When they get bigger there fins are not perfect, do to other fish trying to eat them. Also they do not mention this in the video! A lot of things will attack the fins and damage them on butterfly koi. Another thing before you ask, yes even other koi will pick at their fins.

Interesting. I never knew the difference until I saw this video. You are right, if one is after aesthetics, a butterfly koi is a real option.
