This guy is great I had a nice conversation with him. He helped me feel better about moving to Grand Rapids Michigan. He is down to earth. He would help you with any questions you have. He is a good guy I would definitely keep in touch. And I just want to say thank you for sharing what you know about the area with me. Everyone leave a like.
Good luck. Move to the NE side of town and you can commute to nearly everywhere I suggest this because 28th st is hell. The NE side of gr is peaceful and quiet for the most part.
My husband and I are highly considering moving to Grand Rapids from a small town in NE Georgia. Thank you for the video! It's helping us with our decision.
Katie. I lived in Atlanta from 95-2000. Love Atlanta, the folks, THE FOOD, all the different things to do. GR is a bit different, for instance you can find a river, stream, pond, lake within 10 minutes from almost everywhere. I remember the big to-do in ATL about a new bridge over the river there. We have bridges over water everywhere. We have golf course’s all over as well, every difficulty and price range. Kent trail for walking or biking goes from one of the city to the other. Not any cooler in summer here then GA it just doesn’t last as long. Winters can be brutal. I do not lie when I say we get everything 10 years late. We had minor BLM trouble this last summer. Really great place to live, work, play and raise a family. There’s a church and a bar on every corner. OH!! Almost forgot. We are beer city USA as well.
I moved to AZ 20 yers ago and never looked back....SOOOO much cleaner better roads, the mountain beauty, desert, etc. MI does have us beat with the lakes, but those are no swimmable due to cold weather 9 months of the year, we can go to Mexico or San Diego within 4 hours where it is always swim weather.
@@andy7889 They usually only get chilly at nights when the Sun doesn't shine. Especially during Winter but still good to swim during the day throughout the year.
Dude, I am stoked about all you’ve described about Grand Rapids! You did a very great job in explaining the pros and the cons and got me all excited about moving there. I know nothing about Grand Rapids, but know I do. Thank sa billion! 🎈
Thank you so much for sharing. I moved to GR a few months before the pandemic and this video has given me so much insight to the possibilities of experiences in this city. Very informative thanks again.
I lived in GR and graduated from Wyoming Park HS, Later I worked for Westdales Home % Garden Realators on 28th st and lived on Byron Center Rd. Lots of excellent memories,
I went to GR for amway meeting it was late October it was cold I’m from Cali it was so different than Cali the airport after 10 minutes we were in country I was like dam so smalll compared to LA more rural type lots of hills no busses 🚌 or clubs
Thanks for this bro… I’ll be moving to Newaygo to take a job with the power company this week. Coming from Florida , so Im sure I’ll get a rude yet beautiful awakening in the winters
Tbh I didn’t have an issue with parking through downtown etc. Then we went to Detroit and still no issues. We must’ve just got lucky 😭. I’m from Austin so yeah I was happy to get a spot.
I think you could maybe add the Amish are of Elkhart/Goshen/La Grange, Indiana as another nearby day trip destination area. (lots of quaint farms , horse n buggy stuff ) Sort of like stepping back in time .
Have you been to a music venue called the Pyramid Scheme and the arcade in Stella's bar across the street? Good times! It's an 80 minute drive for me but well worth it.
@@livegreatgr It has the classic Konami Simpsons arcade game there where I almost want to drive up there with quarters to play it because I don't know where else has one of those anymore.
Kroger isn’t available in Grand Rapids (or anywhere in West Michigan for that matter). Kroger is everywhere in Southeast Michigan (Metro Detroit) & some in Mid Michigan
Live Great Grand Rapids I paid 800 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment which is considered cheap In GR then the new people bought it and put me out so they could get the unit to market rate! GR is expensive for a working single person! If you’re married and got 2 incomes it’s more reasonable! I moved back to Detroit and pay 750 a month for a single family house in a decent neighborhood in Detroit!
Google User Detroit is more rooted! Some of the jobs in Detroit pay more than jobs in GR. GR is easier to get in jobs. I personally like Southfield the best. In Detroit you live where you can afford. In GR Well it don’t matter it’s all expensive and only caters to Hippie/Hipsters types.
I grew up there and left as an adult and never looked back. Every time I come back to visit family I can't wait to leave. It's very tight and white and has the worst drivers and most expensive car insurance especially for luxury vehicles. Your videos are motivating me to look deeper next time I come back home to visit 😂
Kathryn, I hope that you are referring to snow, when you state that Grand Rapids is “very tight and white”. Just imagine if I were to say that Georgia is very black. I would be upsetting to blacks and be called a racist. That is a two-way street. Both whites and blacks should be recognizing the sacrifice of Martin Luther King, who abolished institutional racism in this country. Of course, it still exists but is not just one-sided and it is not the way the media, Hollywood, some government sources want us to believe.
It can be pretty boring. Especially for someone who came from Los Angeles like me. I love it here but I find myself missing some of the things I used to do there
No no no no, don’t move here G.R. Sucks. Winter snow up to yer butt, summer heat to break your A/C. Last but important,G.R. Gets everything 10 years late, fashion, music, crime. So go away now. Move to New York or California.
@@rockybass9764 That's fine. My point is still the same about the summer in Grand Rapids is nothing compared to Kuwait. I also saw airforce, Marines, and Navy there every now and then. Thanks for keeping the water safe.

The weather here is a deal-breaker it is too cloudy summer and fall are too short the winter does feel like it lasts forever.

The "rapid" roam throughout the GR area and the "dash"is only just downtown... I'll have to post the map soon. Great question
