Oh I’m so glad you kept the shawl with the spin cycle colors it looks beautiful
I love production quality of your podcast. It is very special. Your knitting is beautiful. Also we are neighbors,I live in Oklahoma.
I wish I could like this video like 1,000 times. Your projects are beautiful - your channel is so thoughtful and well done - and you make me laugh so much - thank you with all my heart
Thank YOU! I appreciate you watching and commenting so very much
Always enjoy your podcasts - so many motivating projects! I read The Maid - absolutely loved it!!
Thank you! I’m looking for a new book right now. Too many to choose from
Loved all you project Kaci! You just made me add the Homestead Shawl to my must makes this year... Gorgeous! 💖Cheers from Atlantic Canada! ~ Sophie
Thank you Sophie!! I hope you love making the shawl ❤️
Love the pink and the shawl!!
Thank you 😊
Absolutely LOVE your videos!
Thank you so much!!!
Layout to hang with you for a while! Your fo’s are 👌. Looking forward to the next episode!
Thank you so much!!
New viewer! Going to binge watch older episodes ❤️ Love your hair 😀
Thank you so very much ❤️❤️❤️
Sooo so pretty knits you have here! 🤩
Thank you so very much
Love your channel. You are so kind and so welcoming. Love all your knits too. Now I need to think about what style I am…. I have lots of seeds to country western as well. Sterling silver belt buckles… as well barrettes with gold Hereford Heads. My hair is thinning so that I can no longer wear but love to look at and have some great memories of showing those animals at the County Fair. Enjoy your outdoors. My knitting is coming outdoors with me at this season. Take care.
I love it! I used to show at the fair as well! My parents still have my ribbons 🤣
I’ve already watched this twice. And I will watch it again. Love you so much.
Love you more 😘
I just love your presentation, Kaci. Thanks for a relaxing break. ❤️
There is so much I love about your channel, the music, your gorgeous projects, the thoughtful way you show your knitting process, your accent 😊 (I live in New England), the fact you and your family lovingly work a small farm AND your hair I love how you "loved" your button choice 😍. I truly enjoy watching your channel when I myself find the very precious knitting time in my life. Thank you!
Thank you so much Elizabeth that means a lot to hear!!
New subscriber here! I was right there struggling with you for the word “antagonist” when describing a book to someone yesterday 🤣 love your channel, such a beautifully done podcast.
Thank you! And it’s the worst when you can’t think of a word right?! 🤣
Dear Kaci,
You’re the best❤I Absolutely loved this episode along with every other episode you’ve recorded. You have so much charm, you’re so creative and you brighten my day every time I tune in to your channel. Thank you for sharing you with all of us!❤ For that we are very lucky in this community.
XoXo- Kayla
Awwww 🥰 thank you Kayla!!! 😘 ❤️
I also LOVE the 9 inch circulars for socks. The upside is no ladders and its fast. My fingers have arthritis but I find the mini circular, twig size needles more easy to handle than dpns
I agree!
Thanks Kaci ♥️
I absolutely enjoyed your podcast xx
Thank you Shona!
Thank you Kaci! I loved watching your knits and hearing your opinions - I agree so strongly with your opinions on the trial, and fashion! My British Aussie Mama always taught me to look for high quality, high impact pieces. That's maybe why I got so into knitting - I could make my own statement pieces!
Yes! I love a few good quality pieces 😍 and thank you so much
My life feels incomplete without the Depp/Heard trial. 🤭 I also enjoy listening to books on Audible. All of projects look amazing!
Thank you! And yes that was quite the entertainment 🥴
I've watched your podcasts from the beginning and I love how they have evolved. I rewound this one to the beginning just so I could listen to the music again. :) I'm currently watching while knitting and recovering from an illness. Your podcast makes me feel better!
Oh no I hope you feel better soon and thank you so much for your kind words
Hi Kaci…. So, I took your book recommendations from last episode… The 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn H. was interesting, strange, but I couldn’t stop listening….. and I just finished Tuesday Murder Club…I LOVED that one!!! So lighthearted and funny in parts! I’m not typically a murder mystery type girl (bit of a scaredy-cat) but I enjoyed these and was glad to listen to something a bit out of the ordinary for me!!!
Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed them!!!
Love your cardigan and, your podcast! I'm new to knitting garments and decided this year to knit a cotton raglan tee shirt for the summer. I can't wait to connect the sleeves!
That’s so exciting! I love a raglan fit ❤️
Kaci you are such a joy to watch and your projects and podcast are stunning!
Thank you so much for your kind comment!
I read The 7 1:2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle in 2020. I liked it a lot too
Thank you for your lovely podcast🌻
That you for watching!!!
Hi again from FL.
Like your beautiful plants and stand.
Hello! And Thank you!
You and your podcast are DELIGHTFUL, I look forward to visiting with you. I was raised in the military and moved about a lot so my style is much like your styles, mostly classic, thanks to my very stylish Mother. agree 100% about the ridiculous trial. Love your cowl, sweater, oh hey everything you do
Thank you so much Diana!!
Your mom's gift of Bee earrings are adorable!
I love them 😍
Fun episode! I am laughing because before you said your design style, the first thing to come to my mind for you was country/boho. I guess I was spot on. Please keep your episodes coming. You are one of my favorites. Tell Becky we miss her. 🐝🌸🐝🌺🐝
Thank you! Yes I need to get her back on!!
Your projects are very beautiful !!
Thank you so very much!
Those wooden buttons are perfect for your sweater 💕
Thank you 😊
‘My mama did not raise a quitter!’ 😂👌❤️
She did not! 🤣
You are so talented!
Thank you
I’ve never made a cardigan before they’ve always intimidated me with the constitution but I bought the iza cardigan pattern & some yarn for it so I’ll be tackling that soon it’s so gorgeous! Also I just love that you’re on a farm & have animals & raise bees that’s the dream life for me! I bet it’s so amazing, I just love your videos 🖤🖤
Ooo I hope you love it! I think a cardigan is such a great cozy piece to have when it’s all finished ❤️
Loved listening! ❤️❤️
Thank you Nanette! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Kaci for a lovely podcast 🥰 I also like to knit socks on 9” circulars I got use to them very quickly I just treat them very gently 😀
I love 9inch circ for sleeves too!!
Another absolutely gorgeous episode! I added the homestead shawl to my raverly as soon as you began talking about it! I was also really fortunate to get some Hobbii yarn sent to me recently and I got a color shifting wool and acrylic blend that I think will be perfect for a shawl!
Ooo that’s awesome! I love shawls! They are my favorite thing to make ❤️ do you have one picked out already
@@YoungfolkKnits I'm excited! I've only done the mini Laulu shawl by Sari Nordlund before, but I think it will be really handy to keep something at my desk for the winter months to wrap up in. I'm thinking of the Boneyard Shawl which is a free pattern from Stephen West that has similar garter and stockinette features to the Homestead but without the braid and eyelets.
Cardigan and buttons are gorgeous!!
Thank you! ❤️
Dear Kaci..I am following your podcast at the beginning, and your video quality came on a high level to me. It is so beautiful to see all your work packed in this nice frame of video art..I enjoy it, it makes me love my own handknittings such a bit more. It is so calm and beautiful and I am looking forward to your future projects, outdoor pictures, handlettering and great music choices for your stunning knitting projects. You see, I love it! Yours..Nana from Germany
Thank you so very much watching, Nana! And your sweet letter/comment/reply ❤️
@@YoungfolkKnits and by the way..yes, we prefer quality more than quantiy, but brands like Primark change our kids opinion, that more is more :(
Love your videos, I’ve been eyeing the Cascade “spin cycle” as well I just haven’t de used on a project for it yet. 😀
I would love to try it soon!
Thanks Kaci 🥰
Thank you for watching!
i love your inclinations cowl, and im glad you didn't rip it out!
I’m really loving it now!
I loved this podcast. I’m going to try Cascade 220 on my inclinations cowl, thx for the suggestion. Your cowl has turned out beautifully. I think my style is relaxed. Summer is all about linen, winter is about loose, warm, wooly sweaters. I loved The Maid. Have you read The Perfect Sister? Another good one. It’s 106 in Austin today so I’d better go get a big glass of iced tea.❤️
I’d love to hear what you think about it if you use it! It’s also sweltering here! Heat index of 114°
New subscriber! Loved your episode!! For your 8.5 foot sock - I knit to 1.75” shorter than that (to 6.75”), then I do the toe! I do this with every pair I knit for whatever size :) good luck!
That’s brilliant thank you!
Anna of the Anna Knitter podcast has a chart that will help you with sock sizes. ☺️
Perfect!
Summer lee knits has a basic sock pattern, it’s free I believe, and she has details how long to knit the foot before you start the toe for different sizes!
I’m definitely getting that! Thank you!
Cascade heritage wave (vs superwash wave) is a lighter weight fingering yarn with the same colour shifting.
I just saw that! I will definitely need to check it out. Have you used it?
@@YoungfolkKnits yep! I made my inclinations cowl from that (plume) and a Zauberball crazy (submarine)
@@slkendall85 oo that’s awesome is it on Instagram
Kaci another great episode to knit along to - thanks. I love that you seem to be having a lot of fun (creatively) with it. I listened to the audio of The Man Who Died Twice and I cannot rate it highly enough. The English actress Lesley Manville who reads, does a superb job. She does Bogdan so well, I hope there's a lot more of him in the next book. Clever stylish women do seem to give that same great advice 😉. Hope the chicks are doing well???
@@YoungfolkKnits haha, yeah. My zero followers just knitting account is hellosamkknits
I feel like I remember you mentioning on an early episode that you homeschool your kids. If not, please ignore. Anyway, I also homeschool and would love to hear more about your approach: the curriculum you use (or ones you've liked), your daily rhythm, what you like about homeschool and what is a challenge, etc, etc.
I do! Yes I will try to include that in an episode!
I knit 2 at a time on 9 inch circulars… just the way you said… I use magic loop for the heel ( German short row) and then when the toe gets too small
I need to start trying this
I got the Chiagoo shorties for the same reason - i don't ENJOY all the fiddling with magic loop. best decision ever! sleeve island is totally eradicated for me thanks to these tiny circulars
It’s so much faster!
Hello from St. Louis Missouri. I knit both of my socks at the same time I have two nine inch circular needles in size 1, if you need to knit a sock to fit a size 8 foot you knit the foot to six inches then start the toe decreases and you should get the right size.
Hello Janet!
Hi I'm really enjoying your podcasts! I love suggestions so I really appreciate those segments and love your knitting. Are you familiar with the online yarn store Webs? I've been buying from them for years. If you spend $65 you get 20% off your entire order (and how fast can you put $65 of yarn in the cart, right?). Then there is a 25% off if you hit another total price. This is for full price yarn and not discounted yarn that they have in their huge discount warehouse. I used to live fairly close by and it's a dream of a store. Both of the yarn subs for spincycle are sold there. They have just about all of the main yarn companies and a few hand dyed companies. Take good care!
Hi - you should check out Summer Lee’s free vanilla sock pattern. It’s got all the measurements for different shoe sizes 🥰
That’s brilliant thank you!
I really wanted to make a Shifty but the Spincycle yarn was wayyyy out of my budget, a couple of weeks ago I also realised the Zauerballs might be a good substitute and I’m excited to look into that option...once I get a few WIPs finished 🤣
I love the filming in your podcast by the way, you are very arty x
If you use them let me know what you think!!!
@@YoungfolkKnits will do ❤️
Arkansas headed to baseball World Series…good luck
Razorback Nation!
Love the Iza cardigan and was wondering if you think putting a lace panel on the back would work. Just to keep it a little more interesting and add a pretty design feature?
For a shoe size 8 1/2 after you turn the heel, knit for 8”, before beginning the toe decreases! “The Sock Knitter’s Handbook” is my “bible” for sock knitting!
I don't do 9" but I do tandem knit socks for complicated patterns especially. I use magic loop and usually do the leg of both, then do both heel turns, then the feet. If there are charts, I switch it up by chart repeats. But, I tried 9" circulars and my hands hated it. I guess I knit in such a way that I like to stab in with my right hand, lol and can't get that angle with the tiny needles. I like 5" long tips pretty much always.
They are pretty hard on hands! I guess magic loop is much easier on the fingers!
@@YoungfolkKnits I've got a family history of arthritis in the hands so I'm trying to be nice to mine as long as possible. 🙏🤞🤞 I'd like to still knit when I'm 60 or 80.
Kaci, your music selection is awesome! Do you have a playlist to share?
I love that you refused to tell how big your stash is. I enjoyed hearing about what you were reading. How you read or heard of the Flavia de Luce mystery series by Alan Bradley? The first one is called The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. It's a really fun series.
I havevt but I’m going to put it on my list!
I’m glad that you got the spin cycle to work!! It’s a little too neutral for me but it’s beautiful. I can’t wait to see how you Jessie Maed comes out! I bought the same pattern last week and the fingering weight is giving me hives thinking about it. Anyone knitting with anything smaller than US 4 on garments other than socks are true heroes. Topic question!! I want to learn to do color work but so scared! Any recommendations for a pattern for a beginner in color work? I also have no idea how to read charts. 😅😅
Those are great topics! Thank you! I am holding my fingering weight with a lace weight suri so at least that will thicken mine up a bit. I’m not a fan of knitting fingering weight sweaters. It just takes me forever hahaha
@@YoungfolkKnits yeah I had never knit on anything smaller than size US 7 a couple years ago so I was in shock how long things take to knit on a 4. And haven’t tried anything smaller except socks since. No. Way. Glad I could be of help! I’m really looking forward to any of your recommendations you always choose interesting and beautiful designs!
I love your inclinations shawl! I am planning to make one but I am wondering if you can mix non-superwash wool and superwash wool in one project?
I would think so! As much I hate to say it you might should knit up a swatch and see what you think of the two yarns together.
Melody is from Brittany, France 🤗🙂
Thank you!
Google has brought up a handy dandy chart for US shoe sizes compared to average length. I've used it for my cousin, who wears a size 8. For her I knit about 6" of foot before I hit a 2" toe. And 6.5" inches if it's a 1.5" toe.
That’s perfect!! Thank you
I would love to hear your thoughts and findings on preventing dementia. My sweet mother has it - she’s so young - the type isn’t supposed to be hereditary but I want to do everything I can to prevent…it’s horrible and so very sad for the family 😭❤️
I’m so sorry to hear that!! I watched this yesterday and it’s nothing revolutionary but I completely agree that keeping inflammation levels low and low insulin states are very important. ua-cam.com/video/f0WCb23KPEw/v-deo.html
Greeting Kaci from Bondi (Sydney) Australia. I love your podcasts and have just purchased the Iza cardigan as it looks perfect for me too 💗Im new to podcasting, I'm Barbara Radzevicius Bondi Crafter . Could you tell me about the beautiful music you use in this episode please. Id love to have a similar music vib, its lovely. Thanks 🧶🧶🇦🇺
50:46 Amen because I'm a lady 😂
Hahahahhaha
I’m a 8 and I knit 50 foot rows and then start the toe.
Thank you so much!!
haven't encountered a braid stitch -- will check it out. wish you lived in NJ not Arkansas!!
Is it as hot in NJ as it is here right now?! It’s sweltering this week
@@YoungfolkKnits absolutely horrid - try not to go out as much as possible🥵
Hi Casey! What about trying to seaming under the arms ?
That’s a great idea! I will think about this!
Can’t find any links.
If you look next to the name “youngfolk knits podcast no. 19” either below the video or beside it depending on the type of device you are watching it on - there is a little down arrow or chevron and if you tap that the description will come up. This has all the links!
Thank you. I found them.
I LOOOVE your knitting. I LOOOVE your home and farm life and bright sunny personality and sun filled room.
I only wish your likely gorgeous wooden floors didn’t sound like nails on a chalkboard to me. 😭
This is not meant to be a criticism of your podcast I’m only mentioning it because surly there are other viewers with the same obstacle and perhaps you have an potential remedy. 😬🤷🏻♀️♥️
I’m so sorry! I’ve tried using a towel but I think it’s just this chair. I’m going to have to try using a different one. I do apologize!!
I agree, no one won that trial.
They both looked crazy 😝
For a size 8 1/2 shoe, knit for 8” after turning the heel! “The Sock Knitter’s Handbook” is my “bible” for sock knitting!
Perfect! Thank you
