    56 count, Anna? Amazing! Great job. I love Cedar Linen too - but I’m always saving it for something special - lol. Caroline - your colorwork sweater is amazing. Love it. Oh Anna = I live your ideas of basket pillows for a dough bowl - such a great idea . I do one thread length a day on my “Big Red Ship of Life” it’s amazing how much progress I get done in a month. But I’m retired so I have time to do that. Anna - being a grandparent iS the best - I feel your joy. ❤. Can’t wait to see your WIP parade - and thanks in advance for sharing.

      I see more high count stitching in my future! Whoah! I just looked up "Big Red Ship of Life" - it's inspiring to me that you are stitching that using a length a day! So far, I've stitched 6 lengths into my "The Fruits of Plenty" and I can see progress already. Happy Crafting, Peg! -Anna

    I have to say, that reindeer is kitted up to be my first ornament for 2024! The Workbasket pattern for that deer can be found in the 2006 Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments issue. The ornament in the issue has added a green ribbon around the neck with a small silver bell. The one that you stitched Anna is lovely! I cannot wait to begin mine.

    Anna, the ornament you stitched on 56ct is amazing! Carolyn, I want my older sister to make a needle book for me! 😂 So fun hearing about your plans for 2024. I do think stitching large designs and the bigger cut of linen that is needed slows me down too even though I use a hoop. It’s a lot of fabric to deal with! Looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings in your stitching lives xx

      I'm getting pretty good at what I call the "fabric flip", to get the excess out of the way! Carolyn just went to her first stitching meet up today. Can't wait to hear all about it and can't wait to continue building relationships withs stitch-y friends - you're so good at that, Tricia! Happy Crafting! -Anna

    Anna and Carolyn, I really love your videos. It is wonderful to hear the two of bounce ideas off each other. You work together seamlessly, probably because you are sisters. I LOVE the catwalk segment. How did you two come up with that idea? Your stitching is beautiful. I think you balance your stitching/crafting talk with just the right amount of life/family. In my opinion, that is a hard thing to do. Happy stitching. Best, K

    Anna, for your dough bowl of floral baskets. Along with pillows, you should consider other shapes such as strawberries (Blackbird Designs' "Deck the Halls" booklet has 2 options and great finishing directions), button/ribbon bags (Blackbird Designs "Sewing Club" book), or biscornu (Hearstring Samplery Flanders Fields). Carolyn and Anna, I look forward to finishing my Fruits of Plenty with you this year, hopefully, before April when it celebrates a 3 year anniversary.

    Love, love, love watching you ladies! I am always so inspired by your projects and ideas and your curiosity is contagious. I am a fairly new stitcher who is definitely still trying to figure things out! I stitch in hand and would love to hear you talk more about your actual stitching approach/style. Do you use Danish cross stitch or Victorian cross stitch or a combination of both, etc? Your stitching is absolutely beautiful, so I would love to hear more about the mechanics behind your craft. Thank you for sharing!

    • @we.are.curiouscrafters
      @we.are.curiouscrafters  8 місяців тому

      We use all kinds of methods, depending on the motif! Finishing each cross as we go (I have experimented with several ways of doing this) OR doing a line of half crosses first and then coming back. And even though I stitch in hand, sometimes I use the sewing method, and other times I use the stabbing method. I think the tension of the stitches gets more consistent the more you stitch. Happy Crafting, Laura! -Anna

    Happy New Year 2024 Anna and Carolyn! So many beautiful finishes and WIPs. I'm happy to hear you will be attempting finishes on Fruits of Plenty (but a wee bit sad about the assignment breakup 🤣). Anna, I love the idea of a "basket" small for 2 months. I look forward to seeing that. And Carolyn, you are NOT afraid of BAPs!!! Hawk Run Hollow is no joke! I've seen that finished at Shepherd's Bush in Utah. Whatever 2024 may bring, I look forward to ALL of different types of stitching you and others will do!

    Oh goody, a new flosstube!
    Some great plans there!
    Anna, I love your baskets idea. There are so many lovely ones and they can make a great small (and not so small) stitch.
    I'm trying to do 1% each time on anything I pull out to stitch. Most of my projects are on pattern keeper so that's an easy way to keep track and so far the 1% is around 200 stitches. But then I'm retired and am able to stitch from sun up to sun down.
    Happy New Year Carolyn and Anna! I look forward to following your stitching year.

    Another enjoyable floss tube. My ears perked up when you spoke about designers sharing their process. I'm NOT an Instagram user. I've got an account in order to see the odd thing that is of interest, but frankly, I've not gone on there for almost a year. I don't have fancy phone so I'm not able to easily post photos (I use a camera that hasn't got phone capabilities and I like it that way! My phone is a landline; it works when the power/internet goes out.)
    I've had a BLOG for almost 21 years now. As an art quilter, **that's** where I post my process -- with text and photos. That's where I'd look for the process records of others. I'm not interested in a small screen with teeny photos and no descriptions (or limited verbiage). I'm saddened by the slowing interest in blog posts, because even though I'm a visual artist, I am first a *word* person; a series of phots/pictures (eg., on IG or Pinterest) without context bores me. I want the back story -- and a blog or website is where you find that...without the time-consuming challenge of making a video (not to mention the lighting and microphone expense etc.).

      So happy to know about your blog, Margaret! I just read your most recent entry - laughed when I read the sentence in which you crossed out "years" and replaced it with "decades"! Carolyn used to have a blog, NonaKnits, and we started our FlossTube adventure with an accompanying blog. As much as I enjoy a blog, I for one do like the many photos and short text of Instagram. Like so many things in life, I'm happy there are options. Happy Crafting and enjoy the first WIPGO pulls! -Anna
