that my great-grandparents bought second hand. When I got it I got my grandparents secret....grandpa had set an iron on the oak top and it burned through to the drawer. My dear sweet Father-in-law fixed it by covering it with veneer. My buffet is beautiful once again. And i love that it has a FUN story with it.

Hey if that was my table I would get a new one because I don’t have your amazing skills! At least not yet!! I know you could DIY it to be gorgeous with paint or fixing the veneer. I cannot really tell from the video but can you replace the top only? Maybe thrift for a little longer top to pair with your pretty base?? We did that once with an old table that had really bad legs. We framed in a base to the top and screwed on a new pedestal.

On the table, cut out a more even shape on the table using a sharp blade. Lay a piece of paper on the table where you cut it out and use a lead pencil to trace around the cut out section. Then transfer that to the veneer you bought. It's like an inlay process. The YT'er Flippingdrawers does it all the time on his channel. If all else fails you can always put it on Marketplace and get a different one.

My dining room table also got damaged and couldn't be repaired. I called a local glass shop and had a glass top made for it. This hid the damage, made the table easy to keep clean and also made it look dressier for the dining room. I can still use tablecloths or place mats but don't have to worry about the wood anymore.

The dining room window is a dramatic focal point and the curtains hide it. Not being there in person, I can’t judge how much it would affect the privacy of your home but from an aesthetic perspective, it would be stunning without any window treatments

Get some kind of filler then let it dry well. I have always had good luck with using acrylic paint to fake wood areas that needed to be fixed. Actuall I've used it to repair laminate. If you are afraid of the inlay make a perfect template then steam off the veneer. And go from there.

Table suggestion - Several (maybe 10) years ago we redid a cabinet that was very dark walnut and I wanted it a light oak color. After what seemed like an eternity of sanding, I applied the stain and it awful. Very splotchy, darker in spots. We then purchased some 4 x 8 sheets of 1/4" oak and cover the entire cabinet and changed the trim. I stained it in the light oak and a clear coat. It turned out amazing and still looks fantastic.
Regardless of which way you go, I know it will be great. Thanks for sharing all your ideas.

We had a similar table issue and our patch jobs never looked right. In the end, we sanded it, primed, painted, and sealed it with premium products. Worked beautifully. So we did the same thing to everything else in our dining room. We were slightly scared because we had some vintage pieces but afterwards, looked like a shiny new car! It has lasted almost 25 years. However, I personally looove a humongous table and it looks like you have more than enough room for one!

Patch table with bondo, paint top leave legs as now. You are amazing whatever you decide will be beautiful. I go easiest for me😊

Yeah, Bondo fill, paint a faux carrarra marble and epoxy top coat. Big for counter top makeovers. Why not try on the dining table.

I would go the paint route even if it’s just the top and put some heavy duty protectant on it. so you don’t have to watch so close and that no one puts something on it. Less stress later. 😊

Fill the damaged area with glue gun glue to create a "mold" after it does pull it out an use it to cut the laminate. Of course cut the laminate just a tad smaller than the mold. Attach the laminate and use the same create a filler by using some of the sanded wood fibers and little Elmer's glue.
Hope this helps if you choose to replace the laminate ❤❤❤

Paint the table black to match your chairs and ditch the table cloth. Use a table runner instead 😉 👌 I was on the fence about the cheetah print, but I loved how they turned out.

I think you should paint it. And if you don't like it, then get a new one. Working with veneer is so hard. Hubby and I tried to fix the top of my antique vanity top with veneer. It's not perfect but it'll work for me. I'm sure you could handle doing it though! I think no matter what you end up doing, it’ll turn out awesome! You do you, boo! 🙂
The room turned out beautiful! You're so talented!

Natalee you’re so pretty. When you had that black hat on, the white shirt & your hair in a messy ponytail.. I thought how can she look so flipping cute with a hat and just a ponytail!!?!
Love the curtains, love the upholstered chairs (no one would ever know you patched) shhhh 😉
The Fall DIY candlesticks w/pumpkins.. cute cute cute.. very high end looking.
Fill the table put some furniture wax in the color of the table and let it go.. no one will notice.. The room is GORGEOUS!! 🍂

I think you should try the veneer. Two different wood tones can look very nice and high end especially with the cheetah print. I would paint the table legs black. Love the cheetah chairs. Beautiful pumpkin centerpiece. Drapes look awesome. Have an amazing day and weekend.

Paint the table to match the hutch. You could make a "scarf " (out of the same leopard print) to place over the top of the white chairs to hang about 12 inches down the back ( like a throw but not near that large) therefore, coordinating the chairs together. Geez!! I hope that made sense!!😅😅
Love the pumpkins on the stands. Very high-end looking.
WOW!! Those curtains made a world of difference!!
Love love love the centerpiece!! Gorgeous!!
BTW, love the cheetah print! A girl after my own heart!!
Take care beautiful lady and God bless you and yours. ❤❤

Thank you for showing us that it doesn't have to be done all at one time and things don't always turn out perfectly. Although you make things look perfect. I'm going to use that candle stick/pumpkin idea!!

Personally I would bondo and paint. You could do a light paint wash that looks like that neutral wood tone that’s on there now, followed by lots of water based poly (to avoiding ambering). I LOVE that table. It is so unique. You’re so talented, I’m sure you can do either technique but me personally I would paint.
