I immediately distrust any company that requires you to blur out literally every other company logo that appears in your video. Surprised they didn't tell you to blur out the logos on your woodworking tools.
I’m not too sure if it’s that or if they do it because they didn’t get money from them being in videos… in my opinion, it’s my tools I can do what want with them, so I’ll blur you out since I’m getting so many views

Blurs the titebind bottle. Not like it’s the most used type of wood glue on the planet and has a very unique label.

Seriously, John, you’re a _successful_ UA-camr, with a business and shop and everything, not a struggling one trying to start off. When a company wants to sponsor your content, you’re in a position to demand they pay you to make _your_ content, not theirs.

it's called greed. Pretty sure they paid him a ton of money. I personally think he has reached a subscriber size where he doesn't care anymore what his audience think or wants.
You can tell that Sleep Number had major control issues on this video. It was too much. Turned me off of wanting to buy a sleep number. Also the blurring out other company names doesn’t fool anyone and is just annoying. Sleep Number needs to give their heads a shake.
My wife and I are having so much fun trying to name all the blurred brands, we completely missed what the video is about, lol
Feels like that bed company covered this man's entire pension fund. Beautiful room redeocoration, unfortunate that half of the vid is a guy describing how good of a sleep he had.
Can't be mad at the man for getting paid and feeding his family! But this was tough to watch. It's like a 10 minute commercial minus the John charisma we usually get.

Personally, I hope the trend of meme videos and infomercials doesn't continue, but if that's what gets viewed and gets him paid, I can't really blame him.

Totally agree! I love John's personality and craft, and don't mind the sponsors on his video's generally, but this was a customer testimonial for a completely unrelated product to his wood working with about 3 mins of crafting bookending it. It's great he could get a free sleep number bed for his family (I just bought one myself and wish I could have gotten it for free) but do it as a separate testimonial video if that's what you need to do, don't sell out to all of us.

I have mad respect for your videos and love how entertaining you typically are.....With that being said.....I don't think I've ever skipped through your videos before. After hearing about the bed the first 4 times, I was over it. Room turned out nice, but I think I'll be skipping the sponsored vids.

Considering the comments and how distracting the blurring was, I think it's backfired as I kept trying to work out what each of the blurred brands was, only drawing my attention to them more.
I couldn't stop staring at the orange one trying to figure out what it said.

The blurring is too much. Sorry John but it’s way too distracting and takes away from what your brand is about in my opinion. If this is what you have to do to satisfy a sponsor, then it’s a hard “no” from me.
Love your channel but it’s too much. Not going to kill my subscription but you gotta negotiate harder with these deals.

One of my favorite channels but bummed I just watched a sleep number commercial and missed what was probably a pretty cool bedroom furniture build.

Lots of things were blurred out: Winchester, Timberland Pro signs and t-shirt, Waterlox oil, Titebond glue, Black Rifle Coffee Co, the Dewalt driver, and the Milwaukee chop saw. I'm sure I missed a few others.

Dear editor, if you used a blur mask or rotoscoping to set the blur, you can duplicate the scene and use another part of the shirt/hoodie over the blurred parts. That will make those blurred logos look more natural. You do a great job, thank you for making these videos the best they can be with the footage.

He does this every video and I have no idea why - 20 minutes of build up and then 5 seconds of close up quick cuts where I have to try and pause it to see even part of the finished item. I can't fathom the logic.
Just linger on it for 20-30 seconds and give me a wide shot too

@@michaelwillson6847 honestly for me they got reverse effect than they hoped for - they wanted their product to be the only focus but it just made me look for all the blurred logos and guess what they are :D
I was wondering the same thing…..but my thought was that UA-cam was doing it…like an automatic thing during the upload using an algorithm….because one of the biggest things that was blurred out was the flag with the AR on it. 🤔
@@onehappydawg not sure a thought would be because of the paid sponsorship deal he got with it and they've said there the only brand allowed be in the video. A no from other creators that have talked about stuff like it some don't want other companies in a video sponsored by the company but some don't mind.
@onehappydawg that's the black rifle coffee company banner. It's never blurred out in any other video just this one. Also the main thing that was blurred from the get go was Timbaland pro logo including on his first shirt
Could you talk a little more about that fancy sleep number bed there John? In all honesty it was a cool build and looks awesome but would have really appreciated more of the video being about the build rather then the bed.

I love watching your videos as its always interesting to see the building process, the fact that you show when mistakes are made, and that there's always some fun in the videos. I feel that this video however is just an over exaggerated ad. Unfortunately I had to mute it several times because i didn't want to hear about sleep number. I feel like you sort of sold yourself out for this video as you blurred out a lot that you normally wouldn't blur out. I mean i understand that there's reasons behind everything but this video seems like a facade to appease a sponsor and not like something you would normally do. Normally you guys have more fun with the video and there's always some type of shenanigans going on, which makes the video more vibrant and fun for the viewers to watch. Sorry for being critical as i really do like watching your videos and i hope to continue watching them as for the most part you're a lovable goofball that has quirky ideas that come out great. I hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy your new bed.
As a fellow larger than normal guy with a sleep number bed I hope yours work better for you than mine does for me. I always feel like I'm sloping downhill because 300 pounds makes all the air shoot towards my feet. I wish they had asked a boat mechanic that worked on Zodiacs, like I did in the Marines, about baffles before they made their air bed. My wife loves our new one, close to like what you have, and I miss our old one but the old one was lost in a house fire about 4 years ago. Our daughter loves the zero G setting to play on the bed.
This video is like a new game called guess the blurred out logo. I got Festool, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Black Riffle Coffee, Timberland Pro, and my dark horse Charmin toilet paper!

I thought exactly the same thing. Forcing you to remove logos of brands that is not in the same market sector to is idiotic and bad marketing tactic.
I've been waiting for a woodworking video for awhile now instead of the "life hack" videos on why you can't live without straws and rubber bands in your workshop. I got excited when I saw the thumbnail, then I ran into a 17 ½ minute commercial. I'll keep checking in now and then, but I think I'll spend most of my online time elsewhere.
I understand the why, but a company forcing your hand and having to censor items doesn’t make it worth going through the trouble.
Bedroom looks gorgeous, well done! I would love to have longer/more glamour shots at the end of your projects, they are all so cool but I'm barely allowed to see them finished :D
Great build John! Its been said plenty but I'll just add it in again because I think its pretty important. We get it, Sponsors help immensely and I hope you got paid well for this spot but I reckon the Bed Talk vs Build Talk was almost equal. Glad you're getting a good night sleep though, especially with those kids you need it 😅
Also if sleep number is paying attention and they are the ones that stipulated this amount of coverage for the video, you guys are doing yourself a disservice. The bed actually looks pretty cool, but I didnt need to hear about it 5 times to think about it next time im buying a bed. Now I will think about how you ruined this video about John building a sick as bedroom.

Probably the most annoying video from this channel. The over the top sponsorship and the blurring of everything (probably as a result of the sponsor). Just seemed really fake.

Would have loved to see how the bed structure functioned with the sleepnumber base. I have a sleep number and have been thinking about building a headboard and bed frame, but it'd be nice to see how it actually went together for you.
Sleep number is the bomb I tried out the in store display that senses your tension and adjusts to comfort your body and almost fell asleep in the store with the salesman talking to me. Wish I could afford one and one for my dog for that matter.

We have the same bed. It’s a necessity for us because Alyssa sleeps like a dang pretzel with her head and legs elevated while sleeping on her side😳 I have to have my head just slightly elevated so I can breathe, so having the split in the middle is nice.
Make sure to get a good warranty with the bed, I'm a technician who fixes these exact bed bases and most of them have issues within 3-6 months. Really love the build though!
This video was like 1 long advert. Blurring the logos brought even more attention to them.

I never want to comment negatively, but I'll offer it as constructive feedback. I'm glad Sleep Number is working so well for you and gave you a free/discounted mattress. I'm sad they had you blur out all other brands as a result. It did absolutely no good for me, and actually makes me want to seek elsewhere in the market when we buy a new mattress. They're apparently an insecure girlfriend/boyfriend who can't stand attention on anyone else but themselves.
I also just want to see the build video and wish you'd focused more on that, and yet I understand why you had to blast so much info at us. I'll still keep tuning in for now, unless all the videos go this direction.

I love the fact that his number went down at the end of the video to 89 when he was boasting a 96 earlier in the video. Come on...... Everyone knows that these biased ad reads are not products ever used by the UA-camrs before. I am glad youre getting paid John, you are a fun guy and i think loads of us can relate to you because you just have a go. Yes, you now have belt sanders and cnc machines but you always just get stuck in and it is inspiring to see.

The Timberland Pro sign caught my eye first, then noticed the Black Rifle Coffee flag….he did a project for them! Like all the other comments. This was one long commercial and the blurring was super distracting. Hopefully the team reads the comments and adjust for it. Remember, you are directly hurting your target audience by removing the brands that are known and trusted. I find it ironic that you have to blur timberland pro - but in your video description, you mention being proudly supported by timberland pro. I'm sure thats not there idea of proudly supporting the channel.

Wicked video john looks amazing. 2 thoughts. You need do some kinda pendulum swimg art like the ping pong table as art for your bedroom or maybe even dining table like it. And 2 get more video's saw milling oh and smoking hogs. Or shop chef!!👍🏴
Where did you put the air tank and all the hoses and stuff. I have a sleep number and have been wanting to build a custom frame but that has always tripped me up.

I usually love watching your videos and hear you explain your woodworking techniques. However, in this video I learned more about sleep number than woodworking. Hopefully this trend does not continue because I really enjoy your past content.

About sleeping, I had disposition and mood issues for decades... It was really difficult, mostly during college. I always thought it was because of my depression, which I live with since 1992, but since I started to taking a sleeping pill (and I'm not making recommendations, it was a doctor who recommended it to me)... Well, I even started to cook! And something different every day! Which is something I could never dream about! The worst part is that I'm liking it! 😂

hi john i love your work, you and the guys with do fabulous stuff. I just wondering with all that you do could you make a wheelchair for someone that love doing wood work that can go up and down for the Different high tools from table saw to wood turning lathe to making river coffee tables and so on. I think that wood be a good challenge for you as i never seen anyone do something like this to help someone in a wheelchair that wants to work with wood and resin. hope you see my comment, thanks for all your videos and the wonderful things you do from your Irish Dublin fan Irene. keep up the good work.

I'm trying to plan out tools for getting into woodworking, everything else is going to have to be cheapest of the cheap but for a sander. I need a low vibration one, ideally a cheap one but I think I'll need to save for a few more months/year to get a suitable one. Any recommendations?
