Oh mate, you're in for a treat! I hope you enjoy the rest of your 90 days here to the max. I think that's a good enough time to spend visiting the beautiful landmarks and beaches. A warm welcome to our little island home. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos! Enjoy!
I hope they can create sweet smelling cinnamon drink n food to help tourist promotion. Cinnamon in most other countries are slightly bitter and nauseating fragrant cassia.
Ah excellent Ken, seemless transition. Most of the Sri Lankans appear to speak English pretty well as a 2nd language maybe and that makes things easier for you. Really enjoyed this vlog. Looks like you are up and running mate. Noted that you have already picked up on a few words and phrases. Well done :)
When you in kandy try "hela bojun hala" these are food courts run by government, local ladies cook food on the premises. Very healthy and cheap. (only vegetarian). You can find them in most parts of the country.
Echt traumhaft . Liebe Grüße aus Oldenburg
So surprise that you can get Maggi noodles in food truck in Sri Lanka. The instant noodles is manufactured in Malaysia and it is something that we can easily cook at home, so we do not have it in food trucks in Malaysia. At 5:08, the objects flying in the sky are called kites. At 7:36, the man served you the cracker like cakes and he said vadai. It is an Indian spicy cake made from either beans or lentils and deep fried, so surprise that it is served with prawns and veggies on it. It is originally from Southern India, since the Malaysian Indian 's ancestors originally migrated from Southern India, this cake is now quite popular Malaysia, even among other communities in Malaysia. I love the cake too but we never serve it with prawns and vegies in Malaysia. I think seafood is very popular in Sri Lanka, but I don't think you need to worry since you have already overcome your fear of eating seafood. Congrats for getting your first Sri Lankan's subscriber.
Happy to see you in Sri Lanka.I have been there twice. Lovely country. beautiful places to visit and lots of exotic food to try. I'm sure you could find some similarity with Malaysian food.
If you haven't tried Milk Rice give it a try in the morning !! Love your style of videos and honest reviews 👌 As a Sri-Lankan I can agree with everything u said !
Love the video. I’d say the food in Galle Face beach is typical of the street food you’re going to see in Sri Lanka. If you want a memorable experience, check out the ministry of crab (owned by Sri Lankan cricketers) for a luxury experience to Sri Lankan cuisine. The restaurant is altered to cater for foreigners but it’s definitely worth checking out. If you want a local experience, check out pillawoos restaurants that you can find throughout Colombo. Cheese kottu is a big recommendation
Hi Ken, I am a Sri Lankan who came across your video series. Keep it up! You are doing all the right things as a tourist and I find your videos very entertaining. As some of the other commenters noted, other than the maggie noodles and milo drink (falls under the Nestle brand) are Sri Lankan street food. However, if you want to try out non-street Sri Lankan cuisine I highly recommend you try out 'Upali's by Nawaloka' restaurant, which is located in Colombo 07, and also `Nuga Gama`, which is a restaurant at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo hotel, both of which I have personally tried out. Even though I am not sure if these restaurants would fit your budget, I feel they give the best experience of what Sri Lankan cuisine is about. When travelling, Sri Lankans usually use tuk tuks, but should you be in a situation where tuk tuks cannot be found (late in the night for example), it would be better if you could download the Uber and PickMe ride-hailing apps (they have tuk tuks to small cars to large cars). If you need some guidance on what places you should visit in Sri Lanka, let me know! I'll be happy to help :)
Sri Lankan foods are a combination of several cultural influences. Indian, Arabian, Malaysian,Dutch, Portuguese, Chinese and also local. Foods in this videos are also a combibation of several cultures. You cannot say exacly which cultural foods are these. you will be able to see and taste more and more verieties of foods in the future. I would recomend you to tasete Kottu, Egg hoppers, Crab Curry, traditional srilankan rice and curry, coconut rotee with pork curry.
Ahhhh…the beach sunset is so beautiful!!💫⭐️ The tuktuk guy’s eyes when you told him to keep the change tell all. His eyes smiling brightly behind the mask. 😇💝💖🥰
You better try a lot of dishes here in srilanka. Mainly string hoppers(indiaappa), pittu, kottu, friderice, plain hoppers egg hoppers, thosa, idly white (kekulu)rice and fish curry and many more
Dear Ken, If we don't say Thank you, it won't be a sign of humanity because you are doing a great job making a video about Sri Lanka. Actually, this is like a promoting program about my motherland. So Thank you, gentleman.
