Those are beginner tools at best. There's no reason for him to ever touch those again, but this video and the information in it could be very helpful for someone looking to get into woodworking on a limited budget.
If you had good reliable tools that cost 2 to 4 times more, there's no reason you would keep using the other ones. The point is that these are 'potential' cheaper entry points for the same type of tools

With battery-powered drills in the Chinese market they will have their own name and their own battery standard but, most will use makita - bosch - dewalt batteries.
I'm from southeast Asia, and professional workers in the countryside always like to use a brand like dekton because it has a German standard but is made in China.
Most of the time the colors show compatibility brand, those Makita, yellow for dewall, orange for B&D red, ect....

Interesting, from next year all battery operated power tools sold in Europe must have a universal standard battery that will fit all off the shelf power tools, adaptors are already available but are cheap and nasty and weaken the power tool.
Only problem is Temu tools are cheaper but your pvt data and bank info they steal is priceless.
I would also state as a secondary problem (only secondary in that it doesn't directly impact the person ordering) is all the IP they've stolen, or reverse engineered, to make these cheap prices possible. It will eventually affect us all when actual innovators stop innovating because Amazon and Temu have made it unfeasible to invent and bring to market new exciting products.

Most the lost IP is stuff that you already can buy off the shelf as the factories that run Brand name stuff simply overproduce to then brand it as something else and sell as a cheap "knockoff". depends on the user. If you really only use it 3 times a year, the endurance doesn't matter a lot and the more expensive tools are clearly wasted money.
It may be dubious to buy at Temu, but no name brands from the box stores or whatever will be pretty good enough for the low usage cases.

yup I can vouch for this, i ordered a set of metal drill bits, the Chinesium ones lasted about two holes drilling into 10mm mild steel plate before they went blunt whist my cheapo cobalt bit's last around 10 holes before becoming blunt.

@@robertmceuen3630 indeed they are HOWEVER those brand tools are then quality tested by those specific companies to make sure they're compliant to standards world wide & is up to their brand standards, a drill that burns out in a day would tarnish there reputation with that customer meaning they'll never buy from them again & because of our consumer laws this would warrant a refund.
the reason they're so cheap is because they don't do the R&D they steal it from other companies, do QC & finally give you your money back(also because of slave labor but that's a different issue).

Try using a makita battery in the javn brand stuff. It’s worked for me before with a single hand battery chain saw and the makita battery in it made it much better to use and it didn’t cut out like the cheap battery does in it.
Don't forget their reputation as a company is currently in the toilet, and covered under a mountain of the brown stuff.

As a professional carpenter, for individuals who are just starting out or seeking budget-friendly tools, I recommend the following:
Buy used Milwaukee M12 Brushless tools along with new M12 Batteries. M12 batteries typically cost about half as much as the M18 ones, while offering the same capacity. I always recommend buying new batteries though. Buying those used is not worth the risk. I bought an almost new but used Fuel 1/4 impact driver for $70 and a 2 pack Red Lithium 2.0 battery set for $50.The impact can switch between drill mode and impact eliminating the need to purchase two tools. Once you are looking to level up, move on to the M18 series. For anything that requires lots of drilling power buy either a Makita or a Milwaukee corded drill for $115 and $90 respectively. They have plenty of power and should last you a long time. My Makita corded drill served me about 15 years.
There was a different woodworker who did a review on Temu tools, and he pointed out that they had direct copies of many of his other big American name tools. He pointed out how much damage that does to domestic brands when foreign (China) brands rip them off. Temu isn’t spending any money on research and development. The only R&D they do is using old big name tooling in their brand's factories.
I kind of blame it on these domestic brands to some extent. It's no secret that Chinese factories will copy your product if you have it manufactured there. Once the tooling and everything is created and they start production, they've got what they need to rip you off.
Yet these companies continue using them, because Chinese manufacturing is cheap and they want that big profit margin. So I have a hard time feeling too sorry for them, because they basically made a deal with the devil.
China is already making the American named tools.

The company I used to work for used Makita on the production line. Those things would put in 4000 bolts daily. I think I saw 3 that had to be trashed.
And every homeworker need Makita to use it one time every few months? It'a like comparing a small Toyota with a RollsRoys. With both cars you come from a to b but with differend kind of comfort and power.
I have one of those green-and-yellow drill stands. It works okay for somebody who lives in a small apartment and doesn't have space for a real drill press.
I got the router table plate well not that exact one but close enough and its actually pretty good. I used it in building a small router table and it was more solid that I thought it would be. The only complaint would be that it came with some plastic circles to be used with smaller bits, but they are so lightweight that the air from the router literally blows it away. I did also get a router lift to go along with it, it seemed to work at first but the screw that rises and lowers is just too loose and under load the vibrations cause it to lower on you. I'm going to try and see if I can find a way to correct that.
When ordering from TEMU just be careful and try to get as much info as possible, reading reviews help. I've mostly had good luck with things I got through them, there have been a few misses.
This video makes me queasy. Was hoping it would be an unbiased review like the other pallet grabs but I had to stop half way through when it became clear it would just be an ad for Temu. All this hype for cheap tools that are clearly ripping off designs from woodworking tools makers isn't cool, same with repeatedly taking digs at Rockler prices as if they were selling comparable quality tools. Rockler, and the other companies being put down in this advertisement, have been part of the woodworking community for decades and offer so much more than just cheap tools.
As an experienced woodworker I'd argue that it's terrible for beginners to stock their shop with dodgey knock-off tools from an importer like Temu. It will make the craft frustrating and confusing to learn when the tools they rely on don't work properly and fall apart on them. Not to mention safety issues with this junk that new woodworkers might won't have the experience to recognize before an accident.

Would love to see an endurance test. How many screws can you drive on a full battery? How much down time between battery charges? How long before tool malfunction? It’s fine to pay half price for a tool, but if you have to buy three, might as well go for the better brand.
Harbor freight is cheaper at like $42 and I use it everyday at work mostly for air filter boxes and it only needs charged twice a month at most. I got two batteries for that price and it appears that they take less then 1 hour to charge but sense i have two batteries I havnt paid close attention lol

lol, i live in china and i have some of that stuff. the router bit sets, the pocket hole jig, the corner squares, the rulers, (not the power tools, i buy makita for power tools) and i paid 2 to 4 times LESS for that stuff here. and i dont mean similar, i mean i have the exact same ones. When i go home to see family in america i am always amazed by home much more things costi n america.
18:45 with lithium batteries, there is no power output difference between fully charged and almost depleted. They run exactly the same until they completely cut off. It's one of the best advantages to lithium over the old ni-cad batteries.
On the heimerdinger products it's says it compatible with mikita batteries.

Recently spent $48 US for measuring tools. Only two came with Imperial gradations, rest were metric markings ad not accurate within 2 mm. Did get a free mini-drone that has been a great indoor toy. The woodworking squares and setup blocks are the only ones I am able to use.
I got the same contour gauge from Germany, build in the 70s (only a few companies made them there back then )
The day i buy anything off Temu. Is the day the sun explodes.
Certain things are worth the extra investment even when you're starting out, and personally, I would consider power tools and anything I need to be an accurate angle or straight edge to be in that category.
Better to spend more on known reputable brands. Quality doesn't cost, it pays

Those $50 stick welders work great in a pinch. I wouldn't use it to fabricate anything, but for a quick repair its wonderful. Perfect for the neighbor collection. Some even have TIG capabilities (Lift TIG)
"It can gut through space grade aluminum." A pair 1 dollar scissors can cut through that. That stuff is soft.
how accurate are the rulers is the question also and how square are the corner clamps?
How accurate to either need to be for the VERY occasional DIY types?
If you only use your tools for one or two moves per decade, maybe 3 repairs per year and once that Dogshed in the yard, do you need tools for 2890 bucks or is the cheap out collection at 175 bucks for the 3 core pieces enough?

Well, as long as the rulers are consistent it is accurate.
I mean it doesn't matter in what unit you measure, it could be 1.1inch, as long as every marking is at the same distance from the others you'll be ok.
One can use a twig to measure. In that case your cabinet will be 2twigs wide and 3 twigs high for example.
It is only a problem if you work with established measurements, like drawings etc. for all the rest relative measurements are better anyway.
Are you guys using philipshead screws? Switch to torx and you'll have much more grip.
I had that same craftsman set! I was a traveling tech at the time so it was awesome. Lost the drill base off my trailer and was so sad lol. I still have the accessories and another busted drill base.
If you are a DIY enthusiast, I'd recommend the Einhell tool range. They have a 3 year warranty extension and 10 year service guarantee for the brushless motor in ALL brushless tools. Unlike the other DIY type tools, they also sell all the spare parts.... and I mean LITERALLY EVERYTHING!! The big brands don't even do that for the majority of their tools. In 5 years of using their tools, I've only had 1 battery die and 1 charger, and I use them a LOT. They are also compatible with a load of the other cheap DIY brands
Einhell are super good, especially their cordless drills, and I've heard good things about their cordless grinders
The only big letdown I've ever had from them was a cordless impact wrench, they're just not powerful enough for the majority of applications.
Biggest question is how long will those tools last. Usually things are good when they're new but doubt that cheap tools can stand same abuse like well known brands. Would be interesting to look inside and check quality of components, wires, soldering etc...

Which most people won't do. If you only have your tools for some repairs, maybe the few things during a move that need tools and one project you absolutely wanted to do yourself like a gardenshed or doghouse, why pay good money for professional tools if you never will drive those to the limit anyway?

for the price of these I'm spending 20% more for hercules tools from HF. They have great warranties on tools and batteries and the most simple returns. Can't beat that in the "budget" tools world.

I paid AU$12 for the router table and routed it into a bigger deck, it works well and is all heavy aluminium. I did have to drill mounting holes for my old Ozito router.
I used to think there was nothing that could be wrong with a basic ruler. Until I ended up building a project with all kinds of funky misalignments...and eventually tracked it to the ruler markings were like 1/32nd inch misaligned so every time you happened to flip which end you were using introduced another 1/16 inch error to your measurement. If making multiple cuts the error could compound.
Running a paid ad for a company that sells cheap versions of items they only have due to copyright infringement, and Chinese loose labor conditions is not a good look.
I'm actually interested in buying the Heimerdinger nailer, for the amount of times I would use the thing, I am okay with it being clunky...
However for the life of me, i cannot find it at 80usd... If anybody has a link for it, I would greatly appreciate it!

My beginners tip is to find your self excellent cordless drill. Then based on that get your self tools you need most from that brand and clone tools that use same battery system for those that you least use and corded version on the tools you least use or dont need to move. You can also 3d print or buy adapters to mod your cheap tools (those with in same voltage) to your better batteries you chose. That way you get into tooling with best price to quality ratio. Still while corded is supposedly obsolete, you dont have batteries dying and in general those are kinda cheaper in most cases, so i would highly suggest getting those, specially on some yard sales etc cheaply. Only thing you really need that is good is the cordless drill, since you can screw screws, drill and even poverty lathe with with it.
I just got a DeWalt 20v max drill and impact set with 2 batteries, charger and a case of bits for 139$ with a bag of course.

I got a bunch of abuse when I posted a video of temu stuff. It's good to see some of the big guys getting into it too. For me it was useful to get cheap blades on jigsaws and multitool. The things that you expect to get beat up and not last etc.

I read a review of a two-bit, made in China Harbor Freight roofers triangle thingy. Had the angles marked right on it. The guy who bought it used it to erect an entire roof, and when you got to the end nothing was lining up. Finds out that those doggone Chinese had etched the wrong angle markings on to it. Is it worth saving a couple bucks?
Ridgid often has a combo Drill and an Impact Driver for $99 and regularly priced at $159, so no reason to go Temu on those items (if you need both).
Also you really gotta factor in batteries to power tool cost, they are the major cost in them, often more then the tool.
The biggest reason I would spend the extra for the Woodpeckers pocket ruler over the Temu is because it is made in the USA by an American company. I will not support any of the Temu, Wish, or Ali Express type markets.

if you are on a budget best off getting a half ok, compressor and running air tools there usually a lot cheaper and even the stuff that's only 20$ works well
I've bought several tools and hardware off Temu and have found them to be the equal of items from Amazon at 2 or 3 times the price.

A method you could use to have a nearly consistent resistance over time that you could use drills and other power tools on so that you can test them with varying loads:
A worm drive. Can load the wheel with X lbs to make Y resistance. That way you can attach the drill or other tool to the screw so that you can see how high the drill will lift X weight over Z time
I had the exact same issue with the screw holder. My impact but was too skinny in the middle

I bought that exact same sharpening stone like 6 years ago off amazon. It kinda works but is junk compared to my proper japanese sharpening stones I have now. They are ok to use when learning how to sharpen knives etc using junk knives you dont care about
Drill attachments were a big thing in the 70:s and 80:s. Tools with their own motors were too expensive for most hobbyists so brands like Black&Decker had huge selection of electric drill powered tools and attachments. You could have a whole shop powered by the single electric drill. Of course they were not that effective and switching the drill from one tool to another was a pain but the other alternative was all hand tools.
I’ve ordered a Ton of woodworking tools from Temu. Many of them are perfectly fine some of are Junk. As John said “For that price I can’t knock it” I agree. I'm a hobbyist woodworker who cant afford to be a hobbyist woodworker, who is also new to the hobby. I have bought a bunch of smalls from them, corner clamps, measuring tools, files/rasps, ect. For the most part all of it is more then adequate for me, everything that should be square has been square and so on. The files are not that great but they do the job, the rasps are great. The spoke shave and the other few tools with blades that I got work fine. All and all I'm happy with the stuff and everything I have made has been square and true. All the xmas gifts I made were loved and well received as well.
my big problem with it is that they steal other companies intellectual property and ignore patents, copyright and trademarks. They even completely steal the imagery and packaging so it looks almost identical. They also ignore a lot of safety standards with some of these products

The only problem I have ever had with Temu is their Baofeng radio products or should I say their defective Baofeng radio products, I bought two pairs of Baofeng 888s two way radios but was sent the inferior 888e radios, I also bought a Baofeng UV5R radio that was missing the FM reception, Temu seem to be a dumping ground for defective Baofeng products. I now buy all my radios from Ebay or Banggood and have had no problems with them for the same price or cheaper.

For a “patriot” with 15 American flags in his shop he doesn’t seem to understand how Temu works. Temu is able to ship this crap so cheaply because of the universal postal union which is supposed to subsidize postage from developing countries. China is somehow still considered a developing country so American taxpayers are actually subsidizing this companies shipping at the expense of US companies. At least if you order from Amazon the money is going to an American company and the taxes are support stay in America. You are supporting the CCP when you order from Temu, directly. It is sad either way how little research you’ve done or how hypocritical you are.

Billion dollar parent company taking huge loses to undercut our market. They also pay no import taxes on each shipment when shipment is kept 800$ per package. Our nation has lost billions on import duties thanks to this loop hol. Hate this company but we know what they are doing.

Nothing I have ordered from TEMU came by boat nor did it take months to get here.......
Everything was by plane and only took at the longest a week and a half to get here.......
And I order from TEMU every other week. Which my previous order always arrives before the next one........
As a matter of fact I just made an order yesterday and today it's already at the airport to fly over to America.......
The longest part of the order is it usually takes 2 to 4 days to clear customs and be picked up by FedEx or UPS.........
