This song is anthropology and oriental meditation. It is about Gurdjieff and his dances that involved the whole body in complex movements designed to control and relax in order to achieve enlightenment. As with 'The Cure', the meaning is almost always esoteric in Battiato's songs.
I saw Franco Battiato at the theater in a memorable concert; his voice, his speeches, his music, his charisma; all together created a magical atmosphere. Unforgettable.
did so as well when i was about 11/12 (now im 25) , a theatre as well, twas one of the times he played with the orchestra of our city; had the luck to shuffle thro some crowd, shake his hand , tell him how much his music meant to me and even get an autograph(total luck because with all the peeps wanting to say hi he had a low chance to sign up stuff in that occasion, literally the whole theatre wanted to say hi as soon as he sat to listen to the final asset of the concert, which was some symphonic music; and he was nice and collected about it); then saw him again in a square concert(he loved those) when i was like 18 or 19. I m also pretty sure it was one of the last times he made a concert, right before he got very sick; so i lucked out again on it. 11/12 was also the same time frame in which my school orchestra got us to sing a couple of times with roberto vecchioni in full blown concerts.
The infinite joy of music: I, an Italian, who at this moment am in the Azores islands to escape from a homeland that I no longer like, and you, an American, who reminds me of the lost beauty of what I loved and what I owe try not to forget. Thank you. 🙂 Your beloved grandmother can be proud of you. You are doing a good job.
I usually don’t like those “reaction” video that seems so staged but you are different, you are genuine. Also, I’m ashamed to say this as I’m Italian but you made me rediscover Battiato, now I’m obsessed with him, thank you!
Franco came from another planet, really. In 1982 in Italy, no one would even spoken about anklets, Orient, Balinese dancers in a pop song: only Franco could do it! PS: please react to his early music, I suggest the wonderful Propriedad prohibida (1974) or Areknames (1972) with words backwards.
At this point we just need a reaction to the mainstream ones: 'Bandiera Bianca' (White flag), and "Cuccuruccucu" (im sure i've just written this one wrong lol)
Bravo! You can never go wrong with Battiato ....great artist and a nice human being, too bad he's no longer with us as precious people like him are rare to find.
Hi! Rudi here. Thank you for doing this. The link I provided was the original video but this one is ok too, i was just afraid that on another video other than the original the viennese walzer at the end got lost but luckly that wasn't the case. Maybe one thing would have been worth watching was the "introduction" at the beginning. And of course Battiato's dance!
Haha, you are awesome! I like how you go from Hatari to Battiato (and many more...). Franco was one of the most adventurus composers, arrengers, conductors ever set foot on earth. Glad you enjoyed his uniqueness
Next step is 'La voce del padrone'. I still haven't decided which is the best song of the album. Maybe I will never decide. 'Centro di gravità Permanente' or 'Summer on a solitary beach'? 'Bandiera bianca' or 'Cuccuruccucú'? Or maybe 'Gli uccelli'? I don't know!! I just know that it is One of the best Italian records of all times. Maybe the best. I love Battiato!😍 Thanks Angelo!!!!!
Franco is actually called Francesco, but they decided to present him as Franco in his first TV appearance, to better distinguish him from Francesco Guccini who also appeared on TV for the first time in the same show. From that day on everyone called me Franco - the musician will remember - even my mother
What not much people know, it's that battiato was a great spiritual student, and when he found goudjieff, he descovered the 4rd way, and applicate in all his life, and he put those message in ALL his discografy, and people today sing of ancient secret about PRECENCE, but he dont know ABOUT IT, when they sing battiato songs
The song is not necessarily a romantic song, it's actually much more that that: there's some kind of higher purpose. This was the case of practically all of his songs. There's a philosophical intent. Here, he's singing about the universal aspect of dance that reunites people and sometimes becomes a spiritual moment.
The sing that i just love about Battiato as a performer is in that he looks like your history teacher with his glasses, jacket, shirt and then BOOM BITCH HE DROPS THE DANKEST SHIT
No one asked you to react to Pino Daniele?recomanded Napule è….Je so pazzo…. Che male c’è….ecccccc fenomenal . Have a merry Christmas and a hug from Italy
Thank you for your videos Ang. You make me realize how lucky I ve been in my youth, since I could listen to almost all these artists in live concerts. W la musica! And best wishes to u and your beloved ones ❤
Thanks, Mad, for loving our Italian artists ❤ Franco Battiato has been the greatest poet, philosopher of Italian song. His texts are a source of teaching and spiritual reflexion for everyone. A greeting and a hug from Venice 🇮🇹 Where are you from, Mad?
Love it! Music from the Balcans mixes perfectly with classical and ethnic ones. This blending is powerful, the change in rhythm is typical of a lot of Battiato songs. He mentions different themes in the lyrics and then music changes to represent what he sings about. Extraordinary genius 💯👏
Easily one of my favourites. Reminds me of my mother... Thanks for the reaction to this one! Edit: i feel that, about your granny... I send you a virtual hug!
If you want to listen to someheavy Franco Battiato go get a listen on "gommalacca", produced by Madasky, one of the craziest musician in Italy during 90's. I suggest you "shocking in my town", my favourite song from Battiato. A small amount of his story, he started in the 70' doing wild experimental electronic music, then in the 80's he transpose those experiments in pop music destroing chart with almost every song. Some songs from the 80's are still played and remixed and he had an ENORMOUS impact on musical culture in Italy. That's why we call him ''IL MAESTRO'' and we really miss him.
Hi Ang... Just giving you new tracks... Have you never tried to listen Area (a prog rock Italian band). For example you could try to listen this song: "luglio agosto settembre (nero)"
@@davidefuochetti1063 no, no.... io non li incolpo, anzi! I don’t know if you already listened to her songs because I am still in the process of binge watching your reaction videos lol but could I suggest you check out Loredana Bertè? She is a legendary Italian music icon, not loved and appreciated enough in my opinion. “Mare d’inverno” is the song I like the most from her repertoire but there are many more beautiful songs. She is the sister of another wonderful voice, Mia Martini, gone too soon in the 90s. Loredana has been so groundbreaking that many foreign artists copied her. She is a legend.
Franco Battiato is “the Master”….we miss him so much…

Franco Battiato is the teacher, the philosopher, the free thinker. An absolute sensitive artist. : D each of his songs is a hymn to thought.
Classe, eleganza antica e canzoni stupende...Immenso Franco Battiato❤
Angelo today you are more beautiful than ever 😍
".... E gira tutto intorno alla stanza, mentre si danza! "
So freaking amazing!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Legendary song! You see, dear Ang, slowly slowly we are makings you listen all Battiato's songs 🥰 thank you for spreading Battiato ♥️

E' bellissimo vedere qualche straniero apprezzare il maestro. Sei un grande.
Beautiful song by a great artist who mixed very very well pop music and culture.

"strani giorni" and "tra sesso e castità" are my favorite songs

never clicked on a video so fast
I saw him 13 times in concert... We miss him too much

For those who love music, age is an absolutely relative concept :)

Awh you too thank you
He was a genius. Half of Italian musicians were inspired by Battiato.
Now THIS is a beatiful song
This is the best.......but you have to listen Centro di gravità permanente
Goodbye poet, thank you for having translated the deepest human thoughts into musia
I have to admit that I like only a few songs of Battiato, but at the same time I have to admit that he was a real Grand-Master.
Please, react to "aver paura di innamorarsi troppo" of Lucio Battisti, one of the greatest Italian singers
before italian he is sicilian, so very proud of him
Dear Mad Ang Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas everybody!!! 😘😘😘
Merry Christmas!!
You should listen to “Shock in my town” (crazy song!) or “Tra sesso e castità”!
Franco Battiato, il Maestro…❤️ how much we miss him, he was a musical genius.
Actually, Battiato used to be a kind of metalhead in youth, with black hair and beard.
Amazing song😍 and Chamaleontic Artist...Thank you from Italy😙😚
Il grande ed unico Battiato😘

This is an arrangement version
Hope you get better soon, merry xmas
here's a song about love by Franco Battiato: "E Ti Vengo A Cercare"
this song makes me cry😭💕
Wonderful song
Love you Ang.
Have a good day!
Love you bro
“Il Mantello E La Spiga” by Battiato is His most similar heavy rock song!
Also Shock in my town
@@laspilly yes but I think that “il mantello e la spiga”’ is less “pop” than “shock in my town”
Maestro ❤
Masterpiece ❤
You were right about the slowness of the song, because the original is slow, this live version is different.
R.I.P. Franco💙
Shock in my town
Battiato was a fucking genius
Listen also Il Re del mondo, from Battiato. Absolutely awesome.
I think you could really appreciate Angelo Branduardi too, i think either "La Pulce D'Acqua" or "il giocatore di biliardo"?
Battisti great man!
Please listen also LA STAGIONE DELL'AMORE di BATTIATO
Il Maestro.
Grazie Angelo!!
Hi Mad Ang, this is a song that I wanted to choose for you.
You are such a good person, would like to talk with you about music with beer and wine!
That would be amazing
@@MadAng66 I bring italian wine :-) You care for beers
They composed lots of melodious waltzes in Vietnam...
Please listen also "Centro di gravità permanente"

Best Song of Lucio Dalla: la sera dei miracoli
Franco Battiato genius
I would suggest, if you have never listened to a song, to always listen to the original recording on the disc, before the live version
Il" Maestro"Franco Battiato!
Hi Ang... Just giving you new tracks... Have you never tried to listen Area (a prog rock Italian band). For example you could try to listen this song: "luglio agosto settembre (nero)"
You should react to Riccardo Cocciante's songs, for example Bella senz' anima.
Or Marco Masini...
Battiato is a genius

Hi! I am an Italian new subscriber. I like your reaction. I have a request: "Vengo dalla luna" an Caparezza's old song.
It's time to learn Italian. It will be a beautiful journey (è ora di imparare l'italiano. sarà un bel viaggio).
A hymn to dance!
