Excellent job! My family had a yellow bug when I was a kid, reminds me of that one. I have the Hi Ho Silver version of this casting that I'm going to restore. Was one of my favorites as a kid!
A huge improvement! Great job on sanding those casting lines. I believe there is always room for improvement. Oh crap, I used that twice! LOL. The color really pops and the tires look great. 👍
Top job mate it looks great. The yellow actually goes really well with the purple screen, much better than the red did. From the inside those windows look like oldschool tinted windows. A good set of needle files is the best thing for tidying up most casting flaws etc.
I know these air cooled VWs get hot, but that air intake is insane. Big fan of classic VWs. The rear wheels go well with the hotrod styling, and the yelllow is a brilliant colour, enamel paint always looks like glass when its put on properly. Look forward to the next one.
Great job on the car... Yes, it boggles the mind that it's ALMOST 50 years old... That's the year I was born... LOL... Thanks for the reminder... LOL Still a great job on the car... Love the color and the tires...
I had one of these. When I was a teenager I took the engine out of the back and built it up with body filler to make a van. Then I put a nose on it so it looked like a Ford Pop. Painted black with flames on the front. It looked really good. No idea where it went though! I think my nephews ended up with it along with a few other cars.
Great job Rob! The yellow really suits the car. I remember owning one of these as a kid, there must have been a bit of variation in these between 71 and the late 70's as mine had a dark blue windscreen rather than the purple on this one.
Lol , lol lol guffaw ,guffaw, chuckle , chuckle, hand on belly, guffaw, lol, lol, lol ,tiz, yiz ,giggle,LOL, Oh my God ! It's been so long, I forgot I had one ,1972, I was 8 , saved my pocket money to get it, It's all coming back to me now. thanks for the memories, PS , Iv'e done it now haven't I ! shown my Age !!! PSS ,I'm pretty sure it was Yellow too ! 48 years, hard to think back on all my M/Box's,,lol
that beetle came out great. that bud light is making me a little thirsty. to bad it is morning here in the states. that beer must have cost as much as that pledge you use. nice job
yellow looks and suits the model well, have you thought about adding some grime in like the arches with like dirt splash up the side in place of a decal? or where a decal would be on a race type car like this one? I think it would give some cool depth to the car. Interior also turned out super realistic :) Keep doing what your doing, you inspired me to do some of my battered cars, but i'm not so good with spray guns and airbrushes
I'm always finding matchbox cars with my metal detector, they are always in a bit of a state ,from being in the ground for years.I found the Volksdragon today, it took me agis to find the wheels, sadly I didnt find the back piece, I think it probably wasn't there though.
Definite improvement, Rob, but honestly, you should re-visit and go full Mad Max with this bug. It's simply a perfect base for the genre, character lines, large rear engine with overhead air scoop and all.
with that color its good that you took away the casting lines, i have an Original one but those lines destroy the overall shape, and its shape is not only funny, but also beautifull in the right color. wish matchbox made it like yours, or is there anyone who choosed the herbie theme for this car? that might be interesting too i guess...inspirational vid...thanx
Yeah, i'd ditch the caustic soda method and switch to paint stripper, as its a lot safer and less wasteful. B&Qs own brand stuff dumped in a resealable plastic tub works a treat on just about anything and generally doesnt need any wire brush work afterwards.
Hey :-). Good job. It looks great with the big rear tires and yellow is a perfect colour for this car .
It looks nice in yellow especially with the rear wheels, another awesome video,to how it was before.
The yellow really pops here! Nice restore!
Awesome looks good in yellow

Thanks Danny for the advice. I just popped in eBay and picked up a set.
@@MatchboxGarage Great yeah you will find them very handy. There is a shape for all occasions.
That turned out awesome i liked the yellow treatment and the backwheels were the perfect match
Great color choice with that purple glass. And the rear wheels really add that something extra.
I was 10 years old in 1971
Excellent color choice. Great job. Thanks for posting
Nice Drag Bug! That yellow really did set it off!!!

Yes, that yellow looks great with the purple windows! Great choice! I had a Volks Dragon in that original color when I was a kid. Great job, Rob!

Awesome once again 👍👍👍
Looks a lot better in yellow. A lovely turn out. :)
That li'l bug turned out to be a beauty! Really sharp!
I think it is the first time I've seen a purple glass. Never done a yellow finish before but I like it a lot...I need to do one.

Nice and clean, the yellow is a great choice for that casting!
Well done very much so
The "Folkavagn"looks great,as we say here!! Cheers.
Great job on the car...

Still a great job on the car... Love the color and the tires...
Yup, those new rear tires made it. Overall a very very fine job. Cheers Mate
I like the yellow. Nice job!
It came out... wubbly-dubbly ;)

Good work bro.
The rear tires definitely made a difference. And yellow was the perfect choice.
Thanks mate

Oh dude that's so nice, really enjoyed this one rob thanks mate
Nooooooo! The red color in that car was awesome! Now it's just another taxi. I'm so sad!

Cool car
Good Job! I guess the plastic glass could be great with a little touch of polish. Congratulations! 👍🏻
Awesome
I totally had this one!
Great job 👍
The yellow colour really suits this Herbie car, great result, well done !!.

Nice!
Very fine. Lovely jubbly? Yellow was a good choice.

REALLY nice. Tho, if I had done this, I would've painted the parachute on the rear.
Looks great :-)
hell yeah its bad ass im going to do mine in black i think
I have this one in near-mint condition!
I've just finished the same car though mine ended up white with Martini Racing decals.
If you want to protect the paint, just brush or spray the pledge, I brush it on, it might block an air gun.
Come on Rob get your act together lol 😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍
Guessing you'll have to replace the Wheels? Because the back axle look bent.
Nice work on the Paint it almost looks like Bubble Bee from Transformers.
Definite improvement, Rob, but honestly, you should re-visit and go full Mad Max with this bug. It's simply a perfect base for the genre, character lines, large rear engine with overhead air scoop and all.
If I find another one mate
Nope not 50 yet lol thats the same yr i was born lol so its 47 yrs old like you i like castings from my birth yr
Awesome Rob. Love it. What happened to the front wheels? I thought the back are bad ass. But it's very cool.

Las ruedas traseras un pelin grandes
Good video where do you purchase the liquid chrome pen i cant get one anywhere keep up the good work
eBay
Sterling work sir, maybe one of your best. Did you manage to get your fake electric multi tool fixed?
With a dodgy 99p switch. It should last as long as I don't drop it
@@MatchboxGarage Thank you for your reply, it's genuinely appreciated :)
5 people hate VW Bugs.
DuDu on steroids! :-)
Brilliant spray job like the colour but ditch the bud light and get a Stella down your neck 😂😂😂😂👌🏾✌🏿👊🏾
But the Stella hangover...
Beep beep !
Do you sell your cars if you have a website I can visit I soo want some of your cars
I don't actively sell them but everything is available
Nicely done except not feeling it on the interior.

I am considering
Unemployed day drinking like Jimmy from Diecast Resurrection!!! Careful you don't end up passed out on your roof.
I'm having a drink with Jimmy now
Sorry but that’s disgusting. Your haphazard mismatched wheels are as bad as your orange peel paint.
👍
Nice!
