Almost everyone forgets to reinforce the door hinges with 3" screws also. Almost all door hinges are attached with the same 1/2" screws that doors locks use. I recently replaced all my hinge screws with 3" screws. You immediately feel the door be more solid when opening and closing. If you have heavy, steel lined doors, the typical 1/2" screw will gradually pull away from the door frame at the hinge juncture. It would be easy to kick in a door at the hinge side, even if you have 3" screws at the dead bolt side, if you only have 1/2" screws at the hinges.
3" screws in all door hinges, use strike strips along the door latch edge; make sure windows do not open more than 6" using stop-nails; always lock doors and windows when leaving home or office, set your alarms; drive exposed screws tips through fence tops pointing into your yard; always use bright LED exterior lights set on a timer, get a gun legally and get proper training on how to use the gun in a tense situation.
I know this is an older vid but wanted to mention that Kwikset Smartkey although has its own issues with the earlier versions is harder to pick and is bump resistant. Personally, if I get my drill out, I’m taking out the pins as close to shearline as possible or enough to get rid of them. It’s cheaper to replace cylinder itself than a ruin a customers decorative deadbolt. Most all residential pins are brass but the narrow keyway might mess up your drill bit depending on the size you start with so I start with a unibit (aka stepdrill) to get the hole started then go to drill bit. Those door guardians at the last part of the video are better than nothing but because their a low grade aluminum they flex and will not stop a door from getting kicked in. They fail surprisingly quickly too with a little bit of force. The slide bolt design although ugly has been working for thousands of years… Thanks for sharing!
The video is a very professionally done and easy to understand. I learned a lot from it. I am surprised at the bump key efficiency. I have subscribe and given you a thumbs up. :)
Excellent-gets right to the most important points to consider. And the graphic demonstrations are quite effective. The “Four Ds” from years ago still apply: Deter, Detect, Delay, and Detain. Detain applies directly to commercial and financial locations but in the age of Internet-connected cameras and video doorbells, the 4th “D” is now “Document.” Conclusion: install locks, etc., so they keep the bad guys busy (“Delay”) through Detection (by your alarm system), confirmation (by the monitoring center), and arrival of armed officers. Ideally, the police will beat the enterprising thieves to the inside of your house.
If you do not reinforce your door jamb with something like Strikemaster door and jamb reinforcement products, NO lock will prevent a kick-in attack. Either the jamb and/or the door will split.
dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on Instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother for the last couple of weeks xD
You should use a euro lock and a 5 lever mortice lock on outside doors and boor bolts should be used top and bottom of the doors to help prevent door flexing on forced entery and use long high carbon screws and the list peice of hardware is a wast of money use door bolts.
Hi, can you make video with testing and comment, remote control locks that they get attached inside the door and can be open with remote only or with mobile call on a sim that is inside
Interesting you should ask. The last part of this video was a demonstration of how to get through a padlock. I had a setup with a drilling hammer, a chisel, a chain, and a steel bracket. I spent so much time trying to get through the padlock that it went longer than this entire video. I never broke through the padlock with that method (I still have it and it still works). It's a medium sized Master lock. So, from a hammer force perspective, padlocks are strong. I think they will fail against decent bolt cutters though, unless you get one of the newer kind that offers little access to the locking shaft (like you see at storage rental places). I mat go back and test the sin the future.
The most common attacks against padlocks are bolt cutter and hammer attacks. To resist common bolt cutters (24") you need a boron or molybdenum shackle at least 3/8" thick. To resist heavy hammer attacks get a lock with dual ball bearing locking with a solid steel body. Not brass or laminated. To protect against large bolt cutters (36-42") you'll need a 7/16" or greater alloy shackle. Shrouded would be best. Go with a high security padlock such as Medeco or Mul-T-Lock and you'll get good protection. Pipe wrench twist attacks will defeat most padlocks also. A carbide rod saw will cut the thickest alloy shackle given a little time. All we can do is harden the target.
Do you think that you've given those with criminal thoughts more incentives, or ideas to become better criminals, are really being helpful, I would say yes, to DIYERS, and criminals awesome job two thumbs up
Night lock? Use a barricade bar etc anchored behind the door in the floor! They'll have to destroy the door to get in. This is easier than trying to fix pinewood door frames! Just don't get sick!
About your final comments, I have an assa abloy protec2 door handle lock, it can't be bumped has never been picked (proven) highly anti drill (reinforced strike plate, long hardened screws), of course you get what you pay for that knob set cost $150. Combined with my Mul-T-lock MT5 deadbolt ($200ish) (both entirely different keys that can't be copied). Combine that with a solid door, and a steel reinforced door jamb..good luck breaking in, bring some energy drinks cause your going to be there a long time. I think your videos are good but your preaching to the Home Depot, Lowes crowd not to anyone that knows anything about door security.
Gnome Star that’s not that hard 10 swings to break the glass then climb in rummage around for 5 mins and run, very possible. A security system is only as strong as its weakest link
He's giving away great information for free that the majority of people are clueless about. Where is your helpful video you complete waste of oxygen? Your father should have pulled out, paid for the service and left. Instead we get you.........
Time is there FOE. Any longer than 5 minutes. Scat. Oh ps these folks will shove a small child in a small window. The law was trying verry hard to shield the terrified child. And the DA told me to drop it. NOW.
I have some butt hurt security people mad for my Charging them for obstruction of justice. For refusing to finger print. Never disturb the site if you can. should not have even dune that. I live with a bunch naredowells.
We understand that you are a master picker idiot. His video was to inform people which he did very well not to prove a skill. Shut your ignorant mouth and please don't procreate. Thank you in advance!
Nice of you NOT showing how to make a bump lock key..very professional of you. Or it would have been had you NOT shown it up close. And people wonder WHY their insurance is so damn high these days?? UA-cam!! And people like YOU is WHY!!
He shouldn't have shown them up close, but search "*your brand here* bump key" on UA-cam or Google and you'll get plenty way more detailed results. I'm glad he said he was a complete noob & was still able to break in quickly multiple ways so we can know how vulnerable we are. Both locks could have been drilled in 5 seconds if he used a faster drill or rotary, new bit, and just focused on the vulnerable area of the cylinder. I'm grateful to be informed and will be upgrading locks and adding a cheap camera/alarm.
Absolutely..my home was broken into three times!! After owning 2, 70 pound Dobermans, (one after the next)..21 years total..NO break in's!! People don't even VISIT me anymore!! Laugh!! Added value..if you ask me anyway. Laugh! They have never bitten anyone..that I know of anyway..But then a theif is not going to report it..right? Laugh!! They ARE trained, both were before I bought them..which is well worth the extra money..trust me on that one! Just in car seats, and furniture alone you save a ton!! Good luck!
I believe displaying the bump method was totally irresponsible and might even be unlawful. Now, how many peoples homes will be broken into, or worse because of this irresponsibility by such a display. What value did this bring to you for displaying the method. You need to contact legal persons to see if you need a lawyer.
honest , real , professional , what ales any one wish for, thanks , hope there are many people like you,

Mine WERE when I moved in..not after though. Every screw is at least 3" stainless steel or 4", one of the two!

Also, know your states gun laws regarding home defense.
California has really dumb gun laws that protect home intruders -_-

Stephen ?no video on locks when u leave ur home from outside

Excellent video, and I really appreciate that you caveat so many points too.
The word caveat makes zero sense in this sentence.
I would highly recommend the Nightlock. I use it in the center of my double front doors. You would have to bust my doors off the hinges to get in.
I ordered one for every exit door in my house yesterday!! For $60 each you can't beat it! Great advice!
I recommend the door club and sold at Amazon. I have it installed and fell really safe.
So, buy BHMA grade 1 locks......nice!
It does the job. Excellent product.
The video is very helpful
great video, thank you for the tips

Those 2 locks you said not to use at the end the chain and the ball and loop one
Those a literaly the 2 locks I have on my room door
Great Video! Have you ever tried to break in with a smart lock that has key pad entry?
Drill a pilot hole first. You do NOT want to risk splitting the 2X4s.

@Benjamin Franco Yup, have been using Instaflixxer for since november myself :)
Which model Schlage? BN60 series are supposed to be resistant to bumping..
You should use a euro lock and a 5 lever mortice lock on outside doors and boor bolts should be used top and bottom of the doors to help prevent door flexing on forced entery and use long high carbon screws and the list peice of hardware is a wast of money use door bolts.
What type of Schlage Deadbolt did you use? Product number? Thanks in advance!
Awesome thanks
Concerning
THANKS FOR THE INF.

Good vid. What effectiveness do padlocks offer?

Right on and Assa is money well spent.
Gnome Star , Hmmmm
I bet your windows can be easily broken and then a robber will just climb in
@@tomsoki5738 Reinforced glass..google iy. Can be broken into with about 10-12 swings of a baseball bat.
Gnome Star that’s not that hard 10 swings to break the glass then climb in rummage around for 5 mins and run, very possible. A security system is only as strong as its weakest link
@14:12 you clearly didn't engage the bolt by the time you "finished" unlocking it with the drill
?? My unit has no screws on the exterior side. ????
what about that big gap at number 634
LOL at the half-inch gap between the "door" and the trim @ 6:30 Spent a lot of time setting that up eh?
He's giving away great information for free that the majority of people are clueless about. Where is your helpful video you complete waste of oxygen? Your father should have pulled out, paid for the service and left. Instead we get you.........
Mr Debunker #triggered
I have great idea, take entry door and sandwich a STEEL plate in between it. for door jambs, use I beam on sides, burried 6ft into ground
Foot key or roof !
How to make a bump key. Tell a locksmith to make you a key cut to the lowest setting on all pin locations on the key. Real easy.
Wow, any bump keys can open my door then! Fuck
So you say you won’t say how to make bump keys then you show one two minutes later... alrighty then...
Time is there FOE. Any longer than 5 minutes. Scat. Oh ps these folks will shove a small child in a small window. The law was trying verry hard to shield the terrified child. And the DA told me to drop it. NOW.
