@@JennSCHWA but you see them eating the wings. It's like filming a martial arts scene in front of falling water - the wings show you that the passage of time isn't being manipulated. They're not getting guests to do multiple takes eating these punishingly hot wings. Sean is an excellent interviewer with a research team that knows his style and how to pick fun topics the first will want to talk about while they suffer from the heat. It's an extremely effective formula that they're able to put to great effect over and over. No amount of clever editing can make a boring interview as entertaining as pretty much every episode of Hot Ones.
Imagine if Sean walks over to Matt and slaps him and goes back to his sit And says “ as long as you know “ like what Tony soprano said to the new body guard
Man, this guy is amazing. I love to hear him talk. He's managed to remain down to earth, despite being one of the top actors in Hollywood. Also, he can really handle some heat. Mad props.
This show could singlehandedly take the place of the well known American talk shows, whether they are aired during the day or night. Sean has the best questions that I've ever heard come from an interviewer. He always surprises his guests with his questions and that always pleases me. Keep 'em comin!
at this point i'm convinced they just ask the guests to say something about how amazing his questions are...it happens too often for it to not be a thing lol
The celebrity humility check is whether they took the time to watch a few episodes before they came on the show, extra points for knowing to respect Da Bomb.
@@elmay9268 He didn't use a gay slur, he said he decided to stop using them, and I don't even think hes done it recently, I think he was saying that hes decided not to use it in movies anymore either. I love how when Robin Williams comes up, you can see Matt get a bit emotional. That's just the kind of impact he had on people. We are a long ways away from that tragic day at this point, but his lasting impression on people is unwavering. Great stuff. We all miss him.
Hell, it gets me sad whenever I hear about Robin Williams. He was like that cool uncle we all had growing up. I just watched What Dreams May Come again a few days ago and the scene where he finds out that he can't see his wife because she committed suicide was heartbreaking.
That’s exactly what we did at the office when we bought the sauces. Every one of us did “da bomb”. We did it once and we flat out refused to ever do it again.
One of the best things about this show is how it really humanizes celebrities. In which I mean it really lets us see what they are really like outside of their profession, it's great. Matt Damon seems like a nice guy, humble and very passionate about what he does.
Yeah, man. Another thing is watching the episodes with celebrities you don't really care about and then being like "Ah fuck. I'd love to have a beer with that dude/ chick."
sean really asks the best questions out of any interviewer/journalist I’ve seen. I think that’s part of the reason this show has gotten so popular and they’ve booked great celebrities- finally, refreshing in-depth conversations that makes us feel like we’re having lunch with friends. Bravo!
Matt Damon is so much more humble and wholesome than literally any other older/mode aged guy in Hollywood. More than Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom cruise, Brad Pitt, etc.
After GWH was out, I just didn’t like Matt; however, watching his career skyrocket while he remained so down to earth…showed me that I judged him unfairly.
Big ups to the editors on this show man. From the bg music to the transitions and the animation, all of it so beautifully done! Matt Damon is also an absolute G, love the guy
I think he spent something like half a year preparing for the 1st audition. Enjoy someone using a proper accent was funny cause of how accurate was for me.
You know Sean has made it when the guests are suggesting their friends as future guests on the show. I would be questioning our friendship, but I'm a wimp when it comes to hot stuff and everyone knows it. Great interview as always. Matt's an awesome storyteller and interviewee. Can we start a petition to get Keanu on here? Damn, I want that to happen so freaking bad.
After so many years of this request, Keanu HAS to be on this show in the next couple of years. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it’ll be soon with John Wick 4 coming out
This show is the best at getting celebrities to show their true person. It's hard to hold up a front or reputation when your mouth is on fire and you're getting fed deep, thoughtful questions.
The Joe Rogan Experience is great at that too, though he doesn't have A-list celebrities nearly as often, but that's also the point. You can't maintain a facade during an hours-long conversation while drinking alcohol and talking about whatever.
I don't think it's that celebrities don't want to show their real personalities. Americas comitization and capitalization of fame from the very beginning meant they were booked on talk shows in a meat grinder gauntlet fashion. Their studios and agents have a scripted list to plug whatever they're selling. They're bored with it and we're bored with it. Then you have something like this that comes along or years ago Graham Norton across the pond and they just get to have a good time even while plugging their project.
One of the best guest interviews ever, just bc Matt is such a good communicator. The interplay between Matt & Sean was just so easy--felt like 2 friends just talking. Thank you
I appreciate that Matt Damon is an actor and not a celebrity (e.g., more Tom Hank less Tom Cruise). He drops hints about his family, but generally treats work as work and personal life as personal.
@@jakemcbride7049 not really. When his kids were young, we didn't see them flashed around like poor Siri Cruise or Will Smith's kids. That's what I meant.
I know what you mean, and agree. He’s an actor for love of the craft and the success has been secondary. Hugh Jackman also strikes me as one of these. Natalie Portman, too.
You really can't get a better interview than what Sean does. His questions are no bullshit and just straight to the point of what people want to know and what Sean himself wants to know as well. I love this show and I have a lot of appreciation for Matt Damon so thank you Sean and First We Feast for having him on this amazing show.
The sound effect when Sean throws down his last wing after the epic sound effect they gave Matt had me snort out my drink. Bless the editors for that little gem.

@Peter Evans Did you mean that to sound negative, because it sounds negative. I'd say being poor, middle class or rich has absolutely nothing to do with being a good person - which is what Matt Damon is.
@Peter Evans Well, thanks for belittling my idea out of the gate, assuming that I did not think it through, assuming that it was the first thing that popped in my head. Pretty pompous of you. May I suggest some courses in debating, would do you good. Anyone can become a good person. Money does not make that easier - in fact, it makes it harder in many cases - it produces entitlement and disconnection from non-peer groups. Money is just a facet of ones surroundings, which take part in forming who and what a person is/becomes. Just like lack thereof. It does not help make people better - that is a falsehood.
What I liked, the highlight moment for me was when Matt called his Uncle-in-law just his Uncle. "my Uncle" - it says a lot about his acceptance in his wife's family and his feelings about family.
There are people who say Uncle in law? I work in a store that sells birthday cards and what not and I always have a giggle when someone buys a birthday card that specifically says daughter in or son in law. I just think it's so passive aggressive lol
Who would have thought that combining eating hot wings and interviewing actors and celebrities would be such a winning combo?? It just works. Brilliantly.
Kind of dumb when you think about it. But compared to most things that entertain people nowadays... It's not so bad. I mean people sit down and watch reaction channels for christ sake.

Who would've thought this show would rise this high? Damon not only did great, but you could tell he has actually watched the show which makes his episode better. Next is Ben Affleck, and maybe a truth or dab with the two of them.
Hearing Matt breakdown how movies do/don't make money once you factor in the theaters cut and the marketing costs and all that was really interesting and it totally explains why those "mid-budget" movies don't really exist anymore. Well, they do kinda, but now they usually go straight to streaming services or they get made as a series now. Interesting how things change.
Not necessarily for the better. We have more great stuff on the small screen but missing out massively on the high craft low budget stuff on the big screen.
I feel like B-movies get more attention now than before because of streaming services. Like I would never watch a non-blockbuster movie like the mcu in the theaters, but with streaming and time to waste, I watch more B-movies than I did before. I remember Parasite went to streaming first(in my country), then suddenly went big screen when they realize that it is a legit good movie worth watching in theaters. The problem with netflix is they make more so-so movies than good ones.
@@JOHNOOH It's not necessarily for the worse either though. A lot of those movies used to fail at the box office because they were inherently made for a more niche audience. Their cost was subsidized by the big budget blockbuster movies. Now more of that niche audience is more likely to find that level of content on streaming services, where as before it was harder to get that audience to find the movie in theaters because the smaller movies didn't get as much marketing power out into them. But algorithm based online marketing means those movies almost always find their people.
I think I’d like to see Jim Carrey on the show. I think Sean is such a good host that Jim would be really appreciative to answer his questions etc. I’m not looking for wild Jim, I’m looking for a one on one conversation with humor thrown in
I don't think it would be so good. I feel like McCarthy sucked alot of the humor out of him so he would go with her on her anti-vaccination tours and after they split up he's done nothing but overcompensate by going as far as he can in the other direction. I don't need nearly 30 more minutes of him ranting about someone who isn't president anymore.

This show could singlehandedly take the place of the well known American talk shows, whether they are aired during the day or night. This show is the best at getting celebrities to show their true person. It's hard to hold up a front or reputation when your mouth is on fire and you're getting fed deep, thoughtful questions.
It is hard, but Matt succeeds
The Joe Rogan Experience is great at that too, though he doesn't have A-list celebrities nearly as often, but that's also the point.
You can't maintain a facade during an hours-long conversation while drinking alcohol and talking about whatever.
That’s why DJ Khalid quit after 3. He sus as fuck
Oh you are so right.... I never really thought about it until I read this
I don't think it's that celebrities don't want to show their real personalities.
Still one of my favorite actors. Good will hunting absolutely iconic and saving Private Ryan. Brilliant actor

That line when he says my kids gonna be so happy took me away!!❤
What I liked, the highlight moment for me was when Matt called his Uncle-in-law just his Uncle. "my Uncle" - it says a lot about his acceptance in his wife's family and his feelings about family.

Exactly
Not necessarily for the better. We have more great stuff on the small screen but missing out massively on the high craft low budget stuff on the big screen.
I feel like B-movies get more attention now than before because of streaming services. Like I would never watch a non-blockbuster movie like the mcu in the theaters, but with streaming and time to waste, I watch more B-movies than I did before. I remember Parasite went to streaming first(in my country), then suddenly went big screen when they realize that it is a legit good movie worth watching in theaters. The problem with netflix is they make more so-so movies than good ones.
but look the lawsuits know
@@JOHNOOH It's not necessarily for the worse either though.
