Hi Steven, Tancho Kujaku for sure is a dream when you can find a great one! Who knows, maybe ever we will be able to get one ;) Thanks, stay safe as well!
Thanks so much this has been great help, please make another, we've finished a 1 acre lake and put 9 Koi in it 3 months ago , they are already 3 times the size !
@@Aboutkoi yeah super excited, you are the only one in youtube that is explaining all about koi so well, I sell kois and 90% of my knowledge is from your videos... never stop
Hey I just got new koi fish and I have a orange koi like it's very light colored looking like silver almost but orange and it's like a baby 1 growing what type of koi is that and 1 koi with silver only but a red head only the rest of the body is silver what koi do u think these are also my fav koi is the orange and white 1
Hello. I have some koi that were purchased roughly ten years ago. We thought we were buying standard "ghost koi" but as they grew it was evident two of them arent normal ghost koi and i cant find a definitive answer to what They are. Watching this video the closest match here is the "mizuho ogon" they have the same scale pattern along the top length of the fish and are scale less below this line but the big difference is, my fish are Blue. The scales are dark blue and the body is pale/sky blue upto the head when they turn almost white. Does any one have an idea what i have? Thanks
Hi there, I think it is most likely that your Koi are either "Shusui without orange/red" see ua-cam.com/video/p145sIpmTd4/v-deo.html. Or it are "Kikokuryu" without orange/yellowish colour, see ua-cam.com/video/CyD29tinclg/v-deo.html . Might that be true? Maybe they have lost their colour over time
@AboutKoi thank you very much for getting back to be. Out of the ones you have suggested, the first link is the closest to what i have, but mine have never been red sadly, one of the small ones has a single red spot on its side about the size of the end of a AA battery, other than that they are all blue, (light blue plale body which fades to white under the lateral line and dark blue zipper) so they could well be shusui that have never developed the red. Thats the best answer ive had, so thank you
Am I able to send you photos of our Koi for ID? We have two that look metallic and we are new to them. They are babies. This video is so informative. Thank you!
OK, how can you tell the base color? Some koi are said to have a white base with black and red markings and others have a black base with white and red markings. To me the base color always looks white.
When a Showa (black based Koi) is only a week old, they are entirely black. When a Sanke (white based Koi) is only a week old, they are entirely white. You can still see the base colour in the mouth a bit and on the belly. But indeed it looks like the 'base' as you explain always look white and as of the black spots have been finished on top of the white skin later on.
@@chrystlerfernandes4906Ty cause while I went on vacation and when I got back I found many baby fish in my pond and as they grew I couldn’t tell if they were koi goldfish or cross breed as most babies were grey because my two koi were both ghost koi but some babies were orange I have orange goldfish and some babies were yellow and I have yellow goldfish but some babies have to colours like white and orange
Hi there, there is no better one between the two. Doitsu simply is a Koi that does not have scales, or only a few scales on the lateral line usually. So essentially it are both carp / Koi. Only a different scalation
How do I know if I’m buying quality koi? Recommendations on where to buy? I live in Idaho. Also, what prices should I be paying for 6 inch kohaku, sanke, and Showa?
Hi there, it's difficult for me to say where to buy - I won't be doing that. But if you look into my videos, I do give a lot of advice on what kind of details you should look for, for a lot of different varieties. From the most common like Kohaku, Sanke and Showa up to more rare varieties.
Im in vietnam on and off in the year. Im.basic to medium knoladge on koi. Id like so much in part hobby and buisness to be a koi finfer and go between breeders here and in Thailand etc. Would it sufice in fibding europe koi keepers
I only have 1 Orange Ogon. It's only 3 inch in length though. I have the other one like that of number 1on the list but it's tail looks different. I'm not sure if its really a Koi. The Orange Ogon and that of like the number 1 get along together very well.
Hmm, when the tail is different, it might be a completely other fish. Or it is a so called 'Butterfly' or 'Longfin' Koi, these have longer fins and tail as the name suggests. But all the other characteristics of a Butterfly or Longfin are the same as a regular nishikigoi. Nice to hear they are doing well though!
Ginmatsua shusi hi utsuri I have 1 of the first one 2 of the second one and 1 of the last one in my 500 gallon pond along with 2 plecos and 1 dark moor goldfish all happy in my pond in eastern nc

@@Aboutkoi thank you! I messaged you on Facebook. ♥️
Igot a verry yellow 1 with netting all over him what is that and a golden 1 wich black spots anny idee anyone?
Yellow with netting might be a Ki Matsuba or a Yamabuki Ogon.
Golden with black spots, I am not very sure. Maybe a Ki Matsuba?
Which variety is parents of matsuba?
I think originally this is a combination of Magoi or Chagoi with Gin Kabuto

Can koi and goldfish cross breed?
Yes they can but there offspring will be sterile... buy you will get hybrids out of koi and goldfish.
If u still wanted to know the answer to your question, the simple answer is yes as they are the descendents of carp 😊😊
How may I can import japanese koi from a farm in japan
So I have an asagi with yellow on the sides instead or orange/red is that normal?
It is a Asagi? Asagi should have orange/red on the sides. It might be that you have a Ki Shusui, with dark/blue scales on top
@@Aboutkoi it has scales . It has dark blue scales and to the sides its yellow even on the fins . The same patterns from an asagi.
Which are better or what is the difference between scale koi and scaleless koi?
Hi there, there is no better one between the two. Doitsu simply is a Koi that does not have scales, or only a few scales on the lateral line usually. So essentially it are both carp / Koi. Only a different scalation
Great Video. Question how soon after birth can you tell the sex
It becomes easier when the Koi is about 1,5/2 years old
