I have a 11 year old 168,000km 1kd, sounds just like this engine…. Watching these videos I know I should replace, jeez I am definitely saving to get these replaced… they are expensive here in the Caribbean.
$4000 pretty cheap to take a engine out 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. I swapped an engine over in a day, wish I could get 4K hahaha😊
its so strange that so many different outcomes from so many different hiluxs, some people go 400k and never changed injectors, some people have their injectors fail at 200k.
I Know man I have a hilux with 394 thousand on it and im pretty sure original injectors and it doesnt have a bad knock
I have a hilux as well with 388000km and original injectors and turbo. Still moves like a bullet
My sons Toyota landcruiser has done 150 thousand miles D4D same injectors since new it’s a 2009 drives perfect I change oil and oil filter and fuel filter every 4 month

Hi, 2010 / 2kd ftv ( 317000km ) issues - start up in the morning and run normal for 10 min and after okm_ 60km its struggles to reach the 60km . No smoke and engine oil level don't drop . Toyota techsaid it can be the injector tips . What's your opinion? .

When I pump the fuel filter it doesn’t go hard. I definitely have fuel. Do you think it could be the injector drive.

Im hoping you might be able to help me,
Where do i start i guess at the beginning, I bought a 2009 hilux 3.0l last year with a new MOT on it ran it all year without issue. Went in for its mot and failed badly on emissions. My mechanic ran tests and found all number of issues.
Basically i have bought and put in a 2014 engine thats suppose to have done 72000 miles. I have had to refit the original fuel pump injectors, air intake etc to get the wiring loom to work as the new engine had a completely different loom and plugs on all the ancillaries. Got it in fired it up and it smoked the place out at first then cleared out but it had a injector knock and will smoke if you hold it at 3000rpm anything below that it run perfect. We thought it was the injector as the ones from the original engine had done 200000miles. I had them tested and two injectors out the four were bad. so i got a service exchange set of new injectors and put them in, got them coded so all the lights on the dash went out. Started it and it filled the place with smoke again which after letting it run slowly cleared abit so i took it out for a thrash to try and clear it abit which it did but it is still showing the same traits as it did before i got new injectors you rev and hold it at 3000rmp and it smokes like its over fueling and when you rev it the diesel knock is still there. My and my mechanic are loosing the will with it but ive invested so much in it now that it needs to work for me.

Plug everything in check the fuel pressure plug in the sensor on the common rail. Check the fuel pressure.

what do you think about diesel additives? does it make any difference ? fuel doctor claims to be really good.
G'day mate, I have an 09 Hilux, only got it a few weeks ago and new to a Diesel engine, I think it runs ok and I can't hear any knocks, I assume it still has the original injectors, should I look into changing them?
yeah bro 100 percent and even an egr clean as well injecters bout 2600 and egr clean bout 800 bucks hope that helps mate
What was the temperature of the engine when revving it?
54c read it on the scan,its not cold.

I've serviced mine at 10k since the warranty ran out. I'm at 240k
You will need to buy the kit, watch the videos and do it yourself or bring it down to Brisbane

Hi can I ask what town you are in thanks I got a 2006 Turbo hilux and I got blue smoke comen out of the muffler n also if I put my foot down to go up a hill the engine light comes on n I got no power so I have to pull over n wait 10 minutes n drive again and I have been to 5 different mechanic and got told 5 different things n do not no what to do any more you sound genuine can u help me ?
