I don't think i'm exaggerating if i say Lucio Battisti was to italian music more or less what The Beatles were for british and american music, he revolutionized it. This is one of his most iconic classics 🙂. You should check more from him. His discography is a gift to humanity.

You are right. Lucio Battisti and Domenico Modugno changed for ever Italian music, especially Mimmo was the first Italian Superstar out of Italian borders. We have to mention too the revolution in sounds and lyrics brought by Battiato and Dalla, or FdA...he was not the Italian Dylan but Dylan is the american FdA just as Fernanda Pivano said

Lucio Battisti - Emotions (English translation)
Following with eyes a heron above the river and then
    Finding yourself flying
And lying down happy above the grass to listen to
    A subtle sorrow
And at night passing with the look at the hill to find out
Where the sun goes to sleep
Asking yourself why when the sadness falls
At the bottom of the heart
Like the snow doesn't make a sound
And driving like crazy with headlights turned off in the night
    For to see
If afterwords is so hard to die
    And clasping hands to stop
Something that is inside of me
But in your mind it is not
    You can't understand
You call it if you want
    Emotions
You call it if you want
    Emotions
Getting out of the moor of the morning
Where you can't see a hair's breadth away
To find your own self again
Making a small talk with a fisherman
    For hours and hours
For not to hear that inside something is dying
And covering with soil a green seedling
Hoping it will be able to
Sprout one day a red rose
And taking in the fists a l man
Only because he was a little rude
Knowing that what burns are not insults
And closing the eyes for to stop
    Something that
    Is inside of me
But in your mind it is not
    You can't understand
You call it if you want
    Emotions
You call it if you want
    Emotions

Battisti is one of the sacred monsters of Italian music. His songs are known by all generations. Moreover, the lyrics of his songs were written by Giulio Mogol, in my opinion, one of the best contemporary poets, while the music is all played by Lucio Battisti himself. Therefore, I take this opportunity to suggest you some of his other legendary songs of which you can find the lyrics translated into English directly on UA-cam using the keyword "english lyrics":
    1) Pensieri e parole;
    2) Io vorrei...non vorrei...ma se vuoi;
    3) I giardini di Marzo;
    4) Con il nastro rosa.

LUCIO è in assoluto IL NUMERO UNO.

But when you recalled your time in New York I get the message: music truly is, like laughter and crying, an universal language. That's all what this song is about: moments, experiences of life, simple ordinary things that in a glimpse of thought become core memories. The song was recorded with a 60-piece orchestra. On drums was the great Franz Di Cioccio, drummer of PFM, an Italian prog group, very famous in England in the 70s and that you should go and listen to… EMOZIONI has a poem as its text, it refers to a horse trip that Battisti and Mogols made from Milan to Rome for fun. But then it took on a meaning that goes far beyond that experience. This is the only recording of the song: good first time. It was never repeated again.

Hi Mad, I love your videos and I'm glad you like italian "classics" songs.
I recommend some good translations of Lucio Battisti's songs. The greatest hits are written by Giulio Rapetti aka Mogol. We are talking about a true poet and therefore of poetry. Lucio's voice is perfect for Mogol's lyrics. Have a nice weekend!

7:57 i totally agree. you don’t need to understand, you just feel the songs vibe. but just imagine how much more you’d appreciate the song if you know that the lyrics is some of the most poetic, touching and well written lyrics contained in a song ever

It is very difficult to say which one is the best song from Lucio Battisti because there are so many and all of them have something special but this one, Emozioni, every time gives me the goosbumps and brings tears in my eyes for its melody, the lyrics and the beauty of the song itself.
He was a true genius who left us too soon leaving a great void in our hearts.......💔

The text was written by Mogol. The greatness of Battisti was just this: even without understanding the words, you can understand exactly the emotion. Battisti sang directly to people's hearts, with his clean voice he was the greatest interpreter of Italian music.

My eyes following a heron on the river, then
    finding myself flying
And lying down happily on the grass, listening
    to a subtle regret
And my gaze crossing the hill at night to find
where the sun goes down to sleep
Wondering why, when my sadness fall at the bottom of my heart
like the snow, it doesn't make a sound
And driving like a madman in the night with the headlights off, just to see
whether it's so hard to die, after all
Closing my hands to stop something that
    is inside me,
but it isn't in your mind
    You cannot understand
You can call them, if you want,
    emotions.
You can call them, if you want,
    emotions.
Going out on the moors in the morning, when you can't see a feet away,
    to find myself again
Chatting of this and that with a fisher for hours on end
to not feeling something dying inside of me
And covering a green sprout with soil, hoping one day
it could grow into a red rose.
And punching a man just because he's been a bit rude,
knowing that the insults are not what's burning me
And closing my eyes to stop something that
    is inside me
but is not in your mind
    You cannot understand
You can call them, if you want,
    emotions.
You can call them, if you want,
    emotions.

I am really happy that you immediately recognized the genius of Lucio Battisti in his voice. Look at lyrics too. he was criticized at the time, because he didn't sing conventionally. Right now he's a star, the greatest singer we've ever had, like Pavarotti and Mina.
