I really enjoy the Catch and Cook especially when Courtney and Annalise are included! It is being fun watching Annalise grow up!!! I have grand daughters about her age and I know how much fun they are and how fast the growing up goes!!! ENJOY every second of it!!!!
Love the content. Also, enjoyed watching and listening to you and your family talking like we were friends in your kitchen. Don’t change this fun, silliness and information. Don’t get too bougie with the production; the realness is what is so fun to watch. Have a great day.
I was trying to formulate the words to elucidate those very sentiments! Then I read the first comment.. Now I don't have to say anything as you'd already done it for me!! LOL! You are absolutely correct! The connection is present. The education is wonderful and insightful... Thanks for taking me along!! It was fun!!!
Heading for Gulf Shores on June 29th. My first stop is Beach Bum Outdoors to pick up some equipment. This will be my first time surf fishing the Gulf so looking forward to recording several PBs on whatever I catch. Hope to see you while I am there.
Peir fishing is fun until it gets congested. Great video and was a pleasure meeting you and your parents at the store on grand opening. Hoping to see you guys on the beach or the water one day.
I made my first order online from beach bum outdoors and I can tell you y'all have the best customer service I have ever seen. There was a couple issues with my order and they called so we could figure out what best to substitute it with. Rockstars
I caught one at the OBX and was told it was a Atlantic Bonito. We marinated it in zesty italian dressing and grilled it. It is a excellent fish to eat and catch.
As always awesome content. Love the way you incorporate your family. FYI put your sushi mat in a gallon zip lock instead of using plastic wrap that way it doesn't get rolled in the sushi.
Sarda sarda, Atlantic bonito (not bonita). Excellent smoked...also....if you get lucky to catch a few of them in a session, then boil the chunks with half a cup of honey added to the water until just cooked through...drain the chunks and lay them on a clean kitchen towel until fully dry and cooled down, then can them in sealed jars topped up with olive oil. They will be good to eat for a long time & you will never buy canned tuna from the store again as this will be much more delicious...and no artificial preservatives either. Well done, i bet a bit of an unusual catch for you guys on the gulf side of the other side of the big pond between us :-)
My favorite fish to eat of all time. I have a guide in NC who calls me when they show up for 2 weeks along the Outer Banks, and it’s the best light tackle fishing ever!! I’m sure people have commented this as well, but it’s called locally there the BonitO with an O. It actually a skipjack tuna, and not related to the false albacore, which every catches and thinks it’s a Bonito.
Back on Long Island where I grew up. We called them Green Bonito! The season was short & were mostly a By Catch while Bluefishing. When I did bring one home for dinner. My wife commented, "why don't U bring these home instead of Bluefish"! 😅 They do taste very good cooked also.
Great video, I will have to try to get on one of those fish when am 🔙 out there at Okaloosa, and see what it's about, if I can hold all the flippers 🐬🐬🐬🐬.off,, Thanks for the Content,,, Stay Safe God Bless,,,
Remember when you did fishing videos? Honestly I know it’s a catch and cook but 2 minutes of fishing and the rest cooking makes this a cooking channel.
That meat looks really good. I just had some seared yellowfin but seared it in everything bagel seasoning with a 50/50 soy and mirin mix. It was awesome. I would suggest that to anyone.
Love your videos...just fished Ft Morgan 2 weeks ago from washington state...great time soften your cream cheese in a bowl with a fork. put it in the corner of a zip bag. cut the tip off the bag and squeeze it onto the sushi roll pastry bag style works like a dream
Great video..as i stated in one of bearded Brad's videos i swung by you store and picked up a bummy stick and the penn 5500 slammer and put 30 lb slick braid on it. Various tackle also. I've been fishing over 60 years (yes im an old fart) but when i put the rod together it did not fit flush. Its about a 1/2 inch apart did not want to put any lubricant because of scent..and don't want to force it...loving the videos 😂 from the intire team. I would recommend beach bum outdoors to everybody great staff and selection. I live about 90 mins away in Florida but will be coming back.
Wrap the bamboo sushi mat completely in cling wrap. Then as you roll, use the mat to keep it round & apply a lite pressure - but don’t roll it all the way around, just til you get the shape. Leave a little seaweed clear of rice at the end, dampen it and then when you “close” it, that flap should stick.
Just went to the Okaloosa pier a few days ago. It's insanely crowded with dolphin watchers and other anglers, especially out at the end - and this was on a crazy windy day after ferocious inshore storms and the water was incredibly turbid. I can't say I enjoyed my time there.
Mr. Beach Bum I just have to say that "Northern Atlantic Bonita Mackerel" meat was most certainly pink LOL I didn't see hardly anything white in there man... Maybe it was the lighting or camera angle 😂 Just busting your chops my friend Cool video🤪
I cut my cream cheese up as soon as it comes out of the fridge, cut longways with a knife. Then, flip it sideways and cut it again. One strip will make two....
Best way to add cream cheese to a sushi roll. Freeze the cream cheese for 30 minutes. Carefully remove the cream cheese from the freezer and throw it in the garbage. Now you have better rolls!!!!!!
i thought that was a real Atlantic bonito . the one you can make sushi with, most inshore stuff is the false albicore. but the meat is supposed to be really good in the bonito
Oh, and the cream cheese needs to be super cold to hold its shape. 😊 it’s never fun to handle, a piece of dental floss or a floss pickle can get it off the plate tho
As Courtney was fiddling around with the cream cheese, it occurred to me that she might do well to buy one of those long, thin (artist) painter's palette knives to hold it up and flip it over. ..

It does my heart good to see you three (four counting the dog) together. There's a "peaceful feeling" as the Eagles song goes!
Love the hook circle rig.Macks n Kings cut up everything. And that Atlantic Bonito with stripes.
I've never seen 1. Ever.
Cool watch cook n family.
I was down with my kids last week and stopped in for some things, great store and friendly service. We will be back each time we are down.
"Tastes like fish" - Courtney (probably)
Great video! I always see the piers saying that "northern" have been caught so nice to see a review of it.
I made my first order online from beach bum outdoors and I can tell you y'all have the best customer service I have ever seen. There was a couple issues with my order and they called so we could figure out what best to substitute it with. Rockstars

Correct!
It looks like a Skip Jack Tuna .
Fantastic Table Fair 😀
Your family is so beautiful ❤
Nice Atlantic Bonito Matt!
So here in NC we call them the Atlantic Bonito and they are sooooo good to eat!!! It’s wonderful seared!!!
As always awesome content. Love the way you incorporate your family. FYI put your sushi mat in a gallon zip lock instead of using plastic wrap that way it doesn't get rolled in the sushi.
Good to see ya'll still putting out content!!
See you at the shop in early Aug can't wait...
Beach bum great video. Loved it man love all the family time. Keep it up. Can’t wait for the next video.
Another great catch clean cook... great presentation on the food... looked delicious! Thanks
Great video Beach Bum good job on the sushi Courtney
Love the content, and enjoy watching y'all try a new species!
I was right beside you in Fort Walton at the aquarium with the kids that day 😂. Love the content and the new store is AWESOME.

Mannnn that sushi looks fire. I caught my first Atlantic Bonito last year and it was amazing!

Awesome catch and cook

Northern mackerel 😂🤙 Bonito!
Nice Atlantic Bonito!!

I love watching your episodes, I wonder if you should freeze the cream cheese lol 🎉
Great fish!
I caught this huge striper!
That sushi looked good!
Love the vids like usual!
I’m very impressed! Looks delicious 💕
I will have to get out there earlier to catch some fish on Okaloosa Pier.
Good stuff!
That meat looks really good. I just had some seared yellowfin but seared it in everything bagel seasoning with a 50/50 soy and mirin mix. It was awesome. I would suggest that to anyone.
Great video! That looks absolutely yummy!
It was nice meeting you out there that day.
Love your videos...just fished Ft Morgan 2 weeks ago from washington state...great time

Maybe one day I can make sushi for you guys! I can show you guys some tips to make sushi and cut cream cheese (lol Courtney) but great video man!!
i’m in pensacola cool to see you out at the beach 🎣👍
Want more catch and cook content please!😊
"pain in the butt to make" go Cort! Every time I've tried making my own sushi I lost my appetite by the time I was done.
Love your videos you are a great dude.
Definite Atlantic Bonito. Northern mackerel must be a local thing.
Try it with thin sliced ginger. Mmm.
Yes that’s an Atlantic Bonito. That’s the good one. Straight lines = good, squiggly lines = nasty fish (Bonita/Albie)
Put the cream cheese in a icing tube and squeeze it out. Works great
Great video..as i stated in one of bearded Brad's videos i swung by you store and picked up a bummy stick and the penn 5500 slammer and put 30 lb slick braid on it. Various tackle also. What size of line do you use when fishing on pier
Just went to the Okaloosa pier a few days ago. It's insanely crowded with dolphin watchers and other anglers, especially out at the end - and this was on a crazy windy day after ferocious inshore storms and the water was incredibly turbid. I can't say I enjoyed my time there.
Looks like a skipjack tuna. Northern jacks have a vertical tiger stripe pattern
For the cream cheese just use a pastry bag and lay a good line down.
them are tasty! we call them bonito. I hope to get some in a few weeks in jersey. wish they froze better
Aloha, is there a reason why you’re not using a black swivel up top?
Curious as to what pound test wire you are using on your leader? Good video.
That's is a true bonito, Atlantic Bonito
Yay Courtney
Hey Matthew, what would you say is the best overall saltwater combo that can catch the most species of fish
So she shimmied up a tree but came back down for some sashimi. (Sa-shee-mee)
😢
Any suggestions to fit it flush??
Those bullbay rods I love. Have a brut, assault and a stealth which I want more of
Muy buen video! Saludo pescador desde Buenos Aires!
That's crazy crowded
Yes Atlantic bonito! Only way I found that is ok tasting is bleed them out instantly and then smoke it
That “sushi” started as a disaster soon as you decided to put peppers in there 😂
Cut the cheese with floss
Mr. Beach Bum I just have to say that "Northern Atlantic Bonita Mackerel" meat was most certainly pink LOL I didn't see hardly anything white in there man... Maybe it was the lighting or camera angle 😂 Just busting your chops my friend Cool video🤪
Bonito
Atlantic Bonito
take your hat off at the dinner table... blessings on you and family.🙏🙏🙏
I cut my cream cheese up as soon as it comes out of the fridge, cut longways with a knife. Then, flip it sideways and cut it again. One strip will make two....
Put cream cheese in a zip lock bag and the snip a corner w a pair of scissors.😜😜🤪🤪😋
That is my target fish and I’m also fishing on that pier, no luck on that species yet it’s all hard tails nyahahaha
Bonita mackerel
I’ve never made sushi at home because I don’t have access to fresh fish. I’m curious how long it was from ocean to table for this fish?
Best way to add cream cheese to a sushi roll. Freeze the cream cheese for 30 minutes. Carefully remove the cream cheese from the freezer and throw it in the garbage. Now you have better rolls!!!!!!
What gauge/pound test wire do you use?
Haven't seen your videos in a minute and at first I thought yu were David Spade going fishing
The Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus), also known as Boston mackerel, Norwegian mackerel, Scottish mackerel
It's an Atlantic Bonito. But they are part of the Mackerel family.
All you need to do with the cream cheese is stick in the freezer to harden it up, don’t let it freeze.
Soooo hot here in Texas. Don't even feel like going fishing.
i thought that was a real Atlantic bonito . the one you can make sushi with, most inshore stuff is the false albicore. but the meat is supposed to be really good in the bonito
If someone could please tell me where this is I would love to go their some day
@3:36 that looks like what we call a mack tuna in Australia
Sa-shimy (sa-shim-e)? Its sashimi (sa-she-me), and sushi is rice with vinegar and fish placed on top. What you served are rolls and sashimi.
I believe the bonito looks exactly like a pacific bonito. look up a picture of a pacific bonito.
Looks and sounds more like the Atlantic or Northern Mackerel than the Atlantic Bonito. The Bonito flesh is much redder.
White Bonita . When i was a kid in the carolinas , we called them striped ass apes. Blue Marlin candy.
Put the cream cheese on wax paper and keep it in the freezer for a little while.
Would it be good if I freeze it to bring back home to Arkansas
Oh, and the cream cheese needs to be super cold to hold its shape. 😊 it’s never fun to handle, a piece of dental floss or a floss pickle can get it off the plate tho
As Courtney was fiddling around with the cream cheese, it occurred to me that she might do well to buy one of those long, thin (artist) painter's palette knives to hold it up and flip it over. ..
