-------------------------------------------------------
Hey there! We are excited to share this one with you all =) We got our hands on an pre-production copy of the LX100 II and took it for a test spin. Overall, it remains a great camera, although if you were looking for some major changes and updates, it might fall short of expectations. That being said - the camera was already amazing in 2014, why fix it if it isn't broken? Let us know your thoughts on the camera in the comments!

Finally! Someone who actually takes portraits in a camera review video instead of sitting at desk and talking for 15 minutes. Thank you. 🙏
Great review. Features, usability and real world scenarios discussed by an actual photographer who knows what she's talking about. Great job.
Grear review thank you ! I use the LX100 mark 1 to shoot video, its also the perfect pocket camera to bring anytime for great family shots when the DSLR stays home
Excellent review! You hit all the high points, use clear language, made the review interesting, and presented great sample images and video. Thank you.
Thanks so much
This is an outstanding review very detailed and well done but also entertaining and fun. I review camera gear on my channel also but I may have to step my game up after seeing how you guys shoot and edit. Respect
Thanks for the kind words! - Sara
I have the LX100 - I like the old school control dials. I don't need no touch screen. It isn't broke enough for me to upgrade. Throw it in my coat pocket or satchel and it's fine
This "kinda" is a fine review,
And it looks like a very good camera yet it is a tilt screen and 120fps 1080p away from being a perfect one,
Also wish you mentioned about the file formats, viewfinder/back lcd resolution, autofocus points in photo mode and a better transition speed test for video etc,
Still liked the video
Good sensible review as usual Sara, but so disappointing that they haven't fitted an improved viewfinder at that price.
Is it exactlly the same size of mark i model? (thinking for scuba diving in a dry box)
No tilt screen Panasonic, what were you thinking????? I was waiting for this camera for the last two years but Panasonic killed it for me...
Same think am going to gx9 lumix
Tamas Varga totally agree, I even sold my em5 m2 , but now I am very disappointed 😔. I might buy it in a few months time anyway if the price drops.....
More question marks please.
Did last year's model have a tilt screen?
best cam for youtube
Panasonic doesn’t care about the LX line or is lazy and it shows. No tilting screen, no bounce flash, no new lens, no new cool features that stand out. Mediocre updates after years of waiting. This camera does nothing to excite me or peak my interest!
Nice review of this camera, but will also Leica make a D-Lux (typ109)mkII ?
We will seeeee..... - Sara
because of lx100ii now I feel more powerfull with my old lx100.
Me too!
me too man,no reason to upgrade..
Can you (or anyone else who knows) please clarify something? In official specs, it says that the first version is 55mm thick while the second version is 64mm. But they look identical in thickness in every side by side picture. Is the LX100 II really significantly thicker than the original? Thanks. (Yes, 1cm is significant.)
Hi! Does the flash comes with it?
Being an owner of the mk1 I was keen to see how panasonic were going to improve this fabulous camera and now the Mk2 is here I feel somewhat underwhelmed and cannot see any reason to upgrade ...sorry Panasonic you just have not done enough this time
For this size/weight and price, why not get the GX9 and slap on any PL lenses for versatility
On a second thought, the fast zoom lens itself (faster than 12-35) may already make the LX100II worth its price tag.
plus it’s a Leica lens
do the update 17mp sensor effect on low light performance? in theory, it should be worse!
Not totally - low light is also handled via the processor, which in this case is 4 years newer technology. We didn't have an opportunity to use in low light but I'd think It would be improved. - Sara
Can you compare to the Canon G1X Mk3?
Canon has a bigger sensor BUT a crappy lens. Go with the sharper lens.
Decision guys:
A single D Lux(rebadged LX100 II which sure coming soon)
Or D Lux + Leica M10
Or a single Leica CL?
NETVO TV save your money and find deals on the previous version! Old dlux 109 should cut it
no tilt and 4k crop killing this cam for me...now waiting for the canon gx7 mark 3
Me too
As a still shooter, I don't find the upgrades worth the cost vs. the original LX100. Hopefully it will drive the cost of the original down, making it possible to get a great buy on the LX100.
Got mine used for 400usd
Image stabilization at all? 5 axis?
It does have stabilization - it wasn't terrible during the video actually. However it is not sensor based, and not 5-axis. I don't know the details on the stabilizer unfortunately - Sara
Does it have filter thread?
The mark 1 does so mark 2 being the same lens will, I think its 39mm or 42mm from memory
If I have these cameras would I be stupid to buy the LX100 II?
Sony A7R III
Sony RX100 VI
Fujifilm X-T20
Panasonic GX9
Wht is the name of the flash u are using?
On the LX100ii? Its the flash that comes with it...
no tilt screen? bomber, now it looks like a recycled lx100mark 1
Lx100 ii or the x100f?
better buy gx9 with pana 25 1.4 and pana 15 1.7
wait until sept 25
Waited 4 years and still no flip screen. What a crap.
4 times more powerful processor is huge difference. What u are talking about?
So no in body image stabilization?
Still no IBIS? The gx80 is still a much better choice and cheaper!
Ioannis Sinadinos damn right! Or get a gx9 for the same price, what were they thinking?
Great review... and your model (so beautiful inside and out) reminds me of Ivanka Trump...
Ok so I am still looking for a second hand GM5 , because this is a big disappointment 😔
The LX100 (original) blew the GM5 out of the water.
Great minor updates, but not for the price, back in 2014 it was great, I have one love it,, but today ... same lens, EVF is same, same flash, lack of OIS, battery life same .. 999USD nah .. (touch screen def MAJOR improvement, but still no swivel, no built in ND filter, STILL NO MIC INPUT ) The color profiles should be offered free trough software updates on all models .. etc ...
Lens is optically stabilized.
What a disappointment! 4 years in the making for this?
Sara was the real model...
Well shucks! - Sara
No IBS? Lame.
What’s her phone number? She stole my heart
What’s the point of this camera over priced point and shoot, fixed screen is so old tech buy the gx80 or gx800 at half the price and twice the versatility
The point is the combination of large sensor and fast zoom lens, which makes it appealing to experienced photographers capable of making high quality images. Very very few of these on the market.
Panasonic, useless upgrade. Copy paste to the original. Next.........
I'll come by the store and check you out instead.
lol creepy
LOL
@@precisioncamera Hey Sarah! Keep me posted on those panasonic products coming for photokina. I look forward to your hands on with them. 100th anniversary for panasonic as a company and 10th for the g series mirrorless line. I hope for big things!
